What ad blocker are you using? Is there anything in settings of the app to turn status bar notifications off. I'm currently using Blokada and it only shows up in the notification drawer.
Block this
I dont want to see the message in notification drawer

Try AdHell. Most non-root ad-blockers use VPN, and you get the VPN icon.
I hate that and tried AdHell, which uses Samsung's knox to block the ads. You can also change your DNS setting to use ad-blocking DNS servers like Adgurds DNS servers as well.
Great app "adhell" solved the problem!

I'm trying out AdHell, so far so good. Thanks for the tip
Try using adhell or Disconnect Pro

Hey on the S6 is there anyway without root to disable the floating notifications that reads out every message and scrolls across the screen?
I know some apps have this in their settings ex : groupme... But i specifically use hangouts for txt and IM.....
Anyone?

yea i want to know how to do this too. those floating notifications are super annoying especially when watching videos. but looks like there's no way without root though.
Damnn...this sucks. I switched back to my rooted nexus bc this was so annoying!

I'm specifically talking about hangouts and other apps

I'm pretty sure that setting controls all popups but I don't use hangouts. In messages, click more to get options. Then click on notifications. There are settings behind it

With HeadsOff lollipop heads-up notifications can now be disabled!
No root needed.
You can also restore the ticker text in the statusbar!
Give it a try:
Download from Playstore
XDA thread
What about preventing text messages from turning the screen on every time one comes in? Any idea how to get do that?
If you rooted you can edit csc files to do that
Does anyone know how to add a shortcut for my VPN service (built in) to the homescreen? Default launcher.
I look for the same, but cant find solution at the moment

That was not my question.

I'm using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blazasoft.vpn
With Nova launcher, I can have the shortcut on my desktop without it, but it's buried too deep in settings I always forget how to get there.
In settings, About Phone, Icon Glossary
I get Unfortunately Settings has Stopped.
I am I missing seeing something?

It's the a badges setting for apps? Yeah I don't have any lockscreen notifications with message previews at all. I do get an SMS symbol on the lockscreen web receiving a message but nothing else.

Hi All,
When I purchased s8+, notification style was different, like a bubble comes & disappear but now it's like normal banner.
How can I get like bubble? Any ideas?
Thanks
