Any A - Z instructions/guides for noobs? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there, first time positing here, so apologies if this isn't the place for this.
What I would like to know is there any A-Z guides/instructions that'll allow noobs like me who don't even know anything about installing custom ROMs or stuff?
I have an old Moto G (XT1003) which I'd like to make usable again (It's painfully laggy which I understand cause it's a 4 year old device, but I still want to do something with it to be able to use as a secondary mobile).
Also I'd really appreciate if anyone can suggest me what I can do to the Moto G to make it a bit better than it is now.
Thank you and once again, apologies if this doesn't belong here.

[Q] [i9020A] Would really appreciate some help on rooting my NS.

Hello there! This would be my first post around these parts, although I've owned my Nexus S for around 7 months now and browsed these forums in the past. I'd also like to say that I realize this question might have been asked more than once already, but I've done my due diligence and searched without finding a definitive answer.
Anyway, I've decided that I've gone for too long without being able to flash ROMs, use all those sudo-required tools and whatnot, and I've decided to root my Nexus S so I can get some of the fun I've been missing. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm a software developer and I work with embedded systems for a living, but I just don't want to risk my $500 phone if I can avoid it. What this means is be as technical as you need to be, but I'd rather have the root process be a walk in the park and not an excursion to Mordor.
Anyway, my phone is a Nexus S i9020A(UCKF1, whatever that means), running Android 2.3.6. I've read this and this thread, and while the first looks like what I'm looking for, I recall my brother being able to root his Nexus One in a few clicks and I was wondering if I could do the same for my device. The second thread looks a bit more promising, but all I've found in that thread is mentions of other NS sub-models and not of my own, nor if running 2.3.6 means incurring in any risks.
As you can see, I'd appreciate some help here. Is there a painless, few-clicks method for rooting my specific device? If you have the same device, how did you do it? Do you have any experience with that tool I linked to?
Thanks in advance. If by any chance this has been asked before, do point me in that direction and I'll be equally pleased.

New owner of 16GB Nook Tablet looking to switch to CM7 or CM10

I am fairly lost on the process for updating my nook tablet 16GB to CM7 or CM10. This forum is like an information overload for a noob like me.
Two things I want to accomplish:
(1) Decide on CM7, CM9, or CM10
(2) Once I decide, update my nook
This is going to be a family tablet. Kids (older than 10) might use it a lot. I have read that CM10 is too unstable right now (especially for kids to use). Is this still true? I got the impression from this thread that there may be vast improvements:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877217
Cam someone tell me which version has the best combination of stability/performance? Is CM10 even close yet? Not crazy about the idea of going with gingerbread.
So, once I have decided, its not clear how I should update my nook. Are there simple instructions somewhere?
I'm sorry if I offend with this post, but it needs to be said - to you and the hundreds of other newbies coming on here with similar questions ...
If you can't figure out the basics of what you need to do by reading the information already posted across the existing threads on your device's forums then you should not even consider trying to do anything other than leave it well alone on the 'Stock' build.
The potential to break your nice, new, shiny device and find yourself in a position where you cannot recover it is high unless you are sure what you are doing, and the benefits really aren't enough for what you are trying to achieve.

Your post does not offend me. I think I can figure out the basics. That's not a fair assumption about me. The problem is that I am seeing a lot of info on the web, and it is a little difficult for me to separate what I need from what I don't need. I see a lot of different info about which sd card to use or how the sd card needs to be formatted, etc, etc.
I just need one set of instructions that seems to work for most people.
But that only addresses one of my questions. The other question is whether CM10 is mature enough at this point or not?

[Q] Noob wanting to root***

Ok so I'm looking to root my HTC M7, I've been told the obvious problem already, I dont know enough yet to be rooting. Sorry, still want to try. That being said, I'm looking for some direction. A good site, a good video, anything or recommendations that will help me out. Yes I have gone to You Tube step by step videos but I always seem to run into a problem. For example, the person in the video says to follow a link below in description, I go and the link is no longer there. Or, maybe its there but takes me somewhere different than described. One of them even changed my browser to AVG (I know, I'm retarded).
Does anyone have any ideas on where to go, where to learn and where it will literally be a step by step?
By the way, the unlocking part seems easy enough. I think its from that point I run into trouble. Also, why? Everyone seems to want to know why. Simple, I would really like to learn for one. Second, I hate the garbage att lays in on me. Id like to mess with the speed (I've heard this is possible) and Id like more choices. I just want to keep the phone interesting. The last reason, I saw yesterday. If its not BS, Id like to get function from my HTC logo.
So I hope this is not to silly for all of you. If so, I do apologize.
Thanks, Chris

have you tried this?

Yes, it may sound repetitive but read, read and read it again. There is an incredible amount of knowledge contained throughout this site. Sometimes the smallest mistake/oversight can lead to a huge headache, that's why its so important to have a basic understanding of any modifications you are about to make. Start with the dedicated forum for ur service provider/phone. All the info your going to need will be included in the forum and subsequent sub-forums. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions, we've all been in the same spot before. Use the tools that the site provides, search for your answers and read thru the forums.

Thanks.
Thanks for the help. I did end up finding more help in the dedicated area, especially when I went to my phones forums. Huge thanks for the encouragement. I will deff. read a little more before jumping off the cliff. Looks like the process has become much easier and people are developing all in one tools. Cool stuff, thanks again!

[Q] rooted n9005xxudmj7 now what?

Hi guys,
Firstly just want to thank anyone and everyone in advance and im sorry if I have posted in the wrong place. Very new to all of this and have just rooted my phone today. I was under the impression I would be able to install kit kat 4.4.2 to my device. (Note 3 build number n9005xxudmj7) but can't quite find out how.
Any info or additional things I should be doing would be great. So far been able to add additional apps to s-pen and multi window, customised a few settings. Any other tricks people know of would be great but mainly would like 4.4.2.
Thanks again.
Anybody have any info??
Best is to read first before asking questions.
Questions belong in Q&A section, not general.
Rooting is a personal choice usually made for a specific purpose, I would recommend anyone just to root to see what happens, since it's a relatively delicate procedure, plus potentially voiding your warranty.
Read, analyse, think, choose and then you are welcome to ask.

Asus Zenfone 2 Stock Rom (without brand apps)

First of all, I'm TRULLY sorry if I'm posting this thread anyhow mistaken.
It's way too complicated for begginers like me to understand the right thread or forum to place questions about devices and stuff like that.
I've searched a lot of threads related to my device but I couldn't find the correct answer to my question, so here I am.
Well, let's see: I have an Asus Zenfone 2. Really like it but I just can't stand those ****ty Asus apps that comes in every device of the brand.
Question is: is there any way to flash the stock rom (I REALLY love the features and settings Asus has on its cellphones) without most of those apps (that, basically, just occupies space and memory) or maybe even choosing which ones I want to install? That would be awesome and I appreciate any help that might come in handy!
Many thanks!
