Hi everybody. I'd want to ask you a question (because I'm new here on honor 8): how much time pass from an update to another one? I see we are currently at B389, but I'd want to know if the update are regular and, if yes, how much regular are them. Thanks in advance for your help and have a nice day

Ops, corrected
When the device was first launched, updates were about 1-3 months in between depending on the model and country. Now it's about 3-5.

Yes, I'm a recognized developer thank to the galaxy Nexus and the LG G2. The Honor 8 is pretty different on board and support, so I need to study it more and then I could try to enter on the open Kirin project

So I am looking to get a honor 8, but there is one thing that I am not so sure about, EMUI. So first of all, what are your thoughts on it, is it just a re skin of stock android or are there limitations/advantages. I am coming from IOS, and like the look of it, which i know emui is somewhat similar looking. Can I remove EMUI and go with a more stock version of android? If not what are some things I should do to get around the limitations of it? Also, can update to Nougat? Thanks!
There are more number of inbuilt features in EMUI than stock ROM. Some of the apps are inbuilt with the it. Stock ROM doesn't have every utility app that needs in day to day life like file manager, call recorder. We can download the app in play store in it. EMUI has these apps built with itself. So no need to download external app.
Limitations for EMUI is the RAM management. Im not sure about Honor 8, but RAM management is major issue in EMUI in all other models. It might be fixed soon with the upcoming updates also.
Regarding the update, you will get update till Android O for sure. But the time taken to get the update will be more than that of stock android devices. So don't worry about updates if you have the patience for it.
As of now you can't remove EMUI , as custom ROM is not available.
As of now you can't remove EMUI from Honor 8.

It's really not bad. Add pixel launcher and theme by venom007 and you'll be good to go. I've been happy with it as an Android purist waiting for the pixel phone launch.

From what I am reading on this forum, it does not seem so.
There is a thread mentioning that many developers already tried and left their projects because of the difficulties.
One can always hope but am skeptical myself.

We will still get many modded custom Roms but as for custom Roms like CyanogenMod etc, it appears that it's a monumental task because of honor 8 being a Kirin device.
I don't understand the actual nuances, just stating what I usually read.

I forked the P9 lite repo for CM13.
The P9 development is still stuck on the telephony interface, but at least it's a start.

As for me, I am just the guy who knows how to troubleshoot installation and soft-brick problems (and even that at a rudimentary level)

What model are you getting ? If it's ST-AL10 then there's one chinese web out there has working tool to root it, but it need to be on B123 version as well,

The best way to root is to have TWRP first. Never try rooting methods from 3rd party sites.

Better wait for a TWRP man. I tried rooting methods like this before and it never worked. Plus there is a risk of spyware since we don't know where that program came from.

Thanks but that app is buggy (when you touch the gallery icon you have to touch two times) however that function was an example of all the functions that honor 9 has and that I want to try installing. Could anyone share apks of all these functions from an honor 9?
Including the new equalizer please.... I think this time I wrote more clearly than first post

The Honor 9 is too new. I don't think anyone has managed to root it yet. Even if they do, these features probably won't be compatible with our firmware. That's why the monochrome feature on the P10 still doesn't work for us.

I think it only came with the Chinese firmware. Even that hasn't been ported to all versions and it's basically the same phone.

Camera is great! 3D panorama is really interesting BUT I think Honor 9 don't use fully potential of hardware. I have before Honor 8 and with latest updates was a bit better, especially when taking remotely objects.

question posted in wrong thread. anyway I'll give u answer. official oreo rolling out started from today so soon it will hit india then within a week all the custom roms like elite, elemental and gsi roms will support volte.
Volte is widley using in india but not in developer country so developers decided to spend their most time on solving other bugs than volte.
Finally delete the thread.

Glad you love the phone.. Can I ask, did you ever consider the mi max 3..if so what swayed you towards the note 10?
I am still on the fence as to which phone to get. If they don't release a global rom, allowing the use of Google pay(nfc) here in the UK, then the mi max 3 is looking better as its way cheaperfor the same functions. But the note has better speakers and camera. Uh oh, just swayed the other way, lol.... Thanks.

I've owned a few Huawei phones in the past. At present I'm using the mate 9... I am still going for the note 10...I'm waiting to see if they do release a global rom version. If there is no sign of this by end of Sept. I'll get the Chinese rom version.. Thanks...

Theres not going to be a global Rom. The Huawei Honor Note 10 rocks even without global Rom. Just go for it.
