Started using today since Gear VR service was using 10% battery.
Lemme see how it performs if at all.

I've been using it since day one. Have disabled quite a few services including Bixby. Haven't noticed any ill effects and think my battery usage is pretty awesome. Here's a thread about Package Disabler Pro with what packages members are disabling.
Thanks for the heads up

Been using it since last year on the note 7, works great also on my S8 plus
Sent from my Note 7 FE, S8+, S7 edge or S6
Using it without issue to kill a few Samsung apps I've replaced with others.
I used it on my S7E, caused problems and issues overtime. Not using it at all on S8+ and having a spectacular experience.

Well lets be fair...the apk itself wont cause issues. What the end user does with it can cause issues absolutely.
But that's on the user not the apk.

Very true
Used to use it. Now I don't. Stoped because I didn't notice any benefits. Both ram usage and battery life are about the same with and without it. Also, there was a time when the developer pushed like a gazillion updates within 2 days. Not too confident he knows what he is doing. Oh, and this is the only app I've ever used that needs an extra app installed to make it work. Something is off.
Used to use it, now using Adhell. Much simpler. And working
Using it on my S8+, and did on several previous Sam phones. It just works, no problems ever.
I can't prove if it saves any battery, but the phone is just cleaner without all those unused apps.
Used to use it, made things worse.dont need it with S8+.
I have tried to find this but does anybody know how applications such as package disabler work?
I have it too, yet to install on s8+

I recently bought a Galaxy Gear Live and was excited to use it with S health on my Galaxy S5. Turns out, though samsung claimed they would update their software to be compatible with their watch, it still isnt. Not a problem, though. I thought i would still use the google fit app, as its an android wear device. Turns out my phone isnt even compatible with the google app?? Im not sure what to do as both company apps are not supported. Any ideas?

Just because it says it's incompatible doesn't mean it won't still work on your device. You could download the apk and attempt to install, worse case scenario is it won't work
Sent from my Nexus 5
Tried that now, it seems to glitch my phone and freezes it. Also, i just found out other S5's ARE compatible.

That's very odd. Normally Sprint phones are pretty flexible with most apps. Is your S5 on kk or LP?

A few days ago I bought an Asus Zenfone 2 for my mum and I realised how smooth chrome is on that phone compared to the S6. Anyone else having this issue where chrome isn't really running at 60fps?
Especially when opening and closing tabs, my S6 just drops frames all the time. I'm on 5.0.2 if it matters.
probably something to do with the extremely poor ram management on the S6, as chrome is known to be a resource hog. Zenfone 2 on the other hand has 4GB of ram.
It's not the high end zenfone, it's the dual core version with only 2gb of ram

Try to enable Developer options and raise to 1.5x or 2x each of the three animation settings.
The length of the animation doesn't help anything. I'll post a slow mo video later. The S6 just drops frames so often.

As you can see, the S6 drops so many frames compared to an entry level phone.
Installing the latest 'Android system web view' made chrome smooth on my phone.
I did. Version 45+ for arm and arm64. Didn't help at all
Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
Ok, today I made a quick browsing session with Chrome, paying attention to smoothness, and can't really say to see something wrong.
I mean, I come from a OnePlus One that was very smooth (custom ROM and kernel) and my S6 is around 99% of that performance.
The heavy debloating I made might help, though.
I also have this lagg in chrome, but i must say its only on resource heavy pages (lots of pictures, adds, banners etc.).
I will reset my device in a few days. Went to the Samsung store and checked out their display units. Some seem to suffer from it while others don't. My phone is also pretty bloat free, only about 3 pages of apps.

Already on it.
Hmmm....
Try to turn Javascript off from settings. It will make Chrome more smooth.
Yes that actually helps dramatically but it breaks web pages

Try installing Chrome Samsung Support Library from Play store?

Already have that. Helps a little but still consistently dropping frames. Am I the only one experiencing this?
Edit: Just realised the video I linked was set to private. Changed it to public

If you have couple of web pages that need Javascript you can add them to exceptions in settings. But if you visit mainly those pages that necessarily need javascript then this solution is not good.
Hey ladies and gents,
I made this thread to have a place to post personal findings with your note 5's. For example, tell us how do you like the screen, anything weird that you noticed about the screen, the way the phone behaves, and possibly any quirks that you found out with the phone. Even things that you like and don't like. Maybe the phones camera acts a certain way in weird conditions, etc. Let us know so that we can discuss and possibly find solutions for any future quirky attributes that pop out! ?

I have noticed that when I want to send a pic to someone it automatically sends the pic without letting me type anything. Don't know if it is a bug or just the way the OS works.
I do not like the fact that I can't choose to use an app once or by defualt, it automatically selects the app for me
Sent from my SM-N920T using XDA Forums Pro.
I agree. The default activity chooser is missing the option to use an app just once or always. Very annoying
Really? That's very annoying because I usually like to choose different media players for different media applications. That can pose a problem.
Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk
On a positive note (pun intended), the screen is gorgeous and wonderfully sensitive. My last two phones, lgg4 and nexus 6 were too dim in sunlight and the screens on the far right edge missed touches far too often. Well, on the LG touches were missed just about anywhere 1/3rd of the time.
I have noticed that when I take a screenshot with smart select and save it to gallery I cannot send it as an mms. It says unsupported media file. Anyone else had that problem/

Anybody with the Note 5 64gb how much of the 64gb do you get to use after the OS is installed? Right now I'm using around 50gb overall on my Note 3.

The size of the OS has no effect on the amount of in free user space, the OS is on a separate partition in the phone.
The separate partition is of a pre-determined size which has nothing to do with the free space on the internal sdcard.
That's why I do not see any advantage of uninstalling bloatware or other apps which we don't use or want.
Disabling bloatware and many other unwanted and unused apps is a much better and safer option.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I hear what you are saying, but still doesn't answer his question. Regardless of partitions, you will still have 64gb to work with, so how much is available from a stock N5 64gb? I think I read that 11gb is used, but I can't confirm I don't have a note 5 yet. Coming soon. You should have over 50gb, probably 52-53. I'm sure someone can confirm.
@Misterjunky-That sounded a little rude, I didn't mean it so please don't take it the wrong way.

Ok, before adding any files to your internal sdcard you will have exactly 58,350,411,776,00 bytes usable free space.
Which means that you will have approx 58.3 GB usable free space to work with before adding any files.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
Damn, that's actually very good.

Has anyone ever noticed that the clock icon actually tells the right time? If you go to the app drawer and flip the page back and forth you can actually see the seconds hand moving.

Anyone using flibpoard? My phone gets extremely hot and battery life socks when I use flipboard.
I disabled flipboard

I use flipboard but don't have that problem. I've disabled a ton of other apps including the "briefing" app. I think it's a widget of Flipboard. You might want to try doing the same use the "Package Disabler Pro" app. Also get the latest tmobile update haven't had any heating issues since upgrading.

Yes, but doesn't notice anything as well before than after using it.
Probably better not to use it. Don't think it does much except put more wear and tear on the flash memory.
I use Battery Tracker a lot though.
Best way to speed up* these phones is a clean reload; takes a time or two to nail down what apps you want etc.
Uninstalls never helped any OS, lol.
*Turn off animations and package block the junk especially cloud backup crap if you don't need it. Take the time to optimize your unique set up; it is time consuming and only you can do it.
