I also have the popular microphone issue in my Nexus 5, the person i am calling complains of low or distant voice.
I have looked over for solutions but haven't found any that are a definite fix.
I'v tried covering the secondary mic, using apps to enhance mic volume, use safe mode to determine any app interference but nothing so far has helped. Using a headset or using speakerphone to call everytime is not a sufficient solution.
Finally i am asking here if there is any other fix available that i have missed in my search?
Can flashing a custom rom solve this problem? or is there a patch or mod available that can help?
P.S. I am running the latest android version so please don't suggest me to update.

I will look into this but i am not sure its a very good fix, its kind of a trade off though.
The first procedure sounds easy enough to do however the second one is kinda impossible, cos you need to understand qualcomm's internal coding to make any changes to help solve the problem.
Lets see if someone else can suggest any other fix.
I am hoping someone would say that he flashed a particular custom rom and the thing works fine with it.
Any other suggestions?

I thought call recorder is made by people from xda but nevermind. I really wonder why did it work on earlier version of android.
buy Total Recall from playstore.. It's very good and stable in recording voice call In and Out...
Make sure you purchase it to unlock the full feature and unlimited recording time. Worked in all Lollipop versions.
There is only one worth getting. Its £8 and record off the line. I have it and it works perfectly with kk, and all the ? updates. I'd get that. The Dev is very helpful and will sort issues out within the hour it uses CAF method but will use others. Most, even paid use the speaker.

i really want to buy mate 8 and i love it but i'm afraid from one thing i'm a user that root his phone and use xposed and flash roms
my question is rooting and xposed will work on this phone without problems?
and i think for mate 8 there is no number of custom roms
it is nornal that the phone is new but my question is like after 2 years when the phone stop to recieve update it will be a custom rom for it ? like Cyanogen?
Root yes ,xposed not working, stock ROM is very good with Google now launcher
I don't believe that CM is making ROMs for Mate 8
Sent from my HUAWEI NXT-L29 using Tapatalk
Root works, xposed works, no cm ROM in sight but delete a bunch of bloat apps, replace them with Google apps instead, and use layers manager along with theme app for a very close to aosp ROM feel
Have to say, was very anxious to find out how Emui would be in practice. If it would be bloated, ugly, overkill, etc.
But now, after using the device for a few days, can honestly say that I wouldn't want it to be any other way! The amount of things you can change, set or extract techy data from is enormous. Don't want stock Android anymore. Don't want CM13. This is it. Emui rulez! :good:
It's fast, smooth, does it all. No regrets. Can't / won't downgrade to stock/ AOSP / CM

Mine doesn't even get warm. There are no dots on the screen either. Having a large battery makes it charge a little slower but mine charges fast if I use the original ac adapter and cable.

Hello everybody, I was wondering if someone could tell me the best mate8 model to buy I will be using it in the usa. I'm using the mate2 now and it is a solid mid-ranger. I have unlocked the bootloader and have cm13 running on it now. I would appreciate your suggestions on the mate8 models and why you pick it. Thanks..
I'm interested in buying a Mate 8 and I was wondering if you can shoot RAW pictures using the Mate 8?
I know that it has a "Pro Mode" option but I can't find any videos online showing a full indept review of that feature, so could anyone explain/elaborate on that?
Many thanks in advance!

Most Raw-capable camera apps you can download from the Play Store won't work as well due to crap implementation on Huawei's side:
Shame, really.

If you wish to buy a Huawei phone and need RAW image files, you have to wait for the release of P9 (April 16th) or P9 Plus (May 20th) that both offer this functionality.
Thank you guys for the reply.
That's really sad to hear then. My LG G4 recently died on me with the infamous boot loop problem and I can't get it fixed anytime soon. I might wait for reviews of the new P9 but I do like the Mate 8 as well though. I'd just have to sacrifice RAW function then =/

It's not only a matter of RAW vs non-RAW... P9/P9 Plus dual camera has been yet tested by some reviewers and defined a significant step forward compared to Mate 8 (but still worse than Samsung S7).

You are right, there's more to it than just RAW, but having RAW function is usually beneficial as you can process the picture later and not rely solely on the phone's image processor. Although if the phone's image processor is good to begin with then you shouldn't need RAW.
My G4 had RAW and I quite liked it, managed to get some good shots during my holiday before it died on me(luckily it died after my vacation was over, lol).

camera test
Will you please try downloading gcam and see how it takes pictures with gcam? both using HDR+ and regular.
GCam is the camera app from the pixel phones. there are versions of it for different phones (unofficially) here in xda.
I want to see how different the pictures are. i heard that they were using the S7 Edge camera sensor. that leads me to believe that the camera is potentially not bad. Basically that would be a win for all of us if true. will you put that to the test? thanks man. also i was looking to buy it to root as well but im not sure if you are up to go that far but if you do, let me know how it goes. thank you very much!

IMHO,a resounding NO........
The display is plenty bright, adjust to your liking.
Adaptive lighting/auto brightness,I have both turned off.
I have yet to use a phone that suits me using either, always being too dim, this one is no different.
Crank it up to your liking manually & it's more than bright enough, with plenty to spare.
No phone is going to be as clear/bright/legible outdoors vs indoors.
From my experience/usage with many, many phones, there's negligible,if any, difference under sunlit/outdoor conditions from one phone to the next.
I'm sure you could detect negligible differences in a side-by-side comparison, but, that's not real-world usage, just for the bloggers/websites to have something to talk about.......
Rest assured, the screen is plenty bright,go ahead & dive in..................... :good:

Is there no one who can optimize Snapchat for our Honor 8? The H8 has a great camera and it's sad to see Snapchat not getting everything out of it. Is there any developer here who can do something about it? I know my best option would be contacting Snapchat but I doubt they will do something about it.

According to Snapchat their app has issues on the Android platform itself. Snapchat is planning to rewrite the Android app for the platform. This is what happens when you're not OS agnostic.
Currently, I doubt anything can be done about it since Snapchat is a closed source app. Unless, of course, some of the Jedi hackers on XDA are able to optimize it with the power of The Force.

Snapchat is rubbish anyway.
The thing is on Android because of the different kinds of hardware snapchat uses this bizzare way of optimising per device. It limits the resolution of the video or photo taken to the resolution of the screen. So for instance even if I had a high end phone with the best camera but with a 720 or 1080p display and my friend has a mid range phone with a 1440p display he'll definitely have great quality. The Honor 8 usually takes photos at a much higher resolution and snapchat just doesn't let it do so.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
Some Samsung are making good photos even with Snapchat on zoom per example but with my Honor 8 if I zoom something it sucks
I don't use SnapChat, but everything I've heard about it indicates the programmers of the Android version were lazy and just take screenshots while the camera is on instead of actually using the camera to take the picture. That's why the resolution sucks and you get such poor quality when you zoom in. It is not a full resolution picture.
However, the weird spinning issue you have is likely due to the Honor 8's jacked up gyroscope. We can't use VR apps because of it. It seems to affect 100% of Honor 8's yet no update is coming to fix it. Not a high enough priority, I guess.
I read that Snapchat is going to rewrite the app from scratch on Android is this true? And when it will come out?

Yeah the app is pretty poorly developt for such a big company. But the 3D figures work perfectly on the honor 9 of my friend so i think it might have something to do with the messed up gyroscope of the honor 8. I hope honor will fix this in Android oreo but i dont expect it to happen. Sadly.
