Hello guys
I have a problem. My Bluetooth won't turn on because my folder with the Bluetooth Share apk in it got deleted.
Don't ask me how I did this... I am absolutly clueless myself. I couldn't get it back by restoring the phone.
I hope someone can help me.
Btw. my honor 8 is rooted.
nougat? if so, do soundrecorder/calendar/compass/nfc work? if not, prolly wiped data partition. bluetooth aswell as mentioned apps are tied to data/hw_init
Just reflash your stock firmware.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
Reflash using dload
It seems like my calendar works without a problem but my nfc/soundrecorder/compass don't work.
Reflashing usin dload doesn't seem to fix it...
Tried reflashing it with my stock firmware too no success.
yes :/
u obv wiped /data partition at some point. flashing both zips should've fixed that tho. in any case, dirty fix without wiping anything is to extract your update_data_full_hw_eu or whichever u have, move it to /data via some sort of root explorer, so the path looks like /data/hw_init, and apply proper permissions to all files and folders: rwxr-xr-x to folders, rw-r--r-- to files. this works. alternatively you could take the same files and push them to proper locations in /system, also applying same permissions.
however, dload should work
Seems like I'm to dumb to flash my device proparly.
But made a dirty fix. The bluetooth share app shows up now but I still can't turn bluetooth on. Thank you for your help up to now.
didnt really bother with it because i received OTA, but as far as i can tell, issue is not with the zips, rather security checks. those 2 data files can be merged to one no problem, a little fix to updater-script and its fine, you have 2 files to flash. still wont work due to issues with updater.app check
well there is always complete reflash via dload :/

This package includes the de-odexed system and framework folder based on a wifi model.
This is NOT a full install, so do NOT wipe before using.
This package is designed to be used with the custom recovery image. This will NOT work with Odin.
This will delete the current system and framework folders and flash the new ones in their place. This is only a temporary solution until a full rooted install is established.

My Verizon GC120 should be here in a couple of days. As far as I know it is untouched stock. Let me know the commands to pull the files you need for this and the other dev work you are doing.
Thank you for taking the time to do the work! We all appreciate it!
Finally received a GC120 camera I can do something with. Attached are the .img files pulled. About says my phone is on 4.1.2 (LK3) but I keep getting an install update request although the folder titled as the update in /cache is empty (so there's nothing I can pull from that).
I also pulled the modem.bin but it says invalid file when I try to upload.
*These are the files for LK3
Camera updated to LL2. Updated files attached.
MC4 files attached
So maybe I screwed myself updating all the way to MK4 update. Can't root using framaroot now like I did with all the others. Gonna try a few other options.
Can someone please tell me the adb command to find whether a bootloader is locked or not? I have tried several I've found online and don't receive anything conclusive. Thanks.
Be back in a week or so. Final project is in the beta test stage so I am swamped until it reaches the release candidate.

I dug through everything I have but no efs.img and if I remember right, you'd need one with your IMEI. Best bet is probably a factory reset.
Didn't help... tried factory reset with stock recovery and cwm recovery... nothing helps... i don't know a way to get it fixed... will keep looking...
Finally got it fixed. As GC100 is similar to S3, downloaded efs file for S3 flashed it via odin through bootloader and voila... attaching the file for reference if anyone else gets into trouble!

Hi, I read that anyone with a developer's account can access the developers' preview build of Android L, that was supposed to be available today, I have a developer's account (to upload apps to the market) but I don't see any build of android L, is this the required account? or is there any other type of account required? thanks!

I guess it'll be available in a few hours.
I guess they just haven't released it, yet.
Don't forget their different timezone.
Thank you all, maybe I'm getting too desperate I just wanted to confirm that my account is the right one, I'll be refreshing until it appears, thanks again!
EDIT: I believe being rooted would not be a problem at the moment of the installation, right? I know that I'll lose root after that, but as long as the actual installation does not give me problems, it's fine.

Considering that the images will have to be flashed through fastboot, you'll probably lose root and everything else on data/system partitions (unless they don't wipe it, but I think it does).

As long as you don't flash the userdata.img, all /sdcard data will be fine. You don't have to flash userdata.img to bump android versions! System, boot would do just fine (and bootloader if they bump it as well)
Or you could just wait till a flashable zip is posted. Someone will have one up within hours of release.

Unless they changed the folder structure like they did a few releases ago - if they did, best to do a clean install.
I'm backing up right now just in case.
Don't wanna mess with the installation script by flashing some things and not others (although there would be virtually no risk by flashing system and boot partition), but better safe than sorry, after all, we can just shove everything back when finished
Consider ir a backup routine, and you'll have an updated bk

That's an entirely different scenario. Each and everyone of us would need to wipe clean if that happens but usually a system and boot flash would do just fine
The N5 has been my FIRST of many, many, many Android phones and even Windows Pocket PC phones that I haven't felt the need to unlock/root etc. Everything has just worked great on it and I have always been able to do everything I wanted to do from this phone. I have been so satisfied with the phone that it has kept me away from XDA for a while. Don't know if that is a good thing or bad, lol. I used to be on this site for hours every single day and now I feel like I am light years behind in rooting. HA!
L has me interested though and I am contemplating unlocking my bootloader for it which just becomes a PITA with losing your data and adding things back and all that great stuff that takes so much of your time. Then if things suck you have to flash back to something else and the never ending process continues. The N5 has gotten me so much time back in my life but I feel like it might demand some of my time back to it. Oh I hate this stuff!!!!
I think I'll make a backup, just in case, as someone said previously, I would prefer to make a clean installation if it's needed and use the image provided by Google.
Thanks!
After updating, rooting and further steps with my Honor 8 I noticed that the ringtones (as well as alarms) got lost on the way. I even think they suddenly disappeared a few days after...
However I don't know where the system ringtones are located normally. I've got a Ringtone folder in my data but there is nothing inside. And where can I get the original ringtones? Got all firmware packages and UpdateExtractor on my computer.
Thanks!

Just reflash your firmware to get them back. Also, ringtones are located in /system/media
Go to settings and through updater, press the option of "download latest full firmware", it should solve it

Will I loose root or even data? It seems like alle the ringtones, alarms,... are still in the folder. Any idea why they are not regonized? Maybe some App does't have SD permissions but I absolutely don't know which one I have to check.
Youll lose root and probably data, if the ringtones are there and are not recognized, I don't what to say.

Can you try this workaround?
1. Grab all your notification tones and ringtones from /system/media
2. Create a folder in internal storage named Notifications and Ringtones
3. Put your grabbed files in their respective folder.

Ehm I couldn't acccess them... If you mean my question where I can get the ringtones: At this point I thought they are not on my phone anymore and I have to insert them somewhere. But it seems like they are on my phone but just aren't regonized. The workaround fixed it but the orginal ringtone folder is just ignored by the system.

Thank you both but I won't reflash the firmware when there is another way. I had sooo many problems with flashing, rooting, BusyBox and more. Got back to stock and updated/installed everything like 4 times. I'm just happy that the phone finally works. Would I have knew that the Honor 8 hates modifications so much, I wouldn't have bought it. Never got problems with my OnePlus One...
Besides, my updater just doesn't work (I'm using Firmware Finder). I think it's because my Honor is a specsaes (Malaysian Version, even though it's a FRD-L09 (European) - don't get this ****) and I'm located in Germany.

As mentioned mainly rooting and the problems with encrypted data. Titanium Backup and LuckyPatcher still don't work as good as with my OnePlus One. And if I had knew that there is no XPosed (at the moment)...

I rooted my phone last week because I wanted to use substratum to theme my notifications. Since then, I've run into a bunch of frustrating problems.
Current Model: OnePlus 7 Pro 12GB version, build xXx_NoLimits_7.7 on OOS 9.5.11-GM21AB
Problems:
Phone used to be 9.5.11-GM21AA but now it's 9.5.11-GM21AB - does this affect anything?
Substratum hasn't worked in stock+root, and 2 different ROMs I've tried
Favourite app of mine doesn't work properly and I think it's because I'm on build 9.5.11 and not 9.5.10
How I messed it up: Started by rooting and trying to install Renovate ICE Rom, installed the wrong file which converted me to 9.5.5-GM21AB. Then I updated to 9.5.11 but it remained AB. I tried several times to unroot, roll back and get to 9.5.10AA but it always kept itself at 9.5.11AB. Sometimes my wifi would break. I currently have xXx NoLimits Rom installed.
Desired outcome: I want to unroot and roll back to 9.5.10-GM21AA stock
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks, that was super easy. MSM automatically rolled back my phone to 9.5.3.GM21AA.
I have one more question - if I want to update it to 9.5.10GM21AA, how would I do that? If I update through the system, it will take me to 9.5.11, which I do not want. If the process is easier if I'm rooted, I already did that. To top it off, my substratum is working now after I reset my phone to how it is now. All I need is to update it to 9.5.10 and I would be sooooooo happy .
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply! I thought as much. Can you clarify if these steps are right?
Go to https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=294300
Download the one I want (9.5.10AA)
Move the file to my phone's internal storage
Update via Local Upgrade

You will unrooted after the upgrade as itll flash completely stock.
Just re-roof after it and your good to go!

For my purposes, 9.5.9 and 9.5.10 are good. 9.5.11 reverted something with the brightness and so I don't want to use it.
I found a zip from the OP site for 9.5.9 so I was able to update to that one and since I got root/substratum to work without issue, I'm happy to stay at this build. In my eyes, my phone is absolutely perfect now and I am extremely happy. The only thing I would change is the size but that has nothing to do with the software/OS. Thanks for everybody's help!

Hi,
I bought my phone three months back. Ever since the last update Version Name - WW18.0840.2106.86 my wifi and Hotspot just won't turn on.
I have been through the asus forum and seems like alot of customers are facing this issue.
One of them confirmed that even after replacing motherboard the issue persists. Others are facing air trigger issues after replacing the motherboard.
Just wanted to know if anyone here is facing similar issues.
DO let me know your thoughts on should I visit service center and Get my motherboard replaced or should I wait for the next update. My current Version Name - WW18.0840.2107.151
PS: My phone is not rooted
Thanks
I have not had these issues personally. I just updated to .151 last night though, so we shall see.
The general consensus is that the mobo needs to be replaced, and will most likely not get fixed with a software update. If it was correctable, a major issue like this would have forced a new FW update after .86 caused your initial problem.
You could always try flashing raw FW if you really want to tinker, but I doubt it will help. I would hit the service center and get the mobo replaced.
Good luck!

Really? I have same problem after update. It didn't allow me to turn on wifi. But if its sure that installing kernel would solve the problem I might give it a try
Would you elaborate your situation regarding this sir?

Where did you install OTA file? Does Ota file install mean you in the home screen of the phone? Ota is in the main storage, right?

OTA files are the standard updates. There are a lot of how to guides that answer most of these questions, which may be why nobody is jumping up to walk you through it.
I wouldn't trust someone installing OTA files in TWRP because the system handles them already without any software. That is just asking for problems.

The link I posted earlier is included in that. Not sure why nothing showed up for it, but maybe you'll have better luck getting to it that way.
There's always a possibility it is a hardware issue. A lot of them have been SIM, Wifi, and Bluetooth issues. If you suspect a kernel issue, make sure you are following the instructions to restore. If you only flashed a boot, you didn't follow the instructions.
