Understanding model, build and version numbering - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Hi
I recently got this phone and am still trying to wrap my head around the Huawei universe.
Am I reading LON-L29C432B185 correctly when I assume:
LON-L29 = model, Mate 9 pro
C432 = version/region, international
B185 = buildnumber/software version
Or are there traps when looking for the correct firmware for my device?

Just my two cents
LON-L29 - Mate 9 Pro International Model (There is LON-AL00 - Mate 9 Pro Chinese model)
C432 - customization/region - in this case it is Europe. Check this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/regions-mate-9-region-codes-t3555086

Great! Thanks a lot for the thread. I was searching in the wrong forum apparently

Can someone explain the Firmware finder? How can I update to the last FW?

Where can I find the Australia Vodafone version firmware??

I'm using Vodafone Mate 7. I can't wait for the OTA update. So I went to Huawei's official website & found the latest update for Mate 7 L09. (http://consumer.huawei.com/my/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=62843&key0=Mobile Phones&key1=... After I updated to Android 5.1.1 (MT7-L09 Firmware MT7-L09C900B329_Android5.1.1_EMUI3.1), my phone can't use 4G anymore.
Where can I find the Australia Vodafone version firmware?? I can't find it in Vodafone & Huawei official website.
Aussie Vodafone firmware
Hey mate,
Give this one a crack right here - consumer.huawei.com (change to NZ)
its in new zealand but assuming you have the gold version dual sim which is mostly in australia, this should help.
theres a few versions of the mate 7 in australia alone, MT7-TL10, MT7-L09, MT7-L11. You have the find out which one you have.
If its the white, its generally MT7-L09
gold is MT7-TL10
hope this helps

Root MHA-L29 Mate 9 with 6GB of RAM

2 part question:
First part:
Can I buy a MHA-L29 (International / USA Version) of the Mate 9 with 6GB of RAM off of this webstore: http://www.to2c.com/original-huawei...hd-android-7-0-fingerprint-id-smartphone.html
I ask because I've read in a few places that this will be available but I've only seen it available on this one outlet, and I'd like to verify that it's legitimate. Does anyone know this to2c.com?
Second part:
If I get this phone will this root method work on the phone: http://www.stechguide.com/install-twrp-recovery-and-root-huawei-mate-9/
Thanks! Sorry if this a repeat I couldn't find any similar threads.
1. To2c sells chinese AL00 6/128 model with ability to install international ROM (from L29 for example).
I never read and never seen that Huawei did expansion and started to sell 6/128 international model of Mate 9 (not Pro). All news were wrong.
2. Yes. You can get root via that guide. It points to xda topic
Just one note: unlocking bootloader on chinese model will be more difficult.

Auto Rotation does not work

Hello,
I have the MHA-AL00 and since the last 2 firmware updates the auto-rotation stopped working.
I've tried the hard reset (by the way the backup does not store account information and other stuff - had to configure lot's of stuff again by hand after restore) and the problem remains.
It's not rooted, because It's still brand new (7 days old).
One thing I did not try was to wipe the cache partition. would it help?
Also, is there a simple way to install the European firmware? Lot's of apps are in Chinese and it's not possible to change the language...
Thanks.
Cheers.

[NXT-AL10] update to Nougat and EMUI 5.0

Hi guys,
I have just bought a mate 8 nxt-al10 (chinese version, unlocked) two weeks ago on Priceminister, and i've recently seen that the mate 8 received the nougat and emui 5.0 update... My friend got the same phone, but in TL00 version (chinese version too but locked for chinese carriers) and she got the update.....whereas I cannot get it me! In settings tray, when I tap on "check for updates", the phone return to me "no update avaible", whereas I'm sure that my friend has Android 7.0 with emui 5.0..
I live in France and I received my phone with an international rom, NXT-C900B170, already configured at the unboxing.
Can I have help to get the update please?
Thanks
toXa
C900 most likely means that your phone was crossflashed with an international firmware for the L29 variant of the phone. in this state, u wont be able to receive OTA updates, so ull either have to flash an original AL10 firmware or change your regional cust to an L29 variant.

Thx for your reply
Okay thanks... And how can I change the cust to L29 directly or AL10 (and then flash an european rom after)? Whitch is the better method?
Sent from my HUAWEI NEXT using XDA Labs
I tried to flash an AL10 firmware, the last released, via Firmware Finder, but when I try to flash it, the phone returns that the package is uncompatible.. I suppose that the last chance is to change the cust?
Sent from my HUAWEI NEXT using XDA Labs
for changing cust, u can use the so called SRK tool, you can find it in one of the mate 8 sub sections
Okay thanks
I will try it soon, I keep you informed

Hi,
I just have finished to unlock the bootloader and I have a question.. will I receive OTA updates if I flash L29 rom?
Where can I find a L29 rom? Can firmware finder do the job?
Hello friend toXaGeek
I have seen your comments and I am in the same situation as your cell phone.
You can please share if you came to solve what you were talking about.
Please, if so. Please detail what you have done, I am asking you this because I am new to this and I am going to flash my equipment
Thank you very much for your help.
Greetings.

Im in the same dish as you boss, can i install a nougat global firmware on a NXT-L29C900B156 ?

Will the firmware for US Mate 9 also work well on a non-US Mate 9?

The firmware of HUAWEI Mate 9 for US edition(MHA-L29) phone is available on Huawei official website.
http://consumer.huawei.com/us/support/mobile-phones/mate9-us-sup.htm
I just wonder whether this firmware will also work well on non-US edition Mate 9, such as China edition one.
Thank you in advance.
I am using the B190 as my allday since rollout. I am in Germany. No Problem Vodafone Germany LTE

Yep. On Mate 9 you can rebrand to any region. Have to unlock bootloader (and factory reset) while processing.
I have a Chinese Mate 9 running US as my main phone, it's great!
