I lose about 3% an hour while I sleep. No other phone I've owned has drained that much.
I'm sure it's an app sucking the juice out of it.... I've restored it back to clean factory setting 3 times, after a few weeks it always goes back to about 3% an hour.
I uses Gsam battery monitor, but it shows nothing out of the ordinary other than: System, Samsux DeX (which I don't use), or the Kernel is usually really high.
I LOVE everything else about this phone, other than this.

did your mobile data is always on while u sleep? bcoz for me it drains only 3 percent after 7 hrs of sleep with mobile data off.
with mobile data 10% battery drain after 7hrs

I have the same problem, with mobile data ON...phone drains 3% overnight (8hours).
My old Samsung S6 drains 0-1% over night with cell radio on.
all draining apps optimized with brevent.
battery draining apps disabled with BK Disabler + some gapps services disabled
volte + wifi calling off.
gsam and better battery stats show no problems.
But Android Battery statistics show high cell standby drain.
I think it is a modem issue.
I have got an G950F with DBT Firmware

I lose 0.5% overnight.
Not per hour... but over the whole night.
No AOD.
Disabled bixby and all bixby services.
Disabled anything related to Samsung's voice services.

4% in 6 hours (bad lte 1-2, wifi on)

I lose 3% an hour too. I have an old Galaxy Note 3 on Resurrection Remix 5.8.3 (Android 7.1.2) that lasts 25 days on standby. It's the stupid LagWiz bloated OS!

I have the same issue.. even in day or night it drains 3-4% per hour with AOD off. on Power saving mode.
Not sure what to do.

I was having massive standby drain, even with Greenify, then I set up the phone with these settings https://www.xda-developers.com/the-...r-community-radically-improved-my-experience/ (see "Linked a screenshot) and uninstalled Greenify (read somewhere that it can get into a loop of auto hibernation which drains battery) and wow! from 4 to 5% an hour to 2% over 7 hours so am very chuffed!

Hi there, new to the forum and just wanted to share me experience of the standby drain.
I usually put my my phone off when i go to sleep, but afther reading this tread i wanted to test how much my phone drains over night...
AOD off , wifi and mobile data off, lost about 5 % on 10 h,so i asume this is pretty good

It is because of the android apps that is running in background. It keeps running if you are connected to the internet. If you checked which cause battery drains you will come to know that majority of apps are consuming too much power. It is better to install those apps which requires less space and don't updates frequently. Gaming Apps, Time management Apps, Fitness Apps, News Apps are updated almost everyday. So it is good to uninstall it if you are not using it.
I have seen many people who install so many apps but never used any which is not only uses the spaces but also consume the battery power.

I wish i can remap it into sound/vibrate just like an iphone or one plus toggle.

You can remap it easily, just use bxactions app, works well.

after i disabled all the bixby services, using bxactions doesn't do anything. And i cannot use control mode on bxactions too because i don't have windows machine unfortunately.

You need bixby home and voice to be active to remap the button with bx actions

i just tried, it's kinda hit and miss action. Perhaps i need to use control mode to get it fully working.

same issue. i got both the s8 and s8+, both lost 15% after 7-8 hours sleep...
after some normal usage the battery dies arround 5pm everyday... this is really annoying.
the battery is the biggest but the only disappointment on my s8 and s8+, hopefully this can be fixedby system patch on some day.

Turned off mobile data, my Z5c still drains a decent amount of battery overnight

http://imgur.com/X9PYY3Y
I took a screenshot of the drain. It was at 91% when I set it off and put it down for the night. When I woke up from my sleep around 7 hours later, it was at 86%. With mobile data I've been getting much more drain than that, like around 12%. I thought turning off mobile data would solve it, but something still seems to be draining it. What else could be the problem?
I have the same situation on MM, 1% drop per hour minimum. tried turn off data, set only HDSPA, currently installed wakelock detector and greenify i will keep monitoring.
I dont have any batt drops in LP, almost always 1-2% per night.
I tried flash stock .163 and now .185 for UE1 and for germany (im from poland) so roms are for my region. Clean install, dirty install, LB and UB, now rooted, the same situation.
For me battery life on MM sucks :crying:

MM battery was okay for me for a bit it seemed, but then the battery drain seemed to jump up a bit. On LP I was bit hard by the "mobile radio active" bug, and it's still getting me on LP, even back on my Z3c, ugh, it's really frustrating. Mobile radio still shows up for me a lot in MM too, I don't know, that part seems like a google/google play services problem, but this other battery draining that's happening, I'm not too sure, and looking at battery system stats, or using another app such as gsam battery monitor, I haven't been able to deduce anything, but if you see anything, please update us.

Here is mine ss, if You can help
I unplug charger at 00:19 with 99% battery, in morning aroun 5AM i have 93%
I don't have any screenshots but I've noticed that in the last couple of weeks (running stock MM), my battery is draining much quicker than expected. I use Tasker to control wifi / sync / other stuff but don't have it running like the old Ultra Stamina but my battery will now drain in 12 hours of normal use (not playing games, watching movies). Looking at GSam battery monitor, the phone radio is draining quite a bit and at no point has the phone entered deep sleep.
Annoying as I used to easily get 36 hours between charges.
since i upgraded to Android 6.0 I lose 1% per minute when the screen is on and I go from 100% to 0% in approx. 8 hours, compared to 1 day+ before.
Same for me :c since the update got less than 3 hour SOT , doze does not help me as i have my phone on my hands or pocket most of the time, it never activates
and i saw the 1% bat drain per minute or so while im on chrome ( i just use crhome, nor videos nor games, no facebook apps installed)

Even with doze, it doesn't work that well, cuz my battery still drained turning off network. Although, last night, I turned on airplane mode, and it drained less, only 3%, but I still feel like there's something going on in the background that makes it drain so dang much.
I almost haven't used my phone since full charge and see: Screen usage is very high, as soon as I turn on, it drops by 1% per minute. I haven't changed anything since MM update and before that I could (heavy) use my phone for 1day+.
I bought this phone cause I couldn't use my LG G2 for a full day anymore, and now I can't even use this new one for half day....

I fixed my battery extremely fast draining by uninstalling Facebook Messenger, now I'm back to 1 day and half estimated use. What happened with this app ? It wasn't battery consuming with Lollipop.

well, I have to correct my statement. If I turn off wifi and mobile data, standby drain is stellar!!! During the night, I can get no more than 3%
Can't say the high drain that I have if using the phone... something that got a lot worse after a year (when I got the phone)
When my pixel xl is in standby for 3 hours, my battery drains arround 15 -17%, and my phone always shows Charging Connected Device via USB notification like it is charging another device, even when isnt connected to charger.
I'm getting between 1.5% and 2% per hour drain while idle at night doing nothing, since Pie. OS doesn't report any errant apps. Greenify isn't griping.
It almost uses no battery in standby! It's like magic. In one night it may lose 1% if you leave it on.
although i get about 2 and a half hour screen on time, i get virtually no standby drain whatsoever (latest stock pie). went to bed last night at 39%, *10 hour sleep*, woke up at 38%. what i dont seem to get very often is notfications while i am sleeping until i use my phone again in the morning, something to do with adaptive battery or doze?
are you guys leaving the phone connected to a Wifi?
do you guys disable LTE/Data connection while on wifi on Dev Options?

I have a massive drain and phone gets hot lately even on stanby, i don't know what happened, didn't add any new app, still on pie.

I am not too pleased about idle battery drain.
Overnight, about 8h it consumes about 3%-5%. Sometimes more than 10%, if the device doesn't go in deep sleep for whatever reason..
If commute, it takes more battery (maybe sensors, switch to mobile data, etc).
About 20% in 9hours. wifi most of the time with about 1h hour on mobile data. And movement in pocket about 20-30mins.
My experience with idle drain has been good overall. Getting around 0.5% per hr
My idle drain is horrendous. I'm getting around 20% drain over night (7h sleep) with nothing enabled but WiFi. And that's with Greenify. I'm thinking of rooting and flashing the EX Kernel, but wanted to wait for an obviously outstanding major update before doing so.

Battery was good until yesterday, 8hrs SOT circa. Suddenly battery starts draining and can I barely reach 2,30 SOT. Any idea? No apps showed in battery page, the only app I downloaded yesterday was Textra SMS (Beta), but it's very strange that it can drains so much.

For me Chrome was a big culprit for battery drain. Try to delete the cache and the storage of the app. You can as well disable and it and re enable it. That should be enough. Anyway, Chrome is a battery hog. I am thinking about switching to Opera or Firefox. Any recommendation for browsers?
I use Firefox with the add-on 'Dark Background and Light Text'. I have it set to turn the background of all pages to true black.
2% over night (7 hours) pretty pleased. But it was even better on OP3 when the drain over night was 0-1%
I'm on RR with no GAPPS and lost about 1.5% in about 8.5hrs of not being used (sleep + getting ready in the AM)
I have TASKER, and have set airplane mode to come on 8pm - 3am.
Currently getting roughly 2-3% drain in that "airplane mode" time

What the? Do you have gestures enabled (eg: double tap to wake)?
In my opinion it consumes too much.. one time i got about 3% drain in about 8-9h idle with wifi on and no commute.
That's why i hate android idle drain. A never-ending issue.
SOT only 34 mins, 1h mobile data, the rest on wifi.
I've disabled gestures, location history, no google fit, etc etc
Not bad here. About .3% per hour overnight. So about 2% overnight. That's on 4G as I rarely ever have my phone on WiFi. I also have email at to push (2 accounts) and I usually turn off the sync stuff in my Google account. Things like app data, calendar, contacts and the rest. I just sync when I make changes like adding a contract I then toggle the contacts on then off kind of thing. No need to let it sync all day and night for nothing imo.
I just have that drain when location is set to "high accuracy". When its set to "battery saving" everthing seems fine.
I don't know what's wrong with my device/apps. Several times now i had a standby drain in around 7 hours of 30%+. I didn't plug my phone in overnight because of Dash charging, when I went to bed, the battery was at 37%. The next morning I overslept massively and completely missed my shift because my battery died over night. This is with airplane mode on during 75% of the night. The highest drain in battery settings was displayed for "Android System" with around 12% or so, but that was with the last day counted in. I feel like the battery drain stats in settings are completely unreliable...
Except from that I get normal battery life during the day though, although during the first few days standby drain was higher than screen on drain...

Yeah man you need to download accubattery or something to monitor the drain. That's ridiculous. And yeah I've been kinda confused about the stock battery stats as well. It seems to tell you nothing.
I have noticed a lot more battery drain since the 911 update a few days ago. I was getting 7ish sot now I'm under 5hrs. I'll bet I'm not the only one who noticed it though. It'll be fixed don't worry.

I had AccuBattery installed at first but it didn't give me any meaningful insights so I uninstalled it a few weeks later.
I normally only get around 3 hours of SOT, but I'm not into mobile gaming or YouTube so that is normal...
I notice significant drain in idle after the 4.5.6 update last week. Android system seems to be the culprit, but not sure what's process under this is actually causing the problem.
All radios on, and 2 mail accounts syncing.

I dont see any standby drain. When I keep data on (locaion, wifi and bluetooth off) in the night it drained only 2-3 % battery. with data off/location/wifi/bluetooth off it was 100% in the morning.
But I have a different issue, When I am using the phone, I see a drain now which was not there initially. Android system is draining most of the power. I usually used to get 9+ hrs SOT with 2 days usage. but now Both have dropped below to 1&1/2 day and around 8 hours SOT.. Tried all the things found on net, but it didnt helped.
Same things happens with after update. Before the update it works for 2 days but now a it runs for 1 & half day max.

I did the update too, so you think it caused by update? Is samsung deliberately doing it as everyone suspects of them doing that they slow down the devices or its just a bug they didn't realize?
Maybe it's a bug.
All tests are under airplane mode, no cell signal.
WIFI ON with "battery saver" OFF takes 0.5% per hour drain.
WIFI OFF with "battery saver" ON takes <0.1% per hour drain.
BUT !!!
WIFI ON and "battery saver" ON at the same time, the standby drain will up to 1.3~2% per hour.
I have test this for more than 10 times, trying to avoid any other cause.
Finally I'm sure that "battery saver" mode will cost more standby drain if WIFI is ON. ( yeah, that sounds ridiculous
But I don't know why.

The battery performs well when in use (discharges at the rate of 10% per hour Heavy Gaming 'CoD: mobile', which is quite good I guess) but when the phone is idle, the battery drains quite fast about 2% per hour and the battery discharges about 10-15% over the night.
Losing 10-15% battery is not normal for a phone at all, also 10% of a 6000mAh battery is quite huge.
This problem persists. Any help is welcome!
EDIT :
I have uploaded the battery usage stats screenshots on google drive, check the link. I turn off WiFi and clear recent apps before going to bed but still, the battery drains heavily 15% over 6-7 hours.
CAN'T share the link because xda won't allow posting URLs here as I'm new to XDA forum

How did you figure out the root cause? I am also facing battery drain by Android system after the recent security update.

New Galaxy S7 Edge overheating and rapidly discharging.

BIG PROBLEM
A brand new, fresh out of the box Galaxy S7 Edge [Exynos] (came pre-loaded with Oreo 8.0), merely 5 days in use is overheating (gets to 41°C) and draining its battery strangeley fast (about 1% every 4 mins whilst on 3G or LTE). No apps have been downloaded from the app store and there are only a few screenshots on the phone, other than that it's empty!
I first ignored the overheating when I set it up as by default it had been charging via fast charge so it was understandable. The first day the battery consumption was "ok" since it was just idle and i was bareley using it. The following day I connected to the wi-fi and I noticed it was draining the battery pretty quickly..almost 1 % every 7 mins even tho the screen was dimmed and most apps had been "optimised". I was also worried about the "cell standby" drain which was about 2% every 1.5hrs.
But things began to get out of hand when I began using the 3G connection to watch youtube videos, after just 8 minutes the phone became scorching hot to the point where I couldn't use it for a while. The battery percentage was falling ridiculously by around 1% every 3 to 4 mins, with the display on 40% brightness, apps optimised, background apps limited and all the other tweaks to save battery life being utilised. Location, BT, Wi-fi, NFC and auto-updates(GooglePlay) were all of and it was still getting hot.
Then I allowed it to drain completley to 0% but before that I disabled "fast charge" , it took 8 hrs from 2AM to around 10:14 AM to reach 100%...but this did not help the battery drainage as it was still the same as before. The cell standby reported 3% use in 12 hrs which is abnormal since other S7E( Nougat) users only got a hit 1% in 8HRS. I then came on XDA and saw that many other S7/Edge users that are running Oreo 8.0 were experiencing the same issue with no resolve... I have tried ALL of the following with not a single positive result:
1. Soft reset and wipe data cache partition. 》no difference made
2. Enabling "mid power save mode" to limit CPU speed and background apps . 》 still overheats and drains battery as before
3. Factory reset the phone (there was not much user data on it aside from 5 screenshots). 》did nothing to remedy the situation
4. Disabling any apps that might have been responsible for the overheating and battery drain uaing the Apps manager and the "app power monitor". 》no noticeable change
5. using the "Optimisine apps" option in the App manager
none of the above helped as the phone still gets very hot (when it is on 3G/4G data) and drains its battery much quicker than S7 Edges that were running Nougat a few years back.
AT THIS POINT I'M ALL OUT OF IDEAS AND YOU HELP WOULD BE GREATLEY APPRECIATED.

I recommend to update / flash latest firmware available.
Then install a battery stats app like Better battery stats (BBS), record an idle dump and post it in the BBS thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-2-2-05-oct-v2-4-betterbatterystats.1179809/)
There are some experts analyzing your stats and giving advices how to optimize your system to gain better battery life.
