phone restarting - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Huawei mate 8 nxt-l29 c185b190. Around the mid January I had root my phone. After sometime I had received an update. So I removed root using SuperSU but I had not removed custom recovery and had not relocked bootloader. Also during mid Jan I had by mistake removed all the data( factory reset) but it also removed the themes and the icons where like older version. When I found the solution to restore all this it said I had to flash SuperSU.zip and regain root and then go to droidth Huawei mate 8 root system. I was scared as it could softboot my device. So I didn't do it as I didn't have the guts. Soon solowly I started to notice that the battery percentage would stay the same for a long time and then it would go and change to a lower num er very quickly. As this occurred it kept on happening then couple of weeks ago I noticed that after 50% my phone started restarting once and then when I comes back it would say zero percent and then off. Then this happened at 90%. Also sometime when it restarts, the restarting loops until it's stops and shows 0% percentage and does. Do u have any solution for this? If you need more info about what is happening please ask

[Q] Restart loop(not bootloop) - really weird

Hey lads,
I got a really weird problem and I've tried nearly everything I can think of. I had EMUI 2.3(b121sp06) and I tried the online OTA update to b307 if I remember right(was automatically suggesting the update) and at the update screen it loaded to about 99% and then stopped. Said not to press power while on this screen but obviously it wasn't going to finish. So I reset the phone and it started the "recovery loop", so basically keep trying to apply the update. I had to flash CWM to break out and flashed the whole system by hand(recovery, system, boot, cache, cust and userdata img files) and it starts up but it keeps resetting and seemingly it's random. Android boots up, I don't touch the phone--> boom reset. Weird thing is it even does it in recovery.
If I really want to explain the problem it's like as if my finger got stuck on the power button(that naturally made me think that the button might be f*cked), but booting into fastboot and not having resets cleared my suspicion. What I also noticed is that every time it boots up it doesn't recognize the sim card and I have no signal or whatsoever.
Tried multi tool unbricking method -> doesn't work
Tried factory reset from stock recovery(had to be fast so it doesn't reset before) ->doesn't work
Tried wiping dalvik cache and factory reset from CWM ->doesn't work
Tried killing battery by letting it keep resetting -> battery drained, reset loop stopped ->put the phone on charger->reset loop started again
I have no f*cking clue how can I get out of this, will keep trying though. Any help is appreciated, thank you!
Hi
Did you try to remove the Sd Card ? Honor 6 reboot is often due to faulty SD Card.
Which model do you have ? L04 ?
B307 upgrade sure ?
Seb
Yes, that was my first idea, still does it though. I have the L02 and I'm not positive it was b307, but it started with 3, could be b303 if there is one.
I don't know for L02 but for L04 there is a Full ROM that you can flash with the three buttons method. (Vol+,Vol-, power and put the ROM in /dload folder on the SD card).
Maybe there is such thing for L02 ?
There is, but as I said the phone restarts even in recovery. It's like the phone restarts every 30 secs except for fastboot.
if it's not SD card or internal flash problem so, it seems to be hardware related to me (
Would make sense but it occurred only after I tried OTA. Would be really surprised if that killed that hardware :-/

Unfortunately not, I'm out of ideas, trying to negotiate with the seller to sort something out, I think the phone is beyond saving
Same thing happened with me. Don't have any solution. Have you fixed it?

Its might be a battery problem Or power flex cable. Try to turn on the phone during charge
guys im facing the same problem now... waiting for any solutions
I have tried stop & uninstall some app
I've tried as quickly as I can when the phone (nokia x) is on, then I stop> uninstall I consider potentially cause this problem (facebook, whatsapp, uc browser) and then it managed to prevent the continuous restarts. but problems arise even though the application had me uninstall and then I restart the phone. and it is back again, I uninstalled the app that has remained with the error settings and restart repeatedly. who knows what else : '(

In the past my battery lost it's endurance pretty much. Furthermore I've read that a defective battery causes lots of weird behaviours on our Honor 6, which was the same to mine.
In my case a replacement of the battery worked well, to get my Honor 6 back to life:

It's not that difficult and lasts approx. 30-45 mins. Spare Batteries are available for 6 - 10 bucks on ebay or directly from the chinese internet stores.

Still Reboots in Marshmallow

Has anybody been running into their phone rebooting with Marshmallow? Mine is still doing it. Already tried re flashing and clearing cache.

I am having the same issue. Random reboots.
I already install the 6.0 three times. one sideload and two fresh installs (full wipe + factory images). I even tried to roll back to lollipop and then update again.... same problem =(
device:
Nexus 5 - 32gb international + moto360
Sorry for my English.
I have the same problem with the Nexus 5 32GB D820.
Marshmallow clean installation ran smoothly yesterday, today began to randomly reboot.
I tried to make a factory reset and left in a bootloop.
I had to re-flash the factory image.
Let's see if it happens again.
Likely defective power button
My nexus 5 32gb is also randomly rebooting on android 6.0
The same problem with D821 16 Gb. 4 times clean installation. 1 time step-by-step installation for each part of factory image - no result. Random reboots.

What do you mean with faulty key? Faulty like hardware or faulty like software? Cause I have my Nexus for 1,5 years and had never problems with power button at all. The problem comes only with Marshmallow.
---------- Post added at 07:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:47 AM ----------
So, there is no full restart. If you press the power button for 10 seconds, the phone will restart and you'll hear a little vibration and see "Google" logo, after that Marshmallow animation appears. Faulty key can only cause full restart effect. But in Marshmallow I have only the shell restarts, i.e. the phone restarts with Marshmallow animation (not with vibration and "Google" logo) and this lasts 3-5 seconds. This is definitely software bug.
Are we talking about M, flashed with fastboot, and almost no user apps installed and no mods (root, custom kernel, etc)?
Because if we are, there are no random reboots.

Exactly. Flashed with fastboot, no mods, no root, no any customs. Only user apps. But you are right. I'm testing all my apps and I've found 2 weather apps. They probably caused the reboots. I'm not sure about it, cause I'm looking into all my apps.
its not a defective power button.
I roll back to lollipop and the random reboot stopped.
I did another try with marshmallow, this time with sideload installation and full wipe after. At the beginning i get two random reboots, but now it seems to be ok. no more random reboots.
SOLVED. The problem was caused by Weather Live application (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apalon.weatherlive). With first installation of Android M I noticed that the app shows error message. Now, when I know cause and effect, I read feedbacks in Play Market and see other people reports crashes in Marshmallow with this app. So, if you have random restarts in Android M and Weather Live app installed, then try to delete it and wait if system will be stable.

I found the same issue. I'm a registered user of Weather Live, but I've found that the app is causing numerous crashes after I upgraded my Nexus 5 to Android 6 ( Marshmallow). I ran a bug report and searched it for 'FATAL EXCEPTION:', I can see that everytime there is a crash, one of the threads affected belongs to Weather Live. What I then get is a restart of the User Interface, so it goes into the 'android' animation you normally see on boot. The phone stays up because the System Uptime is not reset.
I've uninstalled the app for the moment to see if that cures the issue.
i am experiencing random reboots with my Spice Dream Uno and ended up in this forum while searching for my cause. first i thought its my device got hardware issue but it never happened before in lollipop or kitkat. it seems just like a possible hardware fault too and phone will be in bootloop , then cant even power on the display(backlight flluctuates, with black screen). when i pull the battery and reinsert after few minutes the phone starts normally. seems like Marshmallow has critical campatibility issues with some applicationsThe crash never happens in same application for me.And i have no roots ,customs etc..Came to 6.0 via OTA from lollipop.
My device dont have any issues upto now(its been an year).
I've been noticing it with a very minimal base of packages. Seems to only happen shortly after waking from deep sleep so I highly suspect doze. The phone will be fine... you set it aside... it enters doze deep sleep... phone wakes, you unlock... then bam, reboots, and enters boot loop at the Google splash screen. I've already done a factory reset, will be attempting a fastboot reflash with the new November system image today.

Note 3 Neo (SM-N750) keeps getting bootloop after a few days!?

Hi,
Since lollipop was not available in India, I installed the russian 5.1.1 rom in feb 2016. Everything was smooth and I had no problems with it. Immediately after flashing the rom, I rooted it and put twrp recovery. I also uninstalled all the bloatware using ES file manager. I didn't have any problems with this russian (the rom's title ends in SER) rom till August.
In August, the phone started losing battery rapidly, the smaller (1300mhz) CPU would not goto deep sleep for some reasons. The phone would be shown as awake constantly in the battery graph on few days. I couldn't find any culprit from the battery graph, even wake detector apps didn't find the reason.
I knew the problem must be rom related, so I downloaded the Indian version of 5.1.1 and installed it. I again put twrp and rooted it, removed bloatware using ES file manager. No battery problems anymore, the phone would goto deep sleep always, as expected. BUT, as soon as I finished doing some root level activity, the next reboot (done manually, it would never crash on its own) would result in bootloop.
The bootloop goes like this, First the "samsung note 3 neo" logo appears (as expected), then the Samsung logo flashes BUT the samsung jingle doesn't start with this animation, the logo keeps flashing for around 5-8 seconds, THEN the samsung jingle starts, which only plays halfway when it reboots, this loop keeps repeating unless I pull out the battery!
I can/could always solve this bootloop by restoring my previous twrp DATA backup. Occasionally I would restore the system as well, but a basic twrp data restore is enough to end the bootloop problem temporarily.
I uninstalled the Indian rom and put the russian rom again 2 weeks back. For the battery problem, I installed "kernel aduitor" app and put the smaller cpu on powersave profile. This solved the battery problem.
Yesterday, after killing tasks in "ES task manager" (I don't remember doing anything else specifically root related), I restarted it manually and again got the bootloop! Earlier I never got bootloop with the russian version, this was the first time.
What could be the CAUSE of bootloop? I'm tired of twrp data restores repeatedly, I need a cause and/or solution badly!
I suspect it to be a hardware problem. I do wish to downgrade it to 4.4 stock rom to see if the bootloop is lollipop rom related or not, but I couldn't find decent stock 4.4 rom sources. Also there's the risk of losing EFS/IMEI while downgrading.
Hello
We are same problem. Have you resolved it already? I hope We can fix it.

S7 Keeps (randomly) rebooting

Hi Guys,
My S7 (SM-G930F, Netherlands PHN device) randomly reboots. I cannot use my phone anymore because it reboots somewhere between 5 seconds to max. 2 minutes after it reboots.
What did I do to try to fix it:
1. clear cache + full wipe via the recovery mode.
2. downgrade to stock (PHN via Sammobile and ODIN install) Android 6 rom (and after that upgraded to Nougat 7).
3. Fully charge battery and let it drain down all the way.
- My device is not rooted but original Samsung
- My device does not have a single scratch nor it ever fell down
It looks like a hardware problem to me or am I missing something?
I had the same problem with the Galaxy A5 2017. Couldn't fix it, decided to return it, and even the carrier couldn't fix it so they gave me a new one which didn't have the problem. So, if you're still under warranty, return it.
Hi @sanderh
I had the same problem with my G930F for a week. I left it off for 5 days. After that time I turned it on and it's fine now. Two months without reboots :victory:
No reboots to this day :fingers-crossed:
After one year the restarts returned. This happened while updating to Oreo. I left the phone switched off again for 5 days but the problem remained.
When I made a backup files from phone to PC, I noticed that everything works when the MicroSD card is removed. No reboots. I decided to change SD card - it worked. Formatting the memory card also helped so... I'm enjoying again with the working phone

Question Stucked in bootloop

Hey,
I have got Xiaomi POCO X3 PRO NFC 8/256GB, most probably have android 11 MIUI 12.5.5 global, in EU. Been using automatic updatese. Please note, that I haven't flashed any custom software. Have been using vanilla OS since release and been updating it with automatic updates.
Suddenly my phone has entered bootloop state and I am not able to take it out of it since.
Latest action I have taken just before the problem started is that I connected my phone to charger during the game ( PGR) , while it was at around 40% charge. After short moment it has frozen and restarted the phone. Since then it has been constantly bootlooping with POCO icon and resetting again, turning off the screen and back to POCO icon - it has been for over 2 hours already. It doesn't feel that my power button is stuck.
Still can operate power + vol buttons reliably. I can access Fastboot and MIUI Recovery Menu 5.0, where I have 4 options:
1. Reboot - back to bootloop
2. Wipe data - haven't tried it yet
3. Connect to MIAssistant - TIL it is supposedly dead service?
4. Safemode - it brings me back to bootloop again
Tried to take out SIM and microsd, to no avail. Haven't tried to wipe out data until I try other solutions, to restore it, as I have some 2FA on it, which would be a pain to recover.
I haven't learned before around flashing and recovery for the last few years (only I have done it around android 4, 5 and 6). I would like request assistance - how to approach resolving this problem?
Currently I am reading on fastboot, which I believe might help me here, by connecting it to PC.
EDIT: Got around this https://xiaomiflashtool.com/tutorial/use-xiaomi-flash-tool and stock rom https://xiaomistockrom.com/xiaomi-poco-x3-pro , I believe it might work
EDIT #2: At 20.11.2022. At around end of october this issue started repeating out of nowhere. And then suddenly stop,
Then the phone bricked. Sent for warranty and just got it back.
Turns out that motherboard died and was the cause.

Thanks, will follow this to make back up and in case it occurs again.
Managed to resolve this problem by draining up my battery due to constant restarts(obviously can't pull out battery). After that happened, connected my phone to normal charger, juiced it up to 10% and phone started just fine.
I have tried to recreate this problem, however it didn't occur again.
