Hi all.
I am missing the Android native VOIP/SIP call settings on my U11. By googling I found some very limited information about this, it seems that some users complained about these settings not being available on the dual SIM version of the M8.
First question: does anybody know if it really depends on the phone being dual SIM? Can any single-SIM user confirm that they have the settings? They should be in Settings >> Call.
Second question: does anybody know any solution? I know that there are many third party SIP clients, but I would be happier if I could have it in the native dialer.
Thanks!
I am not completely sure but maybe someone can do that.
I found a module in Xposed that can add sip setting in HTC m7 dual SIM.
you can access hidden internet call setting in dual SIM with QuickShortcut Maker.
in activity choose com.android.phone and then choose calling account.
in my phone when I want add sip account , unfortunately com.android.phone has stoped.
Please if you can test it.

Hi, thank you very much for the excellent tip! Unfortunately I also get a force close when clicking on "Internet calling (SIP) accounts", probably something is really missing and not just hidden.
It would be cool if that Xposed module worked, where did you find it?
Any other ideas?
EDIT: I googled and found this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766781
I believe the relevant part in the source code is the one starting at line 397 in this file: https://github.com/Falseclock/HtcOneTweaker/blob/master/src/kz/virtex/htc/tweaker/mods/Phone.java
I have no idea whether the same code would work today, but my feeling is that little can be done (apart from switching to custom ROMs supporting it, maybe).
this is Xposed module can add sip setting in HTC m7 dual sim phone.

Yes, I have also found it and added in an edit to my previous post, but thank you anyway.

Hi
I install ViperU 1.5.0 rom and in aroma installer choose default and everything works great. especially internet call setting.
if you not use 2nd sim you can enjoy native android SIP.
you must choose default and don't choose dual sim.
Ok, that's also good news, thanks! So it doesn't need any low level "conversion" to single-sim, normal custom ROMs can do it too. I would still expect the feature to work even in the dual SIM model, but it's good to know that this is possible.

3G Native calling is a feature that is missing from Android OS. Samsung & LG have done their own implementation on their phones to support it. The only device that I heard supports it in the HTC range is Sensation, but I haven't seen it in action.
Video calling on Android phones
Google is purposely not using native 3G video(non-data) calling because it wants to promote Gtalk, third party companies, and use of internet plans. Same with Sony etc. Extra revenue is their main aim.
But what's the use ? All other chat-apps offer video calling.
So google should introduce it by themselves in their new and old versions by default.
Hi Everyone,
I am using an HTC Sensation, with Revelation ROM (v 1.0.2). Today I decided to switch from Vodafone (Australia) to ALDI Mobile (Pre-paid SIM). I have successfully registered the SIM with ALDI Mobile, and I have transferred my existing phone number. I can also receive calls to my number as normal, however I am unable to access the internet.
I do not appear to be able to change my SIM Card Settings! When I pull down the curtain, and tap on "SIM Card Inserted - Tap to complete setup." the screen "flashes black" and then returns to the "Home Screen". The video below demonstrates the behaviour of my phone when I attempt to change my SIM Card Settings (this behaviour also occurs when I try to access my phone Settings using all available menu options).
Video of attempt to change SIM Card Settings
Furthermore when I tap and hold the Home button, in order to access recent Apps, I am able to select the "Select your Carrier" App, however tapping on it simply results in the black screen (momentarily), followed by the "Home Screen" (as shown in the video link). Here is a screen capture of the "Recent Apps", and it shows Telstra as the mobile phone carrier (which is correct, because ALDI Pre-paid uses the Telstra network).

I have used both a Vodafone & a Telstra SIM successfully in my phone before, however I believe at the time I was using the Elegancia ROM.
If anybody has any suggestions on how to change this setting, perhaps through a config file, they will be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Davo

Hi pal
So I watched your video and its definitely the app force closing. You could get a logcat to see what the issue is with the app its self, but first I would see if you have access to settings/mobile data/access point names/ and see what apns are listed. If you ask at aldi, or look online you should be able to get the mms/data apn for your network and add it manually. Once that is added your internet and mms should work

[SOLUTION] Factory reset provided the ability to select the appropriate provider
Hello Heavy Metal Man (and all fans of the METAL genre, i.e.: ME! Thumbs up to Metallica & Killswitch Engage!),
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. I performed a factory reset / wipe of my phone and when the phone rebooted I was able to enter Telstra as the Service Provider, from this point I was able to access the internet.
However due to the reset I was left with only the standard apps, as a result I decided to start again from "scratch". This took the form of installing ViperS, which now supports Sense 5 (outstanding, in my opinion - particularly given that the HTC Sensation is over 2 years old now, and it is still capable of running the newest variants of both Android and Sense!!!).
I now have a JB, Sense 5 phone, that performs very well. Thank you XDA, and all of your interlinked developers.
Kind Regards,
Davo
up the irons:good:
I was experience Err_Proxy_Connection_Failed error in chrome and no connection in some other apps while some of apps still connects to Internet when using mobile data.
I know it's gonna be an APN setting issue but everything looks good on the first look (I'm using AT&T)
However after further investigation I found all the ones that should be "not set" are set to plain text "none", which, of course, the system cannot connect to with url "none"
After I removed the fields, it back working. So I think could be a config parsing issue and I filed a bug on Huawei's forum
Also I had issue with Microsoft Authenticator which I posted the root cause and resolution here

Hello, just wrote a Chinese reply to you in your post, but it didn't show up. I want to ask you what version of the phone? Do you have an LTE network at att? I want to buy one for the TMobile network, I am afraid that the Chinese version is not compatible with the TMobile lte network, also can you use those Google apps?

I found your Chinese reply in my email, and that has been garbled. I think xda's email system does not support Unicode well. Anyway, I was able to decode that and yes, I'm using a Chinese version and I do have LTE network

Ok thanks
When inserting address in GOOGLE contacts app, you just type in a single line (part of) the address and the apps queries Google Maps to let you choose the address. Any way to enable something similar for SAMSUNG contacts app?
Any idea here, pls?
Samsung contact app is not that sofesticated. but if you add a post code or any part of the address manually then a map button allows you to use activate the default map app.
Maybe use Google contact to fill contact address and then swap to Samsung as default
Or just use Google Contacts which is the better app. I tried using all Samsung apps and found it to be too much of a compromise.
I use Samsung Notes and My Files, the rest are google apps. It sucks but it's the price you pay for owning a Samsung device.

Unfortunately using Google Phone or Contacts on Samsung is annoying if you have dual sim: Samsung allows three choices-
- sim 1
- sim 2
- always ask
I chose always ask because I need control yet when calling a contact for the first time, you are asked which sim to use but there's no way to set a default sim upon this first call: on my former pixel I had an option to check "always use this sim", which is missing on Samsung.
In Samsung contacts there's a handy feature to assign in batch a default sim for chosen numbers, in Google contacts you have to do this contact by contact.
Update: never mind, all of a sudden the option to set default calling sim is now present when I call this contact for the first time...
And also Google Messages behaves strange: when selecting a contact for the first time as destination , I am prompted with two numbers from this contacts, same numbers but one with space and one without

Can't help you with this one. I use Signal exclusively for messaging.
Hi
I have two questions concerning sim cards
1. In the sim selection window, with which the call will occur. Is it possible eSim make the first on this list? Now a physical sim card is the first (
2. Is it possible to somehow set the phone number for eSim? ... Just for a physical card, a number is present, but for esim no (
A1 physical sim
MTS eSim

Its in settings, If you are trying to make it the default sim. Also I had to get my carrier to set up my esim. They had to set the phone number and send me a code,QR code or manual input to get mineworking. (T-Mobile)
Both suggestions by @Loustsoul are valid and correct. You will need to get a scan code after you give the tech support person the IMEI of the eSim (it's on the box). They might ask for the ICCID also/instead. So Settings - Network and Internet-Calls & SMS - Calls and select your option, i.e. default or ask every time. However, if you are asking whether or not the eSim can show above the physical sim when "ask every time" is selected, the answer is no. At least I haven't been able to figure out a way.
@Loustsoul @bobby janow
Sorry for bad English, I must have explained badly
I already have an eSim in my phone, I just want to add a number to it (for display!). This feature is available for a physical SIM card.
Settings - Network and Interent - SIMs - Choose eSim - pen (right top corner)
And field - Phone number on sim
I can't change it =(((

Yes, that's right, that was the question.
Too bad =(
I noticed one thing in the system menu *#*#4636#*#*
A regular SIM card has UICC, eSim is missing
What is it and how can I install it on eSim?
Maybe this affects the display of the number
