So I downloaded Antutu, and looked at info for my device -aaand Antutu tells me that my device does not have a 19MP rear camera, but instead an 8MP rear camera and 13MP front camera.
Did Antutu get this one right, or is it buggy, or did Sony mess up?
Any input?

I might be wrong here, but Sont isnt allowing any third party app access to anything higher than 8MP, try any other camera app and will only allow you to take picture at 8MP. Sony's own camera app does show up to 19MP. This sucks for app such as Snapchat if you take pictures with rear camera... and Antutu will show max 8MP.
Front camera has no restriction from what I can gather.

Great, thanks for helping out
Try snap camera. It does 19mp and has some nice optons, too.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marginz.snap
Open camera from playstore do allso have 19 mp

Edit: Sony actually limits Camera2 API for 3rd party apps, which seems to be the reason for 8MP for apps using Camera2 API.

Is there a camera replacement that lets me specify the ISO?
I read something about the Desire camera apk but can't find much more info. Anyone know anything?
Heh, what do you know! That isn't adjustable either!
I tried 3 camera apps and no luck

I haven't found any great camera aps for the Nexus S.
I use Camera 360 for it's HDR feature, but it's not ideal: it doesn't offer 16x9 option, the HDR is so-so and you have to keep the stock camera for video.
And of course, I wish someone would figure out how to get 720p video from the Nexus S.

I care a lot less about 720p video than manual ISO. Cranking the ISO can really help get much better pictures in low light. I used my Evo to take some incredible photos of Iron Maiden in concert at the Garden, but I had to shoot at ISO 800 for it. On Auto they were just too blurry.

Heh, to each their own.... But the fact is still that there isn't a great camera app which does anything truly useful that the stock camera doesn't.
BTW, how did the pics look on a big screen at ISO 800? Did you get tons of noise, or were the shots useful?
Large images, but it doesn't seem the thread is good for much else anyway

That was done with an evo? You have to have a steady hand too with low light. I certainly can't do it.
Yup. In the pit. The pics at auto ISO were just blurs.

Okay, usually I don't take photos with my mobile, I'd rather choose a DSLR because of the better quality. Anyways, here is one I've taken. The phone was running MIUI v9 (as far as I know). I used the MIUI Camera App Port from the i9003 Themes and Apps section. 5MP, exposition -2. Not the best photo I have taken, but quite ok and the quality is ok for a mobile, but unfortunately I needed to compress it, before uploading.

Picture Size: 5 MP
Exposure: 0
Focus Mode: Auto / Infinity / Macro (tried all of them but no good focus)
Scene Mode: Auto
Here is my camera result with above settings:

I am using Jelly Bean 4.1.1
Have you tried with a different camera? I had a similar problem when installing CM10. I was using Camera ZoomFX and it started to work terrible. Stock camera, on the other hand, worked much better. I just went back to the stock one and forgot about it.

I have tried:
1. Stock Camera App
2. Camere Zoom FX
3. Camera ICS
But I did not get better result from my phone's camera... Stock camera and Camera ICS do not allow me to use TOUCH FOCUS on the other hand in Camera Zoon Fx when I touch on the screen it shows sometimes Red and sometimes Green box depend upon the situation but actually it does not focus that green box is just for showing, it actually does not focus the subject, I have tried different settings but no good focus and no good pictures
do a factory reset, then upgrade to 4.1.2
this was a shot made with my i9023 + stock google 4.1.2, about 5 months ago:
I came across this thread on reddit yesterday, by user Chlastek, about how low light photography could be improved on the P2. It's basically a simple process as long as you're rooted. I was skeptical initially because I have previously tried several camera apps (open camera, oneplus, etc...) and didn't quite see the purported "noticeable improvement". I checked the sample photos he provided and was surprised that they were really from the P2. I tried it out myself and the photos came out less grainy, sharper, and just better overall.
Check his thread on reddit for more details. All credits go to him; I'm just the messenger.

This Camera app is a great upgrade for our p2 but not a magic application... unfortunately.
After different tests, we can have good results and "correct photos" in the worst conditions :

Thank you so much for sharing this!
I've been trying out the various camera apps and ports for a while now, but results were always disappointing!
This one is absolutely awesome, and by my tests it works pretty well on daylight too.. if you zoom the pictures taken in auto mode with low light mode on you'll notice they don't have that terrible high-contrast post processing you get with the other apps
Just in case someone's having trouble finding "low light mode" (like I was), in settings - other - Use Camera2 API -> On
Hi
I installed as above but was getting the legacy warning for api2 and read the below which is from the xda thread for the snap camera app.
So not sure if it actually works better (on Lenovo p2) ?
Qte:
I'm almost certain that your phone won't support Camera2, if you get a message about being in "legacy" mode when switching to it then you should never use camera2 mode.
Edit: disregard above had a typo in the command line of build.prop. now there is no more warning about legacy more. Installed also Google camera her+ with same tweak in build prop

Yup I have been using snap cam HDR for low light..... It's superb with less noise and more details....
i'm looking for a phone with a good macro camera to view and take shots of PCB surface mount components. (resistors etc)
looking at the Moto G Stylus G5 since it's macro camera is 5MP. however none of the reviews i've seen include macro shots.
dear reviewers... just because YOU don't have a need for a macro camera, don't assume it's the same for others.
can some owners be kind enough to post some macro shots please?
the closer to an object the better.
A little late but the moto g stylus 5g (original quad lens model) has awful macro shots so hopefully you were able to find something else.
The main rear camera quality is pretty decent at least.
The issue is with the dedicated macro lens, it's really hard to get a good focus on your subject since the lens is fixed focus, so no tap to focus. It's kind of boggling to be honest. I ended up just never using macro mode on the phone and use the main rear cam lens for close up shots.

many thanks for the info. i've ended up using an old Galaxy S5 (not as a phone) which does a good job at close work.
i can clearly read the surface mount resistor 18R0 (18Ω)
