Hi!
I've been trying to boost my volume with changing values in mixer_volumes_FRD_ce with both solid explorer and with root browser. But I always get the same problem and the problem is that it says I can't do it in read-only mode but when I've booted into twrp I've deselected the mount system as read only. Another problem is that I can't change values in the under mixer path because it says I can't do it under /vendor... I'll gladly take any help or suggestions ... Stock rom btw
I don't know about the last part but if you are using some kind of system explorer you must enable r w (read write) in it.

Need more information.. What base are you on? 1.55.605.2? Which kernel did you flash? What mod exactly are you trying to do?

Yes you can check by going into settings>aabout phone>software information>software number. If your on Cleanrom v1.1 it will be 1.55.605.2 which is the latest base. What mod are you trying to do by editing your default . XML? There are a lot of things you can tweak in there.
Also, Cleanrom v1.1 has system r/w enabled by default. So you didn't need to flash that kernel to have it.
"Pre Rooted with SuperSU and Busybox pre-installed
Writeable /system partition
Unsecured kernel with ADB remount capabilities"
My advice would be to re-flash the rom, or restore a nandroid backup to get the roms stock kernel back. You could just dirty flash the rom and only wipe cache and davlik. You should be fine.
But once again, what mod are you trying to do in your default.xml? It may be I can help you sort it out, or at least tell you why it's not working.

i would just like to write to system for future purposes for the mean time i used adb to pull the default xml then i modified the file on my pc to enable harman kardon and music channel then went to recovery mounted system and pushed it back its just a pain seeing i can't write to system when i want to yes it says 1.55.605.2 so i should be able to write to system and you suggest a fresh install? or should i just pull the kernel image out of the rom zip and flash through fastboot?
CleanROM has this capability without any 3rd party kernels or other modifications. I use ES File Explorer on a clean install of CleanROM 1.1 to write to the /system partition. You do need to enable R/W permission in the ES File Explorer app by clicking the upper left icon, going to Tools, enabling the toggle for Root Explorer, clicking on the words Root Explorer, clicking on Mount R/W, and enabling RW permission on whatever directory you want to.

Why not make a copy of the files you want to edit... fix them up how you like.. then copy them back into place using file explorer function of TWRP (make sure you mount system).... OR put them in a flashable zip template and flash them. The changes will stick. You are likely trying to change files in use.

Hi guys,
I've just installed CROMi-X and loving the Rom (even tempted to try CROMi-kk soon!), but I wanted to increase the heapsize on the ROM. I've installed the VM Heap Tool to try and do it from there, but after the reboot it mentions, it remains at 48m. I've tried 60m, 64m, 80m but nothing seems to change it from 48m.. anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?
EDIT: I can open the build.prop file and change it there, but it says I can't change it as it's a read-only file system even though I have root access. Any ideas?
EDIT 2: Needed to enable root settings in ES File Explorer and change mount settings to R/W: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1948558
Cheers!

You got to change permissions of the file to allow r/w before changing it.

Im trying to replace my keyboard sound in however it keeps failing even its already RW and set same permission in stock sound file. Help
Did you root your device?
Yes, my device is rooted.
Did you use a filemanager like root explorer? i think this behaviour is normal, but it should be possible to set different permissions

I have mi 3 and redmi 2 in which i have flashed custom ROMS. I want to change the model name on both but editing Buildprop is not working. Any idea where these old Androids are picking up the details like model name?
you are editing the build prop with root ? also changing build prop permissions ?

Yes, I am doing adb shell and su to root before trying, it seems to change but after reboot its values do not change. I also tried Magisk resetprop and still dont work
As long as the partition where build.prop file is housed isn' t mounted as RW it wont work.

May I know how to do that?
Mount the system partition in twrp, open terminal, try out setprop .....is this what you are referring to?
You not mention version however Version isn't matter in custom
But the important thing is mount rw
I am still stuck, I have tried mounting system as rw and changed values still don't work, i even tried magisk hideprop that too didn't work. Any help please
lol i even get rw but when u edit prop it,ll become emtpy
