I've recently bought the Xperia XZP and loving the phone so far but I've bumped into an issue. When I press the App Preview (or whatever it's called) software button to get an overview of the running apps I don't have a realtime image from the running apps. This worked flawlessly on Android 7.1.1 on my 6p. Is this a 'default setting' on this phone or is there another reason?
I'm running the latest update and haven't rooted nor unlocked the device. The only modifications I've performed are removing some bloatware and changing some screen settings with the following adb shell commands:
Code:
adb pm uninstall -k --user 0 <app name>
Code:
adb wm size 1440x2560
Code:
adb wm density 480

that's a known bug related to forced 4K resolution.

Thing is that I don't use a 'forced 4k'. I set it to 1440p, just like the nexus 6P which didn't have any issues showing the previews realtime.
I guess the issue occurs with any other resolution change then? you're changing settings in a way the OEM didn't foresee them to be changed, so you're bound to encounter bugs.

Ah okay, will test when I'm home whether it works normally with regular density and size after doing a reset of both properties.
Thanks anyway!

Hi Guys,
If you're one of the fans of LCD density tweak on our beloved 7" phone ;D you're likely to encounter a UI glitch on the stock browser.
I personally love the speed of the stock browser, it surpasses ANYTHING I've found on the 2.3.3 tab 7 so here it is the UI fix, not much but hey! easier on the eyes
Simply push/pull the apk with the one I attached, as usual I gave no guarantee whether this mod will brick, crash, burn, or maybe eat your dog..
Cheers!

That one glitch alone made me switch to CM7. Never could get it right myself. I tip my hat sir and say thanks.

you don't install this apk.. push it instead..
I replaced the browser.apk in /system/app/ with this one. The browser isnt showing up in the appdrawer anymore.

have you reboot? what density are you in? this is exclusively 165 lcd density..
I have rebootet several times and also wiped cache. The density doesnt seem to be the problem. Im usually on 182, but i just changed it to 165.
I just copied the apk to system and then changed the permissions so they match all the other apps.
From rwxrwxrwx to rw-r--r--.

Hmmm I've push/pull it often without any problems at all.. Sorry mate..
mmm btw are you on Gingerbread 2.3.3? This mod is actually part of my custom ROM based on 2.3.3
Hello,
I'm looking for an app that i had quite a long time ago, it had as option to have compatibility with older apps (meaning that apps that didn't go fullscreen on higher resolution devices, got upscaled to have the full screen covered).
Anyone know what app that was or has another app that can do the same?
Thanks in advance.

Assuming you have an Android, it should fit the screen regardless.
Yes i do have Android and no it doesn't, why would i be asking for it otherwise
What phone you have and what apps aren't fiting?
The Sensation, currently i have it with FF3 (Final Fantasy 3), 2 black borders on the side.
But older apps have this aswell (some just appear in a small screen with black area's in the bottom and side parts)
Like this with FF3:

Hmm.. this doesn't happen on my Droid 3 except on emulators, in which case it has to do with the original game having a specific resolution. Sorry I couldn't help
After searching some forums, i have finally found a post i made for a game that had this problem (Eternal Legacy HD).
The app is Spare Parts.
Thanks for trying to help tho!

You can simply use Album my friend.. Go to settings /display/turn off Image enhancement. And then open album and open any colorful image. Then take a screenshot of it. Again go to settings and turn on Image Enhancement then open Album and see again the same image.. Take a screenshot of it.. Then compare both image.. U can feel 100% different my friend.. If u don't see any different means sure that ur DRM key is not restored correctly...
hm. but then should the screenshot with no enchancement also get enchanted when i look at it to compare?

Sometimes you just don't like the size of the items on your screen. If you're lucky, your phone's software has its own DPI changer of sorts, where you can choose among a few different presets, but what if you want more options, or you aren't one of the lucky few with that feature?
Well, this app aims to fix that problem on any Android device running 4.1 or later. There are quite a few apps out there that change your DPI, but this one doesn't actually require root, even if you aren't running Nougat. You will have to reboot if you aren't rooted, but hey, that's better than being around a computer all the time to use ADB, right?
There are instructions in the app for the setup and usage.
IMPORTANT:
- I don't know if this will work on every device running Android 4.1+. I was able to test it on an emulator running 4.1, along with various LG and Samsung devices on Marshmallow and Nougat, but that obviously doesn't include everything. Send some feedback if it isn't working for you, and include your device + Android version.
- Non-root mode requires you to execute a one-time ADB command (unless you uninstall and reinstall the app). From then on, all you'll need is a reboot.
- Avoid setting the DPI below 72. I don't specifically know what happens, but I know Android tools prevent this from happening by default. I will build the limit into this app in a future update.

@ProGuy1 if you can use ADB to change your DPI, that's great! But some people don't know how or don't have constant access to a computer. I figured rebooting would be more convenient than finding a computer with ADB.
Also, devices on 4.3 and above no longer need to reboot, whether rooted or not.
@S. Loranca You can certainly translate it if you want. The source code is on GitHub. Look in `/res/values/strings.xml`.

Thanks for making this! I saw the "Display Size" setting missing on my new Xiaomi phablet; a few apps I tried on the play store failed, but this app works perfectly.
For reasons you'll see soon, I'm removing this project from XDA and closing the thread. If you have the app right now, email me or PM me with any questions.
Since 2 days i have got this annoying Option/Setting
in my Display settings of my Huawei Mate 10 Lite.
How i can remove it?

Well, you can't remove any option on your Huawei device , unless you have root access, and even though that would be a pain because it require a solid knowledge on theming.
I'll suggest you to just ignores them or disable them if they aren't already.
Have a good day

Oh, great!
I was actually thinking about decompiling the settings.apk and find the specific element to make him disappear , then recompile the apk and install it to the system again. Bit your way us way more easier.
Cool that you happened to get things working
