Oneplus One Rooted ROM? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently have cyanogenmod on my oneplus. I just found out that's been discontinued. What is the current recommended rom for root on the oneplus one?
My mic doesn't work, but I can get it to work by changing the build.prop file. Once I get a new rom installed will I have to update the build.prop file again? Or will the change I've already made remain?

There are many roms outside here for our one+. If you were happy with Cyanogenmod I would suggest any LineAgeOS based rom. This is the succedor of Cyanogenmod and has nearly the same features.
Most roms aren't prerooted. You you have to flash SuperSU or Magisk after flashing the rom. Just pick a rom read carefully the OP (there are always step to step instructions how to flash) and test it.
Your edited build.prop file always gets overwritten while flashing a new rom. So after flashing or updating a rom you have to edit it again.
I hope this helps to start. If there are any further questions, just ask.

I am such a moron. I wiped my device through TWRP. (did advanced wipe and selected Dalvik cache, system, data, and probably internal storage.) So it now has no OS. I went through all the settings on the phone and couldn't find anything. And my laptop isn't recognizing my device so I can't install an OS on it. I tried reinstalling the drivers (through android SDK & baconroot toolkit). I tried different cords & different USB ports on my computer. And have tried reinstalling the drivers. No luck. I am getting ready to try a different laptop, but in the meantime, what options do I have? Are there any other ways to get an OS on my phone? It boots into TWRP and fastboot

Uninstall all the current drivers and minitools you have and install this one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9fZIF6vzIBzT2ZtZkNSVFI5ZHc/view?usp=drivesdk
Comes with Google usb drives, ADB and fastboot.
You can either flash stock COS13.1 from fastboot or copy the zip of a ROM through TWRP with MTP enabled.

Try connecting your phone to computer while on TWRP. MTP is enabled by default on TWRP. So you can copy ROM and Gapps on your SD card and flash it.

I borrowed my husband's laptop for a clean work environment and used this tool. It worked perfectly.
For the rom, I think I'm going to go with Oxygen. Does this os get OTA updates? And if I root and do an update will I still have root or will I have to reroot? The answer to that question, probably answers my next, will I have to remodify my build.prop file if I take an OTA update?

Official Oxygen OS wasn't updated in a year if I remember correctly. If you liked COS you should go with LineageOS.
No need to root again after OTA (only BusyBox will need to be installed again).
build.prop gets overwritten every time so yes you would have to edit it after updating.

[Completed] Can't boot into my Custom ROM

Hi! I just installed a new Custom ROM for my phone. After 5 minutes I wanted to create a backup. So I started ROM Manager. I entered the name, and hit OK. The phone booted into a crashed recovery mode. So I took the battery out and rebooted the phone. It didn't boot into my Custom ROM. It booted into recovery. So I am stuck inside the recovery mode and can't boot normally.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Mini (GT-S5570)
Recovery: CWM Recovery
Custom ROM: CyanogenMod
Hello,
If you can boot into the recovery, do a factory reset and flash back the custom rom. And then reboot the device, once you rebooted the device will boot into system. And then you're done!
Good luck!
HashyCode. :good:
It still puts me into recovery

Hi, i would like help you with this problem as I myself have experienced it. The things that you should have done are:
1. Always make the backup early on before installing the Custom ROM.
2. When installing a Custom ROM, make sure you have not replaced core system apps
3. Make sure your there are complete symlinks in your ROM otherwise it be hard bricked. Ouch.
4. Before installing a Custom ROM, make sure they are from experts, like CyanogenMOD, and sure your device is supported for updates.
5.[Most Important] The only things to wipe when installing a ROM are : 1. Cache 2. Dalvik Cache 3. User Data, never ever ever ever WIPE your system folder with root access on it. This will always ensure that you will reboot into recovery, and it will be annoying to root your device w/o ADB USB Debugging on.
6. Make sure that there are no system apps missing on your Custom ROM, check for the legibility of the Custom apps installed. Are they pirated perhaps?
7.[Very Important]Always watch a video tutorial for it's errors, and search how to Unbrick your device first before proceeding with an installation.
So that if any problem arises, you will be sure to restore it to it's Stock experience.
8.[Absolutely Important]Make sure that your software counterparts on the PC are compatible and functioning well first before you proceed.
Now tell, me which of the following did you not do?
And if this really helped you a lot, please like. For the sake of those who did their research.

Try fastboot?
Hi,
No one seems to have suggested using a program called fastboot. It involves just installing some essential software on a PC, then running the program "Fastboot" along with the desired options.
I strongly suggest trying this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277112
I am always flashing ROMs and then trying to tweak them and end up messing up the bootloaders, or somehow breaking the system. And then i try using CWM or TWRP and still there remain issues. However, fastboot has always done the job for me.
Hope this helps.
Someone help me with my problem please ??

[Q] After flashing no internet access

I had this problem, that I couldn't turn on WIFI. I didn't want to use the internet so flashed lollipop 5.0.1(from 4.4.4). When flashed to 5.0.1 it was rebooting every time the screen locked, so decided to go back to 4.4.4. At first everything was ok, but then the mobile network just stopped to work. I was ok to cope with the disabled wifi, but i really need the phone internet. What should I do? Already tried flashing stock and factory wiping a couple of times, didn't help
The 'tower' of signal strength looks orange, but there's an H on it

I don't get it. I've done it several times already, every time it showed that there is an incompatible version already. maybe the google stock image already contains some gapps?
the only time the install went through was when i just wiped /system and without reflashing rom tried to install the zip
maybe you can do a thorough step by step guide what i have to do? i thought that maybe i had to have root access, but after rooting nothing changed.
Oh, and i can't mount usb through CWM. if i proceed to startup, the device itself installs all the apps

NOTE: Ofc, the factory image has gapps included. Google owns gapps, in case you don't know.
Due to lack of info, I was mislead to think that you was running custom roms, and not a factory image.
The orange colored network indicators simply mean that you're not connected to Google Play services. This would NOT prevent you from accessing the internet on a browser for example - doesn't matter if on wifi or on mobile data - visiting www.google.com.
If you want to get a clean/fresh start, flash a factory image. I assume you know how to, so if you don't go read the guides on General. It's very simple.
That said, after flashing a factory image, and booting it, EVERYTHING should just work: adding your google account, connection to google play services, everything.
If you want to run custom roms, then you'll need a custom recovery (as suggested, TWRP), a custom rom, and an appropriate gapps version. Simple.

Ok, so I should just contact warranty if I got this after flashing stock? I cannot turn on wifi (the problem persisted before flashing) and now I have no internet connection. (I checked all the providers, and I have the right ones set there)
What should I do before I bring it to the warranty service?

[Q] Problem after flashing the new OnePlus Official Lollipop ROM

Hi,
I rooted my OPO a few days ago and installed the unofficial CM12 Lollipop based build using TWRP and everything worked just fine.
Now a few hours ago I downloaded OnePlus' official Lollipop ROM and flashed the recovery after wiping data, cache and dalvik cache. Having done so and booted the phone I went back to recovery to flash Gapps only to realize TWRP wasn't available anymore. The screen showed android's recovery interface with touch disabled. I attempted to install Gapps after copying that to the phone's memory but failed to do so.
When I scroll down using the volume rocker and attempt to "apply update from sdcard" I get an error message saying:
"E:error opening /data/media/0: Permission denied
-- No package file selected. "
Now without Gapps I do not have access to Google Play Services, sync, backup of contacts or even the Play Store.
I tried rooting the phone again, flashing TWRP etc. But no matter how many times I try the phone just won't show TWRP in recovery
So now I'm stuck with a phone without any Gapps and no Play Store from which to download even the most basic apps. APKs can't be installed either because there's no app to open them.
Can anyone help me please?

Are you able to access the phone through ADB or FASTBOOT?

You'll have to install TWRP again using fastboot.
I did the same as you. I used one of the toolkits it can be done quite easily just take your time. You can actually Google Play store apk in the browser and install it.
I'd just open developer options enable debugging and plug the phone in your PC and allow drivers to install.
Then download one of the toolkits and install TWRP your bootloader should still be unlocked.
Once I found the toolkit the other night and installed it I was up and running in minutes.
Solved
Thank you all for the swift replies. I tried flashing TWRP multiple times but couldn't get it done. Then I chanced upon this link in another thread.

It's a zip file from OnePlus which when extracted will give you drivers (I didn't need them) and a ReadMe file that explains how to get the OPO back to just the way it was when you unboxed it. It's incredibly simple and hardly takes any time. After that I was able to easily flash TWRP and root the phone.

Well done.
I know you will note the ROM you flashed is an Alpha ROM. So though 'official', is still very new, as the OP advised.
Fresh ROMs can be a lot of fun to bug hunt, and a lot of time to work through, until the components are ripe, when they have heightened depth, balance, finesse, intensity and end, where the ROM has become pure, vibrant, opulent and mature; a ROM that is seamless.
The dream.

Save time and flash to stock CM11S
For anybody that is stuck in this situation as I was too. Just load the stock CM11S and perform this through fastboot.

OnePlus One - Won't boot RR , boot loop happens

Hi!
A while back I had some issues with the phone, it was when I was supposed to boot it, it always took 2 tries. It always got stuck, then had to long press the lock key to hard reboot it, then it worked fine. This prevented me from doing a factory reset (in hope to fix (what I later found out was) a media rescan etc). Tried to root it, something happened and it wouldn't boot anymore. Yiti yata and the phone wouldn't boot. Finally I got it back to life with some guide on here and I used whatever 4.4.4 I downloaded.
The software wouldn't find any "normal" update phone updates, so I figured I would try Resurrection Remix 7.1.x (.2 I think it was). At first I got just that it failed with some 2.x twrp version. Updated to TWRP 3.1.x.x (3.1.1.0 if I guess). Now I got to know that it was a TZ error (ERROR 7) from TWRP. This happened to my "RR-N-v5.8.3-20170718-bacon-Official.zip" file. I managed to get around it by doing this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762. So I could get this installed, sort of I think. The problem now was that it would show the very first oneplus boot screen for around 20 ish seconds, before it would reboot in a boot loop.
So I tried to install some other CM Lineage Os nightly thing (they said install that and then RR), but that didn't work either. This post was the one I donwloaded from (install this first, then RR should work).
I tried doing this both on TWRP 2.8.6.0 and 3.1.1.0 since I saw some post about the modem not being right from versions newer than 2.8.6.0.
Looking around a bit more I saw in some post someone talking about firmware..? Does this matter anything, also how is this different from the recovery or ROM? (new to this stuff)
In short, last working version of Android I had on there was 4.4.4 (think I followed this post). Using a Mac currently and have no problem with flashing, entering fastboot or recovery.
My procedure when I tried to install RR was:
Install the TWRP 3.1.1.0 or 2.8.6.0 (since I did it several times).
Wipe everything (Have nothing of value on the phone) cache, system, internal storage, dalvik and data. Also did a factory reset (from TWRP) before if that matters.
Copied RR and Gapps 7.1 ARM (not arm64) over.
Installed RR, wiped cache/dalvik. (or linear/cm (post above^^) when I tried that)
Installed Gapps, wiped cache/dalvik.
Boot loop.
Also tried with/without emptying cache/dalvik also chose to install both zips at once.
So can anyone clue in how I can proceed to get RR 7.1 onto my OPO? Any help is very much appreciated
I'm sorry if this wasn't the best post. Have an immense headache at the moment

Calm down.
You're right about that firmware thing, that is the one causing issue when you're trying to flash RR 5.8.3 over KitKat.
This is because the firmware that kitkat comes with,is old and don't support newer android versions, that's because it is made for KitKat only.
Always use latest Twrp(https://dl.twrp.me/bacon/).
Make sure you don't edit any zip like what you did with the Rom zip earlier(devs don't post non-working zips),I'm sure you've a backup of your non-edited zip,if not,re-download the zip.
Now boot into latest twrp, wipe everything except internal storage.
Firmware: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxysuRdzsJeWeW9JbTNwaUJKb1E/view?usp=drivesdk
Flash the above zip, then without wiping anything flash rom zip(unedited) then flash google apps package(opengapps.org)(optional).
Reboot.It should boot fine now.
Good luck!

Calm down.
You're right about that firmware thing, that is the one causing issue when you're trying to flash RR 5.8.3 over KitKat.

Thank you so much! Got it working on 1st try with what you provided! Seems like the firmware thing was the bad guy in this scenario. A little interest, what specifically is the firmware in this case? Either way, rocking RR now and I'm really grateful

I'm glad you got it up and running.
Here are some FAQs:
What is a Firmware? What is Modem?
- Firmware is the whole package of proprietary partitions of your device, modem itself is a NON-HLOS file responsible for your device's communications over Wi-Fi, Mobile Networks and other such stuff.
So what is the difference between firmware and ROM then?
- Firmware is the responsible partition for IMEIs, the modemst partitions hold your IMEI, persist holds your Mac addresses etc.
ROM is only a combination of system.img and boot.img (kernel)
What to restore if I loose my IMEI?
- Both the modemst partitions (IMP: considering you took a backup of them before)
What is the default firmware? (default= firmware which comes with the latest CM/ LineageOS 14.1 weeklies)
- c6-00241
Thanks a lot, once again

I am not 100% sure, but I would say, boot into fastboot, flash something like TWRP recovery, then you will be able to access the device files from the recovery. Just reflashing the boot shouldn't mess up anything as far as I am concerned. After that (when you've grabbed all the files you want), flash the newest firmware the guy linked above and install your latest 7.0 ROM

Yes you do. You need that + some software. Check out some "install custom recovery oneplus one" guides, you should be able to find something. Are you on Mac or Windows?
Yes I'm on Windows 10.. I tried removing battery overnight as well .. its not boiling hot anymore but still stuck in bootloop.

Download the Samsung ADB driver or whatever it was called, then flash a new recovery for it. There are multiple guides for doing that. After that you should be able to transfer your files to your pc while being in recovery mode

Rare problem, expert solution needed

Don't ask me how, I installed wrong Rom on my edge 7, as result, no USB connection.
So can't use Oddin to replace ROM and of course can't root.
Also, all rooting app fails, I guess because they recognize it as a different device.
A part of that the device works great, but I can't do any updates and I have a challenge...
Any ideas?

Without a usb connection you're very limited. Have you tried booting to recovery and factory resetting it?

A factory reset will not help. You need to download the correct rom and flash with twrp. A factory reset only clears data and cache, you need to delete system by installing the correct rom.
If you want to be safe, (make sure the rom you download is on external sd card if you have one) before flashing the rom, go to the wipe section and choose advanced wipe... Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik cache, and internal storage (Only do internal storage if you put the rom on external sd... DO NOT wipe external, or internal if the rom is in internal)

Don't ask how?! How the heck can you flash a different rom unsoported device is like I flash s8 rom on my S7, that's no make sense,
What variant you have? We don't have Cristal balls to find out, did it get into download mode?
If so, install a rom downloaded from sammobile for your phone variant

A. I wish I knew how I did that magic...
B. I wrote all detais about the phone - Well except for country Czech
C. Tried to flash the original ROM, faild
D. I can put it in download mode, but it's not being recognized on PC, so can't use ODIN
tried different PC's Different Cables....
Man in happened to me twice (note 4 and s7 edge) and i was going mad! The problem is just, unfortunately, that your usb port or controller is broken and you need to replace it. I used my note 4 for months, updating via recovery, not being able to connect to any usb source. If you try, USB OTG won't work too because basically the port is not able to carry any data, just charging or fast charging
