I'm aware that the Chinese s7 and US s7 have the same hardware. So we should just be able to flash their firmware through odin and use CROM?
No, of course they wouldn't make it that easy for us. Odin wont let us downgrade bootloaders. This is a time where Odin let's us down. (We use v4, China uses v2)
So how could we get China's firmware on our US variant?
Flashfire!?!
Since we have root, we can flash ourselves without odin. So if we flash China's firmware in flashfire, will it work?
(Obviously we will need to be rooted to do this)
Well, if were to do this, we would have to mount this system of course. And also, I'd avoid flashing CSC at first (just because I think it might cause problems, not sure) because in Odin if you flash CSC, it reboots to recovery to install and then wipe... will flashfire do the same?
If anyone wants to try and let us know, that would be awesome. (I would but I don't have Wi-Fi and can't download big files... firmware. )
In flashfire, you'll have to enable flashing bootloaders in settings.

Any questions, ideas, or helpful info please post or pm me/message me on hangouts - Mod Edit : Links removed
Im not responsible for anything that happens to your device - beware of bricks
If by any chance we get this because of the steps I post and anybody makes a thread on how to unlock the bootloader, all I ask is a mention

Fingers crossed some one tries this and responds in a timely manner. ??

Attempt 1 -
Step 1 - Enabled flashing bootloaders in flashfire settings.
Step 2 - select BL and select primary bootloader
Step 3 - Then add AP. The boxes should already be checked.
Step 4 - Then CP. Again box should already be checked.
Step 5 - Then add a wipe at the end. Select all boxes to wipe at the end (except external sd card if you have it, where I would recommend puting China firmware)
Step 6 - Also take uncheck "Inject su"
Result of this: brick :/
Probable cause: we only flashed primary bootloader. We need to flash all 3 in order for it to boot!
ATTEMPT 2 -
Anyone who would, give this a try:
Assuming you're already rooted with flashfire installed...
Step 1 - in flashfire, go to settings and enable "Flash Bootloaders"
Step 2 - select The "+" button and select "flash firmware package" and
Select the Chinese BL file.
Step 3 - selext the top 3 options...
1. Primary Bootloader
2. Secondary Bootloaders AP
3. Extended Bootloader.
Then click the check mark in top right.
DO NOT CLICK FLASH YET!!
Step 4 - press the "+" button and select "Flash firmware package" again. Then select Chinese AP firmware file. All the boxes should be checked. Click the check mark in top right.
DO NOT CLICK FLASH YET!!
Step 5 - Press the "+" button and select "Flash Firmware package" once again. Select China's CP file. All boxes should be checked (should only be 1 box) then click check mark in top right.
DO NOT FLASH YET!!
Step 6 - press the "+" button and select "add wipe". Select all the boxes (except for external sd card if there is an option, which is where id recommend putting the China firmware if you have a card). Then click the check mark in top right.
DO NOT FLASH YET!!
Step 7 - disable the "inject su img" if you see it.
And finally... FLASH!!! )
Please let me know what your results are
Second test above = brick
Probably cause - probably should have thought of this first, but select ALL the boxes after selecting BL
ATTEMPT 3 - June 26th, 2017
*make sure "flash bootloaders" is enabled in flashfire settings
Step 1 - Press the "+" button select firmware. Select China's BL and press the check mark in top right. (ALL BOXES should be checked this time, including the top 3 ,primary, secondary, and extended)
Step 2 - press "+" and select firmware and select China's AP. Check all boxes and press the check mark in top right .
Step 3 - Add wipe and select all options (except SD card)
Step 4 - disable the "inject SU"
Let us know how it goes please.

Haha, the bootloader probably just won't flash. You can't downgrade but the fascinating part is that flashfire gives access with write protect off. There's a reason the Chinese BL is v2 People must have the goods but once they release Samsung will patch that hole going forward. This is already hopeless without the engboot. I can't really afford to buy a nexus device outright so I've only counted on root.

I've had one person test, and it does flash. But he only flashed primary bootloader, instead of all 3 (primary, secondary, extended) So it didn't boot.
And it's Odin that doesn't let you downgrade. There is nothing the phone can do to stop you because if you flash, it rewrites the bootloader so it doesn't know you were on v4.

hard brick. I followed your instructions to the letter. Flashfire finished and went to reboot and now my phone is dead. I am going to take it apart and disconnect the battery to try and reset it. I will post again if I get it working. The buttons do nothing. can't boot at all.
EDIT: disconnecting and reconnecting the battery didn't help. Still can't turn the phone on. plugging in a charger doesn't do anything either.

[FIRMWARE] Flash KitKat the EASY Way!!!! or Go back to JellyBean

KitKat the EASY Way!!!!
Or, go back to 4.2.2 JellyBean
If you are going to return your phone back to warranty, I would suggest this method in this thread as it does a COMPLETE wipe of your device and puts it back to 'Factory'. It removes Root Flags so it does not show having been rooted, and removes ALL data.
Disclaimer: This is not MY method, but a method I used. The information and files have been figured out over time by many individuals and it's been combined in this thread.
This thread is to help Noobs AND Veterans to flash their ATT D800 LG G2 to KitKat. This will be very spelled out, and I’ve even included a video (see below), so NO Mistakes. Yes, that means you!
PLEASE refer to the Video Below before asking questions, as too many questions get a little overwhelming.
Warning! Please Read!
This WILL erase everything on your phone and put it back to FACTORY STATE, so be sure you’ve backed up!
Ok, first thing you need to do is download the version you want. I’ve got KitKat 4.4.2 version D80020c, and I’ve got JellyBean 4.2.2 version D80010o. These are VERY LARGE files, so be patient, although I am able to get as much as 6MB/s download speeds from this server.
BIG THANKS TO bigfau for the KitKat TOT and DLL files!!!
Download Installer - KitKat 4.4.2 D80020c - This Flashes Stock KitKat, WITHOUT Root, and WITHOUT Recovery. - Use TowelRoot and AutoRec to get Root and Custom Recovery. - Single File LARGE archive. KK MIRROR DOWNLOAD
D80020c Split Archive Download - This is the same archive as above, but split into smaller pieces for easy download.
Download Installer - JellyBean 4.2.2 D80010o - Single File LARGE archive. JB MIRROR DOWNLOAD
D80010o Split Archive Download - This is the same archive as above, but split into smaller pieces for easy download..
Download Installer - JellyBean 4.2.2 D80010d - This is for those who want to install Custom Recovery and not update to KK... - Single File LARGE archive.
Now, for the fun stuff (You may want to print this out for reference and check them off as you go)
Pre-requisites:
1. Be sure your phone is currently running a Compatible based ROM. If not, please flash a Custom Compatible Based ROM onto your phone. (ie: If you have a D800, be sure you have a D800 ROM on it. If you have a D802, be sure you have a D802 based ROM on it.)
2. Be sure you have turned on USB Debugging before starting.
Step #1: Program Installation:
1. Save the installer to your desktop
2. Run the Installer by double clicking
3. Wait a while for everything to extract (It might look like nothing is happening. This can take a few minutes, be patient, it’s HUGE)
4. (On Win7 or Win8, Accept User Account Control)
5. Accept my License
6. Don't Change Anything and click ‘Install’
7. Wait some more… and more… Large files are extracting…
8. When it pops up, click ‘Next’ to install the LG drivers. Even if you’ve already installed them, install again! This is to verify you’ve got the right ones installed.
9. Click ‘OK’ to finish the Driver install
10. Click ‘Next to install the LG Flash Tool
11. Don't Change Anything and click ‘Install’
12. Uncheck ‘Run LGFlashTool 1.8.1.1023 and click ‘Finish’ (If you forget to uncheck this, just close the program when it opens)
13. Click ‘Next’ to start the LGFlashTool Patch. (This makes it so you don’t need to change the date back on your PC)
14. Click ‘Next’ again
15. Click the bullet to ‘Agree to my License’ and then click ‘Next’
16. Don't Change Anything and click ‘Next’
17. Click ‘Start’
18. Click ‘Next’
19. Click ‘Exit’ to finish Patch Installer
20. Congratulations, Program Installations are all DONE!
Step #2: Place Phone into Download Mode:
1. With phone NOT plugged into a USB Cable, Hold the Power button to turn off phone
2. Plug your USB cable into your computer
3. Hold the Volume UP Button on your Phone
4. While Still Holding the Volume UP button, plug in the USB cable to your Phone
5. Continue to hold the Volume UP button until your phone enters Download Mode
6. If this does not work, pull the USB cable and start from #1 of this section
Step #3: Change Com Port to 41
1. With your phone STILL in Download Mode and STILL Plugged into Computer
2. Go into Device Manager
---a. Press and hold your Windows Key (Between CTRL and ALT)
---b. Tap the ‘Pause/Break’ Key (Usually Top Right of Keyboard, might be different on yours)
---c. Click on ‘Device Manager’
3. In the Device List, scroll down to ‘Ports (COM & LPT) and double click to expand
4. Find the ‘LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM4)’ (Your COM Port Number might be different, that’s OK)
5. Double click to open the port
6. On the Tabs at the top of that screen, click on ‘Port Settings’
7. Click on ‘Advanced…’
8. Click on the Com Port number to drop down the list
9. Scroll down to ‘COM41’ and select it
10. Click ‘OK’ Button to save that
11. Click ‘OK’ Button to close the Com Port Properties
12. Close the Device Manager
13. Close the System Window
14. Go back to the Desktop
15. That’s it, You’ve Changed the Com Port to 41
Step #4: Run LGFlashTool:
1. Double Click the ‘LGFlashTool’ icon on the Desktop (Win7 or Win8 accept ‘User Account Control’)
2. In the ‘Model Config’ window, check the box ‘Select Manual Mode’
3. Next to the DLL space, click the Three Dots ‘…’
4. Select the DLL file named ‘LGD800_.....v160.dll’
---a. For 4.4.2 KitKat, select ‘LGD800_20130811_LGFLASHv160.dll’
---b. For 4.2.2 JellyBean, select ‘LGD800_20130904_LGFLASHv160.dll’
5. Click the ‘Open’ Button
6. Next to the S/W space, click the ‘Remove ALL’ Button
7. Next to the S/W space, click the ‘Add’ Button
8. Select the tot file for the version you are flashing
---a. For 4.4.2 KitKat, select ‘LGD800AT-01-V20c-310-410-FEB-02-2014+0.tot’
---b. For 4.2.2 JellyBean, select ‘LGD800AT-01-V10o-310-410-OCT-19-2013+0.tot’
9. Click the ‘Open’ Button
10. Click ‘OK’ Button to save choices
11. In the LG FlashTool program, click the ‘Yellow Arrow’ pointing to the Right.
12. Wait for the program to verify your DLL and TOT selections (This takes a while)
13. If successful, you will see ‘READY!!’ on ‘Port 1 (COM41)’
14. If you DON’T see ‘READY!!’, you may need to start over
15. If you see ‘READY!!’ unplug your phone from the USB cable and Plug it right back in. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS ON YOUR PHONE. It should STILL be in Download Mode.
16. The LG FlashTool progam will now start flashing your phone!!
17. At around 80%, the program will restart your phone.
18. It takes a while for the phone to restart, but it will boot to Android. Wait for the flash program to finish and it will turn your phone back OFF. And give you a ‘SUCCESS”
19. Close FlashTool
IF for some reason, the LG FlashTool does not finish 100%, and you get a ‘Fail’, as long as your phone has now rebooted into Android, you don’t need to worry about this. Just close the program, and enjoy your Freshly Restored LG G2!
For anyone having issue with the device check not passing due to mismatched device (caused by flashing a Custom ROM with Different device model ID to your D800: ie, D801 to a D800 or vice versa.), try using the attached dll file instead of the device specific one. It has been reported to work for many... You will need to extract the zip file to get the dll.
good stuff bud!
Thanks SuperSport. I have added a link to your thread in my guide.
Can we get an installer for 80100d . It will be easier for newbies
Just so you know, in step #4 you have 4.4.2 twice But great job man! You might want to use the 10d 4.2 as that is the one that recoveries work best with. Just a thought.

Thank you for that. FIXED.
EDIT: Why is 10d easier? Is it due to the script in ioroot22? I keep flashing 10o, then use ioroot22, then use FreeGee to install TWRP. Easy Peasy. BUT, I might have modified ioroot22 script for that, I don't remember ATM.

I haven't had my G2 very long so I haven't been able to test myself, but just looking around the forum seems the 10o firmware causes boot issues with some custom ROMs. I could be wrong though. Maybe the problem doesn't exist anymore and I'm reading old info.

Ioroot and then freegee TWRP route works on 80100o. Unfortunately, flashing ROMs (stock based and flex based especially) causes issues. I do not think anyone figured out the reason but going to 80100d solves the issue.

So I understand... If you flash Stock 10o, then Root and Flash Custom Recovery, you have issues flashing other ROMs? But if you Flash back to Stock 10d, you do not have issues flashing Custom ROMs?
Also, FYI: ioroot23 was just released... I don't know if that will make a difference. It has 10o support built in.

Yes that is correct.
I am not sure if rooting was an issue. It was the recovery that seemed to be the issue. Not sure though and I guess since 10d worked not many people bothered to investigate further.

i can confirm this is true. i lg flash tool'ed back to 10o, while i could get root i couldnt get twrp or philz recovery to work. when i went back to 10d with lg flash tool, i could get root and recovery to work. i even loki'd a couple recoveries and the recoveries wouldnt only give me a black screen when i tried to enter them on 10o. and i used ioroot23 to do all of this with.
Is this tool safe to use if the phone shows rooted after you go into download mode? Although I swore I unrooted the phone.
Took a chance and did this anyway and all is good. Upgraded successfully! Thank you so much for providing this tool! It was such a pain searching for a serial for lgflashtool. Will be donating asap for the help. Thank you thank you thank you. Directions were perfect as well and very easy to follow.

I'm sorry, I have been away from home. Just read this. Yes, you are fine if your phone is rooted. This Flash will remove Root. As mentioned in the First post, there is currently no way to root KitKat, (Unless I've missed something since last night). So root, then go to KitKat.

That is Correct, no Custom Recovery. Not unless something has appeared since last night when I last went through the forums.
Usefull guide thanks
but i think there is not a difference between those Flash DLL i had 20130904 and just freshy flashed KitKat
also if anyone cares about a LG Flash tools "PASS" then while it stops on 80-94% and boot into OS itself, do a Factory Reset of phone and it will check a Factory Flag (it sets to 5) and gives message a PASS

[How-To] Update to G900V_OC4 - 5.0 and KeepRoot (3/30/2015)

**You can begin the following process from any Build/ROM but you must already have Root Access**
**Required** FlashFire - Play BETA - PREVIEW
1. Join the G+ community using the same Google account as you're using for Play on your phone/tablet Here.
2. Sign up to receive the BETA versions from Play Here.
- Use the link provided after sign-up to download the app.
**Caution!** The following process is only for the G900V Verizon S5 variant. Use on any other device may result in a hardbrick!
Download:
- G900V_OC4_Stock_Rooted_ROM
- G900V_OC4_Stock_DeOdexed_ROM
Set your screen timeout setting to 10 mins before beginning!
1. Place the ROM onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard).
2. Open the FlashFire app and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.
4. Select "Flash Zip or OTA" and locate and select the ROM. Leave "Auto-mount" unchecked under the "Options" menu and press the checkmark to continue.
5. From the main menu Uncheck all options under "EverRoot" and use default "Reboot" setting.
6. Last, press the lightning bolt then "Ok" to begin the flash .
The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system before beginning the flash. FlashFire will pause for about 1 minute while flashing the "system" partition. Once complete your device will reboot and pause on the Verizon splash screen for 1 - 2 minutes (10 - 15 mins for DeOdexed version) before completely rebooting. Done!
Tip: for blazing fast speed turn off animations from Developer Options and reboot!
Known Issues:
- None!
Optional - Enable Native Tethering:
- G900V_OC4_TetherAddOn (Flash using FlashFire's "Flash zip or ota" option).
Notes:
1. The above process will not affect your Knox Warranty Flag.
2. The process will update your Modem, Non-hlos, System, Kernel, Stock Recovery, and Bootloader to OC4.
3. No need to wipe prior to flashing, the ROM will automatically perform a factory data reset. If you prefer not to wipe User Data replace the Updater-Script in the ROM's META-INF/com/google/android folder with the version attached to this post (remove ".txt" extension before placing in folder). Bear in mind that carrying over incompatible User Data from a prior Android version may cause issues.
4. If you do not already have root access (or to unbrick) you must flash the G900VVRU1ANCG_Full_Odin.tar (flash in Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+)), root with Towelroot (this version does not require internet access), then proceed with the above process.
5. To learn more about FlashFire's capabilities on locked bootloader devices see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60070810&postcount=2

Let's just say the initial 5.0 release had a few bugs. Let's hope this release works better.
Thanks. I did your previous update with this method, and it worked great. Can you give the steps that are needed to get to where you need to be to now install this update? I think I know, but I'm not sure. Also, what about apps and settings? It does not seem they are preserved. It looks like the previous write up has been edited and no longer includes these steps. I had no problems with this part. Is it still an option to do that? Thanks for the awesome work!
update
So this will work fine updating if on rooted 0A8?
I would assume we could do a data backup, then restore data after flashing is done
So there's no need to flash a firmware or kernel in Odin after flashing the rom? Are we still going to be on 0A8 baseband? Or should we flash the OC4 kernel?

Correct, all necessary OC4 partitions including the kernel, modem, etc are included in the ROM.

Only recommended if your Data backup is from 5.0. Those updating from 4.4 should not restore Data for compatibility reasons.

No worries, good luck with SS.
Also fyi.....there is a guy in the N900V forum that has developed a safestrap replacement called multisystem. He is waiting for 5.0 before releasing and claims it will work on 5.0. If so, it can likely be easily ported to the S5.
Got it. I did see that. I guess it is just that simple. I thought there might be a little more detail needed, but I will give it a shot. Hopefully safestrap comes to lollipop one day to make it a little easier!

After flashing the ROM you can just reboot, no need to re-flash the OC4 kernel since the new ROM already flashed it.
Does anyone know if the Alarm clock works on silent now? I think they got rid of the interruption settings did they not?
I have run into a problem i can't figure out. When i try to run safestrap it just wont boot into it when i boot from the app. Have tried it many times. Thinking back wasn't safestrap broken when you are on 5.0? I went from kit kat, rooted and did the keep root tutorial to have it in 5.0. Not really sure what to do.

Safe-strap doesn't work on 5.0. You have to flash G900V_NK2_Stock_Kernel to access it.

Ty. I'm not new to flashing but i was just wondering what the hell i was doing that it wouldn't boot. Appreciate it.

Tried to root, failed, total noon here.

Hey guys, today I tried to root my t-mobile s7 from a random YouTube video I found. After flashing a file from Odin, my phone got stuck in a boot loop.
I did a factory reset from recovery and the phone started up fine.
Now here's my problem, after doing a reset, the first thing I noticed was that while I was booting up the phone. It showed the usual Samsung Galaxy S7, followed by an unlocked padlock with the words "Custom" under it.
2nd issue. My phone just looks a lot different than when I originally bought it. It is also very sluggish, experiencing a lot of lag.
I've looked up how to go back to stock firmware but I'm not sure which one to use.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm currently on the PG1 firmware.
It appears you still have the eng kernal... You can just re-run the root.bat and install SuperSu, or if you want complete stock follow the steps below:
*Also Before you try this turn it off and let it charge for 45 min-1 hour or so...*
1. Volume Down + Power + Home to put it in download mode
2. Then press Volume Up to continue past the warning screen even if nothing is displayed.
3. Grab The Latest Version of Odin here
4. Then Download The Stock Firmware, in this case you will need whichever version you have (if you do not remember you can just download the latest available firmware) Download Firmware and then extract it. (If you have 5 different files in the zip go to step 8)
5. Then install Samsung device drivers(if not already).
6. Start Odin, Plug in the S7, Load in the tar.md5 in the AP/PDA and uncheck Auto Reboot and Repartition.
7. Let the phone restart... VIOLA!!!
8. Alternatively if the zip has 5 files... They should all start with the corresponding buttons in Odin For Example:
AP_G930TUVS3APD8_CL7856276_QB9546176_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
BL_G930TUVS3APD8_CL7856276_QB9546176_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

HOME_CSC_TMB_G930TTMB3APD8_CL7856276_QB9546176_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
After they are entered into Odin you hit start and after a few minutes ... It should be fixed....
Let me know if you have any further questions or issues...
The custom is normal since you flashed a modified kernel.
Follow this instructions here for rooting / unrooting.
Most of these applies to Tmobile S7, expect specific ones mentioned for Verizon.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
Thanks man, I'm gonna try to finish rooting. I thought my phone was just screwing up and the first part of the rooting process failed, since the bootloader.
I also tried sammobile and the download won't start.
If I were to download an earlier firmware, would I be able to update it to the most recent one?
Is it possible to revert to stock without wiping data?
Can I flash a custom kernel with flashfire?

No you cannot. Or rather, science threw bootloader is still locked, your phone will not boot if you try.

[GUIDE]--Unlocked OREO(CSB2) on Cricket/ATT wireless

SO i just wanna start by saying i did not make these files. I simply arranged them together to help out those on cricket wireless like i am and needed Volte working. So here we go.
I also know there are other tutorials with similar things but this is a simple more straight forward process who dont wanna go through all that and wanna just flash in odin.
Required for this
Galaxy S8
ALL FILES NEEDED WILL BE INSIDE 1 FOLDER JUST EXTRACT AND YOUR GOOD TO GO( THE FILE IS 3.87GB)
Unlocked firmware CSB2(in one of the links below)
Odin patched 3.13-Thanks to REALBBB and BLUEFOX721(in one of the links below)
At&T User Data file(in THE FILE)
DOWNLOAD
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1VEaOuO-boVbgVFeR_VMtxpfY20nFhL2N <<<UNLOCKED FIRMWARE AND USERDATA FILE
https://drive.google.com/file/d/15ZQN1Epy8d81N_GNUP2M3gXQPL02kIGL/view?usp=sharing <<<PATCHED ODIN
:::WARNING:::, THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA ON THE PHONE, PLEASE BACKUP ANY DATA BEFORE THIS PROCESS. I HAVE NOT PROVIDED ANY ADB FILES OR ANY OTHER THING AS I AM SIMPLY DOING A FLASH. IF YOU NEED THOSE FILES PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE.
IF YOU DONT WANNA WIPE USE THE HOME CSC AND IT WILL KEEP ALL YOUR INFO ON THE PHONE BUT DOING A DIRTY UPDATE CAN CAUSE ISSUES SOMETIMES.
1. UNZIP THE FILE and you will see 3 folders in it, the UserData file/Patched Odin/Full Oreo Firmware.
2. launch The patched Odin
3. Put you galaxy s8 into download mode by turning the phone off. Then Hold the bixby button and the Volume down button and push the power button.
It will show the download mode and you will then push the Volume Up and you will enter download mode. Plug in your phone thats in download mode now to your computer.
4. Go to ODIN and then select BL, AP, CSC>>>(select the non home CSC), CP and direct each one of those to the corresponding files. SO BL GETS BL FILE, CP GETS THE CP AND SO ON. Make sure to select the NON HOME CSC file. Shut down odin and restart it again as you will need it later. Unplug the phone.
DO NOT SELECT THE USERDATA FILE YET, THAT WILL BE LATER.
5. Once you are ready make sure your phone shows on the ID:COMM up top. If it does go ahead and click START. Depending on your computer this can take anywhere from 4-20 minutes. SIT BACK AND RELAX TILL ITS DONE.
6. Once the phone is done it will restart. (it will say updating system and likely get not that high % and then say erasing-this is normal). Let it load back up to the WELCOME screen. Once it gets to that screen turn the phone completely off again and put it back into download mode(shows how to above in step 3).
7. Launch ODIN again or go back to odin if you already restarted it from the earlier step. Plug the phone back into the computer again once its in download mode.
8. Make sure the phone shows up in odin by looking at the ID:COM, if it does then go down the USERDATA spot and select it and direct it to the userdata file(USERDATA_AIO_G950USQS5CSB1_CL15104926_QB21778972_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5) in the USERDATA folder you extracted. Once your sure the phone is showing in the ID:COM and you selected the userdata file go ahead and click start. This process should only take around 3-6 minutes or so.
9. Once the process is complete it will restart at which this time you can unplug the phone. It will take a bit to load up because it fully erased the phone again. IT will likely say updating system and then get to a certain percentage and stop and say erasing(this is normal).
10. You now have an unlocked firmware cricket phone with the Cricket Splash screen and working Volte. setup the phone and enjoy OREO.
Thanks, but the download doesn't work - invalid decryption key.

I don't have a note 8, so can't do that. It honestly wouldn't be any different from this except you would need the unlocked firmware and att user data for the note 8.
Updated thread with crd4. I have the cre2 firmware and will test it out tonight to see if I can still use the Userdata method. If I can I will update the thread with the cre2 firmware.
CRE2 works correctly with VOLTE and visual voicemail working. I still cant get WI-Fi calling to work as its greyed out on my phone. If someone figures that out let me know and ill update the thread. I'm uploading the CRE2 files right now and they should be available within an hour of making this comment.
thread has been updated with multiple links now and updated firmware.

You might not have an unlockable bootloader, or it might just be a different key combo. If you got one that was already carrier branded by Verizon or At&t then you're probably out of luck. You might want to try reading this too. (The middle response.) This is how the regular A20 users are unlocking theirs.

Thanks! Linked method works for me.
(1 turn off phone
2 Hold down Volume Up and Volume down both at same time.
3 While holding down both those buttons attach USB cable to computer (easier if you already have it plugged in to the phone)
4 wait for Aqua screen to come up that says to long press (hold down several seconds ) the Volume UP key to unlock bootloader.)
Maybe the root with magisk is possible too.
After few hours later I have a rooted a20e phone! (A202FXXU2ASG1)
When bootloader is really open odin can rewrite original boot.img with the magisk patched one.
TWRP is only need for me now.

I love hearing good news! I'm willing to bet that whatever they're doing to get root will also work for you too. You'll have to do a little digging over there. You also have the same chipset as them and they have twrp already! It should be portable to your device without much of an issue. It really sounds like anyone with an A series can rejoice. I'm tempted to get one myself at this point.
Flash failed
Hello,
I have also a Samsung galaxy a20e and I followed the instructions, but the flash at step 7 fails. The firmware that I used is provided by this sammobile. It's works when I use it normaly, but fails when I use the magisk generated file for the AP . The operation stop when Odin reading the recovery image.
I uncheck the Auto Reboot option like specified
Can someone help me please?
Have a look at this:

this is what i am trying now, seems to be working to get TWRP and root in one go
(You May also need this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF2Nxck4FtM
because when i tried this the OEM Unlocking option in Developer Options was missing, follow the instructions in this link, get the OEM Unlock Enabled then follow the first link)
The OEM unlocking option was already active for me. Unfortunately the flash with TWRP that you give still doesn't work. Have you succeed on your side ?

Hi,
No I am still having the same issue as you, OEM Unlocked, but the flash at step 7 fails. The firmware that I used is provided by this sammobile. It's works when I use it normally, but fails when I use the magisk generated file for the AP.
It says "Can only flash official images"
1. extract the boot.img from the firmware of your device
2. unzip with zarchiver
3. download magisk manager and choose install then select the boot.img file
4. flash the patched boot.img in Odin
Done
there is no TWRP yet cause it would need to be build from source.

Hello,
Sorry for chiming in, but maybe there is a misunderstanding? The original boot.img file (extracted from the stock firmware) needs to be first patched by the Magisk app. Only after it has been patched, the boot.img file should be flashed by Odin. Maybe the guide over there helps to make it clearer: https://www.getdroidtips.com/root-galaxy-a20-a20e/
EDIT1: I see posts about "vbmeta warning", so there might be some further hurdles, see e.g. there:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a20/help/root-method-twrp-samsung-a20e-help-t4017763
EDIT2: You might also want to have a look into the A20 (i.e. without the "e") section:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80021195&postcount=4
EDIT3: vbmeta.tar attached there:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80188834&postcount=237
Good luck!
PS:
I understood that no TWRP or other custom recovery was needed for this, but I assume that by unlocking the bootloader via the developer options (before flashing) or/and by flashing the patched boot.img (and vbmeta.tar?) file via Odin, the Knox counter is triggered, voiding warranty and some apps not working anymore (e.g. Samsung billing etc.), and OTA updates by Samsung not working anymore. Is that correct?

However, currently neither TWRP nor custom kernel seem yet to be available/working for the A20e.
