Hi all
You might be knowing about the Nova Google Companion App, which enabled Nova Launcher users on Android MM+ to use the Google Now Panel. Recently, it was made available to LL+ users too
Today, I will share a guide which enables users to use this (maybe useful) Google Now Panel on their Jellybean 4.1+ devices
Pre-requisites
Latest Nova Launcher
Nova Google Companion App here
A working brain
A tool for modifying .apk files(APK Editor Pro, APKTool, etc.)
Let's go-
Decompile Nova Google Companion App
Look for AndroidManifest.xml and open it
Look for something like this
Code:
<uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="21" android:targetSdkVersion="26" />
Change android:minSdkVersion="21" to 16.It would now look like this
Code:
<uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="16" android:targetSdkVersion="26" />
Save the file.
Recompile the APK and then install it
Open Nova Google Companion App and press OK
Go to Nova Settings>Google Now>Google Now Page and turn it on if not already
Go back to Nova home screen and you now have the Now Panel working on JellyBean

It works
I'm quite sure there must be a reason why TeslaCoil has limited the app to work only in API 21+. If it was just as easy as lowering the API limits in the AndroidManifest they'd have done that already, so beware of bugs... Just saying

Bugs, they are already mentioned in my post.
We can't check for updates through the app.
There can also be other reasons. Maybe TeslaCoil doesn't like the taste of KitKats

That's not a bug. That's because the application hasn't been signed with their key and a problem only those who modify the app will face. *It's not what I meant*.

You have to go to settings to enable the weather.
I have attached the theme zip, due to size constraints, its in 2 parts. Enjoy.

Yeah, just checked, same here, but that's a problem with this AOSP build. I'm gonna keep using it though, still very functional.

UPDATE
Updated the theme to to work with the 2nd AOSP release by Chris Soyars.
Most bugs with the ROM are fixed.
Added a better charging animation.
just wanted to thankyou for this theme and hope you continue to develop it.

I don't use the kitchen, I compile the framework myself in apkmanager.
I recently installed the [ROM][4.0.4] ~NUMA~ (vG2.0 - Gamma) [FEB.17.2013] ROM and absolutely love it. The only thing I can't get to work is the Smart Actions app. It installs fine but when you go to create there are no examples and you have to create your own but there are no triggers or actions. I tried using that Tasker app but yeah, not so much. Any help would be greatly appreciated
*Update*
I ended up finding aSmart Actions APK on here and installed it. Problem solved.
Any way you can pass that apk along to me?

it would be very kind of you if you could upload the message app too. i would like to use it with qslide.
I think what you need to do is flash the entire firmware back to stock because people are nice but we're not going to keep handing you a piece at a time till you end up with a half-ass functional Flex 2 again.
Seriously, if the device requires you to patch it back together with this apk, that apk, this and that apk, and it just keeps going then it's time to start fresh. I mean, if people want to keep putting together that patchwork quilt of a device you're using that's fine, I'm just saying that in 15 minutes or less you'd have basically a fresh clean installation and none of this little "fix this, fix that..." stuff will be necessary.
But the choice is yours.

you cant simply do anything to stock,
remember, its EMUI,, the heavy themed android, might crash something..not sure, you can give a try, only after making a backup..

Make sure your Google app is up to date and check your location settings and try to refresh your weather app if you have any..
And reboot once , even if you don't get it
