is there a backup tool similar to titanium backup to make backups of apps, but without the need for root? I need to make a backup before unlocking the bootloader from my Merlin.
thanks, guys

I would second Helium as a first choice... especially the Premium (paid) version, so you can backup to the cloud (my personal preference).
There is also Holo Backup for Windows and Linux, My Backup (Pro), CM Backup (stands for Cheetah Mobile, not CyanogenMod), Ultimate Backup, and others. Also, Titanium Backup can backup and restore apps without root.
Be aware that backing up apps is hit and miss, and some apps do not necessarily backup an app's data and settings without root... And restoring apps and data can be problematic in some cases
All in all, it is your choice, but I would recommend Helium Backup as well.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I searched and could'nt find anything. Couple questions;
1. After I do a backup with Titanium Backup, and I plan to use another ROM, do I delete what Titanium Backup has already created? I ask because I didn't know if it overwrites files or just adds to them. I don't want my memory filled with Backup files if I decide to change my ROM ever so often.
2. Does Titanium Backup, backup SMS and call logs? I downloaded My Backup from the Market cause I wasn't sure. So whenever I switch ROM's, I just run Titanium and My Backup. Is it necessary to have both?
Thanks for any responses...
EDIT....I sort of found the answer to question 2....about it backing up SMS/MMS...but what about the call log?

1. Backup User apps only. Keep them, when you update your ROM.. batch restore it. Just make sure you didnt backup system because it could cause FCs.
2. No it doesn't, there are alternatives on the market that does backup your SMS. I don't know any since i use Google Voice and all my SMS are sync'd on cloud.
And no it isn't.. if you're using Titanium Backup, I suggest you have the Pro version otherwise it'll be a huge hassle.

Ok, so you're saying that if I already have a Titanium Backup of user apps....when I back up again, it'll just overwrite the current ones?

Yes. And if you want to load the backups, you restore the apps.
I want to know if titanium backup is of any useful use for our fit and is it safe.
and is it possible to backup ur rom wid it.
thnx
you can't backup a rom using titanium backup. use cwm for that.
"Titanium Backup" is the most important app for a rooted user, who is a ROM maniac (like me)...It is used to backup apps+data and many many extra features!...But "NOT USED TO BACKUP A ROM"....if u want to backup a ROM then boot into CWM Recovery and go in "backup and restore" and then backup!...ur Done!
galaxy fit + CM7.2 Rc5.6(2.3.7) + 801Mhz
thnx guys
but ive hard not to restore system settings as it causes many problems
is it true?
yes its safe to restore apps and data of apps which are downloaded from market (or are sideloaded)...
however, restoring data of system apps may give you fc's...
like for eg, I tried to restore my wifi settings from creeds to cm7 rc5.3...but whenever I tried to connect to a saved wifi spot, I used to get force closes...had to wipe data again...
also, the best feature of titanium is batch backup and restore, and schedules...
batch is in menu>batch...you can use it for one click backup and restore...
i prefer mybackup pro as it has a better and understandable UI and works well
can mybackup do backup of app data as well??
yeah it can backup app data and apk for system and non system apps
it can also freeze or unfreeze, break or link to market for the apps

Yup it should work...
Restore the data only, no need of restoring apps also (since it is the same rom)...
Typed using a small touchscreen
While batch backup in titanium backup app,it backups all the app+data very nicely. We just have to start the batch backup and keep our phone aside till the backup completes. But while restoring apps via batch restore,it constantly asks for permission whether to install or cancel for every app. So does mybackup pro batch-restores apps without asking such permission?
Even titanium PRO doesn't ask...
Free version doesn't allow one-click batch restore...
Typed using a small touchscreen
my backup pro dosent ask
ive tried only restoring the app data till now and not the app on my backup pro
So, I'm going to install a new rom. I'm going back from JB to ICS. I was planning to wipe everything using TWRP. Meaning I'll wipe: system, cache, dalvik, factory reset, and android secure. Now I'm looking for a good backup app that can help me restore all of my apps and their saves after I install the new rom. I want to restore all of my games together with all of my save files. I've heard of Titanium and Go although I hear that titanium is only good if it is the paid version. Hopefully, you guys can provide me with a great backup app that is free. Thanks.
For root users: Titanum Backup.
For non root users: Carbon.

My phone is rooted. Is titanium backup still good even though it is just the free version and not the paid version?

Backup and restore is in paid version only
But u can find the cracked version from google
Restoring system files after installing rom is not advisable
I recommend only to restore some files like games data files from titanium backup but not others

The Free version can do backup and restore just fine. You need Premium version to do batch restores.

Yes, its good enough, unless you want more goodies like batch restoring of backed up apps, unlimited schedules, cloud syncing, restoring from nandroid backups etc. For that, you need to go PRO. Trust me, its worth the money.
P.S. Even if you're rooted, you can use Helium (previously Carbon) also. :good:
Do you guys know of any free backup app that can do batch restore?
Titanuim back up is the best app to do that. The free version makes it longer to restore because it asks permission for every singal app it restores. so if you have a 100 apps, then you'd have to press "yes" 100 times and i found that so annoying. lol. It is worth every penny you pay for sure. And just like the other guys said, I don't recommend restoring the systems files at all, you will get a lot of FC's and error messages and it gets soooo annoying. Restore only the "missing apps". If you like the how you organized your touchwiz, back it up then restore it on the ROM.I have been using titanuim for too long and I know quite a bit about it. Just ask if you have anything question
For me Titanum Backup is also the best backup app for android
Titanium is so worth the money if you want to backup and restore frequently.

Tried doing a search on this, but get a LOT of unrelated results.
Can someone recommend backup software for my Note 10.1 so I can back it up onto my PC? Thanks!
And no, I'm not interested in backing it up onto the "cloud" (otherwise known by non-marketing dweebs as the Internet).

The best one for me is Titanium Backup.
Titanium backup is probably the best backup tool. The free version is not very limited compared to other backup tools and it's always been reliable for me.
I would recommend using a recovery to backup your entire device in case if it gets soft bricked.
I use titanium backup too. I use also online nandroid backup to make a backup of the device

Titanium requires the device to be rooted. What's the best method of backing up my Note 10.1 TO MY PC without having it rooted? I need to back it up before rooting it.
So you can try helium.
Helium doesn't require root permission. I'm sorry but I can't post the link of the app
helium

I think it's better if you remove that link to warez site. Or you didn't read xda's rules?
Just a reminder to everyone. Posting links to, or asking for paid apps is against xda rules.
I'm pretty decent with root ROMs etc, but I've always been **** at backing up properly. Any recommendations on apps (old or new) and instructions on how to backup and restore my phone so I don't have to relogin to apps, or reset up apps that don't keep my settings within apps that don't keep them even if they have a log in.
Any help would be appreciated. And no, google backup won't work. Doesn't do what I want

Hi, have you tried Swift Backup?
I always use it when I switch the ROM.
Not only apps and its setting, it can restore SMS, call logs and wallpapers though it can't restore entire system.

Haven't tried it, but will on next Evolution ROM update. Do you just not do a restore when clean installing the rim? Then root and install swift, and restore? That simple?

Yep. Just backup apps before doing clean install procedure.
And install Magisk on the new ROM, then install Swift backup and restore apps so that I can use apps just like before without any 're-configuration'.
