Not receiving text messages from non-ATT customers - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Well, this is strange. I'm on ATT and as of 6/15, I no longer can receive texts from non-ATT customers. They just do not show up on my phone. I can send to them but I cannot receive. I sent messages to my brother (Verizon) and he sends me a return text but they never show up. I called ATT and they are telling me it's phone specific. It might be, but what can I do to avoid a master reset?

Pay as you go.

Hi,
I have ATT Pay as you GO service. Its basically a prepaid plan and they send these VERY annoying messages to your phone every time some money is deducted from your plan (eg: phone call, text message, etc) to update you on your current balance. Does anyone know of a way to stop these messages? Its very annoying to get a text message and receive the message from ATT stating your balance and then receive the SMS. on the Cingular 8525 it makes a sound EVERY time that message from ATT arrives. So, I hear a sound which indicates a message from Cingular has arrived then .2 seconds later another sound stating a text message has arrived. There is no way to stop this sound either on the 8525. Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance!

Question about Rogers SMS/MMS to and from USA

ok i have a very specific question. a friend of mine lives in canada. she has the unlimited text msging plan. that however does not include sms/mms from the USA. she can receive them at no charge but she can not send me a text without getting hit with a charge. i am assuming this is the same with MMS. i sent her an MMS (THROUGH MY MAC) and she was prompted with a screen that said she needs to activate email to sms for free. remember, this MMS came from my computer (yes in the states) so my question is this. If she replies to this message, will she get charged? The message, when she replies, goes straight to my email. will the system know that she is MMSing to a USA email. is it coming the message coming as a MMS or SMS? yes its showing on my mac, but i dunno if its considered a mms or sms. can someone help me out or point me in the right directions. im sure if i call them ill get a technologically illiterate who wont be able to answer, no offense to canada, just saying in general. thanks!!

[Q] Not able to Send or Receive Text

For some reason I stopped being able to send or receive messages since yesterday. The message sends out and there is no errors but the person does not receive the text. If someone send the text to me I don't receive the text either.
On the AT&T usage data says I did not use any of my unlimited text message plan.
I did recently change my messaging plan from a family unlimited messaging to individual.
My SMS center number is +13123149810
APN is set to default
I am currently on 2.11.26 ICS MIUI build
Any idea what the problem is? Phone problem? AT&T's problem?
Update: Called AT&T they somehow fixed the problem

[issue] Can't Send Text Message Pics

I don't know why my phone is so wacked out...but now I can not send Pics in Text Messages. It trys to send but just gets stuck on "sending". Any suggestions?
Maybe try toggling your data connection off/on. Or, sent out a regular SMS. Sometimes that will help push em thru. I've had issues sometimes where they'll hang like that until I receive a text, then they push thru, but only on certain ROMs.
Hope this helps at all.
sent from 2yr old Evo on ICS
I had the same problem before, then I learned that my data had to be on in order to send or receive messages through text messages. I'm not sure if this is because of my carrier or if that's just how it is.
Won't work over Wifi, which seems kind of silly.
You need to have the data on to send MMS (picture messages) the carriers do not generally count that against the data you use.

Does anyone else have issues with other people receiving their long text/MMS messages

People rarely if ever receive long text messages (which I believe are sent as MMS) or MMS messages I send with pictures. I'm on AT&T. The messages show as sent but people aren't getting them 99% of the time, no matter what carrier or phone they use. Is this AT&T screwing me over or something wrong with OOS?
