Hello, i read this device has forced encryption fist and i read we can disable it. But then, can i get the "regular" encryption that'll give TWRP the ability to decrypt & access device root/mmc? If not then i should consider another device..

No it's not. None of them have the kernel source code in them.

Yeh . Still no kernel source
Very good news, Xiaomi finally has released kernel sources:
https://github.com/MiCode/mi2_kernel
https://github.com/mitwo-dev/mi2_kernel/tree/android-4.3
How do I get that to happen? On stock took I mean. Can't find the setting..

Search your settings for "Secure Startup"
On stock ROM* typo.. I did look for this but there's no such entry here...

If you're rooted it disappears from settings
There must be a work around to get into that menu..?

Yea, flash stock again / unroot
That's not what I meant. I do not plan to stop using root.

You can't have both
It's just access to the menu that's blocked, not something in system, isn't it..?

Not sure, never rooted my S7 so not investigated it, but I would doubt even if you managed to access that setting, that secure boot would work, it might rely on the same things as banking apps etc, SafetyNet I think it's called
Could try hiding root with Magisk if you can find the correct process/service to hide it from
I would need to know the process name first, there are just too many.. Also, I don't use magisk. However I have rootcloack. Or whatever it's called..

In the 21 months I've had the S7 and been active on the XDA S7 forums I haven't seen anyone gain access to that menu while rooted so you would be the first I think, so looks like it would be down to you to find the workaround and post a tutorial if successful
I guess I should forget it.. But can I get an equivalent camera app if I move to AOSP?
Sent from my Redmi 3S using Tapatalk
No, you need a TouchWiz ROM for the Samsung camera app to work, AOSP does not contain the framework or drivers to run the camera correctly so the result is much lower quality photos with 3rd party camera apps
By the way, the fact that I can't restore a twrp Benito without having the system to crash is linked to having root again..?

Benito?
Make sure you wipe data and system and cache before restoring TWRP backup
OK.. But TWRP is doing it for each before restoring them..

One noticeable difference of this are the chinese bloatwares are gone and gps toggle is in the quick toggles. In chinese miui10, it wasnt there.

Does Redmi Note 7 Pro has "A/B" partition or "A-only" ?
How do you check this?
Sent from my Nokia 6.1 Plus using Tapatalk

Did all the steps from installing the drivers manually and updating MIUI , as well as enabling developer mode with OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging. And yet , it still cant find my device. Hoping someone can help. I also installed this on my c drive and I am running Win10.
