I have been using lineage OS 14 jgcaap ROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/cyanogenmod-14-0-t3464337) from few months now.
Yesterday, my phone battery died while I was out. When I tried to boot it again after charging it is stuck on lineage OS logo even though the phone is fully charged by now. I didn't install any app recently or do anything with system partitions.
I went to twrp cleared cache, dalvik and system. Reflashed the ROM but still bootloop. Then I backedup data partition and cleared data as well. This time phone booted properly. So I restored data partition but then again it went into loop. Now if I clear the data partition the phone boots but if I restore the data partition there is bootloop. But I have some important data in messages, offline note taking app and whatsapp which I don't want to use.
Is there any other way to boot with all data intact or Is there any way to restore data from twrp nandroid data backup after I boot with cleared data?

Replace battery.
My battery lasts more than 25 hours, and even if I connect my phone to the wall plug it stay in bootloop. The only Rom that gave me this problem was RR.

You mean you don't have this issue when you flash other rom? That's quite impossible. This issue is of battery only.
With cm13 this issue doesn't appear
Repalcing the battery is the only solution....

Strange.Anyway, your best bet is replacing battery.
Is there a way to enable the bootlog?
I have a quite similar issue: yesterday i restarted my Opo after activating Xposed and after reboot, the phone stuck in the lock screen (nothing works, touch ecc...). I've done a Nandroid with TWRP and after that i've made a wipe data (data partition only): now the phone starts and works as well, but if I restore the data partition it stucks in lock screen like before. Is it a battery problem too? I can upload the dmesg.log if needed.

Been running CM10 and CWM 6.0.1.9 for ages with no issues and loving it. Yesterday morning (while on vacation) picked up the tab from charging and it was boot looping. Tried formatting cache and Dalvik cache as 1st attempt to fix and it reboots when trying to format Dalvik cache, regular Cache deletes just fine. Next reflashed CM10, but still boot loops. Started manually formatting partitions and when I get to Data it reboots.
So this sounds like Brick Bug, but shouldn't be since I'm on CM10/CWM6.0.1.9 and wasn't wiping when it occurred.
So questions for the braintrust...
1) Is there anything I can do to fix this while on vacation when the only PC I can access is Windows RT? Basically it needs to be something I can flash with CMW.
2) Assuming #1 isn't possible, my next step was to try flashing a stock rom when I get back home. Make sense or other thoughts?
Thanks,
Todd
try removing your ext sd card and boot it up. See if that helps. If not, I'd Odin the stock ROM
I have experienced this too. My fix was to delete data after reflashing CM10. I tried just clearing cache and dalvik like you did but it continued to boot loop. So I flashed CM10 because I was at school and it was all I have but it was still stuck and so I cleared data at CWM(Didn't flash CM10 again anymore). And yeah, it pretty much deleted everything, but I had a backup at home. It was fixed.

Thanks. Formatting data causes a reboot, so I think I'm stuck until I get back home and can use Odin.

Hi all,
I have been struggling with an issue for several months. Everytime I restart my phone the phone boots to my ROMs lock screen freezes and reboots again. Sometimes I can get my pin entered and sometimes not. Even if the phone unlocks it freezes and reboots shortly after.
I have had this issue on every ROM I have tried (Exodus, Euphoria, CM nightlies). I am currently running fastboot flashed stock COS 12.1, no root, stock recovery. My modem is current and I don't use any battery saving apps.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

When flashing are you wiping properly (system, data, cache, dalvik cache)? Flashing the stock images with fastboot doesn't wipe data so unless you wiped data with TWRP first that hasn't happened and could be causing your problems.
If after trying wiping data it still doesn't work. Upload /proc/last_kmsg (dmesg from last boot) and the logcat.
Maybe we can find out what's going on by looking in the logs.

I didn't realize that flashing image files didn't completely overwrite the partition. I did a cache wipe today but it didn't seem to work from the stock recovery.
I have data encryption enabled BTW...

Just a quick update... I took my OPO all the way back to stock using OnePlus's patch files that @Heisenberg re-posted. I did this after a full format of all the usual suspects. I then updated via OTA all the way to COS 12.1.
Prior to installing any apps I started experiencing the "double reboot" issue. I then erased and flashed both the persist image and reserve4 image.
I have since rooted, flashed twrp, and slowly begun to rebuild and test COS 12.1. So far no double reboots (which will now start to occur since I said that).
Admittedly, I don't completely understand the persist and reserve4 roles being played in all of this...

After a clean flash, the phone worked smoothly for a whole day; but last night it restarted and began to reboot and lock on the unlock screen. (After the clean installation, I restored the apps and data via Titanium and the old Nandroid Backup). Now I'm installing a new rom, I'll see if the problem persists. Have no idea how this problem occurs.
First of all: I made a thread about bricking my Moto G earlier, but since this is a new issue (and a new Android version) I thought it would be better to make a new thread
So as some of you might have noticed yesterday there was the first release of CM13 for the Moto G and if you had nightlies enabled (like me) you'd just get it as a normal update, except for having to install the new Gapps of course. The problem is I didn't notice that it was CM13 until it was too late... First thing that happened was of course that my Google Play Services we're not working anymore. I tired flashing Gapps for 5.1 but it said that I used the Gapps for the wrong Android version. So I looked in the settings and noticed that I had Android 6.0 . Now I tried flashing OpenGapps for Android 6.0, which worked, but as soon as I booted Android it told me something like "Setup Assistant stopped working" over and over again, so I tried reverting to my latest CM12.1 backup I had, which was a bad idea... My phone was stuck in a bootloop and everytime I tried wiping my phone (except for internal storage) it rebooted when wiping data. Reflashing TWRP didn't help, so I tried flashing stock Android with mfastboot and it got to the point where it was optimizing apps but after that it just did the same thing again (classic boot loop).
Here's my question: How can I get TWRP working again and install CM13 (again if possible without wiping my internal storage or at least being able to back some files up) ?

Yes I can, flashing and wiping works, except when trying to wipe data
Then don't wipe data?! Wiping data isn't necessary every time!

Guys i have a similar problem here, i got the latest update downloaded (cm-13.0-20151207-NIGHTLY-peregrine.zip) and when i clicked on update, the phone went black and nothing work now, i cannot get into fastboot or anything else, it only show "qhsusb_bulk" when I plugged in to the computer, any help??? i would really appreciate it .
Something happened to my phone and I succeeded to flash it all new with Android 9.0 which I was on.
But when I try restore twrp backup (data and/or System) I always end up with bootloop.
Tried to reflash Magisk too but doesn't help.
Bootloops right back to TWRP after 2 minutes.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get my data back from the twrp backup?
Tried to official twrp and bmu_sparks.
Thanks.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. If you still have access to TWRP, enter it and wipe everything and install newest oxygen pie zip. TWRP is broken for our devie and backups cannot be trusted I'm afraid. Wish I knew this before.

After restore is complete do not reboot, try the following, it might work,
1-Do not do any wipe,
2-Flash exactly the same ROM which is backed up,
3-Flash twrp,
4-Reboot twrp.
5-Flash Magisk,
8-Reboot system,
In case you are trying to go back from pie to oreo you have to flash roll back rom.
All the best, hope this helps., cheers.
Have tried all that with no luck. But if I do a Factory reset any time after the data restore the phone works but then I dont have any data
This sucks big time.
Have installed all from scratch. Luckly fastboot was working all the time
Some data I could restore with Titanium Backup but not so much I needed/wanted.
Too bad we cant rely on TWRP and its backup/restore feature.

Using TWRP backups on this phone is fun but not impossible. This process works for me.
1. Store backups on something other than the phone (I use an OTG card reader and 128 GB SD card)
2. Use a Fastboot Rom of THE EXACT SAME ROM as the backup and let it do it's thing flashing the phone (it will also wipe the phone in the process, which is why you need to store the backup elsewhere)
3. Boot up the phone and go through the whole process of setting it up. Don't worry about installing all your apps.
4. Install TWRP and Magisk if you used it on the backup.
5. Now restore your TWRP backups - just restore system, data, and boot.
I have done this at least 100 times and it has always worked.
I presume the fastboot rom is not only gonna wipe the internal drive but will also lock the bootloader, thats a lot of hassle to do every time you want to restore, but thanks for your suggestions, cheers.

The fastboot rom wipes the internal drive but DOES NOT lock the bootloader. Besides, I haven't seen or heard of another way to use TWRP backups without decrypting the phone, and I have security concerns with decrypting the phone.

Yes I tried. Without the fastboot rom to reset everything that stupid encryption bites you in the butt.
Yep. I just restored an entire nandbackup, and now my phone boots to a quailcomm dump screen only, can't fastboot into recovery or anything. Guess my new plans tonight involve fixing this thing.

Hey guys,
I have a oneplus 6red rooted with magisk and twrp running oreo 5.1.11, today I decided to enter twrp and reset my phone by whiping dalvic, cache and data.
After reboot, phone screen is totall dark but the light indicator was flashing constantly, entering twrp is no succes, twrp screen is stuck like more then 10 mins. I believe that I cant enter twrp to do something about it. I have downloaded the stock 5.1.11 which is an oreo version
Did I do really something wrong ? if yes or no please let me know how to fix this.

thnx, I entered into fastboot mode, then from my pc I when into the fastboot folder to open cmd and boot twrp from there on my device, from there I followed a tutorial how to adb sideload and flash a rom from your pc. Now its working

This may be a side effect of A/B partitioning and no longer having a recovery partition. Remember TWRP is a part of the boot partition now

Its the easy answer, say that you wiped system or such.
If you wiped Data with Magisk installed, without flashing the stock kernel, you won't be able to boot, since Magisk stores stuff necessary to boot on Data.
Usually, people is stuck on a infinite bucle on TWRP after this, you couldn't even enter TWRP? that's new. The issue you're telling sounds like you changed slot in TWRP somehow to an unused one or something like that, never heard of that.

Yeah I have wiped data in twrp with no issues. TBH it just sounds like there was no system to boot into. Wiping data is just that and shouldn't make the phone unbootable. Also you fixed the issue by flashing OOS which makes me believe this also. If you want to factory reset your phone the best way is to do it through settings.
