In this thread we will discuss everything about custom ROMs of only merlin, battery, performance,SOT so that people can look up the ROM which suits them best as per their requirements for battery, performance, latest security patches, customization etc..
AOSP extended is the best
AOSP pixel experience is so amazing and updated frequently (once a month), however the battery drains too quick, I get 4h when in heavy use.

Hi there
I have an HTC Desire HD, currently running CM7.0.3 ROM. Its my first ROM I have used and it seems to be one of the popular ones. I'm loving the speed my phone is now running at, and the smooth UI, But there is one big problem since I have flashed this ROM, My battery life is ridiculous. 3 hours of usage and its down to 15%, Im charging my phone twice a day and its about 2 months old.
Stock android had excellent battery life. Now besides the battery life I am kinda bored with the ROM now.
I'm looking for advice on which ROM you recommend, There are so many, I just want some personal opinions.
This is what I am looking for in a ROM:
GOOD BATTERY LIFE
Stylish panels and buttons
Must be based on the latest Android software
Overclocking options
Smooth and fast running
Ag hell, If you know of an excellent ROM with Excellent battery life then let me know. Please post a link to its page and why you love it.
Thanks!
Coredroid are a great set of roms for the desire ...ive been using them for a while and they have never failed me
I want to know what's the best custom rom for mi 5s plus
There is no such thing as best Rom, that's very subjective.
I personally like the Nexus Experience ROM the most as it ticks everything I want.
Some others may say LineageOs or MIUIPro, or maybe MIUI...
What is your personality like? I always want the newest os so i use the Lineage 15.1 Oreo 8.1. But i really like customizable roms, if you like it either i can say ResurrectionRemix official is the best, for my oppinion. and don't use the official rom, it drains your accumulator really fast xd Other ways its good but if you need a good work time i don't recomment it.
There are many Roms out there and I am unsure which are the best. Could you guys recommend me two, one based off of features and the other based solely on battery life and performance? Also, do we get more battery life with a custom ROM or stock?
Well, in my opinion, after having flashed roms since owning an S2+, I can safely say that the battery life on a good custom rom can be better than the stock one (the "can" depends on how the user tweaks it"). The best available roms for the S8+ available now are, in my (repeat "my") honest opinion, Renovate Ice 9.1 and Alexis S9 port. For the last 2-3 weeks I had been using it, ans now I've switched to Alexis.
Greetings-
Been seriously considering dumping my stock ROM (TMobile G930TUVS8CRL1 on a Verizon S7 flat) and trying a custom ROM. I've done so a ton of times on other phones, but never on one with a locked bootloader. I've also read that custom ROMs on the S7 are laggy compared to stock, and since my current stock rom is already laggy, I don't want to go backwards. But since this otherwise decent device won't be getting Pie via traditional means, a custom ROM would be my only pathway to a slice of Pie anyway.
So... all that said... has anyone any performance stories of stock vs custom ROM on our aging S7's?
In my limited experience, no, stock ROM almost always feels slower.
My SM-G930W8 (Non-edge Canadian S7) has been through two ROMs.
My first ROM was Resurrection Remix (Android 8.1) and it was extremely fast, stable, and snappy. The main dealbreaker was the apps being too basic and lack of certain features.
I reverted back to Stock after using RR for around 1 month and used stock for a while until it started slowing down again.
My current ROM is Pixel Experience (Android 9) and I am very happy with it. It is fast, snappy, has the right amount of features, and is very stable. It does have its own set of minor problems but they don't bother me.
I posted a full list of pros and cons on the forum for the ROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79108754&postcount=174).

In my opinion, Pixel Experience is millions of times better and efficient than the Stock ROM. If you are not too deep in Samsung's ecosystem of apps that are not on the play store, you will not be losing much.

I sincerely thank you for your input. But, alas, mine is the Snapdragon variant that has been left to languish in the depths of the dark, musty hallways of neglected and bootloader locked devices.
Heya!
Both of my parents OP8 Have updated to Oxygen 13, (Both they hate*) and decided to have a custom ROM's due to updates breaking features/draining battery life. The main issue is choosing the ROM as All ROM's have there different experience.
One of the phones would preferable would like to Run Android 11 and another Android 12-13 If 13 is stable too be used on a daily base.
They are Both T-Mobile Variants.
If there is ROM's where i dont have too fight Safety Net or deal with apps such as Netflix and any banking apps not wanting to work then it be nice to know What they are, There experience, performance and If its worth it.
I Was suggesting LineageOS but decided not too due to GAPPS and Safety Net.
