snap chat fix? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

Hi can someone please help me out. Last night i had to reflash the rom for some reason my phone kept on shutting off and rebooting on its own, so i reflashed the rom and its working fine again, the problem i'm having is i cant log into my snapchat again. i had the same issue when i first flashed the rom and was instructed to use "suhide-gui" and back then it worked. I tried the same method again and its not working now. Is there a fix for this? I've been using Jovy's Darthstalker Rom btw.

snapchat fix
there is only one method that works for sure and it's pretty painful.
1) You have to reflash fully stock (no su, root etc) than download snapchat, login.
2) After doing so, flash rom without wiping anything
3) let it reboot it should work.
Extra info
If you want to wipe everything and flash other rom and use titanium backup. Copy the file TB somewhere else (computer), flash rom, wipe everything and once booted etc... than using tb bring back snapchat data

I am using CM9 ROM, I don't remember which one because I was flashing it a while ago. Something strange happended to it today. When i try to run my phone it gets stuck at CM9 animation. Tried wipes and fixes from recovery but it didn't work. I would do factory reset but i don't want to lose my apps. They are on my sd card mounted as internal with flashed script. I don't know will I lose them? Help me please.

I don't think that there is any other method so just do a full wipe
and leave in peace AND YA PRESS THANKS
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Make a backup of your current corrupt rom.
Flash same rom again without wiping anything.. see if that works.
If not..you have nandroid backup img.. take out whatever important data you need.
I made backup, flashed rom and phone runs but there is another problem. When I restore apps from my backup they don't work. When viewed from system settings they look like: com.sketchbook 0,00 B and gray icon with sd card. The same happened to superuser app so I don't even have su rights. Do you have any solution for this or I just have to start with new rom?
Use terminal.. type su..
If your root access is broken you have root it again. There are numerous softwares.. use your pc to retrieve your data from nandroid img. Using titanium to backup app from nandroid backup doesnt work.
I just reinstalled superuser app and it's working. Anyway I think I will just flash a new rom.

[Q] ViperS 3.1.2 + Sensation XE

Hi.
I want to switch to ViperS 3.1.2 but have few questions before I do so. I've never done it before so I'm new to this.
Does it come rooted (or do all ROMs come rooted)?
Is there any instruction on how to do it or just flash it from .zip via the recovery mode (I have CWM 5.x.x installed already)?
And are there any bugs with it such as Wi-Fi problems/tethering, or calls (speaker)?
Also, what if something goes wrong? I've got a backup of my current ROM (stock), so do I just flash that one back or try ViperS' in case it was a mistake on my side?
Lastly, I've heard some people mentioning OTA updates. I'm assuming it's done in the same way as stock ROMs, so you just need Wi-Fi/working internet and the new update will install on its own, or do I have to download the update from here and then do it myself?
Thanks!

Are you S-Off or S-On? If S-Off then you can flash the zip directly from recovery and if you're S-On then you gotta flash 4EXT recovery first and enable smart flash feature and then flash the zip file.
There are no major bugs in the Rom except the ones listed on the OP of the official thread. Enjoy flashing.

I'm S-Off. I've had root earlier but I've installed SuperSU and accidentally pressed Clean SU which has pretty much wiped it. :|
Post your bootloader details to make things more clearer. Flashing a custom Rom doesn't need root access. You can flash it as you're s-off.
What Rom you're using currently? What firmware?

I apologise for not posting, although it may be a bit too late now since I'm already installing the ROM.
So, just wanna know now - do ROMs come rooted, and if I can always go back to stock ROM as long as I have the boot.img/download stock ROM from HTC site?

Yup they come pre-rooted
Thanks for the help, everyone! Managed to install the ROM, despite being stuck in bootloop for 2 hours but it works flawlessly now.

Most roms come rooted, and the rest provide root tools so you have a choice while flashing.
To return to stock look up ruu. An ruu + s on = your device as it came.
If you had flashed Firmware-3.33 before the ROM - you would have had no "bootloops" at all! The most important thing is to have Firmware-3.33

If you made a backup before flashing you should restore it, or else flash the ROM you had before flashing.
Then use "Titanium Backup" and back up your messages (your contacts are automatically synced with your google account, unless you saved them on the phone, but you can change that with the "people" app.
after you backed your phone up, make a full wipe, and flash the new ROM. Install Titanium Backup and restore your messages backup.
Good luck.

Get a download of the ROM you had before, and you can flash it normally. If you had stock, find a download of stock ROM (although Sense 3.6 custom ROMs might actually work too).
Right

Oh no, I thought you wanted to flash viperS. Flash the ROM you had before flashing, whichever ROM that was (but flash that specific ROM, not a different one. My advice from the previous comment was if you came from stock ROM). If you flash the same ROM you don't have to wipe, and then you can back up your phone.

I hope you can operate adb, because the solution I found requires it.
Go to recovery, and use adbto pull the contacts database with the following command:
adb pull data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts.db
It might give an error for a protected directory (but I don't know since it's going to be done in recovery), if that happens, use 'adb shell' and then 'su'. then exit, and you have root access to the device (do it only if required).
Once you obtained the file, it should be on your adb folder. you need to open it with a database app which supports SQLite3 (I won't reccomend anyrhing since I've never used them. but from a quick search I found a few. and searching in the context of reading android databases would give some recommendations.).
Good luck
p.s - It's hard for me to believe this is the simplest solution. It might work, but it's not easy. So others might give better solutions.

[Q] Problems restoring backup/installing ROMs

Hi Folks, I hope this is posted in the right forum and sorry if I've missed seeing something similar already here.
I have a rooted Verizon GSIII on which I have been flashing custom ROMs and restoring nandroid backups without any problems for a while now (most recently I've been on Paranoid Android). Today I decided to try out Carbon ROM. I generated a nandroid backup using TWRP, then downloaded the ROM (the most recent nightly) and Gapps zip files using GooManager and flashed these after doing a factory reset. After rebooting the phone it seemed to start up OK... but it got as far as trying to find the network, which it unable to do. After selecting the skip option I then tried to sign in to my WiFi, but the keyboard didn't show up for me to type in the password. So I figured I'd cut my losses and just reboot into recovery and restore my PA backup. I was able to reboot into recovery and restore the backup but the PA backup pretty much did the same thing the carbon ROM did... just looped trying to find the network.
So... I'm not sure what went wrong or what to do next. Any suggestions???
I am able to boot the phone into recovery, but I'm afraid to start messing around too much without help as I'm no expert!
I do have the most recent nandroid backup and several earlier ones that did restore OK on my computer. Is there a way to flash any of these to the phone or to go back to stock?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
Wipe catche dalvik factory reset then flash fresh batch of rom and gaaps if that works well getting tru start up then flash ur backup thats what i did.. If that dnt work then u gotta go tru odin back to stock

[Q] Wifi and Camera broken after 4.4.3 update

I have root, s-off, using TWRP recovery. I backed up everything on my external SD card with TWRP, ran (what I think is) RUU to get a clean install and was able to update to 4.4.3. After update, I put TWRP back on, and restored all my apps, still have s-off and root. A couple of things didn't restore (like Tasker), but I chalked that up to them probably being on the internal storage and then erased.
Everything else seemed to be working fine, but my WiFi will not turn on, and the default Sense camera opens to a completely black screen.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ian

To be correct, you are running a 4.4.3 ROM with 4.4.3 firmware right? Also when you try to enable wifi from the status bar does it simply endlessly show its trying to turn it on?
Perhaps a viable option would be to try a factory reset via TWRP, I sometimes encounter issues when doing that after a firmware update. Actually my 4.4.3 was so messed up because of restoring apps that I was forced to go back to my 4.4.2 ROM. Soo as I said, since you have a backup I'd just at least give factory reset a try and if it doesn't fix it then you can restore your backup again.
Try another kernel, I had the same issues

Through TWRP. I put it back on after the update and restored the apps and data (not the system) from the backup I'd made previously.
You could try and flash the stock rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2874699 through twrp and see if it works for you. Don't wipe anything, just try flashing on top of what you have. Might work.

Your posts didn't really make clear what exactly you did: From which rom you took the TWRP nandroid, which rom you restored it back to, what you mean by "you think you ran a RUU", what exactly from the nandroid you restored in TWRP....
Did you restore all of /data? If you did, you restored way more than just your apps and may have compatability issues.
Restoring /data IMHO is not a good idea after doing a firmware upgrade and flashing a corresponding rom.
A better strategy would be to backup just your apps and their data in TiBu and only restore those after you flashed the new firmware and the new rom.
Here's what I would do:
Factory reset in TWRP
Reflash the rom
Reinstall your apps (this time from scratch, next time you'll have a TiBu backup).

Google Maps reboot my phone on any ROM that I have tried for 7.X

Everytime I try and use Google Maps either flashed with gapps/bean or installed later from play store all reboot my phone. Stock does not have any issue.
Tried:
ASOP-CAF
ASOP-EX
MOTOPURE
Lineage
TESLA
I just wonder why if the stock maps app works on 6.0 why not on 7.0?? The only thing I can think of is the GPS.
Any tips or suggestions?
Thanks!
Tried nano, pico and full for ARM and Android 7
open_gapps-arm-7.1-full-20170523
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20170511
open_gapps-arm-7.1-pico-20170513
also BeansGapps-Full-7.1.x-20170509 BeansGapps-Mini-7.1.x-20170509
Ok I have found that other maps reboot the phone too. Tried a GPS test app from play store and soon as I allowed it to access my location it rebooted. So it seems to be definately a GPS issue.

Return to stock by fastboot the lastest images available, flashing everything including the wipes (of course, skip gpt.bin and bootloader.bin if necessary), then take the lastest OTA's, verify operation of GPS... After that install TWRP, backup everything, and flash a ROM and Gapps, do not restore anything and test again.
I can't see how GPS would work with stock and not with ANY custom ROM...

Ok done reflash stock, OTA's and checked gps is fine now backing up... going to use the PureNexus rom or ASOP-CAF
ARRRRRGGGGG Same damn issue... Maps crashes the phone.... so frustrating I am going to give up soon and stick with stock.
Going to try an get a logfile maybe someone can take a look at it
Thanks
ok after phone crashed the first time I rebooted a couple times and its working!!!!!!!!
Thanks to @acejavelin and @Vikas Tewatia for trying to help me with this issue.
I think one of the problems was the way I was wiping after stock to install a custom ROM, instead of just standard TWRP wipe I was using individual selections?
Anyways I am going to further test and then report back. I will close this thread once I am sure everything is working.
Thanks

The recommended way to wipe before installing a ROM is to manually wipe system, data, caches, and internal storage (kind of optional, make sure to move TWRP backups and other info to SD card first), then flash ROM and Gapps. Some people say flash ROM, boot, then shutdown and flash Gapps, but I have never had to do that.
I would be curious to see a logcat of the crash... this is not normal. Are you installing ANYTHING else besides the ROM and Gapps at this point?

I started a bug report (interactive) when I tried to use the maps again but thats when it started working properly. lol
If you know of a way to get logs from the first crash off my phone I would be more than happy to send it to you.
I did a twrp standard wipe this time rather than each partition under advanced wipe, I didn't install anything other than a ROM and either gapps or bean depending on the ROM creators suggestion and that's it!

Well I started getting random reboots in Pure Nexus ROM and so tried LOS and right away I had the reboot from Maps. I give up, staying with stock.
Thanks
Seems like one of my problems could be ASOP-CAF ROM as the version I was flashing uses a custom Kernel that has known issues with 7.1.2 and causes bootloops and crashes. The UltraDev kernel changes some things in the modem and could be why any roms I tried after flashing ASOP-CAF would not change the modem and were 7.1.2 based.
Anyways...
Well I think I have tried almost every 7.x ROM I can find and every single one has a problem with any gps app on my phone.

By messing with my APN settings as per above bug report I can use maps and have no more random reboots. Woop woop
