Yes, I can confirm that with Nougat the battery life is worse than Marshmallow. If fact I had to downgrade from 7 to 6. Now with root, gravity box and greenify the battery lasts about 2 days.

I've owned ALLOT of androids, this is my favorite!!!
I must say that I've had many androids, even ones with 2.3Ghz Quad Core Snapdragons and 6 gigs of DD3.... When I got my Sony Xperia XA single sim, I never expected what a masterpiece this phone would be.... Asthetics... Gorgeous, solidly built, feels amazing in hand. Infinity type borderless display... Prefect size, big enough to watch Netflix but small enough not to be a pain for the diagnol thumb reach.... The 2Ghz MediaTek Octacore w/ 2ghz of ram handles anything I throw at it which I worried about but the 8 cores balace out the ram for a smooth snappy experience... The 13 MP cam takes amazing pictures AND it has a separate hardware button just for the cam.... Amazing....if I can ill include a picture of a flower I took The one negative is yes the battery life I'm on N... With moderate use is dying by 6pm...BUT I'm now rooted so I'm going to try and get Xposed w/ gravity box... Greenify etc... See if I can get the grade from an A to an A+..... Anyway.... Sony.. If your reading, bravo ladies/gentlemen..... If you need a positive review... I'm your man... Everyone else... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

FYI, people (in America) call a electric torch, torch or spotlight is a flashlight, too.

...about 100MB extra RAM and KEYBOARD!=p
and a flash is just a bright light for a short amount of time, whether it is generated by ancient one use flash systems or a led doesn't matter. It's just the LEDs on mobiles is usually a bad temperature (colour) and not nearly as bright as the simplest photo cameras.

I know about that but the flash is not a valid reason to upgrade from a Diamond IMO. The other reasons (extra ram, memory slot, better battery and keyboard) are better worth it but only the flash light (which stays lid, it doesn't flash) is not enough.
and TV out....
Lol!
TP has a qwerty keyboard, more RAM, TV out, and vastly better battery life, and its the bright camera LED that is your deciding factor? oh my..
HTC is stupid for having cameras this quality in their phones. Its a joke compared to Nokia or especially SonyEricsson... They whould make them better quality or simply leave them out...
I dont use the camera or the ridicilous flash this phone has, but the quality beeing this poor I dont see how anyone can...
the camera is pretty good. the flash isnt too bad. not sure what you're complaining about, cameras on phones will never be as good as normal cameras

HTC One E8 - First impressions: Premium device disguised as a mid-tier phone

I've had the HTC One E8 for just over a week now and I am thoroughly impressed. The device has a premium display and chip-set at a mid-grade price. The curved edges of the poly-carbonate (plastic) back plate makes this device easy to hold without losing its visual appeal. On the back you will also find a 13 MP camera with a single tone flash. The face of the phone contains a 5 MP Selfie camera, 5” HD display, and two front facing speakers. The “Boomsound” front facing speakers can push out a great deal of sound without losing any sound quality.

Another amazing feature of this phone is Sprint Spark. If you have not had a chance to try out Spark you might be blown away by the data speeds you will see. This was my first time trying out Spark and I could not believe how much faster it is then my cable internet speeds. Check out Spark availability in your area.

How is the phone after a few weeks of usage?
How is the battery life?
What is the Android version on it? Did it get 4.4.3?

The battery life is pretty good and typically lasts me the entire day. Also good to know that I am always playing with it so you might get way better battery life then I do. The US Sprint version comes pre-loaded with Android 4.4.2.

I have had my phone for a few days, and I have to say that I am impressed with the quality of this device for the price I paid.
Sound/speed is much better than my old Galaxy S3.
Multitasking is a snap, and I kind of like the HTC Sense UI.
Thinking of rooting this device, have you had the chance to root yet?

Many of us in India have rooted it, you can find the threads in the dev section and Q&A's also.
Running smooth, and yes , a great phone overall...
cheers.

Compare GS4 to Nexus 5?

I am on sprint and have a galaxy s4. I am happy enough with it.
I want the ability to leave sprint and be off contract with either att or tmobile.
I am worried about what I reading with battery life on the Nexus 5.
Can anyone comment on their experience with both he 4 and the 5? Pros/cons etc.
One thing I can tell you from my experiences is that N5 battery is way better than S4. S4 is a powerful device but battery was one of my reason to stay away from it.
My N5 blows my S3 away non battery life.
I had a s4 and i was disappointed with the battery life, the galaxy series never exceeded my expectations especially when they inside touchwiz it reminded me when i had the s2 and the complaints people had,
With amoled displays its ment to be more efficient but it drained so fast when in use, so i swapped for a n5 and even though the battery is smaller i don't need to charge it twice a day.
The n5 is a nice solid device to hold,no bugs to mention, just nice smooth vanilla android
My s4 could not connect to camera often, wakelock bug, reboot required, standby drain,no knox security or deterrents for unlocking boot loader.
Bugs varied from device you may not experienced these.
Thanks for the response.
I was going to get the 6, but that is just too big for me. 5 will be a keeper for a while and it can be used on Sprint ATT and TMobile.
Battery!!!

If you only listen to music, use social media and make calls, the battery will last a day. Now, if you start playing games and watching videos all the time on youtube the nexus 5 you will run out of power at the end of the day. I'm very pleased with my battery life, and with Android Lollipop promising better performance, you can't go wrong getting a nexus.
Funny, when I owned a s4, the best part of the device was the stellar battery life. My only gripe with it was the amoled screen (looked fake to me).

Battery didn't improve much from the S3 before it. AMOLED needs a lot of juice to get the brightness level usable though that has been somewhat resolved in the latest generation panels found only in the S5 and Note4. Hopefully the Nexus 6 was able to procure them and not stuck with last year's tech as the Moto X 2014 was forced to do.
The Nexus 5 blows away the S4 in everything. I set it to ART and it is much faster.
Spark on Sprint is 22mb down.
Very happy I made the switch. What a great phone this 5 is, kicking myself for not getting it a year ago.

A few questions to owner for a potential future owner :)

Hi guys,
I 'm looking for informations about this device, maybe you could help
Are you guys satisfied with the device so far ? Has it any flaws I should expect ?
How is it behaving with CM13 ?
About the fingerprint sensor is it really useful or just a marketing add-on ? Is it supported in CM13 ?
How's the battery lasting ?
Many thanks !!!

1) I'm actually surprised how well it performs and the premium feel is just awesome. no flaws on my end.
2) I'm not using CM at the moment but i heard other users say it's pretty awesome , maybe a screen rotation occasional bug but i wouldn't give it much thought seeing as you get daily and weekly official CM Updates
3)The fingerprint reader on the R7 Plus is definitely one of the best if not the best fingerprint sensor i've used so far , works extremely well , i use it as an app lock which is great and it feels nice too. Of course supported on CM.
4) This is where i'm amazed , you get a 4100 mah which is significantly higher than most other flagships , Android authority and GadgetMatch rated it as ''extremely excellent'' and in my experience it consistently lasted over 10 hours of screen on time , which is hands down the best of all devices i or my friends used.
Hope I helped and have a nice day , Oh and If/when you get it , also get this sweet metal case with it :

Actually the only fears I have are the size (seem bigger than my biggest device which was a galaxy note) and the kind of pink color ..

How does it feel?
Do you encountered any bugs ?
Smooth same to android 7.0, better battery and less of heat
So far got no bug as well
What about the camera? Did you notice any improvements? Should have now the same great auto-hdr algorithm as the u11 (+) I guess.

I'm really hoping there's an improvement in the battery life because my U Ultra barely lasts a full day!
My phone doesn't last for a 12 hour working day after the Oreo update. I am going to hate my phone.

It's typical for HTC... I've got A9 and after update 2 nougat got hugh battery drain - no fix. Htc10 updated to Oreo = worst battery life. And now UUltra.. I'ts time to say goodbye HTC...

Well I have same problem, but still on 7.0
I had about 4 hours SOT with android 7 and now only 2 hours with android 8.
No update ota Oreo for me
Nothing in France, European firmware, no news for me?
I'm very surprised that everyone is getting bad battery life and many are complaining about ram management. Take into consideration that this phone has a small battery for its display, not that it has bad battery life. -- I just recently purchased u ultra sapphire glass edition, which I believe has the same specs except for the sapphire display and 128gb hdd... For me it has been working very well indeed. No issues to report as of yet, battery life is not great but most certainly does the job given that it only has 3k mah.... Granted I have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day, but that's because I'm a very heavy heavy user. For me it has given easily between 4-5 hours of SOT... I use a lot of apps and most of the time you'll find my screen to be on... I send emails a lot, watch Netflix during my spare time in the office and play a bunch of games. Yes, I literally use my phone a lot... Specially for emails and Netflix. I think the phone is doing pretty good considering the battery size. Also, as far as ram management goes it's been doing very well for me and I'm surprised by the performance of this device. Overall, it's a very good device and the secondary display is awesome. I don't really need this phone but I was interested in the display and that is exactly why I purchased it to see how the sapphire really is comparing to regular displays, but this phone does keep up with some of the other flagships of 2016/2017 phones.
I'm currently on Nougat and do not plan on updating to Oreo. Why? Because I know the specs of this phone will probably not be able to handle Oreo really well comparing to nougat. I'm sticking to nougat where I know it's running well and smoothly, without any issues...
