I have a problem with play store . When i start a download and screen goes off , the store doesn't finish the installation of the app until i turn on the screen. It go worse when i update or download a list of apps as i have to make sure screen is on all the time.
I checked the settings of wifi and battery optimisation and nothing looks wrong ( the play store app itself isn't in the list of protected and unprotected battery optimisation apps)
I did factory reset and nothing changed
Thx in advance

Device manager - screen off lock - protect play store from auto-hibernation after screen off
Had this problem since Gingerbread. You need to make sure Play Store isn't killed after screen off.

I don't have anything xalled Device manager, there is Phone manager but there is no option with this name as you mentioned
In fact there is protected apps that supposed to be apps not being hibernated when screen is off, sadly play store is not shown in the list

Go to Settings- battery-Close app after screen lock and untick the Google play store from the list.
Go to settings- APPs- setting-Speacial access- ignore optimzation-select all apps from drop down-google play store and click allow.
let me know if this works.
As you can see from the phoots, I don't have the same settings option as you said Shashank1320
(I am on marshmallow as I didn't receive update)
You can see also that Google play store dowlesnt have the option to be turned off or on when screen locks , but Google play books (also the usual other apps ) have this option

Refer my screenshot below
And one more thing, I think that there is no problem installing apps through 1. mobile data 2. wifi when I am charging the phone
this needs more checking as the downlading time differs according to the size of apps

Sorry for being late but I wasn't able to test yesterday
Unfortunately that didn't help, after some time the play store app goes to sleep and I am unable to change that.
I wonder if this is a bug in software version or my phone is defected :crying:. If anyone still on marshmallow and can have a look for me will be great.

Hii everyone i am using moto g xt1033 with stock rom, unrooted, bootloader locked..i am having noticeable battery drain on my moto g when my phone is idle..i found that google play services(google location service) is causing the battery drain..i tried to force stop but doesnt work..just disabling the app works...but the google play services is necessary for google apps like youtube, playstore, gmail etc..so plzz give me any solution to stop this unnecessary battery drain...thank you
On Un rooted the only option you can try is
1. Disconnect Internet
2. Uninstall Google play services update
3. Clear cache via recovery
4. Connect to Internet and use your phone normally.. Let Google play services update automatically..
This might help

i had tried to uninstall google play service update...then the battery drain stops but the thing is many google apps require new version of google play services to work..that is the reason i am so irritated with this thing..i tried many things but nothing works
Can you point out the battery drain so we can see if it is abnormal? Your screenshots only show that it is running, which means nothing since it is always running on all devices.
Upon reading your post it appears some app is constantly pinging for location. My solution is to either find the rogue app or simply turn off location (gps).

i do not use gps its most of the tym turned off..and currently i have disabled google play services so i cant post screenshot regarding battery drain..but the point is that google location services always keeps running in background taking much RAM and i think this service is generating unnecessary events for location, which results in waking up the cpu frequently, wasting cpu cycles which results in battery drain during the phone is idle..and i also downloaded an app namely GserviceFix but this app also didnt work for me..so any suggestion
Use greenify pro
Google play services will always be running.
I faced this issue some time back.. I had to root my device and use AppOps to disable wake ups from Google play services..

i know that but some services are not necessary like location services it keeps always running and drains your battery..and you cant force stop that..this issue was not before Google play services version 6..when it got updated to version 6 then this problem arises..you can check process stats in developer options..than you will came to know its not normal. it keeps running all the time.dont you ever noticed battery drain during night when your phone is in idle mode..which version of google play services are you using???are you rooted or not..well i think @madman will also try to help you make understand...he is a senior member here and well knowing...

bro i tried that app also and used that several times but didnt work..
Is there any solution for that? Im experiencing battery drain on 5.1.1., then on Euphoria-OS, no matter the version (20.08.2015 now).
I can use private setting to blok waking up and preventing a sleep for Google Play Service but then I have error message "google services stopped" every other second.
Came across 2 apps today that I get "your device isn't compatible with this version" messages. These are 2 apps I use on my axon 7 with Android 7.0 so I know they work with nougat. I've tried deleting the cache and data for the play store and Google services but still the same. Anyone have this issue or any ideas on how to stop it? Also can anyone else check the "apple music" app and see if they can install it?

Some apps just won't be compatible until the developer(s) make the app compatible specifically for the Mate 9. However, I was able to download the Apple Music app.

Well that's interesting. I'm running the us version of the phone fully stock so what would be preventing me from installing it? My play store version is 7.5.08.M-all Phone software MHA-L29567B138

Are these 2 apps on Play Store the same versions of those you used on your axon 7 with Android 7.0?
As I know, some apps will not work with Android 7.0 until their developers have distributed the latest versions and have made them compatible with nougat.
Yes, in fact I just uninstalled them on my axon 7 and reinstalled them to verify them
Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
Decided to reset the phone this morning and see if that fixed it. Before any updates took I was able to install the 2 apps showing as incompatible, however after about 10 minutes they went back to "your device isn't compatible with this version". I uninstalled the updates to the Google Play Store as well as Google Play Services and they still said "your device isn't compatible with this version" even though I checked the Play store build number and it was the same before the update and after uninstalling the update. Some update somewhere is causing a compatibility issue and I'm not sure what it is. I may have to reset the device again and not update any of the built in apps like Gmail, Youtube, etc. and hopefully catch whats causing it.
Edit: Reset again and everything was fine. Google play store was on version 7.4.12.L.all [0] [pr] 144479971 and remained there. Installed one of the apps I was having trouble with then updated system apps one at a time. After each system app I checked the other incompatible app and everything was good. Then after updating google maps the app went back to "your device isn't compatible with this version" so I uninstalled the maps update and cleared the cache and data and the app remained "your device isn't compatible with this version" . The play store stayed on version 7.4.12.L.all [0] [pr] 144479971 and play services never updated from what I could tell. This and some of the software bugs are becoming a bit aggravating. Really hoping the update comes soon and fixes some of the issues.
It's a DPI issue...You have to set display view to large, then install whatever apps you want, then set back to small or medium. That should fix for you.

Well I was hoping that would fix it but it didn't. I set the display view to large, rebooted. That didn't work so I cleared the play store and play services cache and that didn't do it either. Lastly I cleared the play store and play services data and rebooted and that didn't work either.
I'm not sure what's causing it since both the play store and play services are the exact same versions on my mate 9 and axon 7.
Edit: OK this is just stupid. I put the view back to small and font back to normal (where I've had it this whole time except to try the above fix) and now the app allowed me to install it. I don't know what fixes it but at least it's working lol.

Having this same issue with Amazon Store App. Works fine on my PixelXL and Nexus 6P...but for some strange reason, I cannot install it on my Mate 9. Go figure. It's really the ONLY app I'm having this issue with. All my other play store apps installed fine, and my settings and logins work fine. But for the life of me - I cannot install the Amazon Store app, even thought I have successfully installed the Amazon Kindle app. too strange....

Have you tried changing the display size? That definitely has something to do with it and even though for me it didnt work at first it definitely solved the issue. Change it to large, reboot and try, if no go wipe the play store data and play services data and reboot and try again. Keep changing the display size after that and eventually it will work. For me I had given up and set my device back to small which is where it originally was and out of nowhere it worked.
Now if they could just resolve Hulu without having to contact customer service things would be great.
Hi all
I was just launching some activities from the Nova Launcher through which I accidentally opened the Google Assistant! With Lollipop! On a tablet!
Without much wait, Let's start
Pre-Requistites-
Latest Google App(Mine was 7.3.18.21)
An Android Lollipop or Lollipop+ Device
Nova Launcher
A Working Brain
Let's Go!
Open Nova Launcher
Long-Press on Home Screen
Select Widgets
Click on Activities
Scroll Down till you find Google App and Click on it
Scroll down and select com.google.android.apps.gsa.staticplugins.opa.hq.OpaHqActivity
A Google Assistant icon will appear on your screen, click on it
Click on Your Stuff
Click on add reminder and then close it
Open Google App, open menu, and then Settings
There you should see Google Assistant
Your turn, teach the Assistant your voice and start playing with it
Do not even try to post a "Thanks". Press :good: button if you want to say thanks, it really helps a lot!

UPDATEGoogle App's June 28th update(7.6.9 Beta) just removed the Your Stuff screen. Users who already enabled Assistant by this method have this screen. Other users with latest Google App can't enable Google Assistant by using this method. I recommend downgrading to Google App v7.3, enabling Assistant from the above method and then upgrading to latest one.
UPDATE 2Google App 7.10 update doesn't let people use Google Assistant if they don't meet the requirements, >1.5 Gb of memory and 720p or higher screen resolution.
There's a workaround, to use Google App v7.8 till there's another workaround :silly:. I need someone to test this out as I have 2GB RAM.
UPDATE 3Google comes to the rescue and Google Assistant is now available on devices with Android 5.0 and above!Just make sure you meet all the requirements and you're good to go.
UPDATE 4Got Assistant working, with 7.1.2, and 1 GB RAM! Google website still states 1.5 GB RAM as a requirement. So just test, and report it here.
Frequently Added Questions
When I open the Your Stuff tab, it is empty.
Change language to English(US) and clear the cache of Google App.(Credits to @Ezekiel3)
How can I use Assistant by long-pressing the home button?
Check out this awesome app by @Jovic77 here.
When I launch the activity, it just flashes for a second and goes away.
Clear data of Google App and Play Services, and then launch the activity.
I can't see Your Stuff tab.
Downgrade to Google App v7.3 from sources such as APK Mirror. You can upgrade to latest one after enabling Google Assistant.
EditNow you can't. Only those meeting the requirements will get Assistant.

I've noticed that the Mate 9's apps aren't in the play store. It doesn't appear it has it's own Store either. How the heck do they update?
They either have the auto-update or they do not update at all.
MetroPCS has some apps installed on their Samsungs and are not present in any store. So they either update automatically, or they do not update at all.

Oh for sure. I usually give the built in apps a shot because when you theme the phone, none of the non-huawei apps obviously theme and it throws the look off. I know that seems stupid, but hey. Also, I know this isn't Samsung, but have you ever tried to use 3rd party apps instead of theirs? All kinda of crap doesn't work right from the gallery to messaging and so on.

I tried googling "hiapp apk" and it led me straight to Huawei's official app store where HiApp is available for download...
alternatively try to connect to HiSuite on your computer... there it would also prompt you to update the different apps when new versions become available...
HiApp is its own app store for Huawei mobiles and tablets. And you can download the package installer, . apk file, for HiApp store from official website of Huawei as below.

But the problem is, EMUI 8.0 comes with AppGallery instead of HiApp which doesn't contain the Google Play Store. So, when I had upgraded to Oreo, I wanted to flash OpenGapps and I encountered two errors:
1. I couldn't get the twrp working (the one that came from Huawei Multi Tool bricked my device)
2. Even If I could get twrp and flashed OpenGapps, it would show me insufficient storage error.

Ikr. The AppGallery on my phone contained absolutely no Google apps except Youtube. And, even if it had Play Store, installing it from AppGallery would install it as a normal app, not a system app. Wouldn't that cause problems?
I noticed that Play Store,Gmail,Youtube doesn't do works in background For example, when I choose to update all the apps of Play Store and my phone goes to sleep the updates stop running in the background. Gmail only shows me notifications of new e-mail when I actually open the app itself. Could these be because the apps are not system apps?

Installing as non-system app won't cause any problems with Play Store. There's a reason Huawei served it through its App Store to ensure it is installed correctly. The rest of Google Services are already included in EMUI 8.
About your apps getting killed in background, that's obviously because they are non-system apps. That's how Huawei power management works. But you have the option to set apps to not close even if your screen is locked. The option is in Settings so find it
