Some of the apps are updated in the "background" and NOT via "Google Play Store" and/or "Galaxy Apps"...
Also: "staged rollout" is used

Market as separate app

Hey people, I rebooted my phone this morning, and then opened up an app I use called "AppMonster" (previously "AppManager"), which shows me all my installed apps and allows me to uninstall them or backup, etc.
I sort the apps in date order, meaning at the top it shows me the latest app i downloaded or updated. At the top of the list today I saw the official android Market app, which I myself did not update, because it never showed up in this app list before, in the same way as GMail and other built-in android system apps. Now it's giving me an option to uninstall the market.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is this another silent update that happened in the same way as the UK Google Maps got updated by itself with navigation recently?
BTW this post isn't because I'm having an issue or anything, just wondering if anyone else has the same thing?
Regards
You could search for Market in /data/app/ directory. If there is com.android.vending.apk , then you are right - you have updated version of Market.

GM wasn't updated silently - that was misinformation spread by Engadget. But Market has its own updater, so it might be updated differently than other apps.

Google Play not auto-updating apps

Google Play doesn't seem to want to auto-update apps on my device, it's been like this for a few weeks since I clean installed of YNG1TAS17L, so I have to do it manually. It worked once when I set the option to "Auto-update apps at any time" but I can't risk using this as it would use up mobile data.
Any ideas on what the issue could be?

Are your Google Play Services updated?
Is your Google Play Store updated?
Did you try rebooting the device?
Have you forced stop or disabled any Google service?

Google Play Services is 7.3.29 (That's dated April 21st, but matches my Nexus 7 version and apps auto-update fine)
Play Store is 5.5.12
Also had lots of reboots
Only Google Play Movies & TV, Play Music, and Hangouts have been frozen
Also, my device installs new apps from the Play store when initiated from Google Play on a desktop PC no problem, but all the updates are still ignored, despite needing no permission changes.

Did you try changing the settings to default for Google Play Store?
Clear data and clear cache of this app
Reboot and try
If still it doesn't work, I guess you need to reinstall the OS

Didn't work either, guess I'm out of luck. I'll update manually for now until next COS 12 release

Hi
When I log into the Web version of the Google Play store, I see some applications that says they are installed on my phone, but in reality, they are not installed on my Samsung Galaxy S3.
Last year, my phone was out of service for 2-3 months (I had a spare cell), and I think this is the cause. When my phone crashed, I believe I had those applications listed in Play Store (web) installed at the time. After I finally came around at installing the stock ROM (Bell Canada), then these applications showed up.
Is there a way to re sync what I have installed on my phone (Google Play store android app) and the Web version of Google Play store?
Thank you for your help

I would suggest opening the play store app. Click the menu, and select my apps. Then select all. From there, by clicking the "x" next to uninstalled apps, you will remove any apps you are not using.

Samsung apps update problem (SM-G955U1)

Hey everyone...
I recently purchased a Galaxy S8+ (SM-G955U1) and I'm having some problems with it.
The Samsung native apps like Messages, Phone, Contacts, etc don't get updated, but in their "about" section which shows the version, says this app is up to date. I even tried going to Galaxy Apps and tried updating from there, but there is no update available. My phone itself is apparently up to date as well, but I'm not sure.
This is the software version installed:
G955U1UEU1AQH3
I went to apk websites and saw that almost all the samsung native apps on my phone are at least a couple versions out of date, and it's really bothering and annoying. To a point that my samsung messages app, doesn't even have "delivery report" option for sms. It's just not there...
2 of my family members have also Galaxy S8 pluses, and their phones function well, and everything is up to date!
So, how can I fix this problem on my phone without modding it or anything because I want my phone to remain mod free!
I will appreciate your help VERY VERY much!
Go to Galaxy apps, upper right for menu, my apps, updates

What website you are using I'd like to see if my apps are updated.
load new versions from apkmirror.com, then for being able to install them without getting the "package exists" error you have to change the secure startup (off if on and vice versa), then you are able to update these system apps!

Still having issues after toggling the secure startup feature. Anyone have any other idea? Right now I still get the "package exists" error. I even try going up only one version at a time.

I figured it out. I was being too impatient before. Go to apkmirror or similar sites and download the apks to the phone. Once downloaded, you need to toggle secure startup (if it is on the turn it off, but if off then you will need to turn it on). After you do that, immediately restart your phone. Once booted, head directly to the download folder and install all of the apks. Do not launch any of the apps to verify until you finish loading all of the apks or you will have to repeat the process. Once you are done, you can launch which ever app to verify. I had an issue with the apps crashing at first so I rebooted and all issues went away for now at least.
Good luck. You can also set apkmirror to notify you when a new version comes out if you so choose to go that route.

System partition size

Is the size of my system partition correct? I can't flash GApps or anything else with this small free space.
It is normal. I have only 16 MB remaining...

But the problem is, EMUI 8.0 comes with AppGallery instead of HiApp which doesn't contain the Google Play Store. So, when I had upgraded to Oreo, I wanted to flash OpenGapps and I encountered two errors:
1. I couldn't get the twrp working (the one that came from Huawei Multi Tool bricked my device)
2. Even If I could get twrp and flashed OpenGapps, it would show me insufficient storage error.

Strange. When I upgraded to Oreo I was able to easily download Google Play Store and get it working.

Ikr. The AppGallery on my phone contained absolutely no Google apps except Youtube. And, even if it had Play Store, installing it from AppGallery would install it as a normal app, not a system app. Wouldn't that cause problems?
I noticed that Play Store,Gmail,Youtube doesn't do works in background For example, when I choose to update all the apps of Play Store and my phone goes to sleep the updates stop running in the background. Gmail only shows me notifications of new e-mail when I actually open the app itself. Could these be because the apps are not system apps?

Installing as non-system app won't cause any problems with Play Store. There's a reason Huawei served it through its App Store to ensure it is installed correctly. The rest of Google Services are already included in EMUI 8.
About your apps getting killed in background, that's obviously because they are non-system apps. That's how Huawei power management works. But you have the option to set apps to not close even if your screen is locked. The option is in Settings so find it

What if I were to make them system app (App Systemizer module from Magisk) instead of changing that settings?
