obb to external card - General Questions and Answers

I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 and have a 64gb Micro Sd Card.
I recently want to download heavy apps and try to activate adoptable storage via adb but when i check it by using the has-adoptable-storage, the result was false.
Another solution is to partition disk private or mixed.
I suceed in that and have 2 partition.
The apps i move to the private partition is only the apk.
I really need to move obb and data to the private partition.
I really need help. It's not the matter of root or not root, i will try to root the device if the solution force me to.
Btw, Link2sd linking apps show me the ways i don't really want to since app link are too much messy.

Vodafone Smart tab 2 (Lenovo A2107A) - Swap SD

I couldnt find a dedicate thread for Vodafone Smart tab 2. So I guess I ll post this here maybe will help some people.
This tablet is basicaly a Lenovo A2107 (A2107A_A404_010_002_120913_VODA)
- with single sim slot ( call feature restricted - only data enabled) and 4gb storage (1.8 gb user available)
For root - you can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044496
User isyrider managed to install recovery and pemergency rom unlocking the calling feature also.
I was looking for a way to swap the internal storage with the sd card so I could get more space if posible without installing a custom rom to avoid incompatibility issues that could appear. Directory bind can help with big game files like gameloft but those 2 gb are still not too much . I was unable to install N.O.V.A 3 because it requires 1.81 gb free on sd.
Anyway long story short . To swap internal memory with SD card you need to have root and replace your VOLD.FSTAB file from system/etc with the one I attached.
You need to have root .
Use any root explorer.
Unzip attachment
Rename your VOLD.FSTAB to VOLD.FSTAB.BAK
Copy my VOLD.FSTAB to system/etc
Reboot.
Check in settings, You will see your sd card listed as internal memory.
This combined with link2sd app will give you plenty of space to install anything .
Hope this helps .
Hi icrazy, I've tried this procedure but unfortunately, I wasn't able to copy your 'vold.fstab' to the directory 'system/etc'. I've rooted my unit before I did this. Now the unit cannot detect SD card. I cannot rename/copy/move any file on this directory. please help... How to restore it, Thank you in advance
Hello, I don't understand what happen. If you were not able to copy my vold.fstab what did you change ? I ask this because you must have done something if now is not working.
Anyway it looks like is a problem with your file explorer , make sure it has read /write rights for system files.
Can you please share some light on isyrider? what is that? where can we find it? Google search didn't seem to help me with this
Is there any way in unlocking the phone feature without installing a different ROM? The last time i did that, with another lenovo tablet, i lost my 3g capabilities , and honestly i don't want to repeat that thing allover again.
Thank you icrazy, working perfectly
I have now 2x Vodafone Smart Tab II 7" with 4 GB and 8 GB storage on internal memory
Hi i managed to use the vold.fstab and replace the internal memory with the sdcard but my problem wasnt solved because the tablet also has another partition 503mb of internal storage and when i install any app will install the apps data on that internal storage even if i have sdcard or internal memory as default write disk so after a couple of apps i have the out of space issue because the internal storage is full is there any way to swap the internal storage 503mb ( not the internal memory 1.85gb) with the internal memory or even with the sdcard this is really stupid why have only 503mb of internal storage if the apps save keep saving data on that partition
Regards

[Q] Managing memory

Hi,
Can anybody give me some tips on how to maximize the memory available to this tablet? There's only about 4GB of available memory for apps. I have a 32GB sdcard but that's not a lot of help because Link2SD isn't able to move the apps completely to the card.
I am looking for a way to either free up more internal memory, or at least make use of the sdcard more effectively. One of my problems right now is that one o the book readers I use like to import the books that I add to its library into the internal card. Frustrating. I would appreciate any help or resource you guys could point me to.
Thanks,

if brother you are rooted you can uninstall unwanted system apps from tab memory and should move apps to sd card
and also wipe cache partition in recovery

Thanks! I didn't realize I could wipe the cache partition. I am still a relative noob to all of this because my main devices are on Windows Phone and I am only using the Galaxy tab primarily as an ebook and comic book reader (which brought about the problem of low storage space when I tried to organize my library files on it.
Follow up question: Regarding moving apps to the SD card, this is where I am stumped. I think I probably did something wrong along the way while installing link2sd or formatting my SD card. I always get an error saying that "Link2SD is not supported by your device. Because your device has a primary external storage which is emulated from internal storage."
Do you guys have any idea on how best to handle this? A quick search on the internet did not give me a lot of options. At this point it seems like I'd probably end up just starting from scratch, wiping out my SD card (or maybe it's also just me wanting to justify trying out a new rom).

my brother for link2sd to work you should have to make ext partition of your sd card

Installing apps to the SD.

Hey all,
Does the Z3 support installing every app fully to the SD card? I ask because 16gb seems a bit limiting if you can't fully use the SD card.
I just came here to ask the same question. In Kitkat 4.4.4 (and maybe other versions?) the 'Move to SD' is disabled/not there and it is up to the phone manufacturer to enable/add it. There is no option in settings on the Z3 to move app data to your SD card. It is very easy to enable apps to be able to use the SD card, either manually or using an app such as SDFix (but you will need to be rooted).
Here are some questions I would like answered if anyone knows:
There are folders on the SD card for most apps in /Android/data/ for example, 'com.microsoft.skydrive'. That same folder is also in the same place (/Android/data/) on the phones memory and contains data for the app. Can that just be moved with a file explorer to the SD card? If so are there any other steps to take?
Is there an app to automate moving data or a way to add the button in settings, apps?
Cheers
Wait till 5 ! It's was disabled is kk
You can use FolderMount to transfer game data to external storage (sdcard)
I use it and it is really essential to me

Galaxy amp2 6.0.1 ext sd card issue

Hi xda, thanks for being here for us wee users: WE KNOW YE ARE GODS:good::
My question is do i have to root my new Amp2 6.0.1 Marshmallow, in order to utilize the Samsung External sd card i bought for it ? The reason I ask is that the Amp2 would not recognize a Sandisk 16gb ext.sd, b/c 'no second partition,' NOR will it allow use of the REQUIRED Samsung ext sd, for the same reason, 'no second partition.' Link2SD is what i purchased for my S3, & it cannot move my apps for lack of two primary partitions. &, APARTED does not work without root.:crying: HELP PLEASE, as i don't really WANT root, since 'flashify' destroyed my S3. Thanks for REPLY.
Hi, I am no expert on this and I dont have an amp2 but I do have a samsung on5 from metropcs/tmobile which I believe to be equivalent maybe even the same just rebranded.
On the on5 you must format the ext sd card as internal storage not portable/media. This might have to be done on a pc. Then you must mount
the ext sd card as internal storage and make it adoptable. Samsung blocked this feature on their phones. This allows the phone's os to use the ext sd card for apps etc. I used an app called root essentials to do these steps. Here is an article that describes the issue further. What seems to work is further down where the author of root essentials describes the unrooted process which requires the use of adb. http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...sd-card-as-internal-storage-using-marshmallow
If u get it working , u will have to regularly clean cache and move apps and updates to sd. I use the app2sd tool in a package called android assistant to do the moves.
Your results may vary.
Finally, how much free internal storage do u have now on your amp2? I would like to compare to my on5.
Good luck!

J7 prime use sd card for internal store

Hello everyone
I need your help.
I want to use my sd card as internal memory
but it turns out that in android 8.1 it is very difficult.
I tried adb but it does not recognize the Shell type commands
(try sm force-adaptive)
If someone has a solution and wants to help a noob, comment and help make my life easier.
Thank you for reading
PS: I am not root
You will need root first. Then install Apps2SD and partition sd card to use as internal.
Use the SD card as a data drive not an OS drive!
You got it all backwards.
Even if you can use the SD card like that you'll take a needless performance hit.
Store all critical data, backups etc on the data drive. Leave the downloads on the internal memory until they're vetted malware free before moving to the data drive.
in have j7 prime (rooted and have magisk) i tried everything adb, apps2sd and many more but nothing worked in adb everything is fine but nothing changes on phone i also cant do it on apps2sd please help my devices original internal storage is too little i need to make more storage with my sd card (sorry if my engilsh is bad)
