Will the hybrid Sim slot hack work for xzp ? - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

I'm using the Z3 DS D6633 with 2 full SIM card slots and separate SD card slot. So thinking about changing it to XZP but do not want to loose one SIM card because hybrid slot. Anybody tried the hack (gluing the SIM card to SD card with thin tape) ? Some phone models work with it some do not due to hardware/software lock of simultaneous SD/SIM usage.

bump

Yea, just use some old unneeded SIM and the same SD card. It is interesting to know :
a) is it works ?
b) is it hardware lock (so can't be avoided)
c) is it software lock (can be easily hacked using xposed or so)
I do not have the phone so can't check by my own.

Just got the phone, checked. Seems like hardware issue - nothing works, if inserted both, nor SD nor SIM card ;(

SD glued sim that I have works with Galaxy S8 and LG G6 but not XZP. It will detect SD but not sim in this case.

second SIM or memory slot??

I have a UK moto G 16gb. You can see on the bottom side (under back cover) diagonally opposite normal sim slot a 'shape' of a card slot on the inner plastic back. It is filled in, but resembles an SD or micro sim slot.
I just viewed these teardown pics:
http://www.areamobile.de/b/2267-teardown-das-moto-g-und-die-speicher-frage-update#g.2267.4.3800
Here you can see there is indeed a card slot, on the mainboard where this filled in Opening is. I know there is a Dual SIM variant of this phone. Could it be that ALL Moto G's have the hardware but it is just software disabled??
The link also finds where a standard SD memory card has been used but is sealed under a case on the mainboard. This suggests we 'may' be able to upgrade the internal memory at some point with some tinkering. Will require a brave person to try first though as will possibly destroy the phone. Shows how MOTO saves some money using SD card on board rather than a flash memory die.
This one yet again. It is *not* an SD card seen in that misguided German teardown, it's an eMMC chip and no you won't be able to upgrade it - search the forum, e.g.:

I took one of these apart to try and work out the rattly vibrate.
I believe that the second SIM slot is an empty frame soldered onto the board in order to support the battery completely. I couldn't see any pins in it to contact a SIM card, or any eject mechanisms. You can see here I believe the differences between the two SIM sockets

@helppme
There is a Dual Sim version of the Moto G for sale in Brazil but our normal Moto G phones lack some parts (aswell as a second IMEI).

6 Plus - sim not recognized

Hi,
I got my Huawei Honor 6 Plus yesterday from ibuygou.com. Phone is awesome, especially camera. I just love it. However I have a problem with Micro SIM card slot. It doesn't seem to recognise any of my sim cards. It just says no card/insert sim card. Where as Nano slot works just fine with nano card. Did anyone experience this? Any work around? Thanks.

Aaaannnnndddddddd, i shipped it back. Can't use the phone without working phone functionality. I wonder if it is because if the phone doesnt support Swedish sim card or if something is wrong/broken on that phone!

Brand new Z5 not detecting any SD cards

Anyone know of any fixes for this?
Inserted the SD card (tried 2, one san disk & one samsung) but it isn't detecting them at all, I put the card back into my Z3 and it works perfectly, i've even tried sticking some paper under the card in the tray to prop it up a bit because the sim card looked a little higher in the tray but nothing
Card facing the right way vertically and horizontally?
Yeah theres only 1 way it'll go into the tray, Got a new one coming tomorrow anyways, hopefully that will work properly lol

Replace sim card slot reader

Hi, I just purchased a Galaxy S7 SM-G930FD and wanted to do the 2 sim and 1 SD card mod so that I could have both my lines plus SD card however the mod got stuck in my tray, I damaged the micro SD card and Sim card and I had to push the eject tool so hard that it damaged the ejection mechanism! Now the tray won´t go all the way in! What´s the replacement part that I need to order and where can I buy it?
Thanks!

Hi
Check in Ebay they have them OEM or generic
Thanks, What should I look for?
Hi! Thanks! The thing is I don´t what to look for. I´ve searched for the motherboard but that doesn´t have the card slot, neither does the front or back chasis. I would prefer to buy a piece that includes the card slot so I won´t have to solder anything.

Hi Max 404, Thanks! but the tray is in perfect condition, what I ruined and need to replace is the slot where the tray goes, would you happen to know which part of the phone comes with the card reader slot? I´ve found the reader itself but I have very little experience soldering.
Thanks a bunch

Mate
That is going to be very expensive , is the mainboard and lots of disassembly...not easy at all
Check here (step 11)
Here part number , plus no IMEI you have to get someone to transfer your original Imei to the new mainboard.......
Did you ever successfully fix it?
Same problem on S8+
after bending 2 eject tools to get the tray out (had installed 2 SIM + Micro SD mod) I managed to get the tray to stick out from the phone for like 2 microns!. the tray wouldnt move out any further so what I ended up doing was to pull the tray out with the help of dental floss! as genius as I thought I was, soon after I found out that the tray no longer sits flush inside the phone. even without any SIM or SD card. the tray it self looks alright. I think I have damaged the eject mechanism as well. Has any one solved this issue? am I looking at a costly repair? could it be the tray being deformed?
I cant post pictures sadly yet here. would appreciate if any one can help.

How to safely use dual Sim with micro SD card in a hybrid slot [Hands-on Guide]

This is one of the most useful hacks if your phone is has a hybrid sim slot and you want to use SD card along with two sim cards.
I've done it several times so it's not a problem to me but what most people who did tutorial or videos about this failed to do is to highlight safety measures to make sure you don't either damage your sim/SD card or even get both of them stocked in your phone. You will need a nail file, a lighter and Evo stick glue (gum).
SAFETY MEASURES
#1 FILE DOWN MICRO SD CARD BUMP.
The Mico SD card bump at the bigger end of your micro SD card does not have any function in your phone sim slot. Use a nail file and flatten your micro SD card that way, you have eliminated the possibility of your SD card getting stock inside the phone even with added layer of sim card chip.
NB: DO NOT file or touch the other (chip) side of the micro SD else you will damage the SD card storage.
#2 DO NOT FORCE THE SIM CHIP
Don't force the Sim chip to come out instead use light heat with lighter on the plastic side of the sim card and it will come out.
#3 DO NOT USE SUPER GLUE OR HARDENING GLUE
Hard gums makes the placement of the sim Chip, it may damage the both Sim and SDcard whenever you want to separate them later.
#4 TAKE NOTE OF THE CURVE SIDE OF THE SIM CARD
Put in the sim and take measurements of where and how it should be placed so your sim card can work.
Here is a video guide.
Remember, I'm not responsible for anything that can start a thermonuclear war!
nice guide. thanks. will this work on a s10 g973f? thanks ?
