Who's back? We're back.
CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.
We only support Dynamic GApps, reports on force closes with any other packages will be ignored.

Thank you great ROM. Do you work snaps?

Hi,
All roms Lineage base and AOSP base does not work the snap.
Only stock rom and stock base works.

Are you having GPS issues? I'm in the US but not having any GPS issues. Apps seem to be locking very quickly.
I'm going to try updating the GPS from CAF and see if that helps.

Snaps as in Moto mods? If so then I'll go with "maybe". I actually have a test build in which battery mod and projector mod should work if anyone wants to test it message me here or on telegram @gtpitch

I get no lock with device only. High accuracy was getting the a-gps but doesn't lock. I've waited about 3 minutes and decided to switch gps conf. Used the one posted in los thread and still the same result. Not sure why this is happening lately and why los decided to screw something that was already working before. You cherry pick from los right? The other aosp rom dev for xperience does this.
---------- Post added at 12:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:03 PM ----------
I also forgot to ask what's everyone's gps conf settings for those in the US.

I tried thos ROM and have the same GPS problem. Is the same like LinOS. Stock worked fine.

Ok I think I've fixed device only GPS so it'll be in this next weekly (Tuesday). Let me know if you see an improvement. Still work to be done but it at least locks device only.
Sent from my XT1635-02 using Tapatalk

Great! What kind of changes? Perhaps I can use it for my LinOS and compile it and test. Is it possible?

Just confirmed Waze locking device only mode in under 15 seconds.
If you use muppets vendor you need to remove GPS.conf from the mk file

Is it enough to change your gps.conf? Sorry - I can't find the other files in LinOS.

Miss one thing system wakelock blocker, any alternative?
I think not, there is a module for xposed but i preffer dont use it, it change framework. Use a custom kernel, decepticon has wakelock blocker for wifi and data, you can configurate it from synapse

As for my experience, Nougat (haven't tested CR for stability and performance yet though) had many more issues. I do a lot of tweaks and mods. I also do heavy gaming. Substratum IMHO is horrible. I've tried many ROMs, but ended up going back to CM13.

How does it compare to ResurrectionRemix? I'm eyeballing alternatives to RR that sport signature spoofing and CarbonROM seems like a good candidate.

I played with this ROM for 30mins or so earlier when I was choosing to go with CarbonROM or DU 13.1 and it has some nice features.
Not nearly as many as HavocOS for examples but a good amount of the core ones you expect.

Nopes! I'll wait before flashing it then. At this point, I'd hope every Pie ROM has that patch but I understand Carbon is still new to this device on Pie and the maintainer must have missed that patch. Thanks a ton for answering my query!
Might be nice to include a link to CarbonROM website as mentioned in the OP.

Thanks! Considering the mantainer is active, I'd definitely love to give it a shot as soon as it'll support FDE.

I think these commits might be the required ones to make it work. I did some digging and found about them. I can be wrong as well but hope it's worth a look.

Thanks for the pie update. On Oreo, there was a bug where going into data settings would crash settings app. Does it happen on pie too?
Edit: No more crashes :highfive:

CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled ROMs, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best ROM we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub...
What is PAX?
Our release of Android 10, titled CR-8.0, is codenamed PAX after the latin word for peace and Pax, the roman godess for peace.
PAX provides you with the features you need while keeping the focus on delivering an elegant, smooth, and well polished experience. PAX delivers a set of unique features, like a systemwide font engine that also allows for applying fonts on user apps while supporting user fonts through custom APKs generated on fonts.carbonrom.org. We are confident you'll love it, and there's many more things to discover
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! As always, make sure to do backups.
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has addressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
3) Join our Discord server or Telegram group! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
Requirements:
You should start off with the latest OxygenOS on both slots and then proceed to flash Carbon.

Can you provide some logs please? I've tested the builds on OB11 and older (as thats still the newest on the German OnePlus download page...). Will check against 10.3 (I assume 10.3.2, the latest?), but logs would still be awesome

There are plans but I can't provide any specific information yet. I'm part of OnePlus' dev seeding which means OnePlus will provide me with a device from the OnePlus 8 series, likely the OnePlus 8 Pro. However, due to the current situation, internal approval and processing was and is delayed which also delays us getting the device, so I'm unable to provide you further information at this point.

+1 could someone on this please test the WiFi connection? On other custom roms e.g Havoc, when further away from the router (therefore a weaker connection) the WiFi would disconnect/reconnect. This does not occur on OOS in the same situation. A log shows some error going on.
Also to the dev @Myself5 , if I were to switch to this rom, experience this issue, would you be willing to analyse a log in hope of finding a solution?
Out of curiosity also, is this based on the same source as Havoc?

I didn't experience any unnormal WiFi behavoir in the past 3 months I've been daily driving it, but if you get it I'd gladly look into it.
I don't know what kind of device sources Havoc uses, but I'm working together with the Lineage maintainers on device trees. Apart from that the only common thing Carbon and Havoc share is being based on AOSP, i think.

Ah thank you so much for the response, really appreciate it!
I'm gonna aim to load CarbonROM soon, hopefully tomorrow evening perhaps and I'll see if the issue exists. If it does, I'll capture a log and see it we can get to the bottom of this!
FYI @Toutatis_
