Hi all - I'm new here and would really need your help
So for some strange miracle I got as a present the Clamshell SM-W2017 - funny right?
Anyway, being a Chinese Market phone, it has a load of restrictions that I would like to override. Not only the 4G/LTE capability is restricted to the Chinese network (I do have a Chinese Sim), but I would really like to start my voyage on the ROM process and get it to work Western style - with both Sim cards from Europe.
Can anyone help me on how to proceed?

My issue is:
I purchased a brand new Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 on 14-Apr-2011.
I am facing the issue related to the connection to my phone network. After I switch on the phone, I get my mobile network signal for about 30 minutes and after that the "No Service" icon is enabled and there is no signal at all in my phone.
I checked the SIM card on a difference phone and there is abosolutely no issue in getting the network signal.
I tried a different service provider SIM on Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and I find there is no issue either.
The problem seems to occur only with my SIM card on this phone. I changed to a new SIM and apparently that also did not solve the issue.
I am also unable to find the "Network Mode" option under the network settings, which I would normally find in other phones.
I tried with the option "Use only 2G network" but that also did not help. I am not using any 3G service at the moment.
I am now stuck in this situation and not able to use my new phone.
I am from Chennai, India and use Vodafine India post paid service.
Hence seeking your kind advice to help me resolve this issue at the earlier.

Hi guys,
I am facing the very same issue.
I contacted my dealer and got the phone replaced.
They supposedly diagnozed some problem and issues a doa on the device
Now, even in my new phone i am facing the same issue
I am using vodafone postpaid and it works fine on any other phone
Also, ive tried my dad's airtel prepaid sim on this phone and it worked perfectly fine for over 2 days
I have tried searching for this issue on any thread for sometime and finally found this

I too have the same problem.
The Network often gets disabled.
i have to either switch off and on it (or go into flight mode and come back) for it to get enabled.
My Sim Card is fine since when i use it in a nokia phone i never get this problem.
Whats worrying me is that this looks more like a hardware problem ... i recently updated my firmware through kies from froyo (2.2) to gingerbread (2.3.4) ... still the problem is persisting.
Many guys are suggesting to contact my dealer .. but i purchased this phone through letsbuy.com. So that option might be a hassle.
So guys any info on this issue ...?

Hi Folks, same problem here in Brazil with S5830B, no service all the time! any ideas????????????????????
U can try to change the modem of the firmware with Odin Multidownloader... try to put an unbranded rom... that works for me in my ACE.
I hope your trouble is silved with this option.... check in the forum of the developement of galaxy Ace a forum for flashing the galaxy ace...
The problem is you guys didn't post in the device-specific forum .
Try flashing a different modem through ODIN

My issue is resolved once I updraded firmware of my phone thru Kies tp 2.3 from 2.2
also you can try following:
dial *#2263#
select GSM mode and then select 900/1800 (or may be if that does not work..select other bands. my was fixed when I selected 900/1800 after I got few emergency call only issue)

Is there a way to unlock this device. There is absolutely no information about this model. I help will be appreciated!
I have the same problem, and so far I did not find the way to unlock it. Some say you need to take out sim card i switch on the phone, in dialer type *983*8284# and then will apear a field to type in the unlock code which you can get with online calculator for regular racer (X850) but this did not worked for me.

Unfortunately, it won´t work. I tried, but it fails. Phone is rooted.

that sequence works on other phones but not on Racer II,
Racer II phone has broadcom CPU inside, and is different than Qualcomm ones

This phone can be unlocked with connection on Rusian servers, at home i'm not sure there is a solution, and i'm looking solution too for this excellent phone..

I am trying to unlock my LG g slate V909, already got the network unlock code. I tried my best to find unlocking instructions. Everywhere it says same thing even LG website too. Insert non accepted sim card and it will ask you for Unlocking code. But for some reason its not asking for any code. I remember for galaxy tab i punched some numbers from calculator to get a phone pad but i don't know if there is any option available for this slate. Could anybody please help me in this.

I just bought a Xperia ST26a, and its unlocked and everything but it doesnt recognize any SIM card, is it a rom problem? an IMEI problem? what should I do?

it's in warranty, right!!.. claim it. in case it's not in warranty, didn't you tested the sim while purchasing the phone?
what and how exactly it happened, what did you do?
