Any way to debrand U11? - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

I got it on Three network Ireland, Security patch is still on June 1. , No newer updates available, and few bloatware apps.
Any way to debrand with or without losing warranty?
EDIT: Coming over from Samsung, is there some tool like Odin for flashing official firmwares, and place to download official firmwares for HTC devices.

No debranding currently as no S-OFF available and a change of CID/MID would be needed to accomplish it.

There has been an update with s-off. Expect to lose warranty, unless you can get back to original CID/MID.

Hi all.
I'm still using my Nexus 4 but my provider (Orange F) has an interesting offer for the HTC U11. But I think that it will carry a provider specific ROM. From what I have read over here, it should be possible to install a generic ROM via S-OFF (loosing warranty). Could you confirm that possibility? What I am interested in, is getting more than the usual 2 years of updates. So installing a custom ROM after the warranty period is over.
Thank in advance
EDIT: Phone received, no provider specific ROM on it, so no S-OFF needed yet.

Hi from France,
I've receive my U11 Branded by Orange... My CID is: ORANG219
I want to install a generic stock ROM... CID for France/Europe: is 001 ?
So, I need to buy S-OFF ?
Install HTC Boot loader ?
Root: not need ?
The generics Rom are here ? https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11/how-to/rom-stock-ruu-dualsim-sprint-t3610430

Hello.
I got my phone from Orange at the same occasion. It has a generic HTC ROM though.
My CID is: HTC__034
And it seems it is for HTC Europe.
The ROM is 1.27.401.5

Hello,
before install a Stardard Rom: I must change my CID by: HTC__034 ? with the S-OFF For France ?

Sorry, I haven't done this, so I'm not 100% sure.
I think you must :
- unlock bootloader
- install TWRP
- make a backup ?!?
- turn S-OFF and set CID
- install generic rom
BUT, don't do anything unless you really sure about the steps to do. And why you are doing them ! Else you might end up with a brick.
Or you could also just deactivate the preinstalled Orange apps… the current Orange version is up to date with HTC regarding security patches.

Thank's !
Yes, I don't begin before to be sure & than I've understood the complete procedure to debrand my CID: ORANG219 for change to stock Rom !
There is a guide for debrand/change CID/install Stock Rom Europe (France) ?
Or, there is a person on this forum who have do that ?

I got the same phone from Orange on the same offer.
My CID is ORANG219 and my MID is 2PZC10000.

There should be a way to debrand it with S-OFF, but it's $25 and temporary only.
Personally, the issue that I have with Orange's U11 is that they messed up the status bar with unremovable carrier name, and weird notifications (see https://imgur.com/a/rgAPN for screenshots).
There's probably a way to update the phone to an debranded stock rom. There's already a thread on XDA about returning to stock, and it's probably possible to do a nandroid backup of the Orange ROM and change back the CID/MID with S-OFF to their original values, in case the phone needs to be sent in for repairs.
BUT I would wait until Orange releases the update for Oreo, and go from there. Hopefully they'll fix it.
I'll contact the support and try to get in touch with the dev team at Orange.

I think you lucked out, I got ORANG219 :/
It might seem like a random question, but do you have "Orange F" displayed in the status bar ?
Also in the status bar, do the notifications appear at the left of the screen or at the center ?
Finally, it might not matter, but did you get it through Orange or Sosh ?

I got the phone through Orange. "Orange F" is not displayed on the home screen, only on the lock screen. Notifications are on the left. Clock and network etc. are on the right. And I had no Orange apps, or ringtones etc. preinstalled.

Damn, that's exactly what I want on my phone :/
I'm gonna check with one other user that has his phone on ORANG219 to be sure.
Which means I know have two possibilities :
A) Contact Orange and ask that they exchange my phone for another one from HTC Europe with CID HTC__034 instead of ORANG219, which is highly unlikely
B) Spend $25 on S-OFF to change my CID to HTC__034 and switch to version 1.27.401.5, which is risky, remove the warranty, and maybe mean me not getting updates in the future
Yeah, I don't know what to do :/

You have to upload the firmware to reduce the SPL.
I also had versions of the SPL 1.22 and the phone I had with Vodafone DE.
I updated the firmware to RUU_Spark_Vodafone_DE_1.09.162.00_Radio_5.50.09.15_22.23.50.09U_by_ansar.
After uploading you do SPL 1.09.
Then you're doing RSPL/HSPL.

I suspect you need to find the firmware from your provider to lower
SPL or wait for the work DarkForcesTeam.
I do not know whether the accident XTC Clip no longer removes the CID lock
My vodafone greece trophy had 1.22
But if you choose 1.10.xxxxx.04 it will work just fine. I did and it was ok

I used my XTC Clip to remove the CID, but now i want to install the RSPL but it won't get past the model check. Mine shows 40*** other than 40100. But my HD7 worked just fine as 29*** is in the supported list.
With the Trophy being CID unlocked i can't flash the DFT rom it just sits there at 0% . I did downgrade the SPL from 1.22 to 1.10 but didn't make any difference.

If you see a date above imei number, this means sim unlock code not available. The "second method" refers to an alternative for Sensation users only, doesn't work on DS unfortunately.

I see only a date too . Is there any other way to do this? Vodafone is charging 50 euros for unlocking, which I find unacceptable.
Anyone find anything useful on this topic? Is there any way to replicate the method 2 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107 on our device? Perhaps with a PG88DIAG.nbh file?

As Vodafone probably sold the phone (locked) for a very low price, I don't see that as unacceptable, maybe you can't afford it, but that doesn't mean Vodafone is doing anything "wrong".

The phone was, in fact, bought at a reasonably lower cost due to it being part of a deal for a new subscription, and I'm not saying that they shouldn't charge money for unlocking it, because it's well within their rights to do so. It seems to me, though, that this fee is much higher than what is regularly charged for this service (from what I read on these forums / asked other people).
Whatever the cost, though, being able to do it for free is better than having to pay for it . That's the reason why I asked about the method 2 from the Sensation forum. It seems to me that we would only need the .nbh file appropiate for our device (a PG88DIAG.nbh instead of PG58DIAG.nbh), but I don't know where anyone would obtain such a file, In any case, it's something worth researching. I only wish I were more experienced with this sort of hacking / exploiting, perhaps someone more capable than me can look into it.
There was a thread with some technical document about our DS here. The source was a Chech website for mobile phone diagnostic and repair. I think there was a Diag file among the other downloads. You can search for it
EDIT: I have typed PG88DIAG.nbh in Google and got pretty much hits

I wonder if it's the right file or if the people on the Sensation forum modified it somehow to suit their needs. I tried using one of the PG88DIAG.nbh files I found here on XDA, but after following the exact instructions from the Sensation thread, my phone got stuck on "Error writing CID" (or something). It could have been because of the HBOOT (I was using the 0.98.2000 ENG HBOOT) and I could try it again on revolutionary's S-OFF HBOOT, the thread mentioned it needs radio S-OFF, i'm not sure if it has that.
I found another solution to this, and a Desire S owner in the threaed claims that it worked for him (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681145).
However, in my case it didn't work, My guess is because of the way Vodafone locks their handsets, which seems to be different than the way HTC locks them. Oh well, back to the Internet for more solutions. I hope this one helps some of you.

Desire S doesn't have radio S-OFF.
The most convenient way to achieve full (radio) S-OFF and SIM unlock on Desire S would be to build a Froyo kernel that will run on it and allow executing ADB daemon. It doesn't need to boot Android, just to run. But it's something that a good kernel developer is required for.
Given such kernel, Desire S owners could use gfree.

Unfortunately I'm no where near Germany right now, and I doubt I'll find a helpful XTC Clip owner in Romania, so I decided I'll just give the money to Vodafone and get it over with. I want to gift this phone for Christmas to someone who's on Orange, so I'll just go ahead and pay up. Thanks for the offer though
Well for 50€ you could also buy an XTC clip and you could unlock nearly every HTC device then
They are sending it via FedEx express btw
I'll keep that in mind, thanks for the info

Has anybody in the UK received the OTA 4.0.4?

I recently picked up an S One and havent rooted or unlocked or anything... well, I downloaded the update file thinking that I could manually install it by going into the stock bootloader, but Im getting a message saying cant mount sd card.
So, I thought I'd wait to just get it OTA, but so far just saying that there are no updates
From what I have seen it is not, I'm in UK and have no update but I have s3 so may take a week or so longer for me but then again may get it at same time who knows lol.
But I'm pretty sure it's not out in UK yet.

Any news on the OTA 4.0.4 in the UK? Has anyone got it yet?
Nope, going by the one X and the Europe and UK 4.0.4/sense V4.1 releases, we should get it around next Tuesday-Wednesday (I hope).
I'm branded with T-Mobile UK, they said to a One X owner that the Sense 4.1 update would be coming in OCTOBER! I haven't received the 2.21 or 2.31 update can't can't run the RUU as my CID is not included in the android-info.txt file... (T-MOB005)
And keep in mind I haven't even got the 1.78 update, still on 1.77.110.5...
I wish so badly that RUUs would work on branded devices...
And the store employees don't know cr*p, they said Jellybean was coming in September and that you could downgrade if you didn't like it... that explains everything!

Hello guys!
I just got a second hand HTC One S and the first thing I did was to check for software updates. I got an OTA that I did not see in any of the listed sites here so I decided to upload it to shipped-roms.com, do you know how to upload it to AndroidRUU?
The OTA in question is named:
OTA_Ville_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.16.401.9-3.16.401.8_release_314502nkooijnhkglckupn.zip

Have you tried to email [email protected]?
Looking to completely restore my HTC One S to how it was when I bought it. Going to send it back.
Is this the right place for that? I thought RUU were for that, but does it restore everything?
Yes

Did you have to take any preliminary steps before running the RUU? I'm rooted and running CM10.2 on my One S but have been getting random restarts and crashes for a while now so I'm thinking to go back to factory settings. I'm still S-ON and HBOOT 2.15, but rebooting my phone shows a red HTC message saying it's for devs, etc. I'm not sure if I need to 'un-do' that somehow, before running the RUU?
Also do you know if running an RUU results in the device loosing root as well?
Guys, help me out here please? My HTC One s has a CID GLOBA001, platform: HBOOT-8960, version-bootloader: 2.15.0000, version-baseband: 1.11.50.05.28, version-misc: PVT SHIP S-ON.
I just wanna get back to stock. Could anyone help me out?
I have been unable to find Wind's stock RUU and I don't know how I'm gonna get S-OFF either.
I'm running CM-11 right now.

Hey, thanks for that link. I just managed to gain S-off by rumrunner, I haven't changed my CID yet, just S-on to S-off. Would this RUU work for me?

Hi people,
I got this notification early this morning for an OTA software update, which adds some USSD code stability, enhancements and bug fixes but no File Manager..

After the update here is my About screen for software:
Also, now at boot, under the HTC logo, the font in which Android was written has changed to the new style:
Here is the link to the OTA I downloaded: https://mega.co.nz/#!0MhhjboT!VZVUVq61sJa05XZVaaN1n8TdLzGPU5917i40KUYcnws
Wow. And my 1.25.720.3 device has no OTA yet, I think I need to be a bit worried now.

That is because I'm on Reliance CDMA. It shows a separate signal for 1x and EvDO.. Also, I don't even use the dual SIM.. I just use it with one..
Hi guys
I just updated from 1.26.720.5 to 1.26.720.6 today
I can confirm that my sys r/w boot.img works on the latest update, so you all can use it too for perfect root !
As per improvements i haven't noticed much other than the USSD code problem.
I use to have a problem with sim 2 before the update.
Whenever i try to check balance on sim2 (airtel) using *123# i use to get error , BUT after the latest update it is fixed.
Njoy!

Your current firmware is probably 1.25.720.3. That's why. I guess we need to go to SVC to get it updated. -_-

One of my friends went to the service center and spoke to HTC Support as well and he was told that there are no updates over 1.25.720.3.. Isn't that strange!

It's not really, from what I know, it also depends on the availability of the latest software with them, which needs to be coordinated beforehand. In any case, I'll be finding out soon at the Bangalore SVC, since the Kolkata one didn't have the 1.26.720.5 too. I want my phone to be up to date. They are not even pushing out OTA. This is bull****, I'll create a ruckus if they say no update is available. :/

He has got the Update because he Using reliance CDMA. This update should be carrier based update. .. and hope that's others didn't receive...
It isn't carrier based. My phone was on a newer firmware to begin with. I didn't buy it from the carrier anyway.
Lollipop update corrupted
On my HTC E8 dual SIM Indian phone (bought from Flipkart at 32k), I checked for update and got 1.25.720.5. After updating successfully, checked again and updated 1.25.720.6 too. The next check said Lollipop update 2.33.720.3 (863.75 MB) available. Ever since then (yesterday), I've downloaded the update three times unsuccessfully. After completion, which sometimes takes 6-8 hours, it says the update file is corrupted, and to download again. I started the download for fourth time.
Question: Anyone else facing/faced similar problem? What's the remedy?
I have done NO software tweaks on my phone since purchase.
Thanks in advance.
