I'm feeling like an idiot at the moment. I acquired an S8 today and was planning on giving my old optus acquired S6 to a friend. Not properly following any guides I managed to do a factory reset on my device. Only now it seems to be stuck on the Samsung boot up logo. Not sure what to do from here. Original plan was to root it and have a clean slate.
Any guidance or help would be more than appreciated.
Disregard this.
I managed to get my phone into a download screen and acquire new firmware which I installed via Odin3. Phone is now functioning again, minus all the forced software from my original carrier. Feeling good, even though I probably just lucked out.
Thanks anyway.

So, I've done this before, and I've never bricked a device until now.
I tried installing a custom rom for my Galaxy S3 on Verizon, but when I restarted, it says this:
System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help.
I can't get into clockwork, or any bootloader. Any attempt to do anything brings this screen up.
Now, I can get into the Odin downloader. (Power, volume down and home). But, I can't figure out how to get a Rom to load. This is where I am stuck. I have downloaded a few roms, all stock, but none of them want to be recognized. I have no idea where to go. I've been downloading stuff for 5 hrs and nothing has worked, so now Im going to the forumns. Any help is appreciated.
I have the Verizon i-535 Galaxy SIII.
You did not brick your phone you failed to unlock your bootloader. There are 2 guides in the android dev section for rooting.

Odin back to stock and next time after rooting make sure to use EZUnlock 1.2 to unlock the bootloader BEFORE loading a ROM
Hello,
I have just installed an update following "[HOWTO] [ROOT] No Tripping Flash Counter [Tmobile / Wind / Mobilicity / Videotron]" thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687). I updated my S3 from stock 4.0.4 to 4.3 JellyBean version. Everything went smooth as I followed the instruction carefully, however, now I can't connect to windmobile network.
I am going to put all the info that might be relevant.
I am a noob, so when I first tried to update the bootloader I failed miserably and hard-bricked it. I took the phone to a repair shop, since it needed to be JTAG'ed. They promised me that they would fix the phone in one day, but they didn't and weren't happy with me that I was calling them everyday to ask whether the phone was ready. They asked me to take the phone without completely fixing it.
The good news is they revived my phone, so it turns on, which means I can fix it myself. The bad news is they couldn't find a working baseband to install. Anyways, I found the topic, mentioned above, and followed their instructions. In the topic, the author said that the ROM would update everything including bootloader and baseband, so I went for it, since it was the easiest solution. Everything went smoothly, except now I can't connect to network. I checked everything again and pretty sure I followed everything with a great care.
I have started digging around and found out that my phone is missing IMEI and IMEI SV, which might be the reason I can't register to the network. However, I am not sure, so I would greatly appreciate your help.
I am using Samsung S3 SGH-T999V. Thank you in advance and Happy New Year.
I recently bought this tablet, and stupidly, upgraded to Lollipop right away. How do I revert this tablet back to it's original state?
I have downloaded a Kit-Kat image from Nvidia's website but I can't seem to get anything from the instructions to work. It appears as though my bootloader is locked, but the instructions on their website don't work for me.

Any help would be appreciated. I am not interested in rooting, as this tablet does what I need it to without root.
Thanks!
Quick story: bought used phone on craigslist with good esn, brought it home, (DID NOT do my research about samsung account lock beforehand)...did a factory reset, previous owner does not have samsung account information to give me., and won't take back the phone. I've been messing with it for 2 days and about ready to sell it on ebay or buy a used motherboard....
After the initial factory reset it booted to setup normally, after a few failed attempts at the samsung account lock username and password, it rebooted. Now the phone is stuck in a boot loop, it reboots after about 30 seconds, after just enough time to select a language in setup
I can get to download mode but it shows "reactivation lock: on" First tried clear cache partition, and a few times factory reset.
This was as a result of just a factory reset not flashing any firmware or anything.
This is phone model g920v (VZW) running 5.1.1 OG5
LMY47X.G20VVRU3OG5
I can boot to download mode and android system recovery just fine, and the phone will not reboot, but no matter how many times I have tried factory reset, reboot, wipe cache partition, etc, no change, still reboots after 30 seconds of setup.
I tried flashing G920VVRU3BOG5_G920VVZW3BOG5_G920VVRU3BOG5_HOME.tar.md5 with odin 3.10 (not successful with odin 3.09), odin 3.10 was successful, but no change, still stuck in boot loop. checked md5, tried again with same file downloaded from a different source...
Also tried messing around in sidesync, VZW software upgrade assistant, and even kies with no real luck. I am not concerned with root, but hesitant to flash anything other than the OG5 version that is on there now. Just want to get to the point where I can try some of the "samsung account bypass" tricks I have read about like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6/help/bypass-samsung-reactivation-lock-t3250282
Any details I left out? PLEASE ASK, I will happily clarify. I have searched the forum extensively and consulted google.
ANY INPUT VERY GREATLY APPRECIATED as to what steps I should try next. Thank you
Have you reached out to Samsung? Better yet can't the seller just remove the reactivation lock from his account? That should be the first thing the seller should have done prior to selling it. If he doesn't know his Samsung login info HE need to call them...very irresponsible on his part.
Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
The seller would need to figure out what his Samsung account is. otherwise it's basically a brick.
I appreciate the responses, however, I am not willing to give up yet. I believe if I can get past the reboot/boot loop issue, I can bypass the samsung account lock, as other people have confirmed on the g920v, in the link I posted above.
the seller told me that it was a phone he bought used, and it had the previous owner's samsung account info attached. The seller will not help me, and I do not have the email address or any way to contact the owner before him. Being craigslist, I do not have any leverage for a return to the seller, etc.
I have not tried contacting samsung.
I am planning to try to flash OG9 version next using odin. Then I will try to flash the newest version, OK7
After that I will try to update with kies. If that doesn't work I will try to take it to best buy samsung experience center and see if they can flash anything...
Are there any bootloaders/ custom recovery that I should consider looking into, anything that I may have missed? for 5.1.1? twrp?
Again, thanks for your help, any advice or links to relevant posts or info would be VERY greatly appreciated. Thank you!
From my understanding (while limited) no amount of flashing will remove the Reactivation lock. It's designed to be just that, a lock, that prevents someone who stole the phone from using it.
KIES does not work on the S6, you have to use SmartSwitch instead.
Samsung can't do anything for you.
hello all.
long time viewer first time posting..
Ive searched, downloaded, and even called Samsung Tech Support to no avail. After a week now this is my final attempt before the phone goes on Ebay..
I have a Samsung Galaxy On5 (SM-GT550T01) through MetroPCS. Acquired last week when I decided to trade a sibling phones. I had actually rooted the phone for them and it was working fine. switched SIM card out etc, theirs works fine mine isn't. Turns out they did a factory reset with root and somehow managed to even wipe the OS leaving me with just Twrp Recovery.. Ive locked up my fair share so first thought was smart switch the SN i found on Twrps terminal was not the original sn anymore? Searched here saw someone post a sn -tried it - it seemed ok until 100% then states an error use code in emergency recovery but does not give me a code.. eventually says cannot recognize anything, Ive tried ODIN, ADB, countless recovery firmware - same result,,,called support was transferred to "the techs" who said they wouldn't be able to force a new OS onto the phone...I find that very hard to believe...sorry for the rant....just wanting to know now if i waste anymore time or buy a new phone....as for knowledge on all this I would say between beginner and intermediate...lots of google/XDA/YouTube and I am usually able to accomplish something..this had me beat as well as awake at 346am...any help appreciated! Again

What happened with your Samsung oN5 GT5501
Im currently trying to root my samsung GT5501. Now I notice their is a GT550. Different model. I think the GT550 is the ON5 Pro. 16Gb of internal storage, but the one I'm guessing were both inquiring about has an internal storage of 8GB, correct?? Now hopefully were talkg bout the same phone. Now was it the GT5501 the phone u had rooted? If so, did u do it without a PC?? If so can you direct me to instructions or vids. Can't find any specifically for the GT5501. All the tutorials are for the GT550 model..... sorry I wasn't any help to you, but I hope you got it all sorted out...
