Mate 9 is a beast has it is.

I know but emui is just bad

I wouldn't even install aosp. Phone is awesome as is. If you want custom ROMs you should switch to another phone right now because honestly you will not be satisfied with this phone if that's a main concern. You're welcome.

Oh yes install aosp will be great. I wish developers will give us this choice. A pure rom will be awesome with this phone.

pure rom and lose all features? Anyone may care but I dont care. If you need pure rom, buy OP3T instead, not this one.

No keeping some features on a Lineage OS ROM. I like to change rom and switch between different roms it's something that i lose when i've bought this phone. Like you i love this phone but some changes don't kill!...

[Q] Why is the development so less?

Basically that's up to developers not users .
All i can see is not much to develop for this model .

Perfect the way it is. Can't fix that.
The point of developing is to perfect the rom from the users viewpoint.
The Note is a pretty good user experience out of the box. There weren't too many complaints about ICS until JB came along and only Germany N8000 users got it...
For most things stock rom is good enough, root it and even better. Custom roms at this point are just "because we can", though there are a few mods and tweaks that improve things, just depends whether you can live with the trade-offs...
I agree. Mine already had JB when I bought it. All I did was unlock and root it. I have tried a few other ROMS, but keep going back to stock (and I'm a guy who puts custom ROMS on everything)!!!
a couple of rom makers told me and i think even xda said that the device its self isnt very popular...it really sucks man i love my note... i wish their was more development
All you have to do then is start developing
Or start a major ad campaign promoting the Note 10.1.... Sell enough and you might find devs happier to make roms.
Or if, you really want to entice the devs, buy them a note 10.1 on the stipulation that they share any roms they create...
it's lacking kernel options by alot
also, just one cm rom with semi broken pie
would love to see paranoid androind and their new work with halo

There is no point developing for a tablet that with just root and the slight overclock runs as good as you could want on current technology. The stock rom and minor tweaks are so satisfactory there just is no demand.
Once more i just don't see what development can bring to this tablet .
But some people just want to flash roms good bad or useless its a well known syndrome
usually cured by a woman .
jje
Not necessarily... I know a lot of girls who love flashing their phones /tablet roms too, most of which I have the pride to say I introduced to the world of XDA....
(I had to word that carefully or it might've looked REALLY bad...)
paranoid android? halo?
since ive bought my nex4, ive been using it..
its not rom but the features are plain as ****..
except for s-**** but i hate that
would love to see a proper PA rom with working pie on this tab..
honestly, thats the only rom i want..
CM doesn't have pie mode.. jus the pie control.. so regardless of extended desktop, the pie works which is annoying
REVOLT has other issues, laggy and new.. feels like a port..

To ROM/kernel devs.

I have a question but yet a request to ROM and kernel developers.
I came here from the HTC First community, which has a descent size user base but base no Dev support, literally none. And I was wondering if anyone could take a look and see what they can do. If you can't, that's fine, but its a great device with lots of prospects if someone could get a custom ROM up and running. At least give it a look guys.
Much thanks from the whole HTC First community.
It's that bad over there huh? It runs near stock Android, right? Just use Xposed framework and set it up how you like it. That's what I would do, even if there were 100 custom ROMs available.
Nobody is going to build for a device they don't own, unless they have an extremely good reason to do so. When one builds a ROM and/or kernel, they build it to their liking - impossible if you don't even own the device.

Yup, and considering only 5 people ever bought that phone... what are the chances of one of them being a developer? Apparently zero.

There was one, then he mysteriously vanished, he almost got cm11 working but...
Anyways. Thanks for the response. Maybe someone will maybe someone won't. No pressure.

That's a pretty crappy rationalization. Just cause you can do that with 4.4 people still want 5.0 right? Yeah. Keep talking lol

Our point still stands. Asking in the Nexus 5 section won't change anything since nobody will develop for a device they don't have/care about.
If the people there want 5.0 that badly, maybe one of them should step up and do it.

You made no mention of wanting 5.0 in the OP, you just said custom ROMs. I simply offered an alternative. Xposed is awesome, and you can use it to add a crap ton of features to the stock ROM.

That's what I used on my First. Xposed rocks! And no I just mentioned any custom ROM or kernel.
Yep, I think it's the single greatest Android mod ever conceived. Both of my Android phones have Lollipop available to them, yet both are staying on KitKat and Xposed is the primary reason why.

Will xiaomi mi mix 2 roms work on 2s?

I haven't gotten my phone yet ordered it Saturday shipped today so 3 weeks I wait. As I wait I was wondering if the roms that are available on the 2 would work for the 2S and vice versa? (I have the 2s coming) I heard mostly same hardware just different cameras and wireless charging not sure much more has changed. Thanks for your input can't wait to root this phone and use it daily
No they wont work. However most of the project treble Roms work for our phone
Nope - use the available MiMix2s ROMS
Thanks to both of you I'll look into Project Treble Roms when I get the phone. I want the phone to function as intended and have root and a decent skin from the looks I'm not liking miui maybe i'll change my mind when i get it. Probably use Nova launcher but will want to root it anyway so thanks for your help.

I've had the most success with the Benzo Treble ROM, but I've heard others talk about Arrow, Havoc and Pixel Experience.

You won't! Trust me!
I'm dreaming of a pixel experience pie rom. This would fit my needs the best. I don't really need all the customisation some of the roms offer although I must admit they are great and the ideas behind them are really cool.
The treble roms are pretty stable by now and daily driver ready IMHO but the MiMix2S isn't very popular as it seems so not too many devs out there building for this device. Maybe this will change in the future, until then I'll stick with the benzo and pixel experience roms.
I agree
Miui should die
I don't agree with you both I owned a 1+1 for more than 3 years and flashed a new rom every month or even more often. When I got the Mi Mix 2s I had to use it with miui for 2 weeks because of bootloader unlocking time(this is the most stupid thing I ever encountered). I'm on miui since then because I LOVE the gesture control and mostly it just works. As soon as we got a rom with gcam that supports slowo videos I will flash an aosp based rom too to test it but to say MIUI should die or he will hate it is too much. It's working fine and is full of features.

I think it depends on your individual needs and what you expect from a rom.
I too think that miui should die. Xiaomi is producing great devices regarding the hardware. But if you force your customers into using your own ROM (even if it is only the bootloader unlocking time) then this should work perfectly fine and fluid. Read the comments section in the miui forums or here on XDA. It's full of bugs. Every time they release a new version something else is broken.
If I'd like the look of iOS so much I'd get an iPhone. It's neither looking original nor behaving like a finished ROM. For me it felt like a developer version. So many bugs and not even the simplest features worked correctly.
I couldn't care less for navigation gestures or slowmo video (although this is really a nice feature), but I'd like to have working Bluetooth hands free, stable network connections and the possibility to connect to an airports WiFi. None of this worked with miui. At least not for me. And that's the reason I switched ASAP to a GSI. Those were the longest 15 days of my life.
Of course the 8.1 versions worked much better as Pie was just released and many things had to be sorted out. But some of the Devs here did a much better job in developing stable and well functioning roms than the miui team.
So in my opinion MIUI should just die or at least they should reduce the stolen/copied functions and concentrate on the main features and make them perfect.
To me it seems they concentrate more on the looks of their OS than the functionality.
But I don't want to start a debate of principles. If you like it use it, I will never return to this abnormality of an OS.
Whats this about waiting 15 days or 10 days for unlocking bootloader? Going to do some googling about it but figured I'd ask that sounds annoying if its the case.

Yes it is and you can't do anything about it. It's Xiaomi's way to prevent their phones from being delivered with malware infested roms as it's too much of a hassle for the shops to unlock and install it.
I hated it too. You're lucky that it's only 15 days and not 720hrs like some have.
I don't understand it because if you get the phone with a not certified or custom ROM from a shop that looks suspicious you could simply install the original Xiaomi firmware without the headache.

Well that's the ones that know a lot more about phones. I can see how this makes sense well guess I'll have to test out xiaomi's rom for the duration. The phones expected delivery is Friday but only a state away so hoping FedEx will be nice and deliver it a couple days early lol.

In the meantime you can set up your Xiaomi account as you will need it for unlocking you phone anyway and request the unlock permission.
As soon as you get the device, bind the account to your phone so the time starts counting down immediately. Then it's only 15 grueling days using MIUI but then there's a whole lot of roms which make the device what it should have been from the start. A stable, fast, reliable and good device!

Best custom ROM for 8t

Hi , i stopped changing Rom when I bought the 8t coming from 6t , but now I am bored and I'd like to try a new rom , which is the best custom ROM for 8t ?
Most important things for me :
Stable and fast ( fingerprint also fast)
Good camera (like stock one )
Good battery
Thanks if someone wants to share their experience on multiple custom roms I'd be glad
Of course rom choice is a individual preference but mine is AICP. Good stable, smooth with a few customizations. Can be used with a couple of the custom kernels out there. Not strictly Pixel based. Updated weekly for all devices supported.

had the same thoughts this friday and spend the weekend trying ROMs and twrp
long story short - stock is better for this phone
I was using custom ROMs for years on different phones (starting OnePlus One and Cyanogen mod by Sultanxda), so I know exactly how a good custom ROM feels and works
for this particular model I'm kind of disappointed and "forced" to go back to stock
off course, you can say that you don't use autobrightness or you are ok with how the fingerprint works (or don't use other stuff I've noticed), but for me stock is much better in a daily driver perspective
if you are really bored and have enough free time, it's better to try yourself and make your own opinion about it
only problem is that the stock rom is less trustworthy than even having google up your phones you-know-what

Question Plan to get a new Pixel 7 Pro

Hi all
I plan to get a Pixel 7 Pro pretty soon.
Decided to go for it as the added telephoto lens could be useful even if I don't take photos much. How has the camera been in your expereince?
I also plan to use custom ROM on it. Have any suggestions for those? I may want to use Google Pay with it. Graphine does seem nice for the privacy angle though
P7P has one of the best cameras on the market no doubt.
Stock firmware is missing nothing, for anything else there is aosp mods.
I dont know of any custom rom that will not let you use gpay.
I dont like the battery drain of the p7p but i dont know any phone where i like it tbh.

I was exploring Graphine but I keep hearing it won't let you do Google Pay.
I don't mind running stock but custom rom. What would you suggest besides Graphine?
Don't care for root stuff atm
Just want to use the phone

Yeah I always wondered why one would use a custom ROM on the best android phone in the world when it comes to software pixel exclusives.
I've stated this many times but using other devices I needed root and custom ROMs to keep the device going past the original manufacturer life cycle, in these days a new phone comes out every 9 months.
Pixel/Nexus/Samsung/Google keeps the devices software updated at least 3 years.
Security is priority for me should be for everyone..
Lastly, I want to root just to install a custom kernel but always running stock android on Pixels.
I haven't seen or heard any one say a custom ROM ran better in three years than stock pixel.
After Google drops support then custom ROMs are needed imo...

Keep those and add a bit. I really would hate to lack network monitor, skip track for music, and battery being a circle. Why does google not do this? The code is out and open, they just would have to merge.

Stock is fine, those features I referred to are not in stock though. You can root and use AOSPmods or something to get features, but I feel a custom rom with the features you want integrated is always the better choice. There is a thread about custom roms you could take a look at.
Mint has a deal for the 7pro. $689, 12 month service with 6 months free. I saw somewhere when researching about a Japan version being received by some ppl. I am on T-Mobile and tested mint on my tablet. No difference or issues I could see. Just a bit concerned with the model they have. Looking around I didn't see anyone else this low. I can do the mint deal @ $58 a month, get a Pixel phone and come out cheaper cause T-Mobile is $70 a month. really a no brainier, and I have wanted a Pixel phone for last 2 phones but couldn't handle the price. So anyone have an issue w getting a foreign model and mint mobile?

Custom ROMs
Hey all the custom ROMers here. I hope you all are doing great. What ROM you are currently running on your P7/P7P and why? I'm pretty new to android root scene and looking forward to install custom ROM on my P7. Any answers would be appreciated!!
