[Q] Sidekick 4g glass broken

Hello all,
The glass cover on my sidekick got broken accidentally. The LCD works fine.
I'm planning to get a replacement front panel glass.
I found the following link on ebay

Is this an original OEM part as described? After it's replaced will it work as good as the original?
Any other options other than the above ebay link?

Sorry this is late, but the ribbin cable and glass seem to be just like the original. Let us know how it went.

How did you break it? I'm asking only because I know this is a pretty durable phone, I've already dropped it screen first on gravel, without a scratch to show of it.

This looks legit to me. Digitizer is the key word. I've replaced many of these on different phones. As long as it's a ditizer for the correct phone model number. Are you doing this yourself? There should be some good tutorials on disassembly on youtube.

@AFAinHD It was bizarre! My watch was on a chair. My wife threw my watch onto the bed saying "here it is. keep it ". The metal part of the watch fell on the mobile (the bevel part of the glass). You could imagine our shock after that!!

Not planning to do this myself. There's a good servicing person (freelancer) for all kinds of mobiles. Planning to give it to him.

ok so that ebay link says that it costs $50 and paying someone to put it in idk how much but i can get a replacement from TMO from insurance for 90+10 for shipping, i think ill get a new one and sell this one to the guy at the shop for 75 lol. mines cracked over the FFC so it only looks bad it works fine

Moto Z Best Screen Protector?

I am seeing a lot of screen protectors coming out on amazon, that are from small companies, was wondering if anybody has ever tried them and which one is the best one? Should I go try some of them out or wait for Zagg to come out of one of their own for the Moto Z/Z force?

Never felt like paying the premium for Zagg stuff; I've been using Skinomi protectors on my last three phones (it's the same material as Zagg/GadgetGuard etc). Have the TechSkin on my Z Force and it fits PERFECTLY, right up to the edge. Tried the MatteSkin once, but found it de-contrasted my screen way too much.

I have just ordered 4 or 5 of them from the small companies that I have never heard of. I'm planning to review them. They start arriving this weekend and my moto z arrives on Tuesday. Can't wait to get started as I tried the phone in BestBuy answer was really impressed.

Well crap. I thought it was the Force that had the 2.5D screen edges. We aren't ever going to get a decent glass screen protector for this phone. My S7 was just like this and as popular as it is doesn't have a good glass screen protector.

how is the fit?

I wish I would have come across this thread before I bought the IQ Shield Tempered Glass protector. Clarity and feel are amazing but the edges don't seal!! It really grinds my gears.

Just bought a generic tempered glass (I highly doubt it is real tempered glass, maybe just some plastic). It is really cheap, not prone to fingerprints, and it makes the screen look great. Adhesion is nice, no abnormal lifts from the sides. Here are some pictures and the price tag.

I'm jealous, that seal looks perfect! I paid twice as much and mine is lifted on the left, right, and bottom edges.

Installed today... The front screen protector is of good quality and attach perfectly on screen even if it is a bit small in size in all directions in my opinion. Great transparency and print resistance too...
The back one is like old screen protections and it's impossible to fit it without a lot of bubble...
Too much for me so I removed... It's a pity since it had a good print resistance too... that was really needed.

Anyone found a screen protector that covers the entire front?

So the link I posted last week, I realized that was for the Moto Z Force and I just have the Moto Z/Moto Z Droid. So I purchased this one and will be returning the other one.

I didn't get it on exactly perfect but if I did then I think it would have been pretty close to full coverage. I'm considering pull it off and replacing it. Also, I bought a full body protector so that I could put something on the back to protect from scratches and some finger prints. When I pulled it out and looked at it before applying it to the phone then I noticed there was no hole for the gold connection pins to pass through. I was very disappointed. Possible LG V20 Camera Glass Replacement

That's weird, usually you just put in your cc info. I'm tempted to buy a broken v20 with the camera lens intact for $70, just waiting until ct06033 receives his and replaces it to see if I can save $30 by buying this of aliexpress.

Yeah maybe that is it. I used a debit and credit and still got shut down. I would use paypal but they do not take it.

Anyone know what sort of glue/silicon/tape I need to keep the camera glass on? Would prefer not to use super glue, for obvious reasons...
Just bought a V20 and mine came outta the box half falling off. I can keep pressing it back on, but there's just not enough glue underneath to hold it on. Half tempted to return it and get a new replacement, but if these things tend to break anyways, I'd rather just fix what I have already.

Falling off is obvious defect. They'll replace it. The issue for people like me is that LG hasn't officially acknowledged the shattering issue so to my carrier it's reckless damage. Even though I walked out with the phone and came back 5 minutes later with a shattered camera glass with no signs of dropping.
Replace it while you can and see if they'll let you get one with a recent manufacturing date.

Just posting an update. My order did go through and the site says I should receive the part by end of April. Not exactly a fast process but it shipped on 3/8.

I notice my camera glass broke 6 weeks ago. Never had dropped. I was in camera and noticed the picture was blurred so i examined pbone and found the glass had cracked from led over to camera lenses.

Funny you mentioned this, it came in today! So far, I've only given it a visual inspection and the glass is intact on the new one. I'll give a run down, process, and hopefully pics tonight.

Okay, so I finished it. Everything works as it should. Finger print, both cameras, etc. no issues at all.
I did encounter a few issues. First, it was hard to line everything back up again. specifically on the left side, there is a button module that doesn't seem to seat fully. This left my fingerprint sensor not lining up quite as flush with the back cover as it did from the factory, maybe .5mm off. The same can be said of the top cap. its barely noticable, maybe .5 - 1mm off. but its enough that I notice but nobody else well. The last thing I encountered is the new piece has this little rubber stopper on the upper right corner where a metal tab was on my phone. I thought something was wrong at first but just remove it and you will be fine.
As for the walkthrough.... First, remove the back plate and the battery, sim, sd card. Theres maybe a dozen or more screws to remove. you can leave in the ones on the middle left that have a silver back plate. those do not hold in the plastic piece you are removing. next comes the upper and lower caps.. these were really difficult to remove and I felt like I was going to break something but they just snap off once the screws were removed. I followed iFixit and started at the lower left by the speaker to remove the plastic plate. Its really easy to break so take your time and use a prying tool. if you use your fingers you will break something. I used qtips and rubbing alcohol to clean the lenses and get rid of some dust that collected. everything just goes back on in reverse. very simple and easy, no glue. good luck guys!

I can take use them now with a dbrand skin on. At least I can peel a case off real fast and throw it back on when done. I tried rocking it bare and my back got all scratched up somehow.

That's a generic Amazon response that means other Amazon members didn't answer the question. Probably because the case isn't shipped yet. If you didn't contact the seller directly, then you probably won't get a response. I've had good luck with other sellers going directly to their seller page/profile and clicking the contact seller option (I don't recall exactly where that is without going through the steps).
However, I picked up a silicone bumper for just over $1 on eBay. It's a universal bumper, so not meant for any particular phone. It covers the earpiece too. Can't see notification LED, but the only thing it affects relating to the earpiece is it's a tad quieter. Call quality is not impacted, just turn the volume up one or 2 more steps than usual. Of course, this case is a different material and may play with the acoustics a little differently, but I doubt it'll mean you can't hear callers. If you have concerns, wait for others to buy it and review it.

Relax. I emailed Tudia last week about the case and they verified that the images on Amazon were old and they they would remove and replace them asap. They further verified that the real case does not cover the ear speaker at the top. It's still coming. Here is their reply to my email.
"Thank you for contacting us with your concerns. I have consulted with our manufacturing team and determined that the images are in fact wrong. Rest assured, the case's design will have cut-outs for earpiece speakers. I have brought the issue to the attention of marketing team and we will be sure to update the images right away.
Again, I certainly do apologize for any confusion or concern caused. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions regarding our products."

The case is back up on Amazon. Says it will be released next Friday the 20th.

I did, actually She did but I picked the tab, of course.
ubreakifix work was impeccable, no way to notice it's been replaced. $120 Canadian and 30 min. I'm pretty much sure they source displays from manufacturer.

Good to hear from someone who got theirs repaired there. I gave them a call and they said that for all Google products they get all parts direct from Google.
I would normally repair this myself but being my main phone and something I just bought a couple of months ago, I didn't want to mess with it.
I am definitely ordering a good screen protector immediately and not waiting.

The prices on Ebay were not much lower than ubreakifix quote and most ship from China, so it was no-brainer to me.

Is the replacement screen a samsung panel or a tianma panel?

dropped mine over laborday... ordered a replacement from Fixez.com... came quickly and is a samsung panel. replaced it myself, but they sticky they sent was cut wrong and too thick, so its not quite as flush as it was. might go by ubreak and see if they can help me out. works fine for now though
