So, I've been at this for hours, and I've tried several different approaches, but none have worked. I've tried one-click-root programs. I've tried manually with adb tools and the like. I've tried several commands that have worked to unlock the bootloader for other phones. I have allow OEM unlock and enable USB debugging checked.
I've come to believe that it's impossible. The phone's new on the market, so there doesn't seem to be much information about it specifically around and no LG-phone-related information has helped me. Fastboot seems to do nothing. I'm at a brick wall, so here I am, asking for help. If anyone knows some way I might go about rooting this phone, inform me.
My Android version is 6.0.1. If you need any more information, please let me know.

Have you tried them ALL? If not then get busy trying more, you don't need to come here until you have tried absolutely every app and PC program.

LG m150
I just don't understand why it is taking so long, I talked to the manufacturer and they say that the bootloader is very capable to be unlocked within a few minutes but they can not tell you how. Which leaves me to the question what the hold up.

Had anyone tried to bump it? The at&t lg g3 was only rootable by bump. No other method would work for it, it would just brick it. I would assume, since hi other methods work, then this would probably be the solution.

KingoRoot needs Bootloader
The LG Developers website lists a few devices and the steps but no support for Pheonix 3. Might still be worth going through the G6 motions I have an extra (m150) I'll try it tonight see where I get.
still no luck anyone ?
This has been extremely frustrating for me as well. Is it even possible to unlock the bootloader and root an LG Pheonix 3 (M150) v 7.0 without using a pc? Unfortunately my laptop fried so I'm currently without a pc to work with and the library computers have restrictions on using this kind of software on their computers. I'm starting to think that it's impossible to unlock the bootloader with no recovery mode and no pc to root this phone. At least not yet anyways. Does anyone know the solution to accomplishing this on this phone without a pc. If so, then you would be considered a god on this forum. That's how annoying this is. I want this phone rooted
I'd like to know how to unlock bootloader and root the m150 WITH or without a PC.

Hi, I am new to this and decided I need to root my Photon so I can use it as a WIFI hotspot for my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet. I have read so much I am totally lost and confused. I have tried pdanet foxfi(which did work with my laptop but that is now unusable) and such but I can only browse web on my tablet and nothing else. Every app says check internet conection or wifi connection. I need to be able to use apps that require wifi such as team viewer. Please help. I don't know the first thing about this.
I have sprint (regrettably stuck for 2 years now) but love my photon. If someone can post a link with like 1 2 3 type steps it would be fantastic. I know zilch and the more I read the less I know like minus zilch lol. I find using my tablet is so much easier too read that I would rather use it if I can for internet stuff versus my phone.
Thank you.
Is your device rooted and the bootloader unlocked?
Have you considered CyanogenMod or another custom ROM? Tethering works out of the box on most of those.
When I was on the stock ROM (before CM was on the device...) I used a wifi tether app from the Play Store, but you did have to be rooted to use it.

No worries.
I think there's still a way to root without unlocking - but here's the jist.
Unlocking allows you to do anything - custom recovery, custom ROM, whatever you please. Rooting only allows apps on your device root access - so you still have stock recovery, stock ROM.

lol, yes. Unlocking is pretty simple, just make sure you are getting the code correct - has to match exactly!
The only downside is the official warranty is voided - but if you have insurance with your provider, they should still honor it. Just the manufacturer warranty is voided.

I get off work in a few hours and after some sleep will go try that link up above. Desktop running xp. Have never connected photon to PC yet. Hopefully will go smoothly.
You should be fine running XP. The instructions from Windows 7 should be the same and if not they should be similar enough that you know what to do. I put the disclaimer in there because I don't like saying "this is how you do this" without having tested it first hand.
I installed the drivers and SDK now onto the rest hopefully tomorrow as I didn't want to start with only a few minutes left before I had to come to work.

Different cable? Different port? Different PC?
Are you sure the drivers are installed? Does the PC make a sound when you plug it in, indicating that it recognized *something* being plugged in?
How does it show up in device manager?
Please give us as much detail as you possibly can. What you've tried, etc.
Also, if you have debugging on turn it off, or if it's off, turn it on.

Hello guys,
I need your assistance with this issue. I got this Boost Mobile LG LS770/Stylo phone from eBay and when I wiped/restored it to clean everything from the other person, the phone still wants me to enter the information from the previous person before I can use it. Of course that is not an option. I tried.
Also, since I am unable to get to the Android OS, I cannot put it in debug mode either. So I tried a few things to no avail. This is what I have done so far:
Put the phone in ADB mode via recovery - Done, but I am unable to sideload anything. I get this error.. "* cannot read 'sideload' *"
Put the phone in download mode "Fireware Update" - Done, and I can see my port as COM3, but when I run the next step, I get a message that says... "Hello, my name is LAF....." and nothing happens.
I tried using the LG one click root tool, but that requires the phone to be in USB debug mode and like I said before, I am unable to even get to the welcome screen in android. I can't get past wifi setup in reality, I can't even skip it.
I have been at this all day today. Can you please help me out? I really appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks

Thank you for the suggestion , but this method does not work. I have already tried this and after the tool went through all the steps, it still asks for the previous account. I have found on some other forums that LG patched this flaw a few months ago and it is no longer possible to bypass FRP Factory Reset Protection. I guess I have a rock until someone can figure out how to bypass this "Feature", which in my opinion should be illegal because it forces people to buy devices from carriers only and you can no longer sell your phone online to anyone, as you cannot give them the account.

It didn't work for me either... the last security patch disabled user from the settings menu. I did find a way after many hours of work.
Basically once I got to settings I clicked unknown sources and then enabled USB debugging and oem unlock. After that I flashed twrp and then a rooted system image. After that I used http://androiding.how/bypass-google-account-verification-on-lg-g4-g3-and-others and it worked

I understand and I apologize if I sounded like I was shutting your advise down. That was not my intention. I was just stating what my virus tools detected and my experience. Regardless, I decided to ignore the virus warning and let the tool run and do what the steps on the word document stated. It went through all the steps without issues and I got the same matching screen as in the tutorial document. However, after I reboot, I still get the same screen that reads, login with a google account previously associated with this device.
Now, the one piece I'm not sure I understand from your message above is the part about flashing to 5.1.1 from MM using kdz files. How can you flash the phone when you cannot get into the settings to enable usb debug mode? I have tried everything. I even downloaded a rom file image that I placed on an Micro SD card and tried running it from recovery to no avail.
Maybe you are correct and I am just missing a step. Would you mind expanding on the flashing 5.1.1 from MM part? Maybe what steps and files you had to use?
Also, I'm not sure I understand this portion of your message. You signed in with who's gmail?

bump
I don't think this will work unless we get our Bootloader unlocked (which hasn't been done yet as far as i know)
UNLOCK BOOTLOADERS
If you have locked bootloaders, flashing one of these will probably brick your device - with the exception of Nexus devices, which will usually automatically "OEM unlock" and wipe your data !
this is kind of lame.... why chainfire release a auto root if the thevice have bootloader locked down? and onlockable?
Confused myself
I want to say root is possible, there are tons of sites with instructions: https://www.google.com/search?q=SM-...i57j0j69i60.9343j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Of course, XDA doesn't seem to have a specific G930T thread for rooting with instructions, then see threads like this today. I was all set to give it a try, but unsure if should proceed...
Did find this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s7/help/sm-g930t-root-doesnt-void-warranty-t3415936
EDIT: so the one linked in original comment was the bleeding edge root process and seems like had a really high failure rate. Most current I've seen is: http://lifeatsamsung.com/root-t-mobile-galaxy-s7-sm-g930t-2/
Seems a little more clean cut and easy. I'll edit again if I find a newer solution or at least commentary on success/fail

On the other side of it, phone is great, fast, if not faster than before, and got root. Let me know if you would like some screenshots proving a TMO phone is rootable or if can answer any questions

This means that the only rooting method right now isn't as stable as it would be if it had a unlocked bootloader the root right now will cause some issues but they can easily be fix from some of the steps after rooting guides that are in the xda forums and yes it using a Qualcomm processor Witch is pretty much the snapdragon and there hasn't been any luck this past year of getting the bootloader unlocked for full and smooth rooting I'm really ****ty at explaining sorry if your still lost
The Chainfire method he released does NOT work. I'm not sure why he released it...maybe he knows of a future bootloader unlock that we don't know about.

Any luck?
I don't think there's hope for this device, we might as well look for another phone.

Possibly
Unless someone can find an eng.boot.IMG, nothing can be done. That is an engineering kernel and they are used to allow rooting and general root access for ENGineers. They are very hard to find and with this phone its dead. I was working on it and my contact fell off the radar who was supposed to get one for me for this device. I never got the phone since that didn't work out. I had the old j7, the J700T, t mobile.I got the nexus 6 which is another 2 year phone, but can do way more development wise.

I'm frankly just moving on to another phone asap. No point on waiting anymore.
