No 4G / LTE
Using RR and Linage 14.1 I haven't gotten 4G /LTE yet, on here trying to do some searching why. And this is the only phone that it i alow tethering for both USB and BlueTooth to share internet with other devices it drops from 3G to 1x.. Not sure if that's Verizon or what but this is new i havent seen this before, I would have thought custom ROMs there would be a way to show it as regular phone data to Verizon.
Poor LTE connection and cellular standby battery drain with custom ROMs.
I'm also experiencing poor data speeds on all custom ROMs using T-Mobile in SoCal. Only the stock ROM works well for me data wise. Too bad too, the stock ROM has really low speakerphone volume. Makes me want to get a new phone. ?
Average. May be?
I'm using RETIN, and currently living at Russia.
As far as it comes to coverage for supported frequencues its awesome.
Speeds for 3G data are almost around 1-1.9 MBPS.
For 4G I see speeds 2-2.2MBPS, no significant increase as frequency not supported as of Russia.
When it works, its fantastic but stability is very poor
I assume its either poor drivers or poor carrier support
I get upto 60mbps easy
Tested in India(Jio,Airtel,Vodafone,Idea) as well as the US (AT&T)
Doesn't seem the most stable.
I have tried all big 3 carriers around the metro Detroit area now, and while all have been tolerable, none were/are perfect. I was getting the fastest test speeds on average with MetroPCS to be honest (but it had very limited coverage up north). Cricket Wireless (At&t) honestly maybe was the most consistent with the speed cap they implement being tested all over, but the speed cap got old for the money. And then there's big red "the nations best coverage". I am on Verizon prepaid now and I honestly think it has the most average LTE connection everywhere I go (which maybe isn't always a bad thing?). Verizon is usually working as it should be wherever I am, but I still do get random drops for a second once in a while....and I seem to not be able to speed test as fast as some co-workers with Verizon standing right next to them in the same building. So my final conclusion is I just think the reception from this phone in general may be just average, but hey...it's a $300 phone!
P.S. I am on stock rom 7.0 in the USA (and all test comparisons are real life usage/comparing cellular strength in the battery tab under settings)

Did you confirm that your APN settings are the same on both ROM's? I know that having wrong APN settings can affect data speeds on AT&T and probably Tmobile also.

I get excellent data speeds, when I'm on the right towers with AT&T, some of their network is really bogged down in SoCal. I also roam in Mexico, and along the coast of Baja California, where their networks are built out right and not over-saturated I can easily get upwards of 45+ Mbit up and down! The beauty of having AT&T on a device like this one, I can roam on Movistar, Telcel, and also AT&T Mex when I'm in Mexico. I just wish the US version of this phone had dual-sim. Moto, if you're listening, you need more US models (that support Tmobile's and AT&T new LTE band (12, 71, etc) frequencies they are rolling out, but also dual-sim capabilities).

Can somebody please help me figure out why I am getting poor XLTE speeds? In a couple different legit VZW stores I have played with the S6 and also G4 on display and speed tests there are pulling 75mbps down and even higher than that on a few tests yet my S6 doesn't seem to get any speed tests higher than the speeds I was seeing on my Galaxy S3......30-35mbps down at best. I also have noticed my dBm isn't nearly as strong as my S3 pretty much at all times. Driving right by a known VZW tower this morning I was getting -85 to -90 dBm LTE signal when with my S3 I would be getting -55 to -65 dBm LTE signal.
I am currently not rooted, running Build and Baseband AOC3. Will rooting make a difference? What about AOE2, is that build and/or modem significantly better? Also I currently do NOT have Advanced Calling enabled, will enabling that give me better speeds?
I apparently am missing something. This phone operates very quick imo but the antenna is a joke it seems., unless I am missing something incredibly obvious?
Any help on improving my speeds would be much appreciated. Thank you!
I hear you. I have been very disappointed in my S6 connection speed also. I am in 3g in a lot of places my old HTC DNA never was. I am also rooted running clean rom. So rooting will not help the weak signal.

It's ticking me off. Such a great fast device otherwise but the antenna blows and evidently there's no fix for it.
My understanding is that Verizon stores have a mini tower in their stores to shore what the network is capable of (or to get you to use their service) whichever way you look at it. However IRL the network has hundreds or thousands of other devices connected to each tower which slows down speeds dramatically. I live in a bigger city but I'm driving all day and when I'm home I have 4-5 bars but dismal speeds where if I'm in a smaller city I can have 2-3 bars and have great speeds.
I have Straight talk currently with Ascend Mate2, and I do enjoy LTE speeds as they are much faster and definitely more consistent than my old hspa+ phone. The allure of this screen size may make me want to change my mind though. Can anyone detail if this will worth with ATT HSPA+ network as (maybe what connections it can use on t-mobile as well)
Also a slight unrelated note, are there any phones this large or greater than 6.5/6.7 that work with US LTE or definitely going to be released in the US soon? I read somewhere the lenovo phab plus might be but only seen that in one article.
I have a DAV-703L variant of the p8max and can confirm HSPA+ working on at&t's network. No LTE but from my experience I have noticed any horrible slow downs since most people have upgraded to LTE phones so the network isnt as congested as it once was. Here is a speed test done inside my house during "peak" usage time in this area. Speed usually sits around 7-8mbps up but wanted to show a worse case scenario, but even with those speeds non hd youtube, web browsing, pandora have zero issues.
Can't configure hspa to work on T-Mobile maybe I should switch to at&t

As a dual sim user I'm severely disappointed. If you're using a single sim the phone works fairly well. If you use dual sims whichever one is not set as the data sim will be lucky to receive calls and when you do it is garbled and unusable. This is my only issue with this phone.
WiFi or data seems like stopping transfers(delay or pause)
Phone becomes a bit warm when using cellular data not so on Wi-Fi. Nothing alarming though
This is going to be an area I will be paying close attention to, I spend a lot of time in remote areas so I will be keeping my old faithful s5 in my vehicle just in case it doesn't perform like I hope it will
I used to have an iPhone 6 and I am weekly in an area where I can only get one bar with LTE. With nothing going on I regularly stream movies/anime. I have since went from the iPhone to zenfone 2, I could get a signal but only 4g and barely. So I returned it and I've now had the OP2 for a few months and at first it will pick the(stronger but not faster) 4g connection but by manually changing to "LTE only" in the hidden menu I get the same connection as the iPhone. Just need to change it back when done or else no phone calls.
Overall it's satisfactory as I am able to do what I want to do, would just be nice not to go through the extra hoops to do so.
For a phone I was quite worried about it's doing well so far, usually in my living room I'm at 1 bar LTE signal, the OPT is sitting on 3 bars.
Will still need to see how it performs in remote areas.
If you use this phone outside major cities in Australia, you will definitely need to be on Telstra.
Can't get any mobile data what so ever with any network other than telstra, even in major regional towns.
Not really a surprising discovery, telstra are the only real choice outside the capital cities in Australia.

Same problem I am facing same problem but difference in only it is heating up too much on Cellualr Data and Wifi both.
bad signal strength on oneplus 2
compared with my htc butterfly 2 and another low-end android, one plus 2 running latest Oxygen OS has serious connectivity issues. I compared the signals strength using same sim card in same location (including being connected to the same tower) and One Plus 2 keeps dropping the connection and has really poor signal strength. I have tried the *#*#4636#*#* and tried different network modes, but none of them are helping. Its a real disappointment that the basic feature of this phone is screwed up.
I have tried with CM13 as well. Any ideas if this is a modem version issue?
Phone probably due to metal frame have worse signal, for sure it has worse than my previous phone that already wasn't good on it.
Is there a work around to fix the poor network signal receiver of this phone? This is the great let down of oneplus 2.

Oneplus one too has weak signal, though it has no metal frame. Something is seriously wrong with oneplus phone signal receiver! The company should fix this issue once and for all instead of rolling out one software after another which didn't resolve the problem at all.
Hi guys recently I bought an unlocked g955u1 from best buy and am on Verizon. I've noticed that my cell signal has been reading a bit off despite doing the Verizon software update. My phone is almost always stuck on 3 bars lte according to lte discovery and the range of dBm will average -100 to as low as -108 which realistically should be 1-2 bars not 3. In the past the only time I've really saw inaccurate readings like this is when I've been on gsm carriers. It's not as much as a problem as more of an annoyance as everything works fine. My question is anybody know why it's reading so inaccurate?
The bars are more or less just approximate visualizations of the network strength anyway. It varies from carrier to carrier, as well as phone manufacturer. You're better off sticking with the dB display if you want a truly accurate reading. Imho.
I have a T-Mobile variant and have noticed the my DL and UL speeds are a lot faster than any of the phone I've had in the past. We live out from town and even on the Nexus 6 it shows 3 bars and on the S8+ I get all the bars and the DL speed on the other phones at my house are around 5Mbps and on the S8+ I get 17-20Mbps at the house now. In town it has gone up from 40Mbps to 55Mbps.
My ATT S8+ reception
While I agree that the dBm is what you should be looking at, I have noticed some funky things going on with my ATT S8+ in terms of reception. Using the same SIM card, placing the phone in the exact same place, my S6 Active has a signal strength of -124 dBm /asu 16/"In service" on LTE. The S8+ gets a signal strength of -113 dBm/asu of 0/"Out of service." To me this seems like the S8+ is actually getting better reception than the 6S Active but the phone is out of service. I also tried this same test in another location using a different cell tower. Same results, the S8+ gets better reception...but the phone does not perform as well. In location number 2 I have also notice the S8+ fish for better signal and switch from LTE to HSPA where the signal strength is -99 dBm but the asu is only 7.
Since I live in a area with weak cell coverage the S8+ is driving me nuts...I contacted ATT about it last night, will see what happens.
Also somewhat related:
I'm using a US Unlocked on T-Mobile, and I've noticed my signal dropping out in areas where I previously had great signal on my Pixel XL. My buddy (also on T-Mo) just got an LG G6 and had full signal when mine dropped out.
Anyone else notice a weak signal? If I flash the T-Mo firmware, will that improve my signal? Did I get a bad unit? I hope not as everything else is perfect, screen included.
i notice (with TMobile) that if i am in 4g lte, then move to area with only edge for a few mins, then back to the 4g lte area...my phone doesn't connect back to the best signal
only a reboot let's me reconnect to 4g lte

Device runs fantastically on T-Mobile network. This is Band 4 (20mhz) + Band 2 (10mhz) speed test. I haven't hit 3xCA yet but I know I will soon.
It's very fast. The image below I got yesterday but in areas I would get 25-30mbps I sometimes only pull 3-5mbps down and the upload will still be 15mbps. Kinda strange. But even at those slower speeds anything I do browser or youtube is instant. So not sure if the app is wonky with the OP5. I mean I shouldn't be able to stream 1080p YouTube content with 2-4mbps download speeds, but I do.
Does anyone use 3g instead of 4g? The problem I'm faceing is that it takes sometimes 5-10 sec before it starts loading the site when using 3g. This problem does not occur when using 4g. I didn't experience the same problem with my Oneplus 3
i have very bad reception with my OP5. At Places where my OP3 had 3G or even 4G the OP5 has E or sometimes no internet... Only at places like a forest or in a basement under an airport (where i work) but my old OP3 has great reception with the same SIM card. Maybe i use the wrong settings or wrong SIM slot?
dual sim inquiry
does the op5 has "Dual SIM Dual Active type" of cellular connection?

I experience exactly the same problem.
When I'm on 3g I can't load anything the first 10 seconds when screen is switched on. I have tested several SIM cards in my op5 (everything works fine with other phone)
It's extremely annoying
Best in class never experienced any problem.
In parts of Rajasthan where cellular reception is very bad, everyone runs toward me to have a call:laugh:

No I didn't... I guess it is a hardware problem but i don't wanna send it to OP so I live with it =)
Same here
Perfect on Brazil!
Carrier: Claro
Could be better, especially weak when on H+.
I've been using my OP5 since February when I bought a used one off of Swappa. I have found that I actually get better LTE in places that my N5X didn't get good signal (I had voice, but data was about as fast as 2G even though it was on LTE). Now, I get decent speeds in those same areas (higher end 3G probably akin to HSPA speeds).
I would give five stars, but the problem with the 3g network is awful. In my city there are no 4g/lte operators, my internet conection does not work, I have to constantly switch on and of the airplane mode, it's annoying.
