Flash Stock Firmware Galaxy Note5 N920G to a Galaxy Note5 N920T - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

Hello, I was wondering if there is a chance I can flash the Stock firmware from the N920G to my N920T. Why???, the reason is that here, in my country, my carrier is deploying a new band for LTE, B28 700, but even when I select that band, the handset won't use it. How do I know that???, because when I dial the code *#2263# and select the mentioned band, it won't get any signal at all. So, the baseband for the N920G uses the LTE bands I need, B2 (saturated and sharing bandwidth with 3.5G), B28 (6 months old and the one I want to use) and B7 (not officially deployed). As in this moment I'm using the QC6 Baseband with TWRP. If there is another way that I can get those signals to work on the phone, I'm open to suggestions.
Thank you for your time, hopefully there is a solution for my need and there is a really smart guy who can help my with this.
Thank you in advance for you kind help to this community.
Any other questions I'll be happy to answer them all.
Cheers mates.

Not possible to do that, the phone will just not accept the firmware when you try to do it.

Hey!, thanks for your advice, I really thought there was a workaround to enable the band I need, bummer .

As a work around, and I don't even know if this will work because I've never had a reason to do what you want to do but if I did, since you have TWRP what I would do is download the firmware of which you need and unzip it and try flashing JUST the modem and then select the band's you need if it even accepts the modem.bin (which you'll probably have to rezip to modem.tar otherwise it may not flash) if it doesn't work just put the phone back in download mode and reflash just the modem that you're currently using don't flash the entire firmware or it might erase everything you have.. That's really all I can think of after trying to search if that's possible..

Hello @MrMike2182:
Thank you very much for your advice. I'm gonna try this later this week, most likely on the 29th, there is a holy day here in my country. I'll let you know how it goes or any extra comments.
Have a good one.

I need to spend some quality time with my T235 in order to test your new ROM out.
Unfortunately, I do not have the time to do that today. I will install and test drive it tomorrow.
Thanks so much for doing this for us,

Finally! A Rom for T235!!
Thank you so much!!
I will give it a try!
This will work for T235 as well right? Mine have no (Y) at the back.

I'm assuming it should. Is the recovery the same for each device? The T230, T230NU and T231 can all run the same firmware. (Except the T231 needs a different Modem and the T230NU needs the NU kernel for IR blaster to work)
What is the difference between the two?

So.....this ROM is based off the SM-T235Y. But its just the system and kernel.
This ROM won't change any of the other firmware..ie recovery, modem and boot loader.

it recognize the networks available but it fails to obtain ip address .... other than that seems to be an amazing rom from XDA developers

I think I know what is causing that. I'll get that fixed shortly. Did you happen to pull a logcat? There is a missing symlink in my updater-script and I need to see which one.
Just a quick question, did you try a router reboot? Did you try to forget connection and then try to reconnect?
Thank you for stepping up.

This is a test version. If you don't feel comfortable they you are free to wait. If you do want to flash it and test to see if everything works, awesome.
With testing there are a few things you will need.
1. A stable backup to fall back on.....ie, make a backup in recovery
2. Odin and your firmware (in a .tar.md5 )
3. Knowledge of how to get yourself out of a bootloop
4. How to pull a logcat.
Its all up to you......every ROM and/or flash comes with risks. It boils down to, are you willing to take that risk?

I'll check with RVR, to see if he has a fix. He created the recovery for the SMG-800F which I based this recovery on,, changing the kernel and the size of the filesystems based on the T235 factory settings.
He may know of the 64GB issue and since fixed it on the G800F recovery. If so I'll be able to fix this recovery fairly quickly for you.

ROUTER... i did not reboot router since all other devices were working properly... but i am gonna reboot router tonight and see what happen . other thing that i have noticed is that no predictable text on keyboard even taht predictable text is enable...... something that i can live with..... thanks again for your hard work....
Wi-Fi, predictive text, Model, and LTE Bands
-- Confirming that my T235 failed to connect to wifi it recognizes the networks available, authenticates with the passcode, but fails to obtain an ip address which is necessary to connect.
-- Predictive text no workey even when turned on in settings.
RE: Phone Model and LTE Bands
-- Phone Info + shows that my Phone Model is now showing as a T235Y which isn't really a problem, but the original CSC code and the active CSC code both show (BGL) Bulgaria and the CSC Product code shows as SM-T235NYKATPL (T235). -- Only reason I bring this up is because I am still unable to do anything with the LTE bands of the SS222 on my T235.
-- Even tried to flash the T235Y modem firmware to the T235 device in hopes it would change the LTE bands to from EUR to Tawainese bands thus giving me some hope of eventually enabling US LTE bands on the device after that, but the T235Y modem flash fails to complete successfully, and then leaves the radio inoperable until I flash the T235 modem firmware back on to the device again. EDIT: was able to successfully flash the T235Y modem firmware onto the device using TWRP after I created an updater script, but the radio still doesn't work after a successful flash completion until I reflash the original T235 modem firmware back onto the device.
-- I'm thinking the remaining CSC country/model (BGL and T235) being on my device conflicts with the ROM Phone Model type (T235Y) possibly causing the T235Y modem firmware flashing to fail. I know I am reaching here, but this theory sounds much better to me than another possibility that the SS222 modem HW for the T235 won't support the different LTE bands supported by the T235Y, or any other LTE bands than it came with from the factory.
Anyone have thoughts, ideas, real knowledge or information whether the remnants of CSC in a ROM could prevent flashing a SS222 with a different region's modem firmware versus the SS222 modem hardware of each device T235 / T235Y only being compatible with the LTE bands/freq's it was shipped from the factory with?
I really hope its CSC not HW!

(Ahem...!) Any news about this?
I guess I know what occurs with TWRP: it DO write the bckp, but then, on rebooting, nothing is there. This is the common SD "issue" on KK, but now it occurs only with some apps, I think. I "SD-fixed" my card in any possible way for me...of course.
Right now I'm not able to delete 2 empty folders created weeks ago. Root Explorer apparently does it, but, on reboot, they are there again...
Therefore, I'm able to move files beetwin folders, and delete it.

Would someone be able to pull the whole /system and PM it to me......so I can see what the differences are?

I have a T235, I'm willing to do it, but you should know, I'm back to rooted , stock rom, with a modified csc for Open Columbia (COO) hoping I could force the SS222 LTE modem to work on band 17 here in USA.
Had no such luck with the modem, but the CSC mod is solid. Hate to lose that to only have to do it again, but I will if you need me to and no other offer comes in for whole /system of a T235.

How to "pull /System"? I have the NJ3 version just rooted....without modem or CSC changes.
It's necessary to flash OB base?
It's just taking Root explorer, copying /system folder?

[How-To] Flash AT&T Nougat to T-Mobile S7

Hey everyone,
Here is a guide to flash AT&T Nougat to our T-Mobile S7. For convenience I have uploaded everything needed to google drive.
So far the only thing I have found that isn't working is Wi-Fi Calling.
1) Download everything from this Google Drive folder:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B6HE3dipVfjZOVRMcWd1S3IzOVE?usp=sharing
2) Copy the "update.zip" to your SD card. If you don't have an SD Card, you may need to copy it to your phone after step (4)
3) Put your phone into Download mode
4) Flash the PK1 files in Odin (AP, CSC, BL, and CP)
5) Once your phone restarts to the setup screen (could take 10-15 minutes) restart back into Recovery mode. No need to do any setup here
6) Flash update from SD Card and select "update.zip". This step can take over 30 minutes.
7) Once you have gone through the initial setup, you need to fix the APN settings.
a) Go to Settings - Connections - Mobile Network - Access Point Names
b) Click Add
c) Fill in these APN Settings
Name: T-Mobile US LTE
APN - fast.t-mobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
APN type: default,mms,supl
d) Click the 3dots menu - Save
e) Click on the newly created menu
f) Now your LTE data should work
And Voila! You now have a working final version of Nougat. You can disable almost everything that AT&T puts on there.
EDIT: I've updated the Google Drive link with a compressed file containing all the needed AT&T files.
If this works for you please go to the following post and thank the OP. Without his instructions, I would have not been able to do this.

No, I haven't had any connection drops. I only flashed it last night, I will definitely keep everyone here updated. Cell signal is just as good as the latest tmobile features.
Also, I realized I posted this in the Q&A section. Any chance an admin could move it to the Guide section

The main differences I found between the Version nougat I was using and this version is that the latest Verizon version I could find was still just a beta. This is what seems to be a fully finished version of nougat. As I said, I have only had this for 1 day on my phone, but so far I have had absolutely no issues. The Verizon version gave me battery life issues, it caused my phone to overheat quite often, this version has none of those problems.

Quick question the, the files I downloaded is a pk1 is that that actual Update file? Or is that the odin files to flash threw odin? Then the update file should be there to do a recovery flash Update?
I'm already on pk1 but the mobile and it didn't flash threw recovery. I thought I'd just have to flash it over this but not being on att started to figure that I need to be on att pk1.
Thanks in advance

Okay, so there are 5 files in the archive. 4 of them end in .tar.md5 and those are the AT&T PK1. You need to flash those files through Odin, than flash the update.zip through the phones recovery mode. You need to be on the AT&T PK1 before you can flash the update.zip through the recovery. Flashing the update.zip while on the T-Mobile PK1 will fail.

Rooted S8+ on Verizon lost all mobile networks

I rooted last night using SamPwn and everything was working well until today... After one of the reboots I did today my phone stopped showing service, my sim card, network operators, and it wont hold an apn.
I have tried power cycling, removing the sim, resetting network settings, and wiping all cache.
Is there any way to only reflash the network portion? I have rooted and flashed quite a few things but havent bothered going into the intricacies and I feel as though this phone has less wiggle room for error. Hopefully you guys can get me a swift answer.
Thanks in advance!

Searching the SamPWND thread should net you a literal ton of solutions, but I'll try to sum it up for you.
Extract the stock firmware for whatever version you're running (QGL,QH3, ETC), and be sure to use 7zip for all of these extraction/archiving steps, then extract the modem.bin from the CP file and NON_HLOS.bin from the BL file. Now, highlight modem and non_hlos files and use 7zip to add to archive, you'll want to keep everything default, and the end result should be a tar file with whatever name you chose for the archive. Use Odin to flash this archive in the AP slot, it should work fine, but if not, you can try using the modified Odin (all default options for both). Once done, be sure to reboot to recovery and clear the cache and also a Network factory reset from settings if you're still unable to gain signal. If you're still not getting signal, you can try flashing the entire CP file and Home_CSC file (be sure to use the HOME_CSC, as regular CSC will overwrite root and start you over from scratch) using their respective slots in odin, though if modem and non_hlos doesn't get it up and running, that may be a redundant step.
Good luck!
instead you can flash combination file COMBINATION_FA70_G955USQU1AQD8 , just google for it. that will help to get Network Signal again

Thank you for this. I did a few queries in there and didn't come up with much but that could be due to my lack of optimized searching.
I ended up reflashing the csc and it wiped all my data but restored my data. I was at work when this happened and, being that I work in a Verizon, I need my phone quite a lot. I have since backed up my EFS and noted the suggestions in this thread so it will not happen again.
Once again I appreciate the help and I am sure it will save me in the near future!

Just note that the combination firmware he referenced is a universal firmware, and if you use a vzw firmware (ie QGL), it tends to cause issues with data/connectivity. Mixing carrier firmware and universal firmware has always cause me to start fresh, after 20+ roots using SamPWND, we finally came to that consensus.
Just something to keep in mind, 955U1 and 955U do not mix, regardless of version.

Funnily enough, besides this issue, my service improved over stock with the root.
But even if that's the case doesn't the U1 simply signify an unlocked firmware version? Why does that cause an issue?

Well, technically, it stands for a universal firmware, but I knew what you meant. 955U firmware is carrier specific, while U1 is Universal, as in it should apply to whichever carrier you have, so long as your sim card is in working order and tells the firmware which CSC to use correctly.
For whatever reason, when rooted and flashing the U1 firmware, the csc doesn't quite stick as it should, at least in my observations. Obviously flashing the modem and non_hlos is supposed to cure this issue (no data/connectivity/modem crashes), but I find it doesn't do much but change it in prop settings. My theory is that it's something to do with the efs partition superceding the csc flashed to system after using Ufirmware for root.
Regardless, I'm still trying to find a way to alleviate this issue, but it's a known bug that should be noted when rooting and using a mixture of U and U1 firmware.

Are you staying on root or stock? The root has helped my data issue slightly over stock and apparently the update for the stock firmware to fix my issue is in the works (but not yet released).
If you do find a stable solution let me know, it's working for now but I still drop to 1x frequently (which happened before root as well).
Thanks again for your help

Root does seem to help if, like I said, you don't mix and match firmwares, I'm on stock at the moment but will be rerooting tonight. There is a new carrier firmware for vzw and TMO, I'll be using vzw to accomplish the second part of the root method and updating to it (QI6). I'll update with how it goes later tonight or tomorrow, but here the link for the newest vzw firmware.

Ah, I see. Root helped even though I used the universal firmware in the SamPWND thread (that could just be an individual issue regarding my area/device).
I'd love to see the results of the new firmware so I am looking forward to your update! Was that the main reason you chose to remove root? That and the 80% situation are the only things bothering me so far. Appreciate the link, you saved me a search

Please help me!!! I'm in need of assistance

I just bought a galaxy s8 plus phone. The Wi-Fi keeps saying turning on, but doesn't actually turn on. It's not my router because I can get my galaxy s7 phone to connect no issue. It's a Samsung G955U and 7.0
Any thoughts?
You can try a factor y reset and or stock firmware
Reinstall. Sometimes stock can be broken as well.

https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950U/
This is for the U or snapdragon. If yours is differ click firmwares and type in your model select your carriers firmware from the list

Mine is Verizon. SnapDragonG955U. I found the firmware for my phone. Can you direct me to the thread where I can flash the firmware for this phone? Ive found a thread for rooting that is part cyborg. It looks like I can use that to root the phone. But I need to reflash the stock firmware first.

Also, which order do I flash them?
You put ap bl and co in respective slots in Odin. And I use the home csc in csc slot. Flash all together
You won't use the user data

So I tried this and wifi still isnt turning on. Am I missing something?
If software didn't fix. Then it's a hardware issue. But In my life I've seen out like 5 times or so

Only other thing I know to do is try a couple firmwares and maybe one of the combo files around. If none of that works then a ram with Sammy may be the only option. As this is about everything you can try on your end.
Unless some one else wants to chime in with something I didn't think of.
Ps I had this happen on my LG g3. Camera could not connect. Flash many roms. Flash this that. Nothing. And all because they used apparently the same base I had. I bricked. Or something downloaded a new firmware from a new site and flashed and bam. No camera issue from there on out

OOS 10.5.12 -- global build modem

Hey all,
I downloaded the above update and tempted to flash the modem.img from the previous t-mobile build (before 5g SA). I've been posts in which there is a mmc.win in place of the modem.img file. Are we moving in a different direction? I have no problems flashing the modem.img since I get a solid connection.
Let me know if I'm thinking way too hard about this or doing too much. Damn quarantine got me hella bored.
the win file is a twrp backup and the img file is from the tmobile update. do you have the tmobile modem.img and mind sharing it?

I don't have the 5G SA modem. img yet. In fact, I've been waiting for t-mobile to re-release the messed up update and someone to post the modem img.
I *do* have the modem img from the previous build (non 5g SA). If you're interested, here's the link:

Well I'm TMO running global 19.5.12.IN21AA and I didn't have to flash anything else. My modem still works and it's fine. You don't have to flash anything unless you have problems. So fast so good for me. I was on 10.5.9 TMO when I converted so I'm waiting until the get their sh#@ straight before I go back to TMO. But only for the 5G SA update then back to Global. Happy modding!

Thanks for replying. Yep, I'm waiting on tmobile as well. :good:
NOTE: Would it be smart to continue flash the modem.img from the previous build (non SA) or leave it alone when I update to 10.5.12.21AA?
Thanks Nathan!

I would not fish it update anything unless I have to. If your modem is working then I would not mess with it. If we had a reliable recovery that we can restore then I would say yes. Happy modding!

They did release... But good luck getting it. They say they have a daily limit and to check back after 8/31/20. Seems like BS to me.
