Hey guys,
Am new to the Honor 8, when i bought the device on 17-07-2017, it was running MM but the same day received update to Nougat.
The phone is just awesome in terms of performance and camera, but, yeah, but, the battery. I battery is draining pretty fast overnight even when I have kept the mobile data, WIFI and GPS off.
So if you guys can suggest me some tips to save the drain that would be great.
I also saw a mode under the battery settings which stated as Low resolution power saving, which should reduce the screen resolution to save power.
But I didnt notice any difference visually , also to be sure I checked the resolution using CPU-Z which confirmed that it is 1080 x 1920
Is it a bug? or am I missing something?
Sorry if there is an existing thread for the same.

Just be sure you don't use power saving modr, it's totally useless
Always backup and factory reset the device first. That usually fixes most software issues with this device, including battery drain.
As for the screen resolution, the app only reads the native resolution of the screen, not the software based down sampling.
And yes, power saving mode does work, but it does so by turning off auto sync. Not my preference but it does work. If yours isn't working, see my first sentence.

So it is suggested that I backup and factory reset every time I update the device?

Only if any problems arise. If you updated and everything is normal, no need to reset.

From my experience, power saving mode is still quite snappy. The only downside for me is the screen goes off really fast.

I am having some battery drain issue after updating to B340...so will reset today itself, thanks.
Maybe it should solve the power saving mode issue too
I had already setup my phone using your guide... All was good but after the update its not same, but will do it again and test

Is b340 indian version?
In fact after I received the B340 OTA update, my overnight power drain problem disappeared almost completely, where I used to see a 10/12% drain overnight (between mid-night and 8 AM with phone in airplane mode for that duration) now I see a drain between 1 to 2% only.

the problem with the screenshot is that android system and android OS never were the top consuming items back in marshmallow
They were in my case but now it's much worse... sometimes can't make it till dinner time.
Together with the Bluetooth crashing this Nougat upgrade it's a total disappointment.

did u do a factory reset ?
Still not, I'm planning to do it but it's so much work...
Suddenly without any new SW update (still B341) the battery drain is much better.
It didn't came for free though: the timer is totally screwed up so alarms are missed or late, apps in background closed, whatsapp messages received only at screen unlock plus as soon I unlock and bring down the notifications the new ones randomly disappears.
I was waiting a new SW update since there are many new versions around but it looks takes much longer with the EVA-L09 Vodafone Germany version.
Thinking about using the downgrade package provided by Huawei.
Hello guys, I have the FRD-L09 variant and B389 version installed. I have a very poor SoT and i wonder if there is any update that reduces android os battery consumption. Have anyone of you guys been notified for any OTAs since 27/05/2017? Thanks in advance.

It seems that android OS is constantly on, like the phone never goes idle. Neither Doze, nor sleep. How can I fix that? I have already performed a factory reset. So maybe I have to wipe cache too.

Android system always consumes 15-20% of battery. Also I see there is activity during night, which is kinda strange given that it isn't being used. Battery decreased 11% during night even though it was supposed to go into Doze mode.
Also I performed one more factory reset just in case but it didn't have any impact.
Rommco05 said:
Yes something is wrong. First think, you have poor mobile signal. WiFi is still on during the night? Facebook app take lot of battery, try uninstall FB and use Chrome for example. You also using Messenger? If you I suggest use Messenger lite
edit: Android on my phone take +-5% here something wrong

Nah, 7% for Facebook and less for messenger is not the problem. My problem apparently is that the device never goes into Doze or even sleep mode, and Android system never goes idle. I really don't know why is that happening.

Hi all, after owning my S7 G930FD for about 6 months, i've got huge battery drain caused by android system always in top of my battery stats, draining more than the screen. Yesterday i flashed the latest firmware with a FULL wipe, also formatted my sd card, waited until the second cycle and it's back again,i have no idea what the hell is going on, it also happened when the phone still didnt update or install any app after the firmware installation. I remember having similar problem with the S6 on latest MM builds and Nougat, are they doing this on purpose ? Check my screenshot below i just took it right now, my only guess left now is the sd card,i'm not really sure, please tell if you have similar problem or if possible provide your battery stats so i can compare android system usage, thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:

88% of battery with almost no use, I've been facing this problem since last update, not sure if it was present in previous Dev.
I tried turning Ok Google off, GPS off (completely), WiFi scanning and other stuff too but the problem persist as you can see in the screenshot.
System, Android SO and Play Services are always on the top; yesterday I got almost 3 hours of SOT and those services was the top 3 battery drainers, even more than the SOT that I was expecting stay at top.
Is this normal?
I know that I'm on a beta build but some people here get way better SOT.

Seems like battery monitoring apps(such as Accubattery) are now not able to read battery stats from phone after update. It shows attached error. Worked fine before.

Why you wana calibrate unnecessarily and that too even without root ? U want to calibrate battery, do it non-root method way
Method 1
Discharge your phone fully until it turns itself off.
Turn it on again and let it turn itself off.
Plug your phone into a charger and, without turning it on, let it charge until the on-screen or LED indicator says 100 percent.
Unplug your charger.
Turn your phone on. It's likely that the battery indicator won't say 100 percent, so plug the charger back in (leave your phone on) and continue charging until it says 100 percent on-screen as well.
Unplug your phone and restart it. If it doesn't say 100 percent, plug the charger back in until it says 100 percent on screen.
Repeat this cycle until it says 100 percent (or as close as you think it's going to get) when you start it up without it being plugged in.
Now, let your battery discharge all the way down to 0 percent and let your phone turn off again.
Fully charge the battery one more time without interruption and you should have reset the Android system's battery percentage.

Anybody just post a screenshot of changelog as soon as the Update of Vivo Nex comes so that some people who passes by who are suspicious or reluctant about Vivo software updates can see the proof . How about it ? Just post under a single thread to avoid overflooding with multiple threads

I do not want to calibrate my battery. This is what the AccuBattery terms for reading the battery consumption. Read the entire message and the screenshot message.
May I know how to revert back to previous version? The battery drain is so bad at this firmware. And how to download the previous version?
Same here quite the drain after the new update. Still bearable but way better before...
