My U11 (64Gb Eu version) is completely stock, bootloader locked. Today the Home button stopped working-including the fingerprint sensor. It doesn't recognize any touch. After some restart-wich didn't solve the problem-I decided to make a factory reset. It didn't help and on top of that, the fingerprint menu has disappeared from Settings .
Did anybody experienced something like this?
If something that should be in the Settings section is missing after a Factory Reset & you didn't modify it, sounds like it's time to get a warranty replacement.
I had this once after getting the phone wet, dryed off imidiately but took about an hour for the fingerprint reader and button to work again. Maybe not as water resistant as they're advertising with?

It was never really wet... Started quite suddenly. It must be some hardver related issue. I bought it only two weeks ago, so I called the shop to arrange the warranty. Thank you guys for the responses.:good:

Just had to power phone off and on to make home pottom work again
that is weard
Having the problem now. I did not get the phone wet at all. I tried resetting it, no luck. Fingerprint option is in settings, but doesn't load, with the phone freezing for a bit, and then nothing.
And I'm experiencing the same issue. Please someone help. HTC customer service is the worst I ever experienced and I don't want to send the phone to them.
EDIT : PROBLEM SOLVED !
JUST BOOT INTO SAFE MODE AND IT WILL WORK ! After that you can reboot normally and it will continue to work.
Boot to safe mode : turn off your HTC u11, press power button to turn it on as you do usually, but when the white htc logo appears, press and hold volume down until the phone boots completely.
Didn't work for me
I think you have to reset your phone to factory settings. Backup your data and try it. Let it boot, then power off the phone and power it again to safe mode.

Didn't work for me. Reset everything except internal storage and recovery. Didn't even get asked for fingerprint on setup...like the hardware disappeared. Woke up next day, rebooted, and it worked. PITA to not have a home button!

It happened to me again. Two nights in a row. I was walking in rain lastnight, and problem started several hours later. Seems to be issue on other devices as well: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...vailable-issue-started-out-of-nowhere.450914/
If we have TWRP, would we wipe or erase cache? I thought erase was more thorough?
I followed advice in above thread and let phone battery fully drain, and tried to power on again to make sure battery is dead. Then fully charge to 100%. Don't think that worked, it was late. This am, once again, after charging all night, I reboot and it works.
I'm on Leedroid, rooted with AOSP lock screen. I wonder if the "don't require PIN after boot" setting is causing problems? And this option is both in Lee Tweaks and System Security.... not sure I understand the difference. I'm also having to enter a PIN on a System prompt when I boot... not the normal lockscreen. Also, I have to enter a PIN when I start TWRP.... weird.
So is this hardware or software issue? Should we send it back? Is there a 30 day money back guarantee?
Hi,
I have the issue since last update I did recently is 1.24.400.8 . Did factory reset multiple times and fingerprint settings option has totally disappeared. Did get wet in water or anything. Please help. It's a new phone and did not expect this from HTC
Please suggest if any workaround or fixes. Thanks.

I dont know how it started but, since last update 1.27.400.8, the fngerprint aka home button is almost dead. How does full charge and reboot helps? Does booting in safe mode helps ?
can we downgrade HTC u11 to first firmware
Before updating
Can this make the sensor work again?

Should I make factory reset from settings or in recovery mode?

Anyone have a problem with there home button not working after taking the lollipop ota from Verizon. My m8 works flawlessly but my buddy says his home button doesn't work anymore on his m8. Just seeing if there was a solution to fix it. Thanks
No issues with home here. Might be a hardware failure with coincidental timing?
I booted his phone into stock recovery and then cleared the cache. Rebooted then it worked only for a bit then quit working again. U think I need to do a factory reset on it. Sounds like something is conflicting with the new update.
Hey, I just started having this problem. Phone was running fine for a whole month, then randomly the home button stops until I reboot. only stays good for about half a day. I factory reset and even redownloaded/flashed my ROM (Viper). No fix. Also uninstalled several apps that I had recently installed. No clue what's the freakin deal here. Recent apps button also stops working when HOME stops. Very frustrating.
Could be the digitizer going bad. The top of mine was acting similarly for a few days, then the top 1/2" or so completely stopped working. Had to send it in and get the screen replaced by HTC (for free).

Thank you. Unfortunately I tried that twice already. Didn't help. Thinking about doing a factory reset (instead of just wiping in Aroma) and not restoring my apps from Titanium Backup. Although I wonder what data stays behing after a wipe than can effect his. Or what app that I did restore changes the home button behaviour.
Hello. Just got my second s6 edge today. First one I updated and got the usual screen rotation issue. This one I have NOT clicked on the update and so far it works just fine. Is it the update messing these phones up or is it something else? I know this has been asked a lot but I wanted to ask instead of digging through tons of sites on this all night. If it is the update is there a way to turn off notifications for updates for now? Im in my 14 day window but don't want to mess with going to the store again for number 3. Thank you for any help on this matter! Tempted to update to see but waiting. Using PC to charge instead of the fast charger as well.
It's not the update. I've updated mine and it's fine. Download the update, install the update, turn off the phone. Restart into recovery mode ( hold vol up, home button and power button until the recovery comes up) Do a master reset/wipe. Reboot into the phone and you should be good to go.

So this isn't a hardware malfunction with the gyroscope? Fast charge is ok and all?
I did the OCF update and no issues so far. Fast charging, gyroscope, auto brightness, deep sleep, all seem to be working fine.
What does a master reset/wipe do?

It wipes all your data and programs and returns the phone to factory default. Its like when you first got the phone, you have to go thru setup all over again. It actually called Factory Data Reset
I like doing it whenever I get a new update just so that it's fresh and clean. I'm talking about the one on to recovery screen. Not the factory reset in the Settings. I think there's a difference but I could be wrong.

That's good to know, thanks.
I'm personally gonna hold off flashing until 5.1 comes out. My S6E is just too stable with great battery life & no software issues and I'm nervous about something changing.
Hope Samsung releases 5.1 or 5.1.1 quickly.

I have the Verizon variant of the Galaxy S6
A few different times now the capacitive buttons stopped working. They don't light up, they don't work, and there is no haptic feedback from them. It always happens after a restart, but not the first restart.
I have tried factory reset and that didn't work. I had to flash my phone using Verizon's repair assistant to fix the problem.
The second time it happened I thought it was due to installing that Galaxy Lights app everyone is talking about. I booted into safe mode, uninstalled the app and restarted. Once I did it worked for a few more days before it happened again. I did a full repair to fix it.
A few minutes ago it happened again. This time I haven't installed that app or any other apps that would affect the buttons. I am rooted with Ping Pong but I haven't done anything other than remove a few bloatware items and use Titanium Backup.
Any suggestions? I'm desperate to find the problem and a solution so I don't have to keep resetting my phone. Thanks!
So, I booted into safe mode and the buttons were working fine. I didn't do anything and restarted into normal boot mode. Now the buttons are working just fine. We'll see what happens in the next few days if it reaccures.
Has anyone else had similar problems with them stop working?
Problem Again
I rebooted my phone and the buttons stopped working again. Booting into safe mode doesn't fix the problem.
I haven't installed any apps recently and no apps at all that would have an impact on the soft keys. I have a small hunch it may be caused by having a handful of apps open as i restart.
Any special resets or things I should try to get my soft keys working again?
This just happened to me today.
Galaxy S6, VZW.
Buttons were working just fine, and then suddenly stopped working as I was using the phone.
I had noticed a strange screen briefly that looked like the task manager but had no "close all" at the bottom, but I dismissed it and then shortly thereafter the buttons seemed to just stop working.
Haven't tried a safe mode boot yet. Will do that shortly.
If this is going to become a recurring thing, I'm sad.

Nope. No dice. Soft buttons (capacitive) not working at all (not lighting up at all either - even at boot).
Any ideas?
That sucks
Try uninstalling any recent apps that might affect haptic feedback, display settings, etc while in safe mode.
Otherwise you'll have to flash using Verizon recovery software. It'll install itself once you connect your phone to your PC. This will completely reset your phone so be sure to backup.
If you don't want to do all that just use "Handy Soft Keys"
It'll make a floating widget with the soft keys. I ultimately had to do a warranty exchange with VErizon.
I've had the same thing happen to me. Capacitive buttons just stopped working after having the phone for a week.
I've tried rebooting, running the battery down to 0, rebooting to safe mode. Nothing seems to work.
I've enabled the "tablet software buttons" (qemu.hw.mainkeys=0) in the interface so I can still use it for now, was hoping they'd magically start working again so I don't have to get a warranty (refurb) replacement.
Anyone else find something that fixed them?

Best advice I have is to flash your phone back to stock.
I still haven't restarted my phone, I really don't want them to stop working again.

Nope.
I tried a full factory reset/wipe, to no avail.
Took it to the VZW store and they got me a replacement no questions, though. The new phone has been working fine -- -- -- so far...
seems its a hardware issue. I've tried different ROMs flashing through Odin. Nothing happened. Sometime works, sometime not!!!
Anyone else have an issue with unlocking the phone either by the power button or fingerprint scanner? My phone at times just sits there when i try to unlock it and will sometimes restart when i press the power button again when its frozen. Anyone else have that issue?
I have the s8+ from tmobile. I tried factory resseting and even updated to the new update. No luck. Any ideas?
Same, looks like a bug in the OS
Good!!! Better than getting a faulty device. Hopefully it can be fixed soon!
Mine froze and went to black screen after i downloaded and applied new theme. And when i press the home button i can feel the haptic feedback. I tried charging the phobe but there was no light too. I just perform a hard reset with the power + volume down keys.
You jinxed me... I read this thread but didn't bother clicking on it because I wasn't having the issue...
well... just did it. iris unlock, and then I got a reset and power button wasn't turning it on for a minute.
Hopefully it will be fixed
Yep
Hello, No issues on my S8+ from Tmobile.
Do you have a theme installed that maybe is causing the delay?
I learned from other posts from xda, when doing a factory reset, do NOT perform a backup and restore for apps. This causes some delays in response from the phone. Is better always to install fresh the apps from the app store and then just log in.
I also recommend enabling the developer options and disable all three animations to off. This will speed the phone response.

No themes and installed the apps fresh on the second time. Has only happened twice since the reset so it improved. Now i just give it time if it freezes on me when unlocking so that it doesnt reboot.
I'm having an issues were using the messeges app makes my phone freeze
Hey all, I'm just curious if anyone else's phone has been acting up after the Oreo update. Ever since Oreo was released, apps would freeze and it forces me to restart my phone. Even apps like camera, contacts, and dialer freeze and it's frustrating. I literally restart my phone about 10 times if not more a day. I've contacted Huawei themselves and have done exactly as they instructed and I'm still having the same problems. Does anyone have the solution to this?
Bad sd card, sim card?
I get that notification throughout the day
I've had Oreo on my Mate 9 since December 2017, not a single application behaves like that. Haven't even performed a factory reset after the update, let alone after the monthly security patches. Everything works just like they should. I'd say perform a factory reset, but I'm sure you've tried that already.

Sure. Turn off device, then turn on holding vol+ and power buttons until Huawei logo shows up. Select wipe cache and reboot.
