How to Enable VoLTE - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

Hi guys. Just now received the XZP and I'm very excited about it. I want to know whether this mobile support volte. If it supports, then how can I enable it? There is not any options to enable it. I brought this mobile in dubai and I am using it in india. Here a network named jio supports volte. So could you please help me guys? How to enable it?

Dual sim or single sim?
It supports VoLTE in various regions and providers.
With single sim version i do not see Indian providers in modem configuration list and no Indian region firmware.
If you have dual sim model, then maybe you have luck with flashing Indian firmware https://xpericheck.com/cda/1308-6241 (i hope my assumption is correct that Customised IN refers to India)
I have not digged into dual sim firmware yet, so cannot guarantee it for you.
Please use search in XZ and other sony forums to know how flashing sony firmwares works. Too long and complicated to write it out here.
Also, ask from JIO if they plan adding support for XZ Premium. This will indicate if you would get VoLTE with Indian region firmware.

Yes I am using the dual sim version. Is there no other way I can enable it without flashing the firmware? Or should I wait for the next OTA update?

Flashing the correct region firmware is the simplest solution.
Also currently there is no other known method.
If you have UAE region firmware then OTA update will not enable VoLTE for other regions.
I have now checked the firmware that i previously shared. There is special modem configurations in DS for Indian providers...

amss_fsg_maple_dsds_reliance_com_in_ims_tar.mbn
amss_fsg_maple_dsds_reliance_jio_in_ims_tar.mbn
Also the oem bit will tell phone which configuration to load.
So i think you would be good to get VoLTE if you flash https://xpericheck.com/cda/1308-6241

3 UK firmware flashing options...

I have an XZ Premium (G8141) from the 3UK network. I want to use it in the US, likely as a WiFi only device. I want to flash the firmware to remove the 3UK branding. Trying to decide the best option. I don't really care about the fingerprint sensor working or not. If I did decide to use it on a mobile network it would be TMobile US.
I downloaded XperiFirm and for the G8141 there are a number of "Customized" options. If I went this way I imagine I would go with the Customized CE1 or UK version right? That would remove network customization and be a stock Sony firmware?
In the G8142 section there is a Customized US firmware. Is flashing this an option to get a US based firmware? What would be the negative side of doing this?
I appreciate any input. Thank you!

The only difference between the two customised versions is that the US one will have the fingerprint reader disabled.
Any customised firmware build will work, removing the 3UK logo, but avoid the US version if you use fingerprint unlock
Thank you for the response! Another question, are the Customized firmwares official Sony ones?

Hi. Is there any custom roms that give dual sim support or one that contains firmware from dual sim version i can flash 5g version. As it does have two set of sim pins and also 2 modem do must me firmware issue
Any ideas
I'm pretty certain the hardware can't do dual SIM.
None of the specs available ever show dual SIM support in any of the 5G variants, so I think there IS a hardware restriction on this.

Looking at your model number, you have HK varient which won't support VOLTE if you are trying to use in EU.

Why on earth would VOLTE be locked out of a region? I also have the international model XQ-AS72 and am in Australia so is this why I can't seem to see VOLTE setting as well?
Edit: also how do you view the information you've posted?
Bump
Also this code gets into the screen I was after.
*#*#4636#*#*
I have the exact issue with the model. Not able to turn on Volte. Bought it from Hong Kong and using it on indian bands. Why is this happening? Is there a fix?
It's pretty **** we have this issue. Thanks Sony....nice job.
In US version XQ-AS62 there is an option to enable VoLTE from Mobile network.
As far as I know sometimes SIM companies block VoLTE as on my Xperia X Dual, I was able to use VoLTE in India on Jio but here in US T Mobile blocked it so no option of VoLTE even though phone had support. However on Xperia 5 II it's available and works.
Did you get Volte on Xperia 5 ii in India?
Did you try it on Airtel and jio?
Can you please provide the firmware version of your xperia 5 ii.
I have xperia 1 ii model XQAT52 and I don't get Volte in India on this device.

I am currently in US so can't check it and firmware version is 58.1.A.3.87 but VoLTE is supported out of box.
VOLTE requires the cell provider to provision for it in the firmware of your device. VOLTE will not work for a USA provider if you use a phone made for a different market like hongkong because the firmware doesnt expect it. You can blame the cell providers for this.
Different versions of Xperia 5ii
I found there are 3 different versions of Xperia 5ii. XQ-AS52, XQ-AS62, XQ-AS72 Anyone know the differences on these three models?

Nope, I am using T-Mobile and Wi-Fi calling is not supported(no option in settings), even *#*#4636#*#* menu shows Wifi Calling Provisioned toggle disabled and Off (VoLTE Provisioned is disabled and On)

Question Does dual SIM use the same firmware as single SIM S21+?

I got an S21+ with CSC of ACR, and I want to flash it to Android 12 with the BTU CSC so that I can get OTA updates. However, the ROM I found is for G996B whereas my device model is G996B/DS. The only difference between these two is that /DS is dual SIM.
Are there any additional precautions/measures I should take?
This is my first time flashing and I'm really paranoid haha. Thanks in advance!
I have confirmed that the answer is yes. G996B firmware is compatible with G996B/DS. Dual SIM functionality still works.

Question Flip 3 5G F711U1; XAA => INU

I have got a Samsung Flip3 US unlocked version. Have been using it outside US with and Indian SIM card from last few months without any hiccups. With Samsung Pay working as well.
Now, with the release of 5G services here in India, I'm not sure the bands that Indian operators use are unlocked or not in this. Jio (Indian service provider) says that you're using a non-5G device.
So, I was wondering if I flash an INU firmware to my device. Will it unlock the bands and also let me get OTAs from Samsung? Maybe if someone here did this already?
(According to Jio, this phone is compatible with their 5G network. Also, checked on gsmarena, the international version has the bands that JIO supports.) Since the chipset in international and US is same, I suppose the bands are already there in the device.
Thanks in advance for your help and comments.
Hi Jatin, I don't think flashing your US flip 3 with IND firmware, will fix your problem. The IND firmware is for the F711B model, you are on the F711U1 model. I would not try that. A lot of the F7711B firmware are multi-CSC, but not for the U1 model.
Thanks for the reply, @slysurfer.
I was thinking that since both F711B and F711U1 share the same chipset (Snapdragon 888), the F711B firmware drivers will work on F711U1.
I read some other posts in here (on XDA itself) in which someone with an EUX variant flashed INU firmware to it. Not sure the EUX variant is multi-CSC or not.

Yes, the EUX variant is multi-CSC (to a degree) I can flash any firmware from Europe to South East Asia, but as mentioned we can't flash any firmware from US/Canada.
Big >IF< you can OEM unlock the bootloader you can install twrp and disable the vbmeta and flash a U firmware over a U1 phone and visa versa. But even if you can do all of that it probably still won't work. Personally I'd take it to my local mobile phone stall and see if they can do it.
Thankyou @beanbean50 for your answers.
Sorry for the noob question, . Earlier when Samsung used to release 2 different hardware versions of the same phone like one with Exynos and other with Snapdragon, flashing the other region ROM was not possible.
So, I was just wondering, since both the regions (US & South East Asia) has the exactly same hardware, the networks bands in both of these must only be software locked. Thus, since the US version already has the hardware, can't simply flashing a different region ROM should work.
Again, if there are some other locks that prevent this, it's not possible to flash. Just like if on paper both devices are same, the only difference they have is, they are released in different region.
Also, I checked, both are also manufactured in the Vietnam.

There is not OEM unlocking in under developer options. I have through other posts and things on how to unlock. I suppose it can't be unlocked in a straightforward like F711B can be.
I suppose this is the hard-stop that cleared my doubts.
Thanks one again, @beanbean50 for your time and answers. Really appreciated!!
P.S.: If you or someone you know have some experience unlocking a US snapdragon Samsung device bootloader, please do share. I might have to consider unlocking bootloader in the future.
