[Bluetooth/Connectivity] Oneplus 5 can't find car audio system - General Questions and Answers

Hello guys,
I have a OnePlus 5, and my car is a Renault Clio IV, 2015. My phone can't seem to find my car via bluetooth, nor the opposite. I tried restarting both and both are visible, and my car still has slots to fill with devices, so that's not the problem.
My questions are:
1- Is that software or hardware related?
2- Can I do anything about it?
3- Do I need to wait for an update from OnePlus?
4- Nothing can be done?
I read that there are bluetooth profiles and so, I was just wondering if I could do anything about it, because it's a pain if I could not connect my phone to my car.

Anybody?

Bluetooth issue in car

Whenever I connect my phone by Bluetooth to my car's stereo, only the front speakers work, nothing from the 2 rear speakers. I've tried adjusting the fade and checking settings in poweramp but still nothing. I'm not sure if this would be an issue with my phone, the ROM, or the car audio system. I'm thinking it's an issue with the car's audio but I figured I'd ask here in case somebody else has had the same issue. I am on liquid smooth 3.0 April 24th build with elemental x kernel but I had the same issue with my galaxy s4

I have no problem with nexus 5 and my car Bluetooth connectivity.
Make sure that your audio system, GPS and make and model are compatible with the bluetooth from the phone. Some other connectivity issues are that the car kit cannot decode the Bluetooth device that it is trying to connect. This decode means that the system cannot recognize the name. This is a frequent problem when devices have been upgraded. While your system may have worked fine before, upgrades can cause problems because the compatibility all of a sudden changes. This is an issue that has not really been addressed by the manufacturers.
Another frequent problem that can occur is that the Bluetooth will connect but then it will not stay connected and only one speaker is running,. Many times this can be a hardware issue.
So the bluetooth device can connect but it does not work properly. In this case there is an issue with the stereo connection to the Bluetooth unit. There is nothing actually wrong with the bluetooth or devices but this is a software issue. To fix it see if the manufacturer is offering any updates. If one person has had the issue then you can bet that many people will have the problem. This is a problem with the car kit software as no matter which phone or earpiece you use the audio will not play from the speakers. Check that the vehicle supports bluetooth audio as some only will support bluetooth phone calls. These are 2 very different things.
Most of the time, look into the settings for the bluetooth and the car system. If the car battery should die then the system may reset to the defaults. This means that all of the current settings will be lost and need to be reset. Not only will you need to check the settings in the car system but also in your phone or other bluetooth device. In order to correct the bluetooth settings the device will need to be connected to the computer.

I have an aftermarket Kenwood double DIN deck with Bluetooth 2.1. It connects perfectly fine, shows up with Nexus 5 when pairing, shows the song title, shows the name of the person calling... It works great when plugged in through the aux port, but of course doesn't show me any information that way. When I had the S4 it showed up as SGH-M919. It stays connected just fine and I had it playing for a while before I tried turning up the volume and noticed it didn't sound right and figured out the rear speakers weren't playing.
I just checked and noticed there is a somewhat recent update on Kenwood's site but it was still about 3 weeks before I bought the deck... I'll try doing that though. (edit) just checked again and the update isn't for my model, there's no software for it
Thank you for answering since I'm pretty sure now that it's a problem with the stereo and nothing to do with Android lol
Kind of embarrassed to admit it but...I did have Car Toys install it so... they probably didn't do a very great job. I knew I should have had either Best Buy do it or tracked down a friend that could do it. Oh well

Bluetooth music issues.

Hey everyone. I'm having a very weird issue. I just bought a brand new Kenwood touchscreen head unit for my 03 WRX and have had it in for about two weeks. When i was using my galaxy note 3, the phone would pair via Bluetooth and play music and calls flawlessly.
Now that i switched to the M8 o have the phone paired. It says paired on the phone and on the head unit. I can make calls, access my phone book, but can't play music. The Bluetooth icon on the phone has the two arrows pointing in and i know on my GN3 that ment media was connected as well.
Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue? Thanks for any help ?
I don't have a solution for you. However when you are pairing the two have you tried going in to the Bluetooth settings and actually making sure that phone and media are both connected? I figure they both must be with it having the two arrows, but just that way we can make sure they are for sure paired.

Yeah i tried that. I tried unchecking and rechecking. I wish there were more Bluetooth settings
I have the exact same problem on a new Kenwood unit. Funny enough my old Kenwood unit (very similar) didn't do this ever. I've found that turning on my phone Bluetooth after the head unit is turned on always gives me a phone connection only. In that case you have to cycle the head unit power. Turning the phone Bluetooth on and off doesn't fix it. I'm going to reset the head unit and if it doesn't resolve it then Crutchfield will be getting this thing back.

No 'Media' audio option available when connecting Bluetooth to car's stereo.

Hello everyone, new here.
I'm desperate, been fighting this issue for some days now, to no avail.
My S8+ connects to my car's stereo (Blaupunkt New York 830) but displayed only 'Calls' and 'Contacts', there's no 'Media' option under bluetooth, so there's no streaming of it either.
Other devices such as the OnePlus 2, Huawai P9 are working without any issues.
I tried the following:
1. Cache partition wipe.
2. Resetting the car's stereo to factory default settings.
3. Upgraded the firmware of the car's stareo.
4. Updated my phones software including Samsung Connect.
I then read about an application called 'Bluetooth auto connect' and downloaded it. On some occasions, it DOES connect Media when using it, but it doesn't work all the time, on most cases it just connect and shows 'Calls'.
Please, is someone familiar with this app or issue and can assist me on this?
Much obliged!
Can't help you but....

I have never had any problem with media and bluetooth on mine. I would check and see if you have the radio and phone discover able to each other.

bluetooth keeps forgetting device

my pixel 3 bluetooth keeps forgetting my car hands free system
i pair my devce as normal and for a few days a week at all is good the little phone icon appears on the honda display
then nothing
i go to the car system and it lists my pixel 3 as a stored device yet in the phone in previously connected devices the Honda HFT is not listed so i delete phone from car and rinse and repeat
i googled the issue and came across a similar issue on a different car brand and they suggested changing the avrcp version from the default 1.4 to 1.6 exactly the same infact ive tried all 1.3/1.4/1.5/1.6
i spoke to google via chat and they suggested network reset and delete and repair for and to report back if it happens again (which it has)
has anyone come across this issue before ???
i never had this problem on my my pixel 2 until it upgraded to android 9
im starting to think my car is too old for the software in the phone
the vehicle is a 2009 honda civic with factory bluetooth
as we never have an issue with the 2018 mazda we also own
as a last resort i am going to pair an old samsung tablet thats on android 5.1 and see how long that lasts as i dont think its the car system faulty as it remembers my phone

Have you updated to the Dec firmware? That has a patch for the Bluetooth issue.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yes December 5 it says on security patch level
It was working ok this morning on way to work but forgot the device on way home
So the Samsung tablet is still connecting as it should
I'll leave it a bit longer in the interest of science
Is it plausible that the Bluetooth version is too new for the car ?? I have no other problem with newer Bluetooth devices
Anybody have any suggestions
Tablet is still connecting as it should without prompt

xiaomi 10 lite connected with BT to car entertainment system, only noise during calls

very strange thing.
skoda car, i've used for 2 week without any problems the call when connected via BT to the car system.
but now every call i make or receive, both I and the responder/speaker, hear only a big noise.
Tried with another smartphone and no issue, but very strange if i connect the xiaomi to a BT ears no problems at all, if i connect the xiaomi to a BT speaker no problems at all...
I have already tried,:
-delete and reconnect the phone to the car
-reboot the phone
-manage the bt option on the phone, disable AAC and absolute volume
I have to try the xiaomi with another car....
any suggestion?
android auto isn't connected but it's possible that interfere with something else?
Many thanks

Hello. Any updates on the topic?
Let me add my story here too. The thing is- my phone is mi note 10 lite.
Here it goes. So, recently, about a week or 2 ago the Bluetooth audio stopped working completely on my device. I don't understand where to look, and how did it happen. The phone was global official rom, locked bootloader no root etc.
The situation is as follows : the headphones /car audio system can connect and pair. But there's no sound when you press the play button. Moreover, the Bluetooth works, at least I think it works also because I have a huawei watch connected to the phone. And I have notifications everything is fine.
So during these 2 weeks I tried to clear cache/bt and wifi settings (no need to tell you that my headphones connect and play music with no problems with other devices. Tried on my wife's p20 pro.) i tried to make factory reset. No results. Today I even rolled back on android 11 rom from 2021. Offcical rom. Sadly nothing changed. Everything works perfectly, except Bluetooth audio.
Have redmi buds 4 pro and amazfit powerbuds. With my phone they connect but no audio. With huawei p20 pro they connect and work how they should. Also they have no problems with my mi tab 5.
Don't know what to do.
