Bootloader Unlocked - Camera not working - DRM patch anyone? - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

Hi everbody,
I've my device since 2 days and i'm looking for a solution to my problem : when i take a photo with the stock app, it shows me a green screen after the shutter :/
Of course i tasted all i can before this post : restore my device, Emme (not possible when bootloader unlock), ... Maybe if someone send me the original apk, i can install it and resolve my pb.
Hope someone can do it
Thx

Pretty sure this is the one you need.
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sony-mobile-communications/sony-camera/camera-sony-mobile-communications-2-0-0-release/sony-camera-2-0-0-4-android-apk-download/
It's the same version as I have.

Thanks for your reply ! Unfortunately, it's "corrupted" (i'm french, sorry for my english)
I made a test with other apps and it works... But not Sony camera

Today, Emma detects my device and software is downloading new version (1309 vs 1306). Crosse my fingers to resolve my pb with this !

Probably won't but fingers crossed - This looks like something that happens when you unlock bootloader. Some functions might get disabled (it's usually only the advanced camera functions such as noise cancelling, but on my X camera was only showing green). Try the Emma dev version - should work (should give you at least some functionality), or wait for a kernel to be developed.
As a cautionary tale, it's way too early for BL unlock where there is No dev support. This release is just too recent. Personally, I'll wait for tested root methods and hopefully a TA backup solution.

Do you know where I can find Emma dev version ?
Coz you're right : it didn't work...

Download the EMMA from sony website. As soon as it detects your unlocked bootloader it will automagically download the latest dev fw version - customization is outside of what xperiafirm offers and it should work. Should. I'm still waiting for my phone to be delivered so I can't help you further than that. I just know it works for terrible failures.
In any case, a kernel that addresses the DRM content functionality is probably weeks away weeks away. Maybe relocking the bootloader will help? Could restore partial camera functionality, instead of a green screen.
Again, I'm coming with ideas under a huge maybe but you should give it a try.

i think for the moment relocking bootloader is the best... but how ? Could you (or someone) help me step by step ?

It should be working although you need to install the drivers without Enforcing Driver signature.
To do that you need to restart your PC while holding the Shift key. Shift, click restart and a 'new' screen will appear asking you how do you want to restart. go through the menus till you see the F1-12 options. As far as I remember F7 is the one that disables driver signature enforcement. After that PC should restart normally but without that thingy. Once restarted go to flashtool folder - drivers - and install the drivers - click allow everywhere and voila, drivers are set. From there on, you should see the phone as connected. Emma should also work.
hrs a vid of how to custom restart https://youtu.be/71YAIw7_-kg?t=1m1s

You just need the generic adb drivers. but if they're not working try those. https://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-xz-premium-driver/ Although flashtool might not be compatible. I can't confirm this since I'm still waiting for my phone to be delivered. Soon this should be populated, is where you can find a custom kernel that restores DRM functionality https://kernel.andro.plus/yoshino.html

In Windows, my device with green led (volume - and plugged) => SOMC Flash Device. If i click on "upgrade drivers" and go in Sony Driver folder, windows tells me my driver is up to date.
I certainly forget or loose something, but it's the first time i have pb with any device since 10 years !! :/

DRM patch?
@FartyParty @kemod @AndroPlus
Hey guys, can you please help @Nikom69 with his DRM issue?
He unlocked BL and has no camera functionality - green screen. He flashed the FW with EMMA and still no camera. And flashtool isn't working. I did my best to help him but I'm still waiting for my phone to arrive.
So do you have a working DRM patch or something to get him at least basic camera functions back? I told him to wait for AndroPlus Kernel but maybe there's a quick fix or a different idea.

Unfortunately no, I experienced the same and also posted this issue on another thread hoping that someone won't repeat my mistake
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72645858&postcount=19
It seems like all proprietary post processing is no longer functional after bootloader unlock, but video still work to some extent and you can still use the camera only in manual mode with ISO 100 and all features off (which is useless). My Sony XZP just turn into an expensive and beautiful "worse than AOSP phone" right now. I really hope someone could have a solution to this, heck I even willing to pay for it.

Yes, unlocking the bootloader destroys the drm-keys and disables stuff.
The keys are gone, warranty gone, no amount of flashing this or that will restore anything.
Relocking the bootloader will NOT restore drm-keys because they are gone FOREVER.
Just wait for a custom kernel with drm-fix included and the camera will work again.
How were you even able to unlock the bootloader if you can't get flashtool to work?

That's simple - Fastboot commands. I'm receiving my XZp today but now I'll think twice and wait for the Androplus.
I was thinking for bootloader relock - cause on my Xperia X after relocking camera was working to some extent, but its not the case here..... Anyway if you think of something write it here. He'll be happy for any solution you find. I know how it feels to go from flagship to brick in under 3 seconds so he's got my full support

So he managed to unlock bootloader with adb fastboot but adb flashboot doesn't work?
If he were able to flash twrp he could just flash drm-fix etc.
But eh, just gotta wait a little.

Exactly, he needs the DRMfix, do you have it? Or should he wait for the kernel to come out. This Thread should be a cautionary tale for first timers so information is the key. :cyclops:

You have to flash the modified kernel with the drm patch.. The same thing happened in my XZs, got solved only after I flashed the modified kernel..

[Q] [E C1505] [SOLVED] A bunch of Questions

Hi guys,
i'm somewhat of a noob when it comes to Android devices, so please excuse my stupid questions.
First some facts about my device:
ROOT: Enabled
BOOTLOADER: Locked and not changeable
ROM: Latest available official release
(hope that helps at least a bit)
#1: Is it possible to bypass the bootloader lock via root? If so, how?
#2: If there is no way to bypass the lock, is it possible to modify the rom anyway? Because i want to add the swapon/swapoff functionality to expand the available ram via a swap partition on my external SD card. (already checked via terminal if swapon/swapoff is available)
Thank you in advance for your help. I hope there's a solution to my problem.

You're right - your phone isn't allowed a bootloader unlock.
Without bootloader unlock, you can't change ROMs, but you can install ICS, which is a bit faster than Jelly Bean, even slightly more than CyanogenMod. In fact, even with an unlocked bootloader, I'm using ICS. Here's how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579233
Now, you said you're a noob when it comes to Android, so here's how to flash an FTF:
This process will remove all installed apps, contacts and settings. Any music, stuff on the internal storage (the one for music etc.) or the microSD will be preserved.
0. Make sure you're on Windows 7 or below. For some reason, this doesn't work with Windows 8 or 8.1, so you'll have to get a 7 PC somehow.
1. Download Androxyde's Flashtool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 (use the unrestrict.li link, it's better)
2. Install it. By default, it is installed to C:\Flashtool. Open this folder, and then the "drivers" one. You'll see a driver setup file. Install the Flashtool and Fastboot drivers (in the list, they're on the bottom).
3. Now go back to the Flashtool folder, and open "firmwares". Put your FTF file here.
4. Open Flashtool. Click the lightning icon. Ensure that Flashmode is selected, and press OK. Choose the C1605 11.1.A.0.68 file, and press Flash.
5. When it tells you to, turn off your phone. Plug in the USB cable into your computer. Hold volume down (do not hold the power button), and (point of no return now) plug the phone into the USB cable connected to your phone. The notification light will glow green, and hopefully everything will start flashing. When the Flashtool window tells you to disconnect your phone and turn it on, do so. Set it up, and you're on ICS!
If you want to go back to Jelly Bean, download this FTF: https://www.mediafire.com/?3fmmkbmlqtjd6cy and put it into the "firmwares" folder. Now follow the guide step 4 onward, but select "11.3.A.2.23" for Jelly Bean.
Whew, long post.
So, in principle i downgrade the device to ics with an unlocked bootloader and then can flash a custom rom that is jb based, with all features i need to expand the ram?

No, ICS won't enable you to unlock your bootloader OR install CWM OR install a custom ROM. ICS is faster than any other custom ROM (other than XboosT, which is basically ICS on steroids), so if you can't have custom ROMs, the next best thing is ICS.
Another noob's question:
I installed Xposed a few days ago on my c1505 (stock firmware, locked bl). It worked perfectly. But i've read from another post that if i remove it my phone won't boot. So is there any way to remove it without breaking my device?? Waiting for answers.

But UltraGamerHD is still using his phone (in fact, he's making CM11...), right?
Right now, I uninstalled Xposed, rebooted, installed Xposed, rebooted. Nothing called a brick (although I did lose a cool Xposed mod for a reboot). Well, whatever. Uninstalling doesn't brick.
In fact, the problem in the topic is either:
1. The phone hard-bricking, which is not related to Xposed at all.
OR
2. The phone's battery being discharged to 0%, to the point where the phone cannot turn itself on and start charging.

I did brick it once, I went to the Orange UK store in my local town and he said he used software similar to PC Companion.

S-OFF (unlock bootloader) in Sony terms is can be done by visit http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com and follow the instructions. make sure you test by enter *#*#7378423#*#* on dialer and then, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
dunno if someone already build TWRP for Xperia E, but there is CWM for Xperia E

Sorry, in [HTC One V] terms, S-Off not only requires the bootloader to already be unlocked, but then you can also edit the boot, radio and other partitions that are still locked while the bootloader is unlocked.
And that phone number is very helpful, thanks! I'll have to test it Wednesday, when my phone is supposed to arrive

You've had a One V? Cool, there's one in the family, still stock, of course.
I think the radio and stuff can be changed even when the bootloader is locked , using Flashtool to flash the firmwares in flash mode. [citation needed] At least the baseband can be changed easily, probably other stuff too.
TWRP has been built for CM10 (actually it's a dual recovery; both CWM and TWRP) by hsr0. Others have been built too, but since our phones have no recovery image, the recovery has to be built into the kernel, and this is the most stable CM10 kernel, I recommend this one. Not sure if there's a stock TWRP, though.

LOL, no. I've just started my first project, and hardly anybody here knows what it is.
Before unlocking your phone's bootloader, be sure to root it (many guides to root it with a locked bootloader here) and backup the TA partition: this partition has some DRM keys that are removed once you unlock the bootloader. I'm not sure what they do, but you can check whether the DRM keys are there or not, so if you take it to Sony, you can reflash TA, unroot, and they'll honour the warranty.

Well, have a nice day!

Yeah I got one for the phone, but I was rushing out of the house lol

Well this sucks. Apparently Windows 8.1 has issues with connecting Sony devices. Probably just install W7 for a dual boot... but thanks a lot Microsoft! Making me go out of my way to root my phone :l

Don't worry; I feel the same way - my Nexus's fastboot drivers work awesome, but Sony's drivers seem to have problems in 8.1. I need to use another PC for this (no other Windows 7 license around)...

You know, I've been liking you (and a couple of other forum members) more and more, as I read your (and their) posts.
Another tip: don't, ever let the battery level on your phone go down below 15%. Because when the battery goes down to 0%, it's pretty difficult to wake it up - I just had to wake up mine.

[Q] Can someone give me their backed up TA File? And other questions

Hi, I'm in complete meltdown today. I didn't do thorough research and unlocked bootloader on my Z3. Now I regret it.
I heard you could restore the DRM files by mounting the TA files back onto the phone. Can someone give me their backed up TA files so that I can restore DRM features on my phone? I cried this morning because of my ignorance.
If not, can someone help me add "CWM-Based Recovery 6.0.4.7 Recovery" on my phone? I can't seem to load "Advance Stock Kernel with CWM Recovery v01 (FW: 23.0.A.2.93)" onto my phone. The program used to load it won't just make it happen.
I think I can handle the rest after that, but I need some suggestions.
Will using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672
brick my phone? It won't if I follow the steps correctly, right?
Other than that, can someone find me a PERFECT alternative for Music ID?
Is there also any way to restore "Sony Entertainment Media?"
How about fixing "Audio Quality and Volume Enhancements?"
Finally, will "PS4 Remote Play" still be broken?
I tried emailing [email protected] with the following message:
Hi, is there a way to reload lost DRM keys on a locked bootloader on
my Z3 phone?
Here's the story:
I didn't backup the TA partition on my phone and I unlocked bootloader
which made me lose the DRM files.
I'm in the process of relocking my phone. After relocking my phone,
can I send my phone to your repair center so that you guys can re-add
the DRM files?
From my understanding, you could delete the old partition and add a
new partition into my phone that has the DRM files, correct?
I hope to get a reply soon. Thanks.

What do you think of my letter to them? Can they help me restore the DRM files even though they are forever lost? They gotta have a set of DRM keys at the repair center!

I am sure someone could share it with you, but you will be a fool to restore it. The TA partition is individual. If you restore one from another phone you will permanently, 100%, completely hard brick your phone. Do not even think about doing it.

No, they will not help. It well documented that unlocking the boot loses functionality, why would they restore it for you when you admit to unlocking and throwing away your warranty? It is actuall 100% impossible to restore the keys after unlocking unless you took a backup prior to unlocking.
You can however, do a search for restoring DRM functionality, that may help you.
I think you have to try to software it by sony companion (re-instal the frimware). if you cant then try to lock your bootloader and try again to frimware it by sony companion
gregbradley, I followed all the instructions on the internet and I can't get it to install CWM recovery. Maybe later on after work (8PM EST -5 GMT) you can do teamviewer with me? Or am I being unreasonable here?
As for Music ID, please give me the alternative you prefer the most.
Sony Entertainment Media shows as "unavailable" on my phone. Basically, unlocking bootloader killed it.
As for "Audio Quality and Volume Enhancements," audio quality has been degraded because of unlocking bootloader. I was wondering if there's a software or app out there that fixes it.
As for "PS4 Remote Play", any apps out there that remotely connects to the PS4?

You cannot restore your specific DRM keys, those are gone forever, but this will restore the functionality you've lost so it's as good as having them back.
I typed in "fastboot flash boot Z3_DooMLoRD_AdvStkKernel_v01_FW-93.img" and I get this error: waiting for device.

Also, if you install DroidShell_1.5 that will enter the path for you without manually doing it.

Which device do you actually have (D6603 etc)
You should now flash a FTF and exclude system (and kernel if you have just flashed a custom kernel)
How did you install CMW? was it via flashing the doomkernel? That is for D6603 only
Yes, I own D6603, the Z3, not the compact or other variants.
I'm re-installing the OS. Let's see what happens.

thank you so much. finally a proper lastest version of twrp for XC that supports encryption on nougat.
btw. you have to flash it over fotakernel as described in OP. (hotbooting did not work. blank screen.)
I did try other regular X twrp versions with the same result in the past in hopes of finding something better, so the issue was likely the same since I hotbooted them too for a fast test. I guess that's what you get for being lazy. doh.

What do you mean by hot booting? I did this to boot to twrp without installing and have no problem
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
Thanks for the twrp, with this I can make full backup before trying to update to 7.1 or 8.0 later :good:
MTP is not working in this version. Everything else is top notch, will test backup/restore a bit later and report back.

Exactly. I know hotbooting is not the best description, but you understood anyway.
Strange, I am not a flashophile so I usually just booted twrp this way after a upgrade with flashtool. When the phone was connected to the pc anyway.
But it only works for me with the androplus version, oshmoun's version won't boot that way either. It's not the first time I have talked odd twrp behaviour though, as another guy could not get the androplus one to work at all. I have no reason to doubt him, as this is pretty casual stuff.
I see you are still on MM, I have been on N since it came out and if I remember correctly I backed up ta just before N came out (exploit and N came out very close to each other), took the ota, and unlocked BL. So I performed all the 'fastboots' (better word? heh) on that and 7.1.1. Perhaps the bootloader changed someway? I have no idea.
Edit: if I learned to read properly the first time, you are NOT on MM (doh) but 7.0. Sorry and even more strange. Does MTP work for you? (see below)

This version uses Sony init, so you can see the Sony screen and led indicator while entering the recovery mode. I'm not planning to change it before creating an official TWRP.

Is this in response to something functional, or just general cosmetics info? Doesn't the sony screen origin from the bootloader? How should a official twrp look while booting it? I get the sony boot and led then the TWRP boot image, isn't that normal when booting fotakernel replaced by TWRP? ie. the bootloader handles it when turning the phone on while holding vol down.
An official version would sure be nice. I more than appreciate what you already done. So just take your time.

Strange, I don't have problem booting twrp without installing for either of twrp.
I'm on 7.0. I tried to update to 7.1, but I don't get signal if I do the ta_poc + tobias drm fix method, and the drm is still marked as broken.
I really hate mtp and avoid it. I don't think I even have mtp working properly on my pc. I can't help you test that one. Sorry.

Why are you running it through both ta_poc and Tobias rootkernel with drm fix?
Either you use ta_poc to mount your ta backup from before the bootloader was unlocked thereby bringing the whole trim area back including drm.
Or you use Tobias rootkernel to fix or 'emulate" drm.
Both tools can disable dm verity, sony ric, etc. there is no reason (other than likely creating trouble) to run the kernel image though both tools?!
If you for example run a boot.img with drm fix through ta_poc it will remove the drm fix first. So I imagine things could go wrong of you apply drm fix again (if that is what you're doing) after using ta_poc.

There was an info in one of threads, that you should get the stock kernel first through TA_POC and then through kernel repack tool. If you did not, it would work, but occassionally reboots. I am now on 7.1.1 build 206 with Genesis Kernel 1.05 (no_DRM patch version) and it works ok.
As for TWRP, thanks for this! It works ok. Can not fastboot it, must be flashed in recovery parition, but no deal for me. Only thing that I wonder, there are options to backup system, data etc, but not Internal SD (/data/data). Why?
Hi I have a question, I have N 7.1.1, and i want to root it, so i need the twrp, if I flash this twrp, its okay? Ty!

Question Is unbricking possible?

Good morning all, I tried relocking my bootloader using the command "fastboot oem asus-csc lk" and at first, it seemed to be a success. However I restarted my device and was met with this error message. "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot." I've tried searching high and low and it seems that I'm royally screwed, just wanted to confirm that I was though. Thanks for reading my post and any input is appreciated.
If your boot.img is not stock before locking you will get this error. Try flashing stock boot.img. I had a similar experience with realme phone but not encountered this issue with ROG 5
Edit: Sorry since you locked the bootloader i think you cant flash it unless you unlock it again. Give a try with EDL firmware

That's likely because the bootloader is locked. It was possible that EDL mode could still allow a full restore, but also quite possible it wasn't going to work because of that.

You may still want to contact Asus and tell them you don't know what happened. They may be able to restore it. I wouldn't tell them you unlocked the bootloader, since it's locked if they ask.
As long as bootloader mode works, You can flash a RAW file to boot the phone back.
Ensure the phone has enough battery power left for a 20 min+ flash,
USB Cable to be connected on the side port, (not bottom charging port - fastboot doesn't work there)
and to use the exact raw firmware file which matches the device model and variant.

Hopefully this time is different, but every report so far has been that it fails. I believe we still need the firehose to use any programs that override the bootloader security on fastboot.
