[MOD][TEST] ART WhatsApp Fix 4.4

I happened on this post whilst trying to get some SystemUI.apk mods to take on ART:

I tried the modified libart.so file by @cernekee on my Moto X VZW Dev Ed (because a working phone needs to be broken fixed) and it seems to work. I've made a flashable file to remove the leftover WhatsApp parts and flash the new libart.so if you'd like to give it a go.
Steps to install:
1. Switch to ART. (You need to have stock SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex - see attached).
2. Flash zip in recovery
3. DO NOT WIPE DALVIK/CACHE
4. Reboot and profit reinstall WhatsApp from Play Store if needed.
As usual, make a backup first and please don't flash this if you are uncomfortable fixing a bootlooped phone!

If you screw up and wipe dalvik/cache, just flash the stock libart.so zip (attached) reboot then reflash the Mod.

Will this work on the brazilian firmware?

No clue. But this is a Nexus 5 libart.so and it's working on a Vzw Moto X so it most likely should. This isn't something I'd try with a locked bootloader though.

I didn't even have to reinstall Whatsapp.
One question though: what happens if I try to wipe cache one day? Will it bootloop the phone?

Yes but the fix is easy:
Hold power button (shut off) > boot to fastboot > boot to recovery > flash the stock libart.so > reboot > flash nexus 5 libart.so > reboot.
It has happened to me once so far lol.

Make a backup of your phone.
Download all 3 zip files.
Enable ART if you have not done so already
Reboot and let Android optimize itself. Whatsapp should crash at this point.
Reboot into recovery and Flash Moto X_ART_Libart.so.zip

If your phone boots but you have no status or notification bar, flash SystemUI_VZW_Odex_Stock.zip; a mod is breaking SystemUI.apk.

I would strongly advise against touching anything in /system/lib without having a backup via recovery. Don't do it.
Edit: It's especially dangerous if you mistakenly wipe dalvik/cache.

Can I flash an encrypted device?

Hi,
I have a Galaxy Note 4, running on TWRP 2.8.5 and on OS 6.0.1. I am into a tricky issue as the device is encrypted, and I am unable to load to it, as upon booting into the OS it throws a tantrum about the device being encrypted. I'm unable to factory data reset it via the TWRP as well. The device is not rooted. Long story short, I dont care about the contents and I'm willing to flash to the OEM firmware. Will I be able to do this? The device is not carrier locked. Is there any pre-requisites to check?

I would flash the latest TWRP image, format all partitions and then flash the stock firmware or a new rom to get rid of the issue.

I tried the following as well but I received the same error when I attempted to install the rom:
1. Go to Wipe > Advance Wipe > Selected system & data > swipe to wipe
2. Went to Wipe > Format Data > typed yes > and wiped successfully.

This actually helped. I was able to flash emotion rom, but I'm unable to flash the official samsung rom downloaded from sammobile. I downloaded the rom file twice, but it simply refuses to install, with the error "failed to map file" and "error installing zip file".

bootloop in recovery after forced OTA update.

I was running the latest stock Android 8 firmware for the op6 with magisk & twrp.
I delayed the firmware update since month then yesterday I was forced to update.
My phone reboot everything was fine. no twrp & no root anymore because of the update.
I booted in latest twrp (fastboot boot twrp.img....) then I flashed the twrp.zip. After reboot I flashed magisk.zip.
After the latest reboot phone stuck for ~30 sec at the warning message saying boot-loader unlock blablalbla. then the phone reboot again and put me in twrp.
What can I do from there ?

I installed the last twrp on official website its not the one ?
I manage to boot the OS with a factory reset on twrp but I lost all my apps. only magisk app what installed. (because it was installed as a system app?)
I flashed the zip again and now it's everything is working but I can't install netflix... so it seems I'm not systemless :/
if you have any idea on how to make all the things right again it will be nice :good:

I had the same problem, boot loops after rooting the recent OTA update. after soem troubleshooting with TWRP and not really getting anywhere I accidentally wiped the phone (stuck in the Chinese menus, was a mistake). prolly for the best, working great after re-flashing the OTA.

Much better fastboot flash twrp.img, but if you backup stock recovery, just try to pull it via adb

that is the problem
fastboot boot recovery does not boot to TWRP & I dont have root - I am stuck

if I could temporarily install any custom recovery - problem is solved - Nandroid backup and adb pull. Problem is it keeps going back to stock recovery & i dont want to flash TWRP unless I back up stock recovery. Any thoughts ?

Yeah, stock rom issue need to root sir, but I will fix it sir.

I meant I tried .... fastboot boot <thisTWRPfile>.img after running vmeta and it will still boot into stock recovery. If I boot in stock recovery - adb shell will not run cos stock recovery does not support it. Problem is there isnt so far stock firmware available , so if I mess up and no backup - I have to run to service center and more $

I got notification that update is available. It wont install via TWRP.
How do I install OTA. wrt THis guide .... this phone does not seem to fit ( this isn't A/B phone type A phone ) . WHat do I do ? restore stock recovery and boot and then restore TWRP and boot.patch.img ? Any clue ?

I don't think so if possible to use twrp in ota update, but you can use twrp for flashing recovery rom ( stock recovery rom)

I don't know what are the exact criteria for successful OTA update from a vague idea I think it check whether there is original boot and recovery image otherwise says no
in that case would flashing this DM verify no encrypt module remove this checking and after installing this we should be able to to install periodic OTA updates
or as a long-term procedure every time I have to install OTA I have to restore original boot and recovery or should I just restore recovery

as follow up - I could install OTA by restoring stock r'y . There isn't a need to restore boot. You can keep it this way or else if TWRP is restored the same proc ought to repeat before the next OTA.
I am attaching stock boot and recoveries here in case they could be of use.

Update : it never worked. I thought it did but that update notice sprung and it wanted to do it all over again. I restored stock recovery. No Luck OTA's keep failing. I then restored stock Boot after removing magisk . Still got veriification error. My BL is unlocked. What does it take to get my OTA zip file working.... do I flash dm verify force encrypt . Why does it refuse. Should BL be locked as well anyone have luck push OTA update after rooting IN 1

Question Poco X3 Pro Bricked - Boots to Fastmode

I unlocked my phone, installed TWRP through fastboot, booted recovery, wiped and installed LineageOS. System didnt wanted to boot up so I went back to recovery where I wanted to wipe all and try installing again.
TWRP didn't saw my internal storage. I didnt know what to do, so I decided to download MiFlash and install stock rom, but I got error: "error:Sending sparse 'userdata' 1/3 (740908 KB) FAILED (Error reading sparsefile)" and now my phone boots to fasboot mode.
When I try to go recovery I get stock recovery. Is there anyway to revive my phone? It's m2101j20sg model.

Reboot your phone and observe on the top part of the phone while there is the POCO logo showing.
1) If there is an unlocked lock icon on the top, you should be able to rescue with TWRP.

Type the fastboot code to get to TWRP again so you can flash ROMs.

Step 16 is a must.
2) If you did not see this icon during booting POCO logo, chances are you accidently locked your bootloader with MiFlash. In this case, find Xiaomi repair center for warranty support.

I know how to flash a rom, but TWRP does not see my internal storage. Like it wasnt there.

I flashed Orangefox recovery and it did the trick. I was able to place some rom on internal storage and install it, but now i have 12 gb of storage instead of 233gb?

I think you were encrypted, please read more online and follow rom flashing instructions. You didn't follow it that's why you were in trouble.

I flashed, rooted, unbricked a lot phones back in the Samsung S6 days. Even Redmi Note 5 Pro from xiaomi, but never heard of something like rom encrypting your access in recovery.
I didnt flashed custom roms on my Samsung s8 and s9, cuz they had fine software. MIUI 12 is so bad that I considered selling that Poco.

You didn't follow instructions, TWRP works perfectly fine. And the step you missed is Formatting Data partition after flashing ROM which decrypts it. (thus why you couldn't access internal storage or boot)
And you will run into same issue with OrangeFox aswell if you do the same mistake. Flashing procedure is a lot different in new smartphones.

I didn't follow, cuz I didn't know that flashing procedure is a lot different in new smartphones. I looked at it, it looked very similar, so I went with old habits. Now I know what to expect.
