Because Samsung has yet to reimplement the the function that allows you to change your S8's navigation bar color to black, or whatever color you want for that matter, I thought I'd make a Windows program that allows you, and makes it a lot easier to change the navigation bar color to whatever you want.
The program downloads necessary tools that are needed to change the navigation bar color, like adb, automatically and makes the procedure easier if you ever want to change your navigation bar color.
All you have to do is make sure USB-debugging is enabled on your phone, start the program, choose color and press Go to apply chosen color!
The project is Open Source so the source code and project files are available if you feel like taking a look at them.
The program works with the S8, S8+ and Note 8!
If you have any suggestions or questions feel free to write about them in this thread!
Download link to the program and the link to the source code and project files will be posted down below by the user 'bpl'
Download link for the program: Dropbox
Source code and project files: Github

The app only puts a sort of theme over the navbar and can be pretty buggy.
My program changes the color values of the navbar so its not just a theme, and because of that, the navbar works just like it should and isn't buggy.

Small question up front, it just changes the values of the nav bar?
And on home screen, is it still transparent?

Yep, just changes the color values of the navbar. The color will still be applied after reboot too.
So long as your launcher has a transparent navbar by default it will stay transparent.

You mean you would like to change the status bar color or the individual items on the status bar?
Because there's no clock or signal strength indicator on the navbar heh

Changing the status bar color will most likely require you to root your phone because you will need to modify system files to change the status bar properties...
But if you are rooted then here is a tutorial on how to change the individual status bar icon colors: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549309

Everyone will be knowing that MIUI supports transparent notification - (http://img.tapatalk.com/62cede0e-f9b4-58c5.jpg)
I prefer using the TW launcher rather than the MIUI launcher - of course, I know that I can still use MIUI notification drawer on the TW launcher, but the problem is that you lose the transparency on the home screen ... with most drawer themes.
I noticed that the notification drawer theme "Galaxy S" - is actually transparent, even on TW home screen.... my question is, does any one know how to make ANY notification bar transparent, or know of any other themes that have this transparency effect on TW?

I am not an expert at these things but i am pretty sure they cant be seperated. Its true, the drawer is quite bad... Too dark for the font used. Have tried a few other themes with no success

Ok... I have just made a discovery!!
You cant change the background to the drawer.. But you can combine texts and icons from another theme.
1. Go to theme then set the theme you like the text, colour and icons of. i like the 'gentleman' theme
2. Then go back to theme and then go to 'mix' and change only the 'status bar, to ' galaxy S'
Of course, mix and match everything else. Looks perfect now.
Just spent hours trying to modify themes using theme editor, and also modifying systemui.apk... Failed sigh.
Any theming wizards able to make the status bar background Grey or clear with apex launcher?? Basically I figured out that there is no file for status bar background, and the miui launcher defaults to clear, while apex defaults to black. I tried adding a Grey background, but failed..

I like too much HTC Themes and launcher so I use another one.
We will have to wait for the M10 so the htc xda modders find the png responsible for this brown tint, when you use a blank white wallpaper you can see how horrible are the tint on statusbar and navigation bar are, htc enlarged it to the first array of shortcuts so we can read the text with any wallpapers but it hides half the screen now

Wow that was quick. Waiting for OB11.
I think the blue color (judging by the screenshots) is still the untouched color from OxygenOS, not from the Pixel.
Is it also possible to mod the circle user icon in the quick settings to the same blue?
After checking the hex codes:
Pixel colors
grey #2D2D2D
blue #5184F3
Your colors
grey #2A2C2E
blue #2196F3
Its possible to make status bar on settings darker?

- Brightness slider still has the old blue
- settings app icons have the correct blue
- grey color is correct in settings and notification shade
Enabling a darker status bar inside the settings might be hard to achieve?!
I like the new blue! Thanks for modding.

By restoring your backup.
I for example simply backuped both apk files from the system folder,
so I can restore them from within TWRP file manager incase something goes wrong.

Thank you so much for this. Honestly I don't like the pixel blue and grey combination much but its hundred times better than the crap oxygen colors. Thanks again.
P. S. Is it possible for you to get the stock nougat color combination.
I use Swiftkey keyboard and on the s8 plus the nav bar is white whenever the keyboard is out. Is there anyway to make the nav bar match the theme or at least be black?
there's an app for that!
it's called 'Navbar Apps' you can change the nav bar to black instead of bright white when using the keyboard
anyway to resize the Navbar.. its huge!!
I use chroma and also interested in app which could match colors.
Btw - stock settings could make navbar different colors, but it won't be dynamic, like chroma keyboard (different colors of keyboard in different apps).
Does it persist across all apps? I set my navigation bar color to black in the phone settings. This is so it matches my keyboard which is black.
Works sometimes, then doesn't. Like in WhatsApp it's white, in the XDA app white. Browser black, SMS black etc

For the home screen just go in settings and hide all the icons. I would like to know how to hide it in chrome without root. Samsung has full screen mode.

I won't make the icon transparent. I would make the black bar transparent, so that the color is the same like the app
That depends on the app usually, apps can theme the status bar when they launch, you do get very nice transparent substratum themes but they probably wouldn't change the status bar unless they theme that app too.

This is exactly correct. Your at the mercy of the app. Unless the app can be themed, it's what it is.
