Can anyone point me to any market that DOES NOT show the NFC icon at the stautsbar even when NFC is enabled? I'm currently running the U.S. Model flashed with Central Europe bits(to have the fingerprint sensor enabled). I've done the fingerprint mod before on my Z5C but I forgot which market I grabbed files from where the NFC icon would not show up even tho the NFC was turned on.
EDIT: Forgot to add I have the dual sim G8142. Xperifirm doesn't list Noba or AU as possible firmware downloads.
If i'm not mistaken. It's Nordic generic firmware that has no NFC icon shown (on earlier Xperias). For XZP it's Customized Noba.
Australian build doesn't have NFC icon either. I was on a carrier firmware and thats what drove me to reflash as well

i have a sol26 for unlocking,i have got the codes for it through online server but i dont know how to enter the code, when i insert the sim card it just says no service and not showing any unlocking menu
Before making any manipulations in Flashtool be sure that "Unknown sources" is allowed in Security and "USB debugging" is on in Developer menu. Be sure that connection with PC is stable (USB is quite fragile on Xperia devices esp. with time, when flashing anything never interrupt connection) and the PC is always trusted on phone after USB connect.
In the Flashtool Xperifirm download same firmware that you have now (KDDI) but only for Docomo carrier Z3 version phone and install this completely. The last one is Lollipop 5.0.2 (if you are on Kitkat - you can upgrade by installing first KDDI 23.1.G.2.244-Lollipop 5.0.2). Before installing i recommend reset and erase all on device to factory setting. After you install Docomo version put the sim card and unlocking menu appears. I recommend using only Japanese OS versions - because you don't loosing the 32Gb storage, on european version the storage is only 16Gb.
After successful code unlocking the phone function will be open completely forever - so you can even return on KDDI (Au) firmware back and not loosing sim unlock. I personally returned because there's specific japanese neat features which is missing on Docomo version - 1) no Private manager in Security, 2) no Accelerated GPS by Qualcomm in Location and others specific things. Take out sim card and just install downloaded KDDI Lollipop, after all done put sim inside. There's quite serious difference between Docomo & KDDI in phone function - esp. turning off LTE or other data-hungry, it's harder to change 3G to 2G on KDDI - you will need to do that manually in network preference (on Docomo it's much easily in menu).
I think you can easily safe sim unlock and install here a european Android 6 version which is latest, but you will loose 32Gb storage to the 16Gb and there will be no more specific japanese features like Accelerated GPS - which very very very helping with speed of GPS determination (almost on iPhone level, i tested - without it the GPS works much slower).
If you on Kit-kat beware that this all will upgrade you to Lollipop where's no specific KDDI "Face unlock" function anymore, it's deleted in 5.0.2. I want to even return on Kit kat but can't find old firmware file anymore anywhere - the 23.0.C.0.350, i think you can save sim unlock even there, but without Docomo you can't unlock sim and the Docomo is only Lollipop too.
I used Flashtool 0.9.22.3 on Win 7.
So, i've tried a different firmwares after unlock.
The KDDI (au) which is most rich by features are not really usable because of fixed number prefix with calling every time. The sim card is recognized, it's ok, but the phone putting a prefix to every number you calling. How to remove that prefix i don't really know, no settings for that, maybe it's need to be rooted and manually do something with code.
there's other models of compatible Z3 firmwares with 32Gb storage:
D6616-USA old
D6646-USA Marshmallow 6.0.1
D6708-USA old
401SO-Japan Android 5.1.1
• 23.1.G.2.244 KDDI 5.0.2 - everything work except call - fixed number prefix. Even step counter works, from version 5 new charging optimization function like in all other Sony smartphones.
• same 5.0.2 Docomo - everything work, call is ok, but no special features like in KDDI, no privacy app manager, no Qualcomm express GPS.
• 23.0.C.0.350 KDDI 4.4.4 - same problem with call prefix, very good battery 8 days.
• 23.5.A.1.291 USA D6646 - 32Gb, NFC not working not tuned for japanese version, Call is ok (everything), GPS is very good & fast, Free Navigon automobile navigation app coming only with this firmware for all Z3 users (it works), step counter not working (Google Fit), bad battery showing - only 3-4 days, for multi-tasking need a root and little code changing (the function to use 2 app windows together is present here in developer but turned off by standard)
I'm not sure yet, but if battery will be really bad on 6.0.1 i will try 5.1.1 for 401SO model, where i think that NFC can work.
I deleted Marshmallow, too bad battery, only 3 days on one charge.
I was a fool, the 401SO firmware is also Lollipop 5.0.2, flashed normally but with some dancing of downgrading flashtool, it don't see this ftf even if you put it right, with flashtool back to version 0.9.20.
So, the only 5.1.1 for Z3 with 32Gb is only USA Verizon for D6708, but it's not flashing at all, some error with partition or etc. (i downloaded it by flashtool from Xprefirm).
There's a cumbersome method on japanese site to obtain OTA update for Docomo Lollipop to the Marshmallow, i'm too lazy to test it with all IMEI masking and etc. Standalone Docomo Lollipop even with unlocked SIM are not getting OTA update at all.
Other method which promised also root much easier and i'll try it - it's by putting on top of Docomo version the D6603 Global but with only kernel and system (appslog, cache, data wiped), so flashing 23.0.B.1.59 with 23.0.A.2.93. Not sure about result, but looks interesting.
Nah, i've flashed Developer Preview Nougat 7.0, the last one. Working quite good, sim unlock and phone works perfectly. The battery is good, people complained that it's bugged, i've noticed only like 2-3, the NFC not working here and storage only 16Gb, i want to test battery here, very good battery during screen off with that "Doze" function than Marshmallow like not spending a percent at all.
The Music app from Sony even installs here by Google store and it works, even equalizer work, no clear+, but with bass and surround.
It seems that even single SIM XT1650-03 comes with a double SIM tray if I don't go wrong...
(even if I don't know if with "hybrid" double sim/single sim+microSD or a full double sim+microSD tray...)
Anyway I guessed that in some way they could probably be enabled to full double sim by software since of a great software compatibilty between models showed by first tests...
Then I found this Moto X thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/help/enabling-dual-sim-single-sim-devices-t3225546 which seems to confirm my idea...
I don't see any good reason this shouldn't work for Moto Z too... :fingers-crossed:
It must only have to be tested/confirmed...
Only problem is that second SIM would work without a valid IMEI and this could block network access on some carriers... BUT on Play Store there are various IMEI changer apps which could be usefull to fix this issue (to be tested too...).
Any contribute to these tests will be welcome...
take a look at this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/how-to/guide-to-enable-dualsim-singlesim-t3594529
works fine on my German XT1650-03
I've tried to activate NFC and to read NFC Tags but no success - any suggestions how to do this - I've read that the preview 4 version has nfc enabled. Can it only be used for android pay or is it possible to read normal tags - e.g. the tag of a freestyle libre sensor which is possible on sony smartwatch 3 with modded package.
Are there new api's for usage in wear2.0 that must be used in the app to get the full nfc support.
thank you
regards

I've had the back off mine, to put the SIM card in, and I saw no NFC chip. There's no NFC in the specs of the Verizon or AT&T versions, either. I guess the NFC switch in Settings > Connectivity is for the new Google watches coming out.

The FCC documents show a NFC report for the Urbane 2. https://fccid.io/ZNFW200A
The Verizon site for their version W200V mentions "NFC HW capable" in the connectivity section. https://www.verizonwireless.com/connected-devices/lg-watch-urbane-2nd-edition-lte/#?sku=1830173
A recent article mentions Android Pay will be included in preview 5 next month. I wonder if they will activate NFC then.

FWIW, in the newest Android Wear 2.0 (v.4), go "Settings" > "Connectivity" and, below "Bluetooth", "WiFi", "Cellular" and "ATT Numbersync" there's a slider for turning on NFC.

Thanks. I haven't tried the preview but will be tempted once they release DP5, if Android Pay is included. I'll look for the NFC setting.
I also found a Chinese site that has teardowns for many devices, the LGU2 is included. You can see detailed pics and descriptions for all the parts. Pretty neat. You can select different tabs for more info and may need to use Google translate.... http://www.ewisetech.com/Device/SmartWearable/LG-LG-Watch-Urbane-2nd-EDITION-1-LTE(W200)_id2317/BOM

Yes - I have seen that switch and switched it on but if I leave the connectivity menu and go back inside it is set to off again and if I tried an app for reading tags it shows in the adb log, that there is no nfc active. My version is W200E 3G and I think this version does not have an hardware nfc chip. I've read the feature descriptions on different lg pages and once they say nfc yes once no and on anothre page the point for nfc is missing - so I do not know if the hardware has nfc or not

I haven't read about anyone using NFC yet. I think the chip is in all versions but maybe they haven't activated yet, at least I hope that's the case. I think we should have an answer next month with DP5.
This article says the Urbane 2 WILL BE a beneficiary of the new NFC uses... https://www.techmalak.com/two-googl...confirmed-for-release-next-year/#.WGK2Br1OnqA
Has anyone else noticed the NFC refuses to switch off, since Android 6 already.
Never mind what option in settings related to NFC I tried, always stays a dull / softer blue of other active options like sync or gps ...etc ...
In NFC settings menu, the on off switch is grey and locked to only on, so either my phone hates Tmo firmware or they have a bug they refuse to fix.
I flashed old, new, emergency restored with smart switch, tried G930U Tmobile versions and today just snapped. Talked to Tmobile and they refuse to accept they have firmware issues.
I tried other firmware and the NFC works perfectly in those firmwares.
Given that Google removed it from android 10 but was working in some of the betas, is there any way to renable this on the p3?
Have you tried *#*#4636#*#* ?? I think you can enable it in there
Read this somewhere else. Dsds toggle works but no options for esim, Google removed it since OB5. Try custom ROM maybe?
