I find out that my S7-930v converted to 930f - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello guys
I bought an s7 today , then I found out that it has been converted from Verizon version to International version
From SM-G930V to SM-G930F , I knew because it came with Snapdragon 820
The problem is can I update it to nougat 7.0.1 ?
When I check for updates nothing happened
please help the warranty wont be valid after 4 days
and should I return it ?

First time I see G930F has snapdragon 820, u should try aida64 to see full info of your s7

proof please? How do you know it's g930f with SD?

What do you mean by converted? You sure someone just hasn't flashed a 930F firmware on it which makes it show as 930F in 'About device'?
Boot into download mode, that will show you the true model.

Its not fully converted. It was flashed with g930f pda file. Just download the latest verizon rom (usa) and flash it with odin

my s6 was 'converted' from sprint to international. didn't know that at the time so just flashed another rom onto it (so didn't check exactly what it was before). It was probably sprint version rom with changed name (build.prop?) because only sprint version, not international, could be flashed and was working. as far as i know there is no way to flash international version onto sprint or verizon (especially when s7 versions have different processor)

We see a lot of US S7 models (Snapdragon) faked to look like the International (Exynos) G930F because the US models are bootloader locked, the International is not
Which one would you buy?
Only way to check what the correct model is for sure is from download mode
They can't fake that, and obviously if it is Snapdragon, it can't be G930F

SM-G930V or SM-G930P ?

Hello, I bought S7 in internet. It was sold to me as Verizon version (SM-G930V). Actual software (G930VVRU2APB5) means that it's Verizon version indeed, but IMEI check shows that it's Sprint version (SM-G930P)... So I have few questions about this situation:
1. Is it bad that box and phone says that it's Verizon but IMEI says that it's Sprint? What may it cause in future? Or maybe phone is not original? Download mode works and Antutu checked confirms that it's original...
2. I wanted to upgrade my soft but how to do that? Update function shows me error while downloading so I wanted to do it via Odin but again - which version should I download? The latest from Verizon or Sprint?...
3. I live in Europe - will this phone work in our network? I mean 4G etc
My 930P has been flashed with 930V, 930A, 930T1,and 930U firmware all snapdragons are universal in that they can be flashed with all other USA carriers firmware

Oh, that's right So how do you think, is there any difference between all firmwares for snapdragon. I'm wondering now which one should I download...

930U is unlocked and debloated firmware but gets updated less frequently. The rest is really up to you on which bloat you prefer. If you are wanting to root I'd suggest 930V

Grey market sellers will flash fake firmware to make non-930F models to appear as 930F. If download mode says G9300 then that's what you have, a chinese snapdragon model they've faked to look international.
Install CPU-Z, it's probably going to confirm you have a SD820 and not an exynos.
You can still flash firmware, it will just have to be stock firmware, and compatible with SD820. Any 930F firmware is probably going to bootloop you.

Use Firmware Of A Different Model

Hi,
I have a S8+ with the model SM-G955FD and was wondering if I am able to download the firmware for the model SM-G955F?
The phone was purchased outside of Australia and doesn't use the Australian (Telstra) firmware that I would like it to. I just figured they are the same phone just different model numbers so there shouldn't be any issues right? I might just lose a couple features or something but the phone should work correctly?
Thanks in advance.
Yea, the G955FD is the dual SIM Exynos variant, right?
I'm sure the dual SIM uses the same firmware as the single SIM, so you should have no worries flashing Aussie firmware.
But I would suggest you flash the XSA (Aussie unbranded) firmware, not Telstra firmware. You'll lose nothing, but you'll get faster updates.

I thought as much, thanks so much for clarifying. I will download the XSA firmware as well.
Thanks
I'm using Metro PCS service on a Singapore XSP and experiencing some terrible 4G service. Is there anything I can do about this, looked perhaps flash smother CSC onto my 955FD?

Here's the XSA (Australia) firmware:

Flash it. Doesn't matter if your device is G955F or FD, the ROMs are exactly the same.
Does the method works with G955J SCV35 model? I'm running NTDocomo firmware on KDDI model to unlock network (single SIM) . I wan't to flash unlocked U firmware but getting scared that the phone will be bricked.

replace firmware question/help

First post here, please go easy on me
Would there be any issues if I were to replace the firmware on my S8+ G955F unlocked (previously with AT&T) with that of a different country/carrier but for the same G955F model? (not rooted)
My carrier hasnt release any updates since G955FXXU1AQDH back in May; I see other countries already have G955FXXU1AQG7 released this week.
thanks!
If the Exynos variants are like the Snapdragon ones, then you should be fine. As long as it is 955F firmware.

Can i flash G955U with G955FD ?

Hi,
I recently moved to India and have the Unlocked S8+ G955U model with me.
I am not getting the Volte (Jio sim) on it when connected to wifi.
So I want to flash with Indian variant G955FD.
Since I am flashing with different model stock ROM will this work? or I cant as it is Exynos and my device is Snapdragon.
Also need steps how to backup current existing G955U stock from the phone.

Short answer: NO!
You CAN'T FLASH -FD- firmware on a -U- device!

No you can't. The firmware is different to match the hardware.
