Nougat manual update procedure for H900 - LG V10 General

It has been verified that the H901 boot and system images work on the H900. Still waiting on verification about the modem, so unless you have a backup, I wouldn't flash that.
Manual update thread here.

Yes you can. The LGH631 and the LGMS631 are both the same devices essentially, same exact hardware on the same exact network. I personally used the 5.1.1 T-Mobile bootstack and the returntostock zips which I flashed via TWRP after rooting. Stay stock unrooted 5.1.1 and then jump on your wireless network and wait for the update. I was able to keep my Metro apps this way.

I don't believe LG Flash tool works anymore, at least not for our phones. I was lucky enough to get Marshmallow through the OTA after reverting back to stock, but when I first got the phone back in October last year the first thing I did was try to root it and bricked it. If you download LG Bridge there's an option for "Update error recovery" on the bottom right of the software update tab and you can sideload a kdz file there.
Here is where you can get USB drivers for the Stylo.
Thank you. Just trying to get this figured out in case Draken is unable to get his zip fixed. I'm currently rooted on 5.1.1 and trying to go to marshmallow
Not a problem. Happy sideloading, but keep in mind that a kdz is a full return to stock and you'll lose everything on internal storage and you'll be setting it up like a brand new phone. Then again if you're going to root it using the guide on here you'll lose all internal storage data anyway so...
Regardless, good luck!

There is a method to flash the T-Mobile kdz file 10j and then OTA update to 10L and then to MM.
I was rooted on Lollipop/Katana ROM and did this method and am on MM/T-Mobile variant, then rooted after MM update.
LG Flash tool was used to flash the Tmo kdz 10J file (lollipop).

Hey,
LG UP is a new and easy tool from LG Official. It can flash kdz/tot/dz files.
You can use "LG flash tool 2.0.1.5 or above" to flash kdz/tot/dz files.
The LG flash tool 2014 is a tool modified by some one from Vietnam, I did not test it.

It seems that one of the users (another threath LG H900 5.1 > 6.0 problem) is right and I upload software h900 6.0 via KDZ via TOT even via octopus and nothing, even the same error is possible that the main card is not h900 but another variant?, He says he solved the problem by loading vs900 software because the main card was not h900 but refurbished vs900.

Once you confirm the model of your phone and I find myself developing a tutorial to load the kdz but only if the version is equal to or higher than the one they currently have downgrading kills LG phones with antirollback

AT&T Unlocked LG V10

So my aunt who lives in US bought me lg v10 at&t unlocked from daily steals on december and brought it to me in indonesia. I saw the manufacturing date was on september 2016 and software version is h90021v. I wanted to update to h90021w or the latest h90021z but every time i check for updates, it said i already have the latest. Is it because its unlocked? And if i were to use lgup, would it relocked to at&t? Would really appreciate the help
You can download the h90021w kdz and update via LG UP manually. It won't relock the device. I did it and it's working fine.

I will advise disabling all the bloatware LG apps. Install Greenify for a slightly better battery life. Try not to let the phone get too hot as it may lead to bootloop. Install a cpu monitor app to keep an eye on cpu temperature.

I need help on unrooting my device and getting regular updates as before

Hello,
I purchased my mate 9 early January 2017. And a week after that I got the unlock code and rooted it. However I do not use any custom roms or any root utilities. I just want to get the regular updates and lock and unroot the phone as if I bought it the very first day.
I made a search and could not figure out, if someone could direct me to a message or a link I would be very grateful.
Thanks.
I want to get the original oreo update when it is released.

In your case the best way is to force update via Firmware Finder (In-App Proxy option). Choose same number (FullOTA) as you have and simply flash. Factory Reset is recommended.
Thanks a lot Strogino. May I ask how to force update through FF? What is FF?
go to erecovery, download and make update, you will go back to bl locked with official.

FF is Huawei Firmware Finder. It is database with links to official ROMs (they are on HiCloud physically) and tool that can force any ROM to flash via system update function.

your link seems dead or not correct. - edit: link correct, was not working due to my vpn...
I assume he patched a G8+ boot.img with magisk manager.
boot image can be extracted from official Doha firmware found here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/doha/official/
manual on how to do this can be found on official magisk manager website.
be aware that when unlocking bootloader your phone will reset to factory settings.
This is what I did. Yes..
Worked great for my G8+. I guess people should just check which stock ROM file they get from lolinet to make sure it's the right one. I say that because, in my case, lolinet list had two files for the Brazilian stock ROM. I went to Settings / About / Version number and downloaded the matching file. Don't know whether the other file would work the same or not. Just didn't want to risk having any issue since G8+ is somewhat new and there's not much info on solving root problems on the Internet.
Hi,
Couple of questions
Does the Bootloader have to be Unlocked to flash the modified Boot image?
Or can I use update option?
Are Motorola releasing unlock numbers for Bootloader now?
Thanks, Carl

Hello, Carl. I guess it's not possible unless there's a flaw in the security. There are some articles on the Internet about that. Google "is-there-a-way-to-root-an-android-phone-without-unlocking-the-bootloader". I can't post URLs yet.
As for Motorola devices, I was able to unlock the bootloader without problems on my G8+, last week. The only caveat, I'm my case, is that I had to wait some days for the unlock bootloader option be available under developer options. It was disabled by default in my G8+. And, yes, they're releasing bootloader unlocking codes.
THANKS!
Have anybody with a rooted device tried to get wide angle camera working in gcam ports?
Thanks.

magisk module debloater and also sdmaid helped with most of the bloatware, the only thing I could not remove was google files but I just deactivated it.
a really weird thing happened with the April 1st update, basically the update started automatically and it failed at 3/6 so I tought I should restart my phone and test it again, but it got stuck in bootloop and I had to reflash a rom with fastboot cmd.
I think that's because I unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone, cause u lose the right for updates after you do that, but for some reason lenovo/moto update system goes automatically the next second u connect to the internet and fails halfway thru so u have a higher chance to ruin your phone or something, instead of denying the update from the start
so the solution I found was to try and delete "moto update service" app that I can't force stop or disable but I couldnt find it in system/app or system/priv-app, that's because the app name is "3c_ota", so deleting that with SD Maid app worked and the "update system" option in settings is reverted to a sort of default android one that lets you check manually.
Had a similiar issue. I soft bricked my phone (bootloop) and installed a stock rom from an unofficial source. The funny thing is, this version did make like 3 or 4 system upgrades to PPSI.29.65-51 without any issue. But the 1st April updated failed to install. I then flashed the official 1st april stock image with the moto rescue and smart assistant. After that, the official ROM tells me my phone is not allowed to do updates because the security of this phone is compromised and I should contact lenovo support
Those upates are kinda annoying if they don't work, I guess I'll just completey flash the phone every 6-12 months with the moto assistant.
yeah you should always have a backup rom that you can download with moto assistant or from lolinet g8 roms (https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/doha/official/)
I also got the same message saying that my phone is compromised ( unlocked bootloader + rooted) and it won't receive any further updates, but I just deleted the "3c_ota" app (the moto update service) which is bad cause if forces automatic updates the second u connect to internet.
I'm not going to touch any further updates or security patches until android 10, which I will attempt to flash via moto assistant
