Bootloop after SU install - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Greetings,
i tried to root my Honor 8 yesterday and it worked pretty well until the last bootup after i installed SU.
When the honor letters come onscreen the phone shuts off and puts me straight into eRecovery without me pressing anything.
I tried different versions of SU aswell as TWRP. I tried different combinations and numerous times.
It all works again after a factory reset but it itsn rooted then obviously; this problem always occurs right after the SU installation on the following startup, so im not able to boot up my phone.
Its the FRD-L09 model with latest Nougat and Emui version, i do not use a modified Rom yet as my phone is pretty new (like last week new), this is my first attempt on rooting a huawei phone as i only used sony the past 6 years.
I hope anybody could help me out there
Sorry for my bad english and thx in advance :good:

Currently Stock, wich is FRD-L09C432B380

i currently can because i did a factory reset this morning to use my phone during the day.
As soon as i flash supersu it apperantly bricks my phone. I tried different version of it aswell as the latest one, from offical sources of course.

YOG4PAS2QL bricks my OPO

Hi
Since updating my OPO to YOG4PAS1N0 I couldn't reboot my OPO. Since the last update it won't even boot any more. I've reflashed to stock 4.4.4, installed every update and had the same issue. I even tried to flash the zip true recovery, but i got an error while doing it. So, after three times of updating, I'm back to square one.
After going back to stock I have to factory reset in recovery, otherwise the OPO won't boot.
But of course I'd like to install Lollipop (and later Marshmallow). What can I do? I have a Mac with OSX 10.11 and a laptop with Windows 7, so I'm able to use both.
I did the flashing on my Macbook with the Toolkit found here. But I don't think there's an issue with this, as it uses the terminal. It's just easier then to type it all myself
Thanks in advance.

It'd help if you actually posted what errors you're getting, without information like that it's virtually impossible to troubleshoot. Anyway, your best bet is probably just to flash the stock images with fastboot. Back up anything important first as this will wipe your device. See section 8 of my guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guides-bacon-timmaaas-how-to-guides-t2839471
The only error I got, was that it's impossible to boot. I'll try your guide asap

I unlocked the bootloader.
I installed the latest fastboot image.
Now my OPO is stuck again at the 1+ / Powered by Android-screen. I can't boot into recovery, but fastboot mode is still possible.
Everything up to cm-12.0-YNG1TAS2XK-bacon-signed-fastboot seems to work fine.

Assuming that you want to upgrade your OPO to latest available version of Cyanogen
- Flash latest *fastboot* image from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/official-cm11s-roms-ota-updates-t2906746
- If you have already tried above step, flash cm-12.0-YNG1TAS2I3-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip and then upgrade via OTA incremental update zip

I've tried the first, didn't work. I've tried flashing 11S and started upgrading. I didn't have issues until 12.0. When I got to 12.1 I couldn't reboot (but I could shut down and boot). With the latest update I couldn't even boot normally.
Anyone has some idea?

Not sure if its a language barrier but first of you are going to have to supply more information than that. Secondly what have you tried to fix it and especially since there are tutorial out the waaaaahzooo in here on how to repair your "bricked" phone.
Please research make some attempts and if any issue please document in full what your issue is. I guarantee you though whatever it is someone here has gone through it already so search thorough

What I have tried is on page 1 of this thread.
I tried to install 4.4.4 with a flashable zip and then installed all updates. I installed the 5.1.1 zip. I installed the fastboot 5.1.1 and 4.4.4 and installed all updates.
Now I'm on 5.0.
On the last update I couldn't update reboot or boot anymore. The update before that I couldn't reboot, bu I could boot.

H91810i rooted with recowvery!

The latest update, it seems, can be rooted using the recowvery method. Dirtycow was patched by Google in a Dec. 5 security patch, but it seems LG didn't include that in their latest security update, which was created Dec 1! In any case, my phone is rooted with TWRP, and working just fine. So, for now we can still root with the update! I'd also like to point out, that this means we now have an official KDZ released version of rootable stock to roll-back to with LGUP!
Glad I forced ya to do it huh

I was on 10i last week after i got phone back from service. I flashed NotSoStock Rom which said i was on the 10d base. Then flashed Overdrive Rom which put me back to 10i. I didnt have any problems switching basebands within custom roms if that helps.

whats your phone model L04 - L02 - L??
what was the last software version you had working
You need to download a full update package for your device from Huawei's website, unpack UPDATE.APP into a folder on an external SD card named /dload/ ("/dload/UPDATE.APP"). Get a stock recovery image for your model and firmware, plug into computer after setting up ADB and fastboot, "fastboot reboot bootloader". In bootloader with RECOVERY.IMG in the same folder as ADB and fastboot, "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". Power off phone, hold down vol up + vol down + power until you see the phone update dialog, then release, and all will go back to normal.

I was stuck with the same issue. What worked for me was
1. Unlock the Bootloader
2. Flash the rollback package (got me working eRecovery)
3. Reboot
4. Flash the Marshmallow Full OTA
5. Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition

Now, I could go back to Marshmallow B130. But, no way forward to upgrade to Nougat. Downloading any version (B140, B150, B161) from Firmware finder results in same problem. (No Keyboard, No Factory Reset, testkeys build)
Now I have downloaded 2 FOTA zip file from hicloud
1. UPDATE.ZIP
2. update_data_full_FRD-L02_channel_in
Now, how should I proceed?

My boot.img provided in repository thread is for BLN-L21C432B365 build, as listed in OP and in my post there; what's your build number? An unmatching build could be the cause of this. For example, recovery for BLN-L21C432B365, differs from BLL-L21C130B365 - the B365 at the end is equal, but the build variant is different and so incompatible

How to update FRDL09 Honor 8 to Oreo 8.0.0.521 FRD-L09C432B521

Hi I just saw the update 8.0.0.521 FRD-L09C432B521 is available in Firmware finder android app
I tried to use the method, I used before to update my rooted phone, flashing stock recovery first, but it s not working :
-Classic OTA (no firmware finder ) cant find it
-firmware finder proxy method, I got a "checksum control error at the beginning of the 1.16GO OTA download
I actually have B406 installed
I check the 3 "FullOta-MF-PV" available in firmware finder, but there are "not approved for installation"
Is there a way to bypass and install anyway, or should I just wait for another update to be usable?
Thanks

DONT, I Tried To Use HurUpdater To Get Oreo Early Even If Its Not Approved, I Got Bricked, I Was Stuck At A Fastboot Error Screen, My Bootloader Was Still Unlocked Because I Put Another Custom Recovery With HurUpdater. So I Booted To ER Recovery And It Looked Different, It Looked Much Better Than The Android 7 ER Recovery. Then Next In Order To Get Out Of This Brick, I Pressed The Button To Dowbload Latest Firmware And Recovery And It Worked!! Usually That Does Not Work With Android 7 ER Recovery. So I Typed In My Wifi Password And It Installed And Removed Everything, So I Was Back At B406 FRD-L09C432. But I Had An "Appdata" Back up in twrp before i did this. Then I Got All My Data Back (Apps, Saves On Games, Even My Settings Were Back From The Appdata Backup From That TWRP Appdata Backup)

I think we all should wait for official update. If the firmware is on Firmware Finder, it means that the official update is very soon. We need to be a little bit more patient.

IMHO, you have to understand that modifying anything from stock room (root, bootloader...) will prevent you to get any official update easily.
By rooting, you chose this.

@SuperSwordSmasher Please stop using capital letters at the beggining of each word [emoji33]
I have Oreo witch HurUpdater and work fine.
The best way to upgrade to Oreo is to use method 2 with root on this guide :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-flashing-unapproved-firmwares-t3668306
Assuming that you're on Nougat and Oreo is available for your region (or you already rebranded).
If the phone doesn't boot, go to recovery and wipe data.
Then use multitool v8 to install emui 8 compatible recovery, it's not perfect but Magisk can be installed (but uninstaller doesn't work ... Be careful with the modules you use ?)
I received and install B407 Today, stock usual OTA way... Maybe B521 soon..

For Some Reason When I Try To Do Method 2 And Did All The Steps And Tryed To Flash With ER Recovery, I Get An Error In ER Recovery And Send Me Back. I Already Did The Steps, Even The Terminal Thing Too, But, It Just Wont Work Each Time I Try
I Have A Question, Does Nougat AppData Backup Work On Oreo?
