Honor 8 and Lineage OS Root and Unlock? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

I am getting the Honor 8 today. I got it for $200 brand new I was wondering how easy or hard is it to unlock, root install TWRP and then install Lineage OS on the Honor 8? And are there any good guides to doing this?
Thanks...

yes , first update to emui 5.0 and later unlock bootloader and get code . twrp FOR GUIDE here :https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-unlock-bootloader-install-twrp-t3554789
and go to los ROM thread and download zip.
and in twrp format data > type "yes" and swipe reboot again to twrp and flash the zip .done

Thanks for the input. I'll try stock first, I always use Nova anyway. Then I will move onto LOS if need be....

Ok . But trying anything new before first make a fullback up

So far the stock ROM seems nice, no issues really. I can tell though they are trying to make it look and feel like Apple's IOS. With Nova on it, seems very fast and very smooth...

It's not the same. From my experience with Kirin platforms, AOSP is easier to get working (since EMUI is based on it).
About the 'near future', no idea, if you want me to talk from my experience, I've been sending Huawei emails since December and I am still waiting lol.
Relax, explore the device, try not to scratch it and wait for the roms.
According to @svetius Huawei is close to releasing the kernel code. It's not everything needed for CM13, but it's a place to start. I'm hoping they are going to provide more than just the kernel, and they provide a device tree and vendor proprietary files as well. I know I'll be trying my hand at building cm13 as the source files are released.

Is there even a difference? Try to find a difference between the FRD-L09 kernel and the FRD-L04 one.
And no, it won't speed up rom development or whatever, we've discussed about that countless times.

Not sure what parts of EMUI is giving you pain, but if it's just the UI you could just change to Nova Launcher or another Launcher for now. I've been using Nova-Launcher since the moment I got it and I think it works great.

No,but you won't get OTA's as cyanogen server shut down months ago!
So you must have to flash lineage os (in order to make the device not obsolete and he'll(buyer) get updates too and you just have to show him how to proceed with updates on TWRP and that if any issue arises,he should contact you))and then sell it,although,I didn't liked the idea of selling such a beauty like Oneplus One.

Yes, considering the fact that there is redmi 4 available at 7k,very good enough.
Although,to make buyer more protective, you should sell your device with Nougat on it.
It doesn't take much time to unlock bootloader, flash twrp and flash any OTA supported nougat ROM,see my updated post above,I linked you a thread.

If I wanted iOS I would have bought an iPhone. The recent apps menu is garbage and a huge downgrade, the volume control is also awful. No to mention changes in the UI design that look worse than what we had with KitKat. Pie is a huge downgrade compared to Oreo.

You can simply download the OREO full rom and flash it as a local upgrade or if you have twrp, simply follow the steps to flash after wiping the system (not internal storage). Here is a link (see item number 3) for downgrade at the OP6 website. I have not tried it but should work

Can anyone confirm if this works? I too would like to downgrade. At least for the moment...
CapitalOne app currently doesn't work
Pandora lockscreen controls aren't there
Substratum without root is gone
Silent adjustment of volume bars no longer possible
3.5mm output volume is lower (on streaming apps)
Yes it works. I rollback from H2 os PIE to Oos Oreo 5.1.9 at that time.
