Can't change Mac ADDRRES. - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, non-native english posting for some help.
So I have a Moto G 2015 XT1542 and I've tried in Resurrection Remix and LineageOs aswell trying to change Mac ADDRRES with the app Change My Mac and the phones reboot by itself.
I've tried too with the Terminal Emulator but nothing changes also when I try use root explorer it just doesn't work, same with other apps.
I got rooted both rooms.
Anyone knows something?

i don't think you can change the MAC address.

Go to /proc/config/wifi_mac/ and open the "ascii" file with a text editor that has root permission. Your WiFi Mac is on the left, your Bluetooth Mac is on the right. They are separated by commas. Change it, save it, reboot, profit. I suggest backing this file up, as there is no way to get it back.

just curious... why would one change his/her MAC address for BT/Wifi?

If you're properly rooted, then its probably selinux. Try setting it to permissive. The command in terminal is "setenforce 0" no quotes. Try editing it after that. You can verify you're in permissive by checking the about phone section in settings. This works for me on LOS14.1 and stock 6.0.1.
Edit: Just checked, I can't directly copy the ASCII file with selinux in permissive, however, I can edit and save it though, and also copy the text in it, and paste it to a new text file.

Are you rooted? Lineage is not rooted by default. This is about the only thing that would prevent you from using root apps.

The su add-on has a problem being seen by rootexplorer. Flash either SuperSU 2.79 or magisk 12.0+. It will fix it. It's fine to flash over the su add-on. Never hurt anything in my experience. Also, don't forget to set selinux to permissive. Magisk has a permissive selinux module here on xda if you go with them.

Did you get a root prompt from magisk and also put selinux in permissive mode? If you use magisk you also have to install magisk manager. I can't imagine what the problem could be otherwise. I've used this method on two different ospreys without any issues.

Try switching default access to "grant" in the supersu settings.
Did you update to this SU from within recovery?

From what I understand its a problem with the latest version of SuperSU (0.89), where a few apps will not work unless you set the defualt setting to "Grant" instead of "Prompt" as another described above.
Unless you happen to know that the version you linked works with Root Explorer? If so, please let us know.

For some apps (e.g. leandroid, wakelock detector) it's not enough. So which version is the proper one?

You probably have no idea how to properly set SU. It is already included in proper way and you should not flash any other version over it because it will cause bootloops.

What I meant is you should not flash anything because you already have included a great working SU into this rom. All you need to do is just set proper privileges in settings (Marshmallow thingy) and voila. If you can't do certain things or allow certain actions you have 99% chance that's sth with permissions in app or SU settings.

ES Explorer Can't Get Root

I have a G930F and installed TWRP + rooted with no issues. I can run rooted apps off of it as well like Titanium, Greenify, CF.Lumen, etc...
Although when I try the Root Explorer in ES File Manager, it keeps on telling me "Sorry test failed. This feature cannot run on your device". It doesn't look like it's even asking for root permissions. I tried different combinations of installing/uninstalling/rebooting and they don't seem to help. Any thoughts on what to do next?
Or if this is unfixable, any suggestions on what other file manager to use? Features I'm looking for include:
- Standard search/sort/filter/copy/cut/paste/delete
- Root Explorer
- FTP/SFTP support
- Configurable shortcuts/favorites
Thanks

I'd suggest solid explorer, very similar to es explorer but none of the app scanning and permissions crap that's recently been introduced in es.
Or just thinking out loud, would it be possible to add it to SuperSU's list without it requesting for access?

I used to have an HTC M7 with the ARHD rom, and the rom came with it by default so I got used to it. I have to admit that there are some things I wish it would do that it doesn't. But I would say about 90% of what I need is available there.
But since I am starting fresh with a new phone, I'm open to suggestions if you have another root file explorer in mind. Pretty much the only thing outside of the standard functions that I need is sftp support, so I can copy/paste files to/from my mac.

Do you have folders with certain root related phrases in their name on your internal storage? I remember getting this popup everytime I had a folder that contains the phrase "root" in its name
or when I did not rename the default TitaniumBackup folder. The "TitaniumBackup" folder was almost certain to trigger the root detection for me, so I'm now always renaming it to just "TB".
Maybe you have a folder too that's causing this problem?

[Help] - Can't R/W on Root Explorer after root by Magisk

Dear All,
I am using the Pixel 5 with Android 13 Build No: TQ1A.230105.001 and I rooted by flashed the image from Magisk app through ADB.
I checked and the phone said ROOTED and I cant grant access to apps but when I change font by any app, it isn't work and I copy in Root Explorer, I can't change the button "MOUNT R/W".
What can I do now? Should I re-root or flash again???
Thank you and waiting for your help.

I'm still stock recovery.
Boot into stock recovery. Take a photo for me. If you can’, just tell me if there’s a option that starts with “mount” and what does it say?
From Android 10 and above, the system has changed to one Super Partition. This means that the system cannot be mounted as R/W as it's Read-only by nature.
There is a tool Universal SystemRW that supposedly converts the Read-only to R/W. I haven't tried it personally but it looks very promising.

No, TWRP can mount too. And stock recovery for some devices
Root explorer is screwed up for some pixel ROMs including lineage so I don't know about stock. It will crash when trying to read many files, specifically text files you should normally be able to read or edit. It's working on the latest pixel experience ROM but crashed on two other roms I was trying
