So I was in Europe during the Galaxy S8 launch and purchased a European variant of the phone. After I came back home from Germany to USA. I found out that Samsung Pay is limited to the US variants of the phone. However you can use Android Pay and have the advantage of rooting your phone
This is completely false.
You bought a German phone with a German CSC and Germany is not a supported country for Samsung Pay.
A simple CSC swap and it will work completely fine. Please don't spread wrong information without educating yourself first.
Actually, people hve been having issues getting exynos phones to work with all US cards regardless what forms and variations of firmware csc changes were made. Only some work. The UK version has been the only phone thus far to work without issues in the US with Samsung pay
Nonsense.
My EU variety S8 works fine with SP.
Shame only 3 low rent banks support it here making it pretty useless for now.

Are you in Europe? Because if you are, of course you're supported. We are talking about those working in the US. where pretty much all banks/cards are supported
Works fine the US. My phone was originally a BTU flashed XSA Australian firmware and updated everything through the playstore. Of course the next day Samsung Pay rolled out for BTU after I flashed. Oh well might take it back to BTU if XSA is slow to update.
It's not cut and dried. Depending on the country some features and banks work and some don't. For example, most non-U.S. versions don't work with Amex and some U.S. banks. I use US Bank and it doesn't work with other versions of S Pay but does with the UK version. But for whatever reason even though I'm using a UK phone with UK S Pay it's still associated with my U.S. S Pay account. I'm guessing it has to do with the S Pay Framework on the phone and how the phone identifies itself to Samsung's servers which then communicate to the various financial institutions. Perhaps Samsung's been more liberal with the UK version taking in to account the amount of travel between the UK and the U.S. Using a non-U.S. version of S Pay in the U.S. is definitely a YMMV.

34M people apparently. And 1/3 more than Android Pay at that.
I use it because they give me stuff. That and it's cool to watch it work when the store cashier is condescendingly saying "we don't accept Apple Pay."

Hey guys I had a crazy clumsy spell in which both of my nexus 4's fell to the concrete a few days apart and shattered so I replaced them with nexus 5's one 16gb red from the play store for the wife and one black 32 used from ebay. Guess which one doesn't work right - yeah the ebay one. I put them back to back installed 4.4.4 stock and set up the apns for straight talk. The ebay phone has NO LTE at all. The red one with identical software and the same apn settings has perfect lte. I figured it had to be my sim card so I switched cards and the red nexus 5 still gets lte but the black ebay one does not. So it's hardware right? Can anyone think of anything else it could be? I popped off the back of the phone and looked at the spring connections and they seemed to be making contact not sure what else to do at this point. The ebay seller says he won't refund because I tampered with the firmware - rofl I opened a case but I'd like to get this thing to work
What country are you in?. Maybe the eBay is wrong model for your region?
There are only 2 models. D820 and D821 and LTE won't work if you have the incorrect model.for your region.
D820 is North America. D821 is Rest of world

I know the Z3 is a great device. I had one (D6633 model) and sold it and currently have a Nexus 6.
Now if I decide to get rid of my Nexus 6 and buy another Z3, which unlocked model is the best one to get ?
Get the D6603, it has the most LTE bands so its more "global", also I think its Sony's reference model, probably gets updates first as well.
It supports all of AT&T's bands and is only missing Band 12 on T-Mobile.

Yeah it supports the same LTE bands as the D6603 but is missing a few. In the US it won't make a difference, I should have said that earlier. I believe even Sony's USA store sells the D6603.
Here is a comparison:
http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/comparison/e291d107
In Wisconsin, no band 12 so don't worry about it, if you intend to go on T-Mobile.

Cool thanks for the info. If I don't like my Nexus 6, I'll be grabbing me another Z3 for sure.
Does someone know a dongle that allow to use 3G/4G on my tablet ? With some apps, I would like to transform it into a "phone" so I could call and use it everywhere (like the LTE variant). For the moment I'm not root since I don't want to trip Knox. Does any know one ? Big thanks in advance !
How can you do that with a custom rom in the first place?

I would get the LTE variant and sell your old one on ebay or something. Even if u do get a dongle, u will have something 2 inches sticking out of a heavy tablet, u will end up breaking the port.
I actually use google voice and hangouts dialer to convert my tablet into a phone and it works really well. I have LTE variant.

Really? Oo wow, that's a bit anomalous, as the LTE version was €779,00 when I bought it back in May 2014 at MediaMarkt Nordhorn (Germany). Almost 2 years ago.

(the other thing is the Samsonite laptop sleeve it lives in)
Amazon.de has used ones for around 530 euro's.
€620 new, if you want or don't mind the white version. http://www.amazon.de/Samsung-Galaxy-Speicher-Megapixel-Frontkamera/dp/B00I81BU98
(yes you can use a german device in france. All EU devices have the same frequencies, you could even flash XEF over it if you want.)

I clearly need to sell mine first, thanks !
I just purchased a "new" refurbished "Unlocked Galaxy Note 5"
There was never an indication of any carrier attached to the sale. I use TMobile>
Phone arrived and when i powered it up , a Sprint logo pops up.
I insert a TMo sim and it works in so far as it makes calls and sends and gets texts.
But what i want to know is this:
(ive been using Nexus5 /5x phones for years)>
Is there a way to flash this particular unit to an unbranded "stock" version of either android or touch-wiz that will allow for full functionality of the device on TMO (4 G etc).
Or should i just return this to the seller?
I flashed my Nexus 5 years ago , but dont recall the process really, nothing i cant relearn easily im sure.
I appreciate your time and insight.

As far as I know, (have this phone for 5 days now) you should update the firmware to 7.0 and there shouldn't be any branding.
I'm in the N920PVPS3DQJ1 . Try it and comment any doubts.

Sprint has 2 different CSC for the Note 5: SPR and XAS. SPR is branded and XAS is generic (with some sprint apps and other modifications). You should try flashing a XAS firmware.
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=sm-n920p\&rpp=15&order=date&dir=desc&exact=1
Now, I can't say the generic XAS version will provide all T-MO functions, but it's worth a try before returning the phone.
I'm planning on buying to buy this specific phone - Samsung Galaxy A20s A207M 32GB Smartphone on B&H and in the description it says, "Latin America Variant/US Compatible LTE". I've been searching but i don't get any clear answers for this question. It says it accepts GSM carries, which i do have GSM (T-Mobile). And yes i understand the drawbacks of having an international phone. Don't worry the phone is for like 4-5 months max and then i'll buy a phone with my carrier.
QUESTION - I just want to know with me living in the USA, can i put my t-mobile simcard in that phone and it'll allow me to make calls and text? Am i taking any chances of it not working? Or is it better that i just get a US Unlocked version instead?

If the international device is also unlocked, you can use it on any carrier network that supports that device model.

No, you check it. You are the one who wants to buy the phone, you are the one that wants to know if it is unlocked.
